2241  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What can we do, should do, or not do as Bitcoin supporters at this time? on: June 08, 2023, 06:38:21 PM
There is not much you can do besides advising those you know who are holding bitcoin to not panic-sell because the SEC is suing a few crypto exchanges. Bitcoin being the enemy of governments worldwide is nothing new, and we are all aware of it already. They simply don't want you to be financially independent. Financially independent means freedom. And when you are free, you start asking questions and question authority. That's not what they want.

Keep your bitcoin to yourself, use P2P modes of trading if you can, or try out decentralized variants. If you must use a CEX, go in and out. The name of the game is quick exchange and withdraw.
2242  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Recovery - Send your (encrypted) recovery phrase to 3rd parties entities on: June 08, 2023, 06:28:06 PM
*The only alternative to this is that the decryption key is identical for every Ledger Nano device and so is simply stored on the device itself and not transmitted at all, but in this case any attacker can just buy a Ledger Nano and have access to the decryption key, so it makes no difference to the final conclusion that if your computer is compromised your funds can be stolen.
If it's a universal decryption key, don't forget about the requirement of undergoing KYC. Sure, that data could also be stolen from a compromised computer. We can only hope that those who opt-in for Ledger Recover will be asked for an extensive KYC verification during seed recovery. I am talking about live video verification, and not simple selfies. Another worrisome piece of the puzzle is that AI software progresses at a rapid pace and it's scary what it can do.

Wrote the following questions to Ledger support:
How will the seed recovery process take place on a new wallet?
Where will the decryption keys be stored and how will they be transferred to the new Ledger?
My request is accepted, it has been assigned id 1138638
If they send an answer, I undertake to publish it here without any changes.
I doubt those poor bastards can be of much help. All they can do is tell you what they have been told from up above or copy/paste some nonsense making them look unknowledgeable.

2244  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best open source hardware wallets for BTC? on: June 08, 2023, 06:04:52 PM
According to what I found out about Passport, it is regarded as open source, even by some members on this forum.
How is it then that Trezor is working on developing the first open-source secure element chip if Passport is already using one? To be more precise, Trezor was talking about as open-source as possible.

Why do you think that cryptocurrencies have no future in this scenario?
Like everything in life, most people prefer to pay for the finished products. When you buy a new TV, you won't build and piece together the components yourself. If Sony sold PlayStations like Legos that you had to build yourself, it would be at the bottom of a gamer's wish list. Everything crypto needs to be simplified, so those who know almost nothing can quickly get the hang of it. If everyone has to build their own wallets in the future, this rocket will never take off.
2245  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best open source hardware wallets for BTC? on: June 07, 2023, 06:16:22 PM
I've been using a Ledger Nano for years but not being open source is a deal breaker for me.
Not to be harsh, but if closed-source is a deal-breaker, what have you been waiting for in all your years of using Ledger? The wallet was closed-source back then and still is now. The question is how has that affected your use of it? The real deal-breaker and reason to abandon Ledger is their upcoming Ledger Recover feature. I agree with that.

...the secure element in all their wallets are all close source.
Secure Elements are generally closed-source, in Ledger and elsewhere. Even Passport I think is using a closed-source SE, the same one used by other brands like Coldcard.

A HW device can remain safe if it is not assembled / created by the hands of such companies as Ledger or Trezor. I am inclined to believe that sooner or later any manufacturer of hardware wallets may come under pressure from states, and even ideological companies (supporters of the ideas of the cryptocommunity) will be forced to surrender. Therefore, I believe that the safest HW wallet will be the device that you assemble with your own hands. The BTC-community needs to look in this direction and develop such an opportunity, when even an ordinary user without special technical skills can assemble such a device as a designer. Assembled the physical part, installed the firmware, connected it to electrum and use it.

Decentralized hardware wallets must also be decentralized, otherwise all this decentralization becomes meaningless. Bitcoin in your wallet should not depend on HW manufacturers anyone.
There is nothing wrong with your post except most people aren't interested in assembling their own devices. And they shouldn't have to do that to interact with cryptocurrencies. If that becomes a norm, then we can call it a day. Crypto has no future in that scenario.
2246  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How safe are physical exchanges in your neighborhood. on: June 07, 2023, 05:53:11 PM
I have never used a physical exchange so I don't have useful feedback to contribute to the topic. But if you are worried about your security, try to exchange amounts where you don't have to show an ID or fill in paperwork that leave a trail that could be used against you. Shops like that usually have a threshold where no KYC is required. If you want to exchange more, you can always go in twice, use several different shops in town, or have a friend help you out and exchange a bit in your name.
2247  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever felt remorse after gambling? on: June 07, 2023, 05:00:31 PM
I think that no matter how big or small the amount you gamble away is, you fell like you shouldn't have done it. The same applies to the opposite when you ask yourself why you didn't bet more to win more.
I don't gamble that much, so I have a good control of my spending in that regard. Most of my gambling happens when I meet a good gambling buddy of mine somewhere who loves all sorts of gambling. Because of that, I often keep him company but always keeping an eye to not get myself or those close to me in trouble with reckless spending.
2248  Other / Meta / Re: 2023 Ban appeal status on: June 07, 2023, 04:49:26 PM
I don't mind seeing such a compilation despite the general feeling being that most users who posted are against it. I know you used the same style as Alex_Sr when he created the original topic back in 2019, but my eyes are hurting when I look at the way the dates are written. I am talking about the year first followed by the month and then the day of the month. I would suggest the normal D/M/Y style instead.
2249  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there a special thread for learning posts? on: June 07, 2023, 04:20:12 PM
1. Test creating a post
You just did. Not only this post, but a total of 12 posts on Bitcointalk.

2. Test make a post with special characters like (quote, color, insert code, font, etc)
It doesn't require any special knowledge. Just highlight a character, word, sentence, or complete post and click the button you want (quote, code, bold, etc.). Changing fonts and colors is not something you really need to do. Posting in multiple colors shouldn't be done in a normal forum conversation. The process is the same for everything else you used.

The 'Preview' button shows you exactly how your post will look like once you hit the 'Post' button. It's also a good way to doublecheck your spelling, typos, etc. before posting.
2250  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: “Out of Energy ”issues on: June 07, 2023, 04:10:54 PM

2251  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Robosats P2P Bitcoin trgovanje on: June 07, 2023, 04:01:02 PM
2252  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Novosti on: June 07, 2023, 02:14:26 PM

2253  Other / Meta / Re: [BAN APPEAL] UID: 1035888 on: June 07, 2023, 01:29:12 PM
There are still many users evading bans that do their normal thing without being caught.
That doesn't help you, does it? It's like saying there are so many unsolved murders, why does the police bother arresting me? Or, why do I have to get a speeding ticket when so many other individuals drive way too fast as well?

As decodx rightly pointed out, can you name a few reasons what Bitcointalk would lose with you gone? To put it differently, can you list what Bitcointalk gains if the admins forgave your violations and unbanned your account/accounts? Those are some of the things the admins will look at. Community support is also important, which is something that is not easy to get as you can see.
2254  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Recovery - Send your (encrypted) recovery phrase to 3rd parties entities on: June 07, 2023, 01:21:54 PM
For Ledger Recover, even if we assume that the Nano S/X hardware device itself is secure, the only way for those shares and the associated decryption key to leave the Nano device and reach the third party custodians is via your computer. Therefore, your computer must receive, store, process, and transmit all the information necessary to empty your wallets. If your computer is compromised while you do this, or if the data is stored in memory and recoverable, then your coins can be stolen by compromise of your computer alone. This is the exact same situation as any hot wallet.
I have no reason to doubt your words, but maybe we should wait for Ledger to release how exactly they envision this system of theirs is supposed to work. More importantly, how and when the encryption will take place. Does the Secure Element have the capacity to encrypt everything on the chip before taking any further actions? Or does the encryption take place in Ledger Live where it could become vulnerable to various attack models?
2255  Other / Meta / Re: Are there proper template for ban appeals? on: June 06, 2023, 07:12:08 PM
For creating a ban appeal thread, ensure you maintain a single thread alone and do not make any posts outside meta. Any post outside of there would count as a ban evasion...
More precisely, even the Meta board is off limits if one of your accounts is on an active ban. You are only allowed to create one ban appeal and post in that one thread. Other discussions and posts in other Meta topics are also ban evasion and will be deleted if the admins see them.

If you wish to proceed with your Plan, I can Help you with small tasks Like checking posts if it's quality. Social Media and etc. also I have like 6 hours of Free time a Day (and can extend)  so I can be  your Helping hand if you need one.
Looking at this post of yours and the way you wrote it, I doubt you have the skills to judge what is good and what is bad. But it's not my campaign, so I don't care. Anyways, this is the Meta board and not a services thread where people are applying for different positions. Feel free to offer your services in private. Click the preview button before submitting a post and go through it looking for mistakes. It's useful if used correctly.
2257  Other / Meta / Re: [BAN APPEAL] UID: 1035888 on: June 06, 2023, 06:56:13 PM
I don't think your chances of getting your account or accounts unbanned and reinstated are good. Many people have been banned in the past for plagiarism-related offences and very few are forgiven. Even if it's true that you worked as a bounty manager and ANN poster for that ICO, you still copied their texts and posted them in your name, which makes it look like you wrote them. All that you had to do to not get in trouble was to post a link to the source or make it clear you aren't the owner of those posts.

Even if the admins were to look past those plagiarism cases, there is still the multiple ban evasions. You borrowed and used alt accounts to request loans on the forum, which wasn't allowed according to forum rules. You participated in other activities outside of a ban evasion thread, which is also not allowed.

Admins sometimes forgive users who have greatly contributed to Bitcointalk but made a mistake. If you dodge and don't respect the rules to continue earning on the forum, they generally don't look that lightly on that sort of thing.
2258  Other / Meta / Re: User recruitment system for the Bounty system. on: June 06, 2023, 06:32:22 PM
If you want good results, you have to apply yourself and do the work that is needed. Don't start a campaign just for the sake of running a campaign if you don't know how to manage it. Bounties are pretty useless nowadays. One of the biggest mistakes campaign managers can do is to accept everyone into their campaigns. They don't make quality assessments, or pay attention to what their members submit.

If you want good contributions, pay quality members to deliver. If you want quantity with shit quality, act the way most other bounty managers act and simply don't care about the assignments submitted to you for review.
2259  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best open source hardware wallets for BTC? on: June 06, 2023, 04:04:33 PM
I'd steer clear from any Ledger products, and choose an open source alternative instead. Who knows if the company's days are numbered? Just my thoughts Grin
I don't think they are. If Ledger is good at one thing, that's marketing and advertising their products and services. They did a lousy job with the PR for Ledger Recover the first time. I think they will hang back, gather their thoughts, and try again once the storm passes.

We are forgetting that many ideas shared by members of this forum is not what the regular crypto user thinks. The average person isn't going to run their own node, stay clear of centralized exchanges, never submit KYC, or worry too much about privacy-invasive software and services. I don't think they will see the dangers in sharing their seeds with multiple online partners either if you package it and sell it to them in a nice wrapping.

Ledger will probably lose a percentage of their current userbase because people have found out their hardware wallets aren't as safe as they trusted Ledger they would be. In the long run, they might make up for it with new users, like the millions of mothers  Roll Eyes looking to purchase hardware wallets where there is a system in place to correct their mistakes.
2260  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What kind of rewards/bonuses do you prefer? on: June 06, 2023, 03:48:15 PM
Slot machines also have a higher house edge which is why the chances of winning for players are mostly low, that is why people tend to lose more than winning in slots unless a person is too lucky and manages to get a big win in the initial stage of their gambling session and then if they are responsible gamblers, they would simply withdraw if they can and have met the wagering requirements.
Even if you get a big win early on, the house edge tends to eat up your winnings while you are trying to meet the wagering requirements. I remember when I opened my account at a popular crypto casino. I am not going to mention the name because it doesn't matter for the point I am making. I triggered a massive jackpot at a low initial wager and won loads. I though there is no way I am going to lose all of this and will surely meet the rollover requirements. I wasn't even close. I lost all bonus money before even reaching 10x of the 35x playthrough that was needed to convert the bonus funds into real money. It's really difficult to win anything from welcome bonuses, but they are a nice illusion.

If you do search by google or something else, try a keyword RTP of ...... fill the blank with any game except slot and I'm sure you will find the information.
That's correct, but it's worth noting that a slot game can have various versions of the same game, allowing the casino to choose which ones they will include on their platform. For example, the same game can come with 3 different RTP ranges (95.60%, 95.74%, 96.04%, etc.).
