221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Still Dead? on: May 07, 2024, 11:21:53 AM
-snip-
That topic is made mostly as a sarcastic rebuttal of the many different articles that came up with that "bitcoin is dead" rhetoric at one time back in the early 21st century. Most of these are just temporary which people fail to grasp and thereby lies the importance of clickbait because being influenced by just the topic and not reading what it is about is disastrous in crypto.

So yeah bitcoin has been dead so many times, why not let it die once more. After all, we Bitcoiners don't really care, we make money.

224  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Question to hodlers:How will you spend the money? on: May 06, 2024, 09:13:53 AM
I keep my spendings limited to fiat currency and not bitcoin. While there are some giftcars purchases happening there are less bitcoin being spent. It is mostly for the long term price growth of Bitcoin along with the accumulation of Bitcoin over time that I am targeting. Both of these are achievable with long term holding.

Using the money to make more money is possible if you are willing to invest these Bitcoins. That is a topic for another discussion and many are already doing this too.
225  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football/Soccer Winning Strategy on: May 06, 2024, 09:08:55 AM
Methods like these don't always work because ultimately you are playing with luck and that first goalscorer might get their goal back from the opposing team and the game might end in a draw.

The mental satisfaction here is from the fact that you are doing something that is different from regular games. It cuts the existing redundancy but does not add anything new. It is not a skill based game and hence however you might want to twist the things, it all comes down to your luck.
226  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Aviator games on: May 06, 2024, 09:05:02 AM
Why don't we talk about aviator games here? It looks like the least played casino game. I don't understand it is there anyone who plays it and what's it like? I have watched YouTube videos on it, but still don't get how it works. And the conversations here about it is scanty.
Crash games are less popular unlike dice and slots are. Even old casinos like bustabit are having its regular following base and few new flux happens but is enough to keep the cash flow incoming. The games are EV- and you cannot outsmart the system to win big. The median multiplier is around 1.9x on most games over long term.

Still it can make or break you before you know it. You need to cash out before the crash happens and that can happen at any jumber. The chances of getting a 1x loss is what puts people off from these games.
227  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is there strategy to make profit daily future trade on: May 06, 2024, 08:58:55 AM
In order not to lose your entire deposit, you do not need to open an order for 100% of your available funds. Actually, there is a risk management strategy for this. Try trading 2-3% of your deposit. In this case, if the price moves contrary to your expectations, you will lose only these 2-3%, and not the entire deposit.
Well if they start with only 100$ then this method would mean spending 2-3$ per trade which is literally nothing. Therefore proper choice coins before starting the trade is important. The altcoins will always lead to bigger losses but not bitcoin, so that is one point. Again knowing how to deal with a opposite side movement is also important. Here you don't give up hope and panic sell but you hold it so that when the price crosses over you can sell the asset to break even.

However these little things will never be learnt from signals groups and all. It comes from practice and experience.

229  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Wait for the right set-up on: May 05, 2024, 06:59:20 AM
Patience is a virtue in trading, if you can't wait for the right set-up, then it's better to stop trading and settle on short term investment.
Things often go out of hand for traders and being patient through the trade will allow them to come up with the opposite solution. If they bought at high, by mistake, they can with till the high is crossed which eventually make take a couple of years. But this lesson is to be ingrained to avoid such future mishaps.

One thing good about spot trading that keep it different from any other mode of trading is the opposite asset at hand remains intact to be sold at any later date. You just have to be patient enough to hold it.

The right setup might never come in as "right" - sometimes just follow the buy low sell high and dont wait during high volatility - these last few weeks for example.
230  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The shocking rate of women interested in gambling. on: May 05, 2024, 06:55:14 AM
High stakes gambling is perhaps a more macho type activity but thats not always wise for anyone to engage in so figures men are willing to take higher risks as thats typically true across the board on every subject.
With access more women are playing risky gambling games. The only question remains as to how they are getting the funds to be able to gamble with high stakes. Effect of that will be how they end up after they lose the money. They might end up in debt or at the hands of a loan shark. Definitely not the type of idol anyone would want their upcoming mother to be.

Same thing as that has happened to men in gambling is already happening to women and will continue unless people start putting a moderation on their gambling habits.

Rates may shock or may not, it is ultimately a personal choice to gamble and that is where self-discipline comes in. Because gambling does not happen without the rest of the seven sins coming in.
231  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think casinos can stop demanding KYC? on: May 05, 2024, 06:42:20 AM
This is unlikely to happen.

There are bad people among us who use mixers, casino wallets and exchanges to attempt to stop the tracing of their stolen funds and move to accessible places. Unfortunately the casino in turn has to answer to the authorities for this and thus they have to take these steps of forcing KYC on flagged accounts.

We might find it as something of a bore, but for them it is a protection for their business.

Hence in all probability these constraints will more likely increase, not decrease in future.
232  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion for new information in poster info on: May 05, 2024, 06:39:01 AM
It will not deter newbies from posting if they are posting only to increase their post count.  Smiley

It might help shoo away the older members who know that there is no reason to comment and add to the previous replies but only reply is something new has come up which is relevant and on point (aka not a necropost)

Hence I would support this idea, something like "OP has not logged in for this many days/ This thread is so may years old" might make some level of impact on necroposting or allow the poster to get backlinks from this forum to their shit-site. << a good example is one such thread in "Gambling" where the Newbie's sole intention was to promote a site and so they made the post and then left their account.
233  Economy / Gambling / Re: ✨ JacksClub.io ✨ Daily Contest with Amazing Prices | VIP Rewards | Free Faucet on: May 05, 2024, 06:30:14 AM
Happy birthday to Jacksclub, hoping to see more such birthdays to come in the upcoming years. It is generous of them to organize such events and giveaways on special days and indeed the excitement from the players is also palpable seeing the telegram channels boom with messages every morning.

Hoping to see some big wins happen during this period and get shared on this thread or social media channels too.

Wonder if there will be a new bitcointalk exclusive contest/giveaway during this month too? lol
Demanding much I see, I dont mind though. General participation is enough from my side.
234  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The Illusion of Trading Success on: May 04, 2024, 10:12:36 AM
OP is hands down right about this.

There are so many people who will appear in front of you as those who can teach trading when trading is something you can teach yourself. They make their money not by trading but by selling these "promises" and people are ready to eat them because we all need someone to guide us and fear to take the path ourselves.

This industry is unregulated and hence they run rampant and prey on newbie traders. But we can only make others aware of this because these people are after all practicing their free speech.
235  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Best explorer for Bitcoin on: May 04, 2024, 10:05:57 AM
Blockchair is also the one I use for any random lookups and I have not found any difficulty using it. Any reasons why you are looking for an alternative?

Depending on your own preferences, there might be some specifics that you are looking for and have to look for it elsewhere. But most of the data can be googled and found easily.

There is also the privacy issue that many users raise about putting your public address on these sites. But that address is public so people already know it, why bother?
236  Local / India / Re: Don't make too much assumptions and take loan! on: May 03, 2024, 05:49:45 PM
I still dont see the reason to take these risks and project the earning for the future, this is because the future is uncertain, not for bitcoin but you, your own health and life is never going to be running same. You dont want to hand over that debt to your next of kin in the midway do you?

Instead of thinking for the future, just buy bitcoin whenever its price drops and keep accumulating it. That is the most practical and safe method to grow your coins.
237  Local / India / Re: ED seize and possess funds from scam is new and unexpected! on: May 03, 2024, 05:47:02 PM
Yeah it seems that the exchanges mentioned in the topic were only being used as mule or dummy accounts to store the stolen funds in and those are the ones that have been seized, the exchanges have nothing bad to do with it.

Indeed this is just the tip of an iceberg of the rampant crypto related scams that were happening in the country at that time. Good to see that at least some of the scammers are facing the music.

Whether this will change the bank freezes or not, not sure. The government still was way more work to do in this sector.
238  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How my gambling life started. on: May 03, 2024, 04:46:22 PM
I wasn't really a gambler before; I was just jealous of my friend who often wins; he doesn't even gamble every day. It seems like in a month he only wins 2-3 times gambling,
which if I count the ones he won playing for 500-1000 dollars, the amount of his winning price ranges.
These type of encounters are common and are the usual events that lead up to people getting addicted to gambling. As long as you control that emotion of jealousy and pride and are able to control the greed it will not harm you, because you will only be playing for fun and not playing to make money. The second point is the thing that drives people to gamble - easy money. But it is not so for the players than it is for the casinos.

It might be worth experimenting to check what your friend feels about gambling today.
239  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: When is the best time to trade a Bitcoin on: May 03, 2024, 04:39:29 PM
As far as I know, the cryptocurrency market is barely affected by traditional financial markets such as stock markets, and you can't expect to have a pump or dump in Bitcoin's price or in the cryptocurrency market based on the opening or closing of those markets, and if someone sees something like that happening some day, it might be a coincidence and one should make a strategy out of that because if it doesn't happen all the time, the strategy might fail.
Usually there is no relation between them unless you are trying very hard and attempting to link them all, which leads to paranoid outcomes. While a big economic news will affect most markets in general, there are often contradictory movements among different asset classes.

Hence there is not best time to trade, but starting is important but waiting for the correct price to start as is also important. Stocks will not fluctuate that much as crypto does on a day to day basis. Starting it off is the most important thing though. Buy low and hold it for enough time to allow it to profit and then sell.
240  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do not get discouraged by the current price of Bitcoin on: May 03, 2024, 04:24:28 PM
Post halving events are certainly testing our patience a lot most particularly for beginners. And even if you fall from it, that’s still fine as long you will not repeat doing the same mistake again the next time you invest and hold for long term.
Post halving patience testing is one way to put it. Definitely this has been the least action mixed halving till date and people are thus panic selling or panic buying at the wrong times making the prices go haywire. However the overall movement has been positive as of todays date as bitcoin is climbing back up to 61k USD and moving in the greens. Still these movements are all temporary and opposite side movements will not be uncommon. This is one of the facts that bitcoin investors need to get in their heads. The short term volatility is high and panic or FOMO will only lead to bad outcomes.

The decision to invest or divest from bitcoin should be taken after long term charts viewing not just today and yesterday's price.
