2221  Other / Off-topic / Re: My View on Brand-Newbies to Legendary Members in the Forum on: August 05, 2022, 01:16:30 PM
Don't judge someone's knowledge of bitcoin and bitcointalk from their ranks because there are lot of exceptions to explain the ranks is not actually determine everything, just go to the technical board where you see low ranked members who have more knowledge about how bitcoin things works than some random legendary posting in bounties or altcoin board.

There is something quite unique about those newbie accounts, you will notice that those accounts who once in a while post in bitcoin technical support and development and technical discussions get merited by legendary because they know how valuable their contributions are in all those area and even with the merits earned, they don't increase their activity to increase their ranks, they are always fine with giving accurate replies to technical questions and mistakes users do post, they don't even value signature space and they are cool with. There are even users who go to the length of ignoring posts of signature participants.
2222  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Self-custody isn’t for everyone: WisdomTree exec on ‘be your own bank’ on: August 05, 2022, 12:14:24 PM
The major set back of cold wallets is early awareness and lack of real custody education on what self custody is all about. I was more surprised that CZ was making fun of Celsius the other day when they refused to allow users gain access their bitcoin and other Altcoins and he was furiously making binance as an alternative for people who are victims. Well, I expected that from him, many people regards him as most trusted but an exchange will be the least place I will want to leave my bitcoin on, I will rather opt for a hot wallets instead of doing that kind of mistake, I know is silly knowing that a hot wallet could be compromised but it is more foolish doing for exchange.

Self custody save from many things, you sleep with ease knowing your bitcoin isn't on anyone care but you, you don't have to worry about security because you're your own security, you manage and spend anytime you like without anyone authorizing it and lastly you don't have to worry when there is exchange security bridge on media.
2223  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Need Advice on Purchasing Bitcoin (not financial advice) on: August 04, 2022, 02:48:46 PM
You will see why I said not financial advice in a moment. This is a "what would you do question." I have been a several year bitcoin purchaser, but I have a sister that I gently tried to orange peel in the past. She was interested and amazed at BTC, but feels that she cant afford to put even $5 a week aside. I had an extra hardware wallet and put $100 worth of BTC on the wallet and considered it hers. I have this idea planted in my head to gift her .01 BTC which makes her a satoshi millionaire and then leave the rest to her to add to it if she wants to. lol. She is a single mom with 2 children and a live in boyfriend.

Don't force people to buy bitcoin, she understands what bitcoin is all about but she is afraid, if she doesn't feel comfortable living her $5 in bitcoin, you shouldn't go to any length to make her do it by force. The fact that she is a single mother and not financially stable and lives with her boyfriend doesn't mean bitcoin will elevate her from that position either.

If you genuinely want to gift her a bitcoin, then do it for the purpose you have intended, gifts are surprises. I'm sure that she will be stunned when you handed her that hardware wallet that contains bitcoin, who knows this will give her more encouragement to start buying and add more sats to the one you wanted to gift her. Try it, it might be worth all your effort trying to convince her.
2224  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is crypto going up after the news of being in a recession? on: August 04, 2022, 01:26:31 PM
I know that the crypto market is dynamic but something seems off as I have observed lately. Ever since bitcoin has been making a lower low on daily and Weekly timeframe, no single good news has happened that is so strong to change the way of making to being bullish. I remember the early days of last year when the bull run started, it was good news every month back to back, and the market was so super high that there was no single negativity on the market but today, it is now the opposite. If they didn't steal money from a decentralized protocol, they will become insolvent, wallets hacked, tokens being swept from a pool and many more. I just felt that this is not normal, either it is deliberately done to scare small retailers or pure manipulation to tank the prices.
2225  Economy / Economics / Re: Social media, now looking more for business than for socializing. on: August 04, 2022, 01:13:00 PM
Do you think social media is now becoming more a place for business than socializing, Could it be as a result of digitalization and things moving online or more people now starting business online because of need to somehow generate income or another source of income for self to survive the economic situations which is becoming tougher?

What is social a platform without revenue? For how long do you think they are going to pay the employees, how do you think they are going to keep the server running, and how long do you think they can continue to fund the social platforms from their own pockets? There is a need for an alternative, is either the users pay for premium service to keep it running or they allow the company personalized as an advert to them which of course will break their privacy.

Recently, Netflix announced that they will not just subscriptions mandatory for their customers, they will also be running ads on it in other to generate more revenue for the company, though it backfires because a lot of customers lose interest and for that reason, their shares drop drastically.
2226  Economy / Economics / Re: Are we hodling BTC or we are hodling Fiat?? on: August 04, 2022, 11:37:54 AM
Been that Bitcoin is not backed by any centralized authority, community or asset, it is therefore wise first as a currency and not as a store of value; especially for salary earners in developing countries, low income earners and those who live on wages.
Because to be profitable in BTC investment, one must be a high salary earner who invests with money that has no future need, with reasons that volatility will always be a key player as long as BTC exists.

This is so wrong, the perception and narrative of bitcoin are quite different from that of 2009 with today. Bitcoin is a store of value and that's one of the driving forces for micro strategies, the reason why they are in bitcoin now, that was why Tesla also came aboard and later sold because they needed fiats for some stability.
You don't have to be rich to invest in bitcoin, this is why they are in sats, you can purchase any amount you have without being a high salary earner.

Quote
In my opinion, BTC volatility is a powerful market wave that should keep investors in profit especially with DCA method. because if price is the major concern over the amount of BTC an investor is able to gather as prices keep fluctuating, it invariably means it is fiat he is holding and not BTC.
It will only be regarded as BTC holding if every price wave adds to it.

Anyone can buy and sell bitcoin, it doesn't matter, it is a free market and that is why DCA is one of the best ways to keep stashing sats, it increases your portfolio and has the advantage of buying at different prices at the end of the day, your buy is always average and when you will enjoy it there is a price increase or bull run.
Keep holding or continue to add to your portfolio.
2227  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Educational: Breaking misconceptions about market crashs on: August 04, 2022, 11:18:17 AM
Shitcoins are a well-known substitute for people who are always searching for quick profits, they are purchased at low prices in anticipation of a short-term price pump or increase. When this occurs, the majority of them typically collapse or drop, and it takes the strength of the project's product to see the ATH price again, the hype also plays a role in making it to the previous high sometimes. When this crash happens, they do directly or indirectly affect bitcoin especially when there are millions and billions involved, this reminds me of LUNA.

Altcoins are not the only element that contributes to bear market periods, although they do most of the time. Traditional markets such as the SP500 and NASDAQ also have an impact on the movement of Bitcoin, not to mention inflation and recession.
2228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Satoshi is not dead, what is he doing? on: August 02, 2022, 08:38:06 PM
After reading so many topics that discuss who satoshi could be and why he would leave bitcoin from one day to another it made me think: What is he doing these days? It is really unlikely that he never ever came back to the forum again, just to read and look at the progress. Also it seems likely that he had at least one alt account that may even be sill active.

I'm very sure that if Satoshi should resurface and prove that he is alive, a lot of things are going to happen which will not end well for everyone in the market, have you noticed that anytime an old wallet addresses that were last active in 10 years back spend a single bitcoin, traders began to speculate and sell or close their position because they fear that he(satoshi) will dump his bags on them to gain access to the liquidity.
Another reason why I think satoshi might want to remain anonymous could also be because the government will want him, they will want to hear a lot of answers, it is better things remain like this, not as if he did bitcoin alone, there has been lots of improvement since he was last seen online.
2229  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto in Church. on: August 02, 2022, 08:12:44 PM

If this is all about bitcoin, a more than a welcome idea, people will get to know bitcoin even if they don't have the means to buy it now, the awareness will expose people to know that there is an alternative to their fiat money and nobody can restrict them when they want to use it but my problem with this kind of gathering is that they wouldn't tell them the necessary things they need to hear. I will be more than happy if they will tell them how their privacy is preserved to at least a bearest minimum, but you may be disappointed that among them, someone is there that prefers a PIE shitcoin to bitcoin because of what they read online.
2230  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Government Owned Online Casinos What Do You Think Of Its Potential on: August 02, 2022, 03:26:52 PM
People don't trust the government anymore. Isn't that why bitcoin was created in the first place? With everything going on in the world they'd prefer to visit a casino not owned by the government. I think the role of the government here should simply be that of regulating the gambling industry. Just like the Netherlands, Australia and the UK are already doing.

Macau is well-known to house many casinos and they are mostly physical houses where people play, this is one of their big revenue purses to fund the country and the ones they launched online arent bitcoin base casino, looking at how the government are anti-bitcoin, they wouldn't want to add bitcoin except the ones that aren't funded by the government.
I wouldn't advise anyone to even trust the government for once if they allow bitcoin to be used in their casino, but if they embrace it as legal tender, then why not, I will be happy to play with them. I will like to see a country like El Salvador do something like this but should be Bitcoin to allow more of its adoption.
2231  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Gambling companies can get more users to deposit. on: August 02, 2022, 03:09:23 PM
Gambling sites with no promotion, giveaways, and any kind of bonuses are also having huge bankroll as per the stats so the priority on the list is the trust as I said but these bonus, events and others are just contributing for making the people to deposit more money than they actually planned to do.
Without any promotions, giveaways and bonuses, nothing will make people deposit any more money, making the casino lose its profit potential. Sometimes if the casino already has a good reputation, people will not see any promotions or bonuses because they have made the casino a comfortable place to play. In addition, people who are used to playing in that casino will remain loyal customers for the casino because they have not had a bad experience at that casino.

You guys aren't specific with the promotion duration and giveaways, there are some casinos that have done so many giveaways and promotions and have reached their peak with a good reputation and still have more customers that are checking in, they only do giveaways when there is an interesting event to drive people to play in their casino and not frequently, every promotion should have an effect on the purpose it is used for else they will also run on losses.
I feel the agitation for every Casino to make KYC-less will attract more customers, no player would want his money to be stuck because they can't or don't want to provide any documents, this move will help if it can really work.
2232  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: August 02, 2022, 02:43:40 PM
that's what often happens when a good player moves to a new club there will be a lot of expectations placed on him and unfortunately with just a few appearances it is immediately concluded that he is a successful player at his new club or not, there are 38 league games and other competitions and that will be enough for Haaland to be able to develop if he is truly a star
Haaland still has a long way to go at Man City and it's not a bad start. It's true he needs to adapt and it will take a lot of time to adapt to Man City style of play. So not too worried when the perception of him playing well at his previous club. This is normal when at Dortmund at first it wasn't much different, right?
I believe Haaland will thrive under Pep Guardiola who could easily create the character of a Haaland at a new club.

I think a similar thing happen to most of the top players, we saw how emotional Messi was during his transfer from Barcelona to PSG, and Ronaldo's transfer from Juventus to Manchester United but they haven't done something significant like they used to in the past, the attention is fading away though the past performance is still helping them keep to the news and media without any of their league and Champions League. Messi was fair and Ronaldo was poor, I hope this change this time, I want this season to be spicier, more competitive and entertaining.
2233  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casinos You're Playing That Are not On This Forum on: August 02, 2022, 02:19:36 PM
I have only tried physical sportsbooks shops and non-blockchain casinos that are well regulated, any other that is not here isn't enough to convince me to play with them.
If a player has been using any of them and haven't experienced any sort of cheating, that's fine but I will have more peace of mind if the casino I'm playing has an announcement thread in this forum so that when anything happens, I don't have to be running up and down to contact their support in social channels. One of the reasons why I will also like the thread here is that in case of any future accusation, also know how they are been resolved. This will give me more confidence that my balance is saved even when I don't like the idea of leaving funds in centralized environments.
2234  Economy / Gambling / Re: FORTUNEJACK.COM |Deposit 777 play with 1777 mBTC |Live Casino, Slots, Betting on: August 02, 2022, 09:16:13 AM
The season is here again and I have decided to give Fortunejack some shot to get ready for the Leagues with their sportsbook but I'm not happy that my country is restricted. I have managed to use VPN to break that but I'm still facing some difficulty. My Mobile number has refused to verify, I'm not receiving the OTP to bypass verification, I don't know if it is my network provider but I have changed the Mobile Number with a different network provider and I'm yet to get the OTP. Are there any solution to this or is this a result of my country restriction?
Another question, will KYC be require in the future when I want to withdraw?
2235  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it profitable to hedge/cashout bets before end of sport event? on: August 02, 2022, 09:01:13 AM
Personally, I rarely use the cashout option, but still, this option is sometimes useful. Situations in some sports events can be very dynamic and it is good to be able to cashout when, for example, in the last match on the coupon your team is not doing well. Sometimes it benefits the player, sometimes the bookmaker.

You wouldn't know how valuable a cashout option is until you have plenty of matches that are in order with one unknown outcomes yet to be played or in the process. Cashout is helpful when plenty of games you find difficult to predict goes as you planned only for the last match to be doing the opposite, you wouldn't have a choice than to cashout the predicted you already known. However, I don't like the downside of it because your winnings will be slash leaving you with a few bucks. I know it's a favour from Bookmakers for letting you have an option to cash out instead of waiting for the last game and getting disappointed but they should be fair and remove just the last odd and not take almost half of your win.
2236  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Warning] 10.w88hash.vip Suspicious gambling website. on: July 31, 2022, 06:40:02 PM
The website is very bad in design, and the UI/UX doesn't depict a serious organization that wants to produce anything practical, and the input forms are likewise bad. Aside from the fact that the website is registered a few weeks ago, the VIP Top-level domain is a red flag, they are incredibly cheap to put up, which is why they maintain operating such scam platforms over and again in case they are reported or deleted.
The website also has a download APP at the top of the page, which keeps redirecting me to a danger site, that is another red flag, everything on this website, including the owner, is fake.
2237  Economy / Gambling / Re: Question for regular casino players. Will you use Lightning if available? on: July 31, 2022, 06:11:03 PM
Good enough to an extent bitcoin has been made simplified forbuser to easily navigate through and make transactions but nevertheless we cannot wave away the need to learning the basics in performing these, because some mistakes are not correctible and may cost the gambler, also having this blend with the lightening network makes it more easier for users interested in that, it will always provide with the norms just as expected in gambling.

Unless in the unusual scenario of alterations in an invoice, which I don't think will happen to anybody except when someone's keyboard has been compromised by a keylogger, the lightning network does not have the complicated environment that will constantly cause users to make mistakes.
The lightning network saves a lot of fees, and this will save a lot of fees for both the player and the casino, but I feel that casinos with fixed withdrawal fees will not do this since they won't be able to receive that cuts from players again.
2238  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: July 31, 2022, 05:40:47 PM
The starting lineup for Manchester United's final preseason game against Rayo Vallecano in has been announced; Cristiano Ronaldo and Christian Eriksen are in the front half of the lineup.
United supporters will provide live support at the Theater of Dreams before their Premier League opener against Brighton & Hove Albion next Sunday and this will be Erik ten Hag's first game at home.
The lineup for games against Vallecano includes Heaton, Laird, Varane, Martinez, Telles, Van de Beek, Garner, Chong, Eriksen, Garnacho, and Ronaldo.

With all the excitement surrounding Ronaldo's return to Old Trafford and the standing ovation he received from supporters, there was little to show off even in preseason. If it hadn't been for Amad's substitution, they would have lost by 0-1 against Rayo Vallecano.
If Erik is so confident in him, why was he replaced by Amad? Was it because he hadn't been practising to understand how the other players had developed over the previous weeks, or was it just a random choice? Ronaldo wasn't happy about that because he even left right before the last minute of the match.
2239  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The characteristics of people who are addicted to online gambling on: July 31, 2022, 05:06:05 PM
It not difficult to know if someone is addicted to gambling. There are some characters that an addicted gambler will portray and you will definitely know that he is an addicted gambler. One character in them is that they don't leave the gambling hall.Anyone who is addicted to gambler will not leave where they gamble, they are always there. They use every little money they have to gamble hoping that one day it will favour them. The moment you this see people like this, then have in mind that the person is an addict.

Have you ever observed a silent form of underage gambling addict? I'm referring to the introvert who normally completes all tasks at home before leaving discreetly to visit friends and then going to a sportsbook to place bets on different games, this is even an example of physical betting outlets. Some of them used credit cards to make deposits without their parent's consent and play online and now that some Bitcoin casinos don't require fiat and anyone can withdraw their money anonymously without completing any KYC. These kinds of people are very difficult to notice with some characteristics especially if they are the smart ones and also fear their parents because they will always hide things from their parents.
2240  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Looking to start an online casino on: July 31, 2022, 10:30:16 AM
I have a background in coding, and I know the in and outs of integrating crypto, yet i have zero game development skills, and i have no idea how much it will cost, and will it even get users.

Online casino is indeed a good business but it's not that easy to build it even if you are knowledgeable in coding. Even if you manage to create the website alone and get it a license, you will need other staffs that will help you to manage the platform. You will need to think of marketing strategies on how to attract users on your website. You will also need a customer support that will cater to the issues that your users will experience.

Above all, initial capital is the most important. No casino can run efficiently without the flow of funds at the beginning, they must pay their employees, support promotions and marketing, and pay out player winnings. If this is not addressed appropriately, the casino may go bankrupt within its first month.

Simply looking at the launch of a casino will show you that a welcome bonus of 200% is being used to lure new players, the smart players know how to use this effectively and always win at all costs.  Now, tell me how the will casino survives with excess bonuses and wins of players, that's the period they begin to play fowl games and begin their bad reputation, most often than not, such casinos usually fold up.
