Anyone know where you can purchase S9's for BTC other than directly from Bitmain for a decent price? I was looking for Avalon's and they all want double what they cost directly, but I can't get on a site to purchase an S9, T9 or a 741!

Hi Guys!

I have heard good things about kanopool, so I have decided to switch from slushpool. I did this yesterday. I am trying to get an understanding of how the pool works and the statistics I am looking at. The pool just found a block so maybe I will see some action start. Should I see that block and info under "rewards" because it is not displaying. Or do I have to have until it has "matured" to display?

Go back and read the last 15 or so pages. One of them will have a post describing the 5ND and how rewards are turned into payments and special case payments.

It takes around 3-4 days to ramp up to your baseline hash rate. Payments on a block are paid when 1. The block gets 101 confirmations 2. Another block is found. 3 Special payments are when kano tags a small Satoshi amount to see if the payment will go out before another block is found. If I got that right Smiley Amounts of payments will also very depending on the size of the block and how many transactions it has accumulated before being solved, I believe.

Lots of I believes, but I think I got most of them close to being right.

But to be blunt, the lower % pool hash rate has been caused by Bitmain.
Many miners, small, medium and large, have been unable to get the miners they wanted to buy for the last 6 months.
Bitmain has been building their farms and keeping their miners. They are the worst competition of everyone buying miners from them. When Bitmain sees it's a lot more profitable to mine than to sell miners, that's what happens.

Hopefully Canaan will have something to solve that soon Smiley

Isn't that the truth! And then when they do feel nice and release some for sale they sell them with a currency not a lot of people have, BCC and so they sit there, for sale and never sold.

Actually the pools luck has been VERY VERY bad for some time, several months now...

There is nothing like joining a new pool when they are having a stretch of high variance.

I've been mining at various levels and in various pools for about 3 years. If you look back at past block rewards on Kano you will see that there can be 35% variance month to month in a pool of this size. So for every month of 135% PPS there will be a month of 65% PPS. You're going to have to mine in a pool of this size far longer than a month for the stats to even out. We have recently put upwards of 1PH into the pool and the luck over the last 3 weeks or so has been fairly low. Combined with pretty much having to babysit the farm 24/7 in this ridiculous October heat wave in Virginia, it's certainly been a tough patch watching the machines run hour after hour, sometimes day after day with no block reward. But that's raw mining. When we decided to give up our nice daily payouts in a huge PPS+ pool for a small 90PH PPLNS pool we knew the variance would be very high and we did our payout estimations for 1 year of mining. At 1PH we hope to take 40BTC out of Kano over the next year and it doesn't really matter when or how it comes. We invested $185,000 into our tiny little farm, and we are banking all the coin mined and subsidising the monthly power consumption as an additional capital expense. We made sure when we did this that those operational costs would be covered so it would not be necessary to cash out BTC along the way to pay for them. We've invested a great deal of resources into this and our choice to point our hash at Kano was far from arbitrary or based on past performance or favorable reports from other members. We didn't do it thinking we would 'try it out and see what happens over the next couple of weeks'. Here's our little PitA farm:

I have mined in slush and other PPLNS pools for periods of time before and their variance is just as high, it just gets evened out by the more frequent blocks at lower rewards. There is a point where a pool becomes so small relative to the total that payout variance will exceed any reasonable time frame set for a mining return but Kano is far from that level. While there is no guarantee, I hope Kano to give us a 2-3% higher return than in a PPS pool over the next year. I would suggest that it is not the math that is a problem, but the expectation of immediate results. I've run a few businesses over the years, and you have to have a certain focus to endure large capital expenditures that result in losses for 2, maybe 3 years before the business actually turns a profit and then takes 3 more years to recoupe the original capital expenditures and losses. Mining is very much the same way.

If you need more regular, smaller payouts, this is probably not the pool for you. Time is money for sure, but that too is relative. Playing the long game has always been the winner in my experience. Patience bro, patience.

Hey, just my two cents.  Roll Eyes

I agree!

Nice farm, wish I had one Smiley

so I will not get anything before 1 month or ??  I have kinda low Hashrate, 78.Th

I am thinking if you go back, oh 10 pages and read each post, you will know how the system works. If not, then you're well I'll be nice Smiley

This new difficulty increase seems to have impacted block results a bit, sigh.

Slightly ot, so if kano would prefer dm replies, please do it that way, but it's something that has been discussed here before... Now that viabtc is gone, is there another transaction accelerator that any of you have had success with? Consolidation time here.

?

Seems to be up.

Hmmm, I have an android phone, I will look for the app.  The only problem is that I live 2500 miles from the nearest cell phone service, so the phone pretty much stays in a drawer until I go on my annual vacation back to the real world.  A lot will work through Wi-Fi, though, so maybe I can give it a shot.

EDIT: Okay, I can't find the app.  What is it called on Android?  Is it CK Pool? Do you get it from Google Play?

Where do you live, if you don't mind me asking!

Block time here is no different here than any other pool.  Expected luck is always 100%. Smiley

At current difficulty, good for another day or so, 38TH/s should generate about 0.0089304 BTC a day.  One thing about mining here is tx fees are also divvied up among the miners.

M

I have 50/TH and I do not get that much:

Sept 29th: 0.02251825

I'm not entirely sure what you're saying?  0.02251825 is quite a bit greater than 0.0089304.

M

I read it as 0.08.... Sorry lol. I was like 0.08 yeah right! What am I doing wrong!

Thank you for the replies.  I am looking at this page, which shows blocks hit on Kano: https://kano.is/index.php?k=pblocks.

If I do a bit of rough math in my head, it appears that the pool hits an average of 2 blocks per day with a payout of about .0001 BTC per TH/s per block.

With about 38 TH/s that would come to approximately .0038 BTC per block or .0076 BTC per day, assuming 2 blocks per day?

Is my math close or am I way off?

Thanks!  Smiley

I am not knocking the 90+PH we have now, but I, me personally, liked it better when we had 75. It SEEMED like we got more blocks and I got paid more Smiley

So now, with our 92-94'ish I expect more blacks to compensate for less BTC!

So if it takes many Goddesses, let's get them out there!

Noob question here, but is it OK if I change my payout address to my kraken account? I've heard a couple of you guys say its better to have a payout address to an exchange rather than a wallet. Is this true?

Yeah, I believe if you send it to a place like Coinbase, they consolidate it so when you send it other placed it costs less to send it. But Coinbase isn't an exchange as in you don't trade currencies like you could in Poloniex, Kraken et cetera. But from my experience, sending to Poloniex can result in delays and missing transactions. I used to have mine sent to a Bitcoin Core but the application kept having issues, had to restore et cetera. so I now just have my rewards sent to Coinbase and if I want to do some trading I send some to Poloniex/Kraken et cetera.
