you are going to pick up your device, or why does primeasic not charge any shipping costs?

The idea is to view a working product prior to paying for it.

Once its validated then I will pay full for 1 unit.

And yes I wish to pick it up rather then have it shipped.

The idea is opposite - In order to have privilege  to pick it up you have to pay it first Wink

If "Real" I can understand their hesitation. Therefore I have provided further details in order to safe guard them.

However when dealing with any fly by night business the policy should be pay in person in cash or (BTC).

I am buying one of these if/when Avalon officially state that they are real no other way for me:) No forum posts no happy customers no videos
The right way to go is Avalon to name them as their EU distributor officially

2203  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch 1- Who got tracking? on: March 07, 2013, 12:31:13 PM
Time to check again?

this waiting is even worst than waiting bASIC refund...
what is killing me is the silence but let us hope that no news are good news. Besides i really do need to have the invoice because of the custom procedures and silense about invoices is very bad...
Just a side question for EU customers - how are you going to deal with customs not having the invoice upfront? It can bring a lot of complication and additional expenses/delays because of that in my country.

Most likely will pay customs + vat, no more, no less
Most likely if the name in the invoice is wrong it can be treated as double purpose crypto  equipment and big shit can happen
2204  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: PrimeAsic - 80 Ghash/sec Asic Miner on: March 07, 2013, 12:21:05 PM
I guess these guys are just trying to get as many orders as possible before we discover on Monday that no ASIC existe in Hungary. Came'on guys. We all like to gamble, but let's don't make it too easy for scammers. Red flags everywhere, 0.001% possibilities this is for real, but anyhow I'm sure they will cash orders during today/tomorrow/the weekend because some people are too anxiously greedy to think clearly.
+1
Think first act next:)
It is not the end of the world anyway:)
We will soon find out. If they are real i will go for it also but i am not doing it blindly just to be first on the list. A couple of days making a profit of 150-200 Euros does not worth it for me
Something is not making sense
Amusing this is AVALON with 4 PCBs populated and they got about 30-40% discount price seems a bit low for me to attractive to be true. They need case PSU > 850W and so on and so on.
Making only about 10% 100 Euro profit per unit seems just not real for the investment and the risk taken

2206  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon Asic Update March 1st on: March 06, 2013, 07:25:24 PM
Has anyone outside of China gotten a tracking number yet?
any news there?

Seems no. Probably the day will be tomorrow. If we get a copy of the invoices which are traveling with packages it will make my day!

Thank you Doc!
It makes sense.By the way as far as i think cgminer developers prefer stratum instead of GBT and probably cgminer GBT support is not so well developed as stratum is. What are you suggesting to be better with bitminter GBT or Stratum? GBT is using more ram in general which can hurt embedded platforms. Anyway i am all ears:)

Doc,

Are there any recent changes to the pool - mining part?

Cgminer 2.11.0 refuses to connect too pool with stratum unless url is explicitly configured as:

stratum+tcp://eu1.bitminter.com:3333

Otherwise it uses GBT

It happened about an hour ago or so

PS: now all is fine strange http://mint.bitminter.com:8332 works again
2209  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: PrimeAsic - a 4 unit Avalon..? on: March 05, 2013, 06:52:16 PM
Maybe this is were a majority of the batch 1 preorders went and they are just reselling them =P HAHA

Not possible or at least highly unlikely. Stats don't match. Where did the seller get those extra modules that put him at 80GH/device.
He just ordered 2+ units and assembled one with four modules populated. Does not seem to be very hard, does it?

That would fall into category "highly unlikely". That is possible and one option yes, but what's the point? Having several devices with four modules for resale purpose and keeping all those that have only two. Makes no sense.
That would be one approach convincing the pubilc they have a product. They are the only ones to know it is just one but who cares:)
Second option  (Unlikely) They made big bulk order 100+ Avalons with discount and are reselling them

Is there a way to configure a failover gateway in this build of openWRT?
Yes via shell script as add on. You can do whatever you want:)
There is no buildin recipe to solve every problem but it is open source and you can take advantage of it and find a solution
2212  Bitcoin / Hardware / Avalon batch 1- Who got tracking? on: March 04, 2013, 08:40:53 PM
Guys,
Let us keep track of sent tracking numbers over email. Who got tracking? Anyone?

Please let us keep this topic clean.

2213  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My Impression of Avalon Machine (cooling info updated) on: March 04, 2013, 11:44:40 AM

but anyway, "no_matching_work" in stats api should be 0, or you may want to check the same issue.

---

simply, the current communication protocol / the controller? is not capable of doing error correction.
flip a bit may really cause big problem.

Super! Can you be more specific about how big problem can be?

I guess that controller has own Firmware/Software and it can be upgraded some time in the feature is that correct?

10X xiangfu!

My 8M image with chip is waitng for the unit - with latest Avalon cgminer branch. Just for the record does soft restart of cgminer solves the potential issues or Power off/on is required?
I think it is a strange single? problem worth fixing, but you may never experience if you're lucky ... I mean, you should do enough monitoring, prepare for the worst. most of times power cycle is not required. if the machine needs power cycle, the light on the back of the fan will become red.

Anyway I do have snmp power relay switch so i can plug off/on power when i need to automatically:)

Thank you very much for your response techwtf:)

I would like to see that snmp power switch!

There is a cron job monitor the cgminer: (compare the Accepted every 5mins, if there is no Accepted in 5mins. restart the cgminer)
   https://github.com/BitSyncom/cgminer-openwrt-packages/blob/master/cgminer/files/cgminer-monitor

Can you paste the cgminer log.  remove the '-q'. add '-D --verbose > /tmp/cgminer.log' under /etc/init.d/cgminer. and the 'dmsg' output.

You may want update to latest 703n image:
  http://downloads.qi-hardware.com/people/xiangfu/avalon/openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr703n-v1-squashfs-factory-20130225.bin

ChangeLog is here:

general i am interested to know the following:
1. Is there automated way (via script locally) to find out for sure that avalon is not hashing
2. Only power off/on solves the problem or soft reboot from the script will do the job?

techwtf,

Is there a free unpopulated usb port on the internal usb hub?
I wanna install 3G as backup so i am wondering if i shall prepare additional usb hub or built-in one will be just fine?

10X

PS: How about instability issues are they fixed with latest images?

1: yes, 4 total, 3 remaining.
2: you should use another router as upstream.
3: running & capturing debug info, if the problem appear again, related info will be submitted to xiangfu for more investigation. I do hope I can remove the monitoring script above.

Thanks!

I will use same router:)

I will install 3g USb outside the box
3g ppp interface will be up all the time and when internet dies a script will change default route only Smiley
There are no hanging issues currently right?

CloudFlare is dead in the water. Unfortunately we use them for DNS, so you can't look up any bitminter.com hostnames right now.

Some miners are still at the pool mining. You can use 176.9.104.178 instead of mint.bitminter.com and keep mining. But remember to change it back once things are in order again, otherwise things won't work the next time the mining server moves.

I hope CloudFlare will get their systems up shortly.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

I don't think the problem was with bitminter.  A HUGE number of websites just became unaccessible recently.  A few people in my chat (in different countries/continents) were having the same issue loading a significant number of websites (including sites like ozcoin, blockchain.info, bitfunder, and even imgur).

Dude,
The site is OK and server also DNS is broken which means that after some time usaly up to 8 hours you will be not able to resolve the site ip and it will look like site never existed.  I do not know about other sites mentioned:)
