Could this year’s crypto winter be nearing an end? That’s the opinion of some experts, and while bullish predictions are easy to come by, there are signs that a thaw could be underway. In today’s Bitcoin in Brief, we examine the market forecast for the weeks ahead.

Bears Abate While Bulls Congregate

While market uncertainty has persisted for weeks, a few experts have felt bold enough to pop their heads above the parapet and predict the worst is over. On Monday, Crypto Asset Management’s Timothy Enneking asserted that the bull market has largely run its course. On crypto Twitter, many traders are also cautiously optimistic. For the first time in a long time, they’ve actually begun sharing calls with their followers, something they’d hitherto been hesitant to do.

Bitcoin has scarcely moved in days, but altcoins, including ethereum and NEO, have started to show green shoots, and EOS is positively blossoming, up 27% in 24 hours. That being said, it’s too early for celebrations. As one trader sagely put it, “The markets will bounce when everybody stops celebrating every single green candle and random shitcoin spike.”

The Texas State Securities Board (TSSB) has released a report detailing some of the risks, including fraud, involved in investing in cryptocurrencies in the state.

Investing can be a risky business. The are countless tales of victims losing thousands and even millions in Ponzi schemes and dodgy dealings. Even the biggest financial institutions can be guilty of shady and illegal behavior.

The virtual currency sector is no different and for some investors, the cryptocurrency market is unchartered territory. There is also a high risk of fraud if proper research isn’t conducted. According to Forbes, this is an issue that the Texas State Securities Board (TSSB) is warning potential investors about.

NO RISK, ALL GLORY

The board conducted an investigation involving 32 cryptocurrency investment promoters over a duration of four weeks. One of the findings in the report was that almost two-thirds of these promoters did not give investors a physical address. Another conclusion was that five out of the 32 promoters did not disclose any investment risks, as well as the risk of cybersecurity threats and hacks, and instead simply promised gains of up to 40% every month.

In the case of the former, the regulatory board has warned investors that a lack of a physical address will seriously hamper any legal proceedings in the event of fraud. This is because lawmakers will be unable to physically serve notices or any type of legal correspondence.

ALL HAT AND NO CATTLE

As with anything online, the board also warned against taking anything at face value as it’s easy to manipulate information on the web.

The report went on to explain:

Charming portraits and lengthy profiles may convey a sense of comfort and security, but virtually anyone from anywhere may be lurking behind the flashy graphics.

The board cited an example of this in the form of LeadInvest, a crypto investment site. In the personal descriptions for their management team, the Panama-based platform was found to be using stock photographs or pictures of people who are in no way affiliated with LeadInvest. The TSSB subsequently issued a cease and desist order.

Another, but unrelated, example of this is that of another platform who had their ICO earlier this year. In a similar situation, they used a photograph of US actor, Ryan Gosling, in the description of one of their team members.

TEXAS READY TO CRACK DOWN ON UNAUTHORIZED TRADERS

In the case of the TSSB report, none of the promoters were registered to sell securities in the state. In addition, these promoters hoped to lure investors by harping on about Bitcoin’s meteoric price rise last year, but were not even offering any Bitcoin-related investment options.

According to the board, unauthorized trading could result in administrative, civil, or criminal repercussions.

Even though the rules may be different when it comes to investing in crypto compared to traditional assets, there is one similarity. Potential investors need to make sure that they have thoroughly researched what they’ll be putting their money before taking out their leather, or digital, wallets.

A European Commission vice-president has called on EU nations to commit to blockchain technology which he says is moving out of the lab and going mainstream.

In a speech centered on digitization, a vice president of the European Commission – the executive arm of the European Union – pinpointed blockchain technology as an area that EU nations ought to be committing to. EC vice-president Andrus Ansip underlined blockchain technology among “the areas where Europe is best positioned to play a leading role” alongside artificial intelligence (AI).

The official was offering the opening remarks of the European Union’s annual ‘Digital Day’ initiative held in Brussels this year when he stated:


To this end, the EC official called on national governments and private sectors to contribute to the cause, stating the EU’s own “public purse only goes so far”, representing roughly 1% of the annual wealth generated by EU economies. “[W]e need hard cash,” he added, bluntly.

The notable remarks come within weeks of EU launching its own ‘Blockchain Observatory and Forum’ earlier in February. First announced by the EC last year, the establishment was in response to a European Parliament mandate to strengthen EU’s technical expertise in new technologies.

The EC now says it will invest €300 million in projects directly related to the use of blockchain technology. The Commission also revealed it is laying the groundwork required to establish a European Blockchain Partnership in order to promote “interoperable infrastructures”, presumably between EU nations, to enhance and foster trusted digital services.

Meanwhile, EC officials have previously hinted at introducing a regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies as recently as February.

According to reports, bitcoin cash users are frustrated with the Ledger hardware wallet as users have complained they cannot access their accounts. The firm’s chief technical officer, Nicolas Bacca, explained on Reddit forums that the team was still investigating the matter.

Ledger Wallet BCH Accounts Have Been Unavailable

Recently on the Reddit forum /r/ledgerwallet, a user complained about bitcoin cash (BCH) accounts being down for well over twenty hours. At the moment the issue is still unresolved as of April 10, 2018, 6:17 PM UTC as the company says a “data transfer” is now 81 percent complete and “the ETA for the end of the transfer is unchanged.” The Reddit post has a number of comments from BCH users “freaking out” and unable to see their coins or make transactions. Ledger has issued a status report concerning the issue stating:

“The new version of Bitcoin-ABC (Bitcoin Cash node) breaks compatibility with our parser — As a result balances shown on the Ledger Wallet are incorrect — Our engineering team is currently working on a fix.”

Ребята, я раньше не вникал в проект Банкор, но знаю что Pillar добавили свои токены в листинг Bancor. По ссылке ниже, которая предоставлена Pillar, не увидел книгу ордеров, только 2 кнопки, при нажатии купить повляется 2 кошелька на выбор, Metamask и Bancor кошелек. С недоверием отношусь к внешним кошелькам, предпочитаю классику, кто уже пользовался, Bancor wallet хранит приватные ключи на стороне пользователя или сервера?

The tax authority of South Africa has warned taxpayers in the country against forgetting to report all their cryptocurrency transactions. However, it also presented a framework with a few positive points for those trading cryptocurrencies such as the ability to claim expenses and losses.

Not Legal Tender, Still Taxable

The South African Revenue Service (SARS) announced on Friday that it expects everyone to declare cryptocurrency gains as part of their taxable income. “The onus is on taxpayers to declare all cryptocurrency-related taxable income in the tax year in which it is received or accrued. Failure to do so could result in interest and penalties.”

The SARS acknowledged that it faced many calls from the public to provide direction on how to treat cryptocurrency tax reporting but says that a separate interpenetration is unnecessary for now. Instead it tried to explain how it falls under the current framework. Anyone who is uncertain about specific transactions involving cryptocurrencies may also seek guidance from the agency.

The Existing Tax Framework

The agency explains that cryptocurrencies are not regarded by SARS as a currency for income tax purposes or Capital Gains Tax, rather they are regarded as “assets of an intangible nature.” And, that “Whilst not constituting cash,” income received or accrued from cryptocurrency transactions can be taxed on revenue account under “gross income”. When goods or services are exchanged for cryptocurrencies, transactions are regarded as a barter.

On the positive side, South African taxpayers are also entitled to claim expenses associated with cryptocurrency accruals, “provided such expenditure is incurred in the production of the taxpayer’s income and for purposes of trade.” Additionally, SARS will not require VAT (Value-Added Tax) registration as a vendor for purposes of the supply of cryptocurrencies in 2018.

While SARS now says the onus is on taxpayers to report cryptocurrency transactions, traders should not assume it is not looking for other way to find out about them. Back in December 2017 we reported that SARS was exploring ways to track and tax bitcoin trading. The agency held talks with tech companies offering to implement transaction tracking solutions for it.

На том сайте что вы скинули, довольно насыщенный календарь событий по монете на Апрель и начало лета. Т.е в течении апреля может быть плаавный рост. Я бы съездил в Польшу или Германию на Конференцию, взглянул в ихние ясные очи, стенд и презентационные материалы.

Насчет прогнозов, для себя так думаю, надо морально быть готовым что рынок может снижаться неопределенное количество времени, с легкими сезонными пампами вплоть до нескольких лет.

Да, CAVIAR присылали письмо что начнут рассылать токены, когда все пройдут KYC. Понятно что семеро одного не ждут, до последнего человека ждать все не должны, иначе можно ждать вечность. Хорошо бы чтобы определили дату выплат, пусть и продленную, но конкретную.

Кстати, нашел, ранее они указывали что собираются выплатить средства до 7 Апреля, но наверное придется еще подождать.
