2201  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think 1.00 BTC will worth more than $10,000.00 USD at any time in 2015? on: March 23, 2015, 06:37:12 PM
Well, a quarter of the year is nearly in the books.  Let's all take a deep breath and not think about 4 or 5 figure amounts for Bitcoin right now.

Unless some of you are in a retirement home or terminally ill, we all have plenty of time to wait this thing out.  Collectively, we all have to see Bitcoin not as a lottery ticket or IPO that'll go through the roof, but as the future of money.  Sure it'd be fun to see the price pump to the moon, but we should think of more modest or realistic goals for 2015, like crossing 300 and staying there.

Finally scanning threw i find a post without dreaming of the the riches that may or may not come, more than likely not cot come and definitely not this year.

The trick i have found is to appreciate the time we are in, in the moment we are in it so at the moment i appreciate that i am lucky enough to buy a small amount of Bitcoin each month at a cheap rate to trade and can gain more holdings before some crazy rise that may come in the future.

We are all very lucky to be part of this and as above says we just need to realise this 'could' be the future of money we are part of less not wish it to soon, will come when it is good and ready  Cool

Exactly, right.  For all the people that are speculators, investors, dreamers, believers...if you have even an inkling or an urge that this technology can be disruptive (And by all the curiousity and research by IBM and Intel, Bank of England, NYSE, Goldman, Credit Suisse, etc etc looks like it will), then you just have to get involved now.  Get in while you still can at this relatively discount price.

Now I'm not saying to put your life savings, boat, home mortgage, or mistresses allowance towards it, but you gotta have a little stake in it for Bitcoin to work.  We need people that actually BUY, HODL, and spend a little, but then replenish after.  Basically use Gyft and Brawker.  Print out some paper wallets, and give away small amounts to friends and family that you can explain Bitcoin to without it getting used as toilet paper to your face.  Changetip your hipster artist friend that has a Youtube channel, so that they can start accepting Bitcoin for all the creations and viral videos they put up.  Be your own Laszlo, and convince the Comic Book Guy at the comic book store to start accepting BTC for his business.

Basically, we're all apart of this ecosystem, and we can all do our part to help this grow organically.

TLDR BUY, HODL, and use it!  Don't dream about it, be about it.  Do your part.
2202  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 3 stages for bitcoin on: March 23, 2015, 06:15:46 PM
If we need to reach 1 billion users to reach Stage 2, we're no where close to this 10-15 year roadmap.

We barely have 2 million active users worldwide right now, and will barely crack 5 million by 2019:

http://www.cnbc.com/id/102512655

Need to cool it with the 1 billion users, let's keep our 2 million users and grow it from there...
2203  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoiner is climbing Everest and will put a Bitcoin flag almost on the top on: March 23, 2015, 06:10:08 PM
That's the scraggliest looking fugliest flag ever.  Doesn't represent Bitcoin or it's community very well at all.

I mean, I appreciate the overall gesture and idea, but the execution leaves alot to be desired even if he reaches the peak...

It really looks like something I'd wipe my ass with!   Cry

The Grand Unified Theory of "why bad things happen to stupid people":

"It's all done by one guy.  We haz 2 pioneered some disruptive technologyz to banned he!!1"
Well, Stolfi isn't you. Some of the quieter bears are not you either. YourMother might be your role-playing account, writes slightly differently and posts slightly different images.

So 2-3 guys on Bitcointalk have successfully imploded the BTC price?
Such Antifragile!  Wow.

no 1 guy and 5 or 6 sock puppets  have successfully imploded the BTC price...

wait thats even worse!

is bitcoin dead?

Damit, it's Guppy Club crashing the price again!   Angry

2205  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Millionaire" is a fiat-based term on: March 23, 2015, 04:48:14 PM
Forget fiat Millionaire, I want to be a Bitcoin Billionaire!!!

Realistically will probably never happen to me, but that game is highly addictive and funny!
2206  Economy / Speculation / Re: Memespeculation on: March 23, 2015, 04:31:53 PM
For all the Bitcoin miners turned speculators out there:

2207  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: The difficulty HAS BEEN REDUCED!!!! on: March 23, 2015, 03:59:05 PM
Hi,

Do you think that investing in hardware now would make sense?

I am interested in mining but have no experience.

Sense?  Only if you have free unlimited solar power, free cooling from the Antartic winds, and a warehouse or co-lo center passed on to you by inheritance somehow:

Nice work there, fighow!  Need more people to break it down like this "dummies" style for the masses.

Especially love the brainwallet section on Page 16:

Sounds silly, but you know some fool out there is using "fuck you" as a brain wallet.
2210  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ok So I Just Sent £1000 of BTC to a Friend in Northern Namibia.. Now What? on: March 23, 2015, 03:30:14 PM
It's too bad there's no service like Bitpesa yet in Namibia like there is in Kenya and Tanzania:

https://www.bitpesa.co/

That'd make it really easy, if they'd did it the mobile money way like Kenya started with M-Pesa...
2211  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Complete the sentence... [I would buy Bitcoin because..] on: March 23, 2015, 02:56:21 PM
I would buy Bitcoin because..in the near future NFC and Biometric checkouts will be standard for both in person and online merchants.  With a touch on my phone, watch, or smart card, everything will be paid for digitally.  No need for leather wallets with bulky credit/debit cards and paper cash anymore!

And Bitcoin over banking, credit, paypal, facebook back ends, because once these people using Apple Pay and Facebook messenger pay realize that are still fees associated and up to 3 day waiting time with those archaic payment methods, they gonna dump that shit in the toilet like yesterday's dinner:

2212  Other / Off-topic / Re: Complete the sentence... "I would sell all my Bitcoins if..." on: March 23, 2015, 02:12:02 PM
I would sell all my Bitcoins if...I somehow knew an EMP strike was headed to the US.

I'd have to load up on weaponry with the sold BTC beforehand, to ensure my loved ones were safe from the ensuing chaos and apocalyptic conditions that are sure to follow.
2213  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen. on: March 23, 2015, 12:57:32 PM
Ahh the wealthy elite thread!  It always brings a grin to my face during this tough period of growth.

Knowing so many others are in the same boat, waiting for Bitcoin to develop...

2214  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Good site to buy Bitcoins with debit/credit card? on: March 23, 2015, 12:52:26 PM
I believe Coinbase is a great option when it comes to buying (and selling) Bitcoins. Coinbase seems to be in many countries (https://www.coinbase.com/global). But of course, take a look at every other option too.

Yup, Coinbase serves 24 countries so far:

Relatively quick growth for a startup from a few years ago.  And they're adding more and more countries, so if your country isn't listed, it's probably just a matter of time.
2215  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 23, 2015, 12:48:36 PM
it would be great to reach 300 this week.

Would be great but I'm losing optimism atm.
Getting a bit despondent with BTC lately.
You're probably tired. Find a way to recharge your batteries.

It's called fatigue or exhaustion for both long and short positions.

Take a break, maybe a week or 2, wait for any developments, then come back once you're refreshed.
2216  Other / Off-topic / Re: whale club is a joke on: March 23, 2015, 12:45:50 PM
OP, at least link to the original article so people know what the heck you're talking about:

http://www.coindesk.com/inside-whale-club-the-trading-room-that-loves-bitcoin-price-declines/

They might think you're talking about a fan club for whale watching, not a Bitcoin investing or trading group.

2217  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Pizza for bitcoins? on: March 20, 2015, 04:22:11 PM
Oh really? A pizza sold for 10000 Bitcoins? That guy must be rolling in it now.

Lol unfortunately neither party, buyer or seller of pizza is rolling in it now.

Bitcoin's price at the time was in the penny range, so I doubt either have that stashed away right now.

I beg to differ:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=109.msg5144580#msg5144580

Guess the pizza seller actually did make out.

Lazlo pretty much said he didn't keep any of his stash from back then:

I spent it all on pizza long ago:  https://blockchain.info/address/1XPTgDRhN8RFnzniWCddobD9iKZatrvH4

3-4 years ago there were less than 100 people frequenting this forum, and I was pretty happy to trade 10,000 coins for pizza.  I mean people can say I'm stupid, but it was a great deal at the time.  I don't think anyone could have known it would take off like this. Smiley

2218  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Winklevoss Twins Is At It Again on: March 20, 2015, 04:08:57 PM
You're already starting to see some signs of this happening, with Apple Pay, Paypal, Venmo, Snapcash, and Facebook Messenger.  The message that they're saying isn't far off.  10 years is really really aggressive, but with the advent of NFC on smart phones and biometric technology, I sure wouldn't bet against them.

I'm pretty sure the manufacturers of 8 tracks, vinyl records, VCR's, VHS tapes and Beta Max tapes, cassette tapes, floppy disks, zip drives, palm pilots, beepers and pagers, blackberries, soon to be CD's and DVD's never thought they'd go out of business either....
2219  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What hardware brought you ROI and some profit? on: March 20, 2015, 02:22:02 PM
Only hardware that brought me direct ROI before resell is the original Antminer s1:

That thing belongs in the museum of natural cryptography or something.  Anyone that bought these late 2013-early 2014 ROI'ed...sweetest 6-8 months ASIC mining I ever did... Cry

Today is friggin' dead in here!  Where are all the bear trolls at?

We need some moon or train pics to get this place started...
