Well Smiley nobody know when is THE BEST moment to buy Wink

now it seems not bad Tongue

did you get any of the $400+ btc today?  it was around for about 4 hours

Nope :-)  I have no money to buy unfotrunatly..

I got some around $420

Wow that was great.

I purchased at $508 and was hoping to get some at below $500 but Coinbase only went as low as $505 while I was tracking it.

did you get yours at bitstamp?  I saw that they had better buy rates every time there was a rate change.

I know it may be shocking to some people but did you think the USG might be responsible for shutting mtgox down?  I wouldnt put it past them to put it mildly.  They may have been hunting bitcoin and drugs/terrorism not financial fraud.  We are just collateral damage.

Come on guys, you know the USG don't roll like that, if they shut your site down they put the their whole seal on it, and if they take you into custody they want the perp walk.

The BIG news from the feds was the subpoena -- the absolute beginning of the beginning.  They are as surprised as everybody else, remember all of the actions that Mt Gox took PUBLICLY was proper, they just stunk, the subpoena is the legal crow-bar to pry open the door to see what smells so bad.  If it turns out Mark is just a bad cook (accounting and programming problems as Roger claims) then no criminal case, just a civil matter; but if if it turns out that he was cooking the books, then you have an entirely different story.

next time around.

here's the thing, the biggest players are all young, so they can totally reinvent themselves and become MAJOR players once a gain in the cryptocurrency industry, even some of the older guys that got embroiled in the silk road thing, they too can experience a new beginning because of the nascent and volatile nature of the cryptocurrency economy.

At this very moment it is very possible for them to start with $0, take advantage of many giveaway offers do some trading and start making a decent living in less then 3 months.  and be a millionaire again in less than a year.  Their knowledge is there and the market is there too.

But you know how things are, they got the million easy, they want the billion easier ...

If anything this episode should serve to teach libertarian children why financial regulation exists in the first place.

they never forgot, because as soon as they loss their money they dialed 911 ...

They, like many others, talk a good tough boy game but when the satoshi hits the fan they don't want the market to handle it, they wall Sam, knowing full well that Sam almost never gets you what you want, Sam only looks out for Sam.

Cartel style self-regulation is the answer.

We are accepting deposits. If you are unable to generate a deposit address its because our pennies daemon has crash again like it does frequently. We bring it back on multiple times per day

The reason you are negative is our penniesd stopped reporting send transactions for a period of times. So a few dupilcates may have slipped in there

There is no easy way to go about delisting a market. After much thought we went with the plan you see

We do not sell the CENT we got from stake. Paul frequently gives them away

how does he give them away?

also do you have any investment tools that I could used to help manage a portfolio of different products?

This is more like it! Those who steal people's life saving shouldn't be allowed to sip cappuccino in the morning

and those who give money to the people who steal people's money should not complain when their money is also stolen

2247  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People actually thought bitcoin was dead because of MtGox? on: February 26, 2014, 05:17:02 PM
Looking at Bitstamp, this didn't have a negative effect on the price.

Because it was overshadowed by MTGox, had that been a totally isolated incident it would have been a different story.

Even now in this post Mt Gox environment the shock is just starting to be realized.

Bitcoin is fragile, and unstable, the magnificent growth makes it even more clumsy as it develops.

Yep people get scared easily today

The funny thing is the people the most "scared" are the ones who don't own a single satoshi.

and they will continue to not own one if btc don't get their satoshi together

the growth and development of btc and all other CC is dependent on global acceptance
2248  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People actually thought bitcoin was dead because of MtGox? on: February 26, 2014, 04:59:32 PM
Its an interesting dilemma. On one hand, their spins are creating a great buying opportunity. On the other had, it is a legitimate threat to the acceleration of the technology.

if the currency is legitimate, if the system of support is strong, then the media's coverage is not an issue, HOWEVER, if the currency can be easily inflated with media hype, it stands to reason that it can be easily deflated with negative media hype.

Without all of the positive media hype btc would only be worth about $400.  NOTE that $400 amount would reflect an extremely massive growth rate over the 5 years.

2249  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People actually thought bitcoin was dead because of MtGox? on: February 26, 2014, 04:51:10 PM
I'm surprised how much Gox affected Bitcoin.

It's like saying USD will collapsed because of a bank bankruptcy. :/

It's more like saying the Euro will collapse because Spain and France no longer want to use it.

It will not only effect the Spanish and the French, it will also affect everyone in the European union, and everyone that uses euros.

The people who don't use Euros will quickly think the currency is doomed because they probably didn't value it much in the first place.
2250  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People actually thought bitcoin was dead because of MtGox? on: February 26, 2014, 04:28:00 PM
I was watching CNN today while getting ready for work and they had a 30 second tidbit on bitcoin... basically saying bitcoin has "collapsed" and users unexpectedly lost money from the shutdown of the most respected exchange. Fucking lol... why is the media so retarded?

mainstream media doesn't report news - they spin it.

but in all fairness, CNN's website says this:

"Bitcoin skeptics say the digital currency is doomed. They're wrong. But the failure of Mt.Gox shows the agony of an evolving industry without any government oversight and led by tech entrepreneurs with zero financial experience."

The news is often inaccurate, but if they have the time (which they often don't) to get educated on a matter, are following an ongoing story, have the chance to collaborate with other reporters, and/or see other stories that's when they get things right.  Otherwise they just take what they could get, use some critical thinking, creative writing, then serve it in an extremely articulate way.

It may be true that tech pros may know little about finance, but the finance pros know little about tech AND know little about Bitcoin and CC in general.

Cryptocurrency is a nascent industry with tremendous potential, bitcoin is showing only a 'bit' of what it can do as well as what the all of the other coins can do.

2251  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Worldcoin WDC on: February 26, 2014, 04:17:04 PM
don't trust any cryptocurrency,
don't trust any CC exchange,
and
don't trust your computer software to keep out the hackers

do what you can with what you have,  the greater the risk the greater the POTENTIAL reward,
wherever there is great risk there is great loss

Maybe you wasn't here during the WDC startup and the unocs hype Smiley.
This latest Scharmbeck scam was almost boring after the previous two.

Since I'm new here, your presumption is probably accurate, however I'm doubtful my general assessment would change.

All cryptocurrencies should ramp up with lots of hype, that's the way you bring attention to your CC then over time the strength of the coin should overpower the fading hype. In this way the CC stabilizes wherever it is. Notwithstanding, you still should not trust any cc, exchange, or software to protect your valuables.

Domain Name For Sale #19 ---> www.CRYPTOCURRENCYUNIVERSITY.COM

I will consider all offers, including but not limited to trade, a partnership arrangement with the domain being my equity contribution. or good old (or new) fashion currency

I have no minimum or maximum, I like doing the type of deals that result in two happy principals --  WIN-WIN  deals

Yes, I have other domains available for sale and am willing to bundle.
2253  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What is the greatest lesson of MtGox? on: February 26, 2014, 01:51:32 PM
If you aren't the sole controller of your private keys, you don't have any bitcoins.

Possession isn't necessary for ownership.

Just because you transfer custody of your coins to someone doesn't make the new holders of the coin the new owners, just like when you take your kids to school it doesn't make the teacher the parent.

You entrust your fiat / cryptocurrency to exchanges for the specific purpose they set forth in their agreement -- essentially to safeguard until you have removed it from their system.

2254  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Worldcoin WDC on: February 26, 2014, 01:40:42 PM
where is this coin traded,  other than Cryptsy?

mcxnow, bter, vircurex and on a lot of other smaller exchanges.
now I am watching this on cryptorush and pmtocoins also but still not good enough

I didn't see WDC on either site, nevertheless I like the cyptorush site where are they based?   I like the fact that they used dodge as one of their pivot or base coins, what are some other interesting things about them?
2255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Worldcoin WDC on: February 26, 2014, 01:30:21 PM
To OP

In the past WDC have been an "investment vehicle" for a group of scammers. I mean they invested a lot of BS, you guys invested a lot of money...  Three times in a row (issues around the startup, unocs, Scharmbeck). After all of this why should anyone trust WDC?

don't trust any cryptocurrency,
don't trust any CC exchange,
and
don't trust your computer software to keep out the hackers

do what you can with what you have,  the greater the risk the greater the POTENTIAL reward,
wherever there is great risk there is great loss

2256  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Roger Ver : Gox "worst-run business in the history of the world". on: February 26, 2014, 11:15:44 AM
Roger had at least 24000 bitcoins tied up in MtGox since 2012 due to the Bitcoinica liquidation. (MtGox refused to hand over the keys to the account to the court appointed liquidator citing 'privacy reasons' so the funds remained 'frozen' until the demise of MtGox yesterday).

He also released a new 'teleprompter' video today distancing himself from Gox and clarifying statements made in his earlier video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRIJ_jpmwzo

We need to understand the whole picture -- I agree Roger, kindly share the WHOLE picture.

You said you did the video purely as a favor to Mt Gox, kindly tell us who at Mt Gox asked you to do the video?  Who wrote the words that you read in that video?  What was your relationship with Mt Gox, and it's CEO at the time of the first video?

You specifically said: "I made a video stating that their fiat withdrawal problems were not being caused by a lack of liquidity. I made no claims regarding their solvency."  You do realize that, "liquidity' and "solvency" are symbiotic, and that any statement by you about Mt Gox at that sensitive time would be construed as an endorsement?   Why would you endorse Mt Gox at that troubled time in their development?

In this video you said: "This issue was caused by poor programming skills and a total lack of book keeping on the part of Mtgox", is it true that Mt Gox allowed you to see their books, some of their financial records?  What did you know about their programming and bookkeeping and when did you know it?   Was it before you invested the "... life changing amount of bitcoins stuck in Mtgox" or just before making this new video.

BTW: did you sign the petition to remove MT Gox CEO from the btc foundation.  In what ways if any did you support the protesters at Mt Gox?  When did you stop trading at Mt Gox?

With answers to those questions we could get a glimpse of that picture you are talking about.

May I know any discount for mass ordering ?

Thanks for your question, I:
1) only have 30 of them
2) prefer to do them individually
3) would provide a max discount of 25%
2258  Economy / Speculation / Re: Get Ready To Do Some BTC Shopping ... on: February 26, 2014, 09:53:58 AM
If I remember, Pokerstars covered a 150 million debt in player accounts when they acquired Full Tilt. So it could happen. However they got some technology, intellectual property, a salvageable brand. Not sure gox has any of that.

I think you answered your own question by the end of your sentence.

The only reason to buy is if it makes sense, given all of the reasonable deals out there there is not common deal that makes sense.

That said, I would buy Mt Gox  for $1 if were able to lay out my purchase arrangement for the cryptocurrency world to accept, if the CC community accepted it I would take the deal.  In that deal, not one of the customers would lose any of the coin or fiat that were properly deposited to their account.  That type of win-win deal could work but is not normal by any sense.  But I know how to make it work.
2259  Economy / Speculation / Re: Mt Gox CEO Karpeles says bitcoin exchange is at "turning point" on: February 26, 2014, 12:14:28 AM
Karpeles said: "We should have an official announcement ready soon-ish. We are currently at a turning point for the business. I can't tell much more for now as this also involves other parties."

He is selling the company .... that's obvious Smiley

Hope that the company buying this auwful mess doesn't get Goxxed!.

That actually sounds a lot like he is selling.. Who would want to buy exchange with so bad reputation?

I would buy it if I were able to lay out all of the terms to the site member/customers, so that they know exactly what is happening every reconstruction, rebranding, and repositioning step of the way.  I would not buy it unless I had the actual cooperation of the membership.   Rest assured, everything would go up: service quality, security, rates, value, and appreciation.

Take special note, the price would be no higher than $1, but no one would lose a dime from insolvency or foul play.

2260  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The community should demand the following. on: February 25, 2014, 10:11:49 PM
1) those guys distanced themselves from Mt Gox long ago when they no longer factored MT Gox's rates into their calculations for their published rates,
2) why do you need anyone of them to tell you that MG is bad when the evidence and your own brain told you that?
3) this forum told everyone long ago, before those guys made their disconnections to leave MG alone,
and
4) this wasn't the first time MG jammed the btc community, the prior matter was only months ago.

Believe it or not folks this forum collectively knows more than any individual, or any whole company, in the cryptocurrency industry about Bitcoin.  The problem is that we are conditioned to believe the media, corporate big wigs, and govt so we continue to defer to them, but where do you suppose they get their information from?  It doesn't have to originate here but this is where the truth, lies, suggestion, rumors, observations, etc ... get repeated, understood, tested, refined, and repeated a few more times

This forum is the epicenter of both cryptocurrency genius and cryptocurrency crap; but it only takes a bit of critical thinking to cut though the crap to get to the genius that flows in most threads.

When someone wants to start a coin, where do they go; when a manufacturer wants to sell their mining equipment they come here to find reviewers, testers, and a place to advertise. That's why when you protest anything in mass, or accept anything in mass, it is heard all over the cryptocurrency universe.
