2243  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / 🐕 🥳 Š O G E R M I N T 🐕 🥳 - vintage DOGE tokens with new artwork ("NFTs") on: September 24, 2022, 09:13:28 AM

🐕 🥳  Welcome to Dogermint! 🐕 🥳

We are manufacturers, retailers & collectors of digital collectibles for the blockchain age.

Thanks to the rebirth of the Dogeparty platform in Oct. 2021, access to OG tokens minted on the Dogecoin blockchain in 2014 was restored to their owners. The problem is, almost nobody from the original DP days kept their seed phrase. Therefore, ancient Dogecoin assets are scarce -- scarcer the Counterparty tokens, which have been minted & in circulation since Jan 2014, and way scarcer than Ethereum NFTs, which came years later.

Why is this a big deal?

The Historical NFT movement that started last year has put these tokens in high demand. As a result, Dogermint has sold thousands of tokens over the last year, repurposing old tokens with new, original artwork to create a special breed of NFT that is unlike any other. Most tokens start for sale at extremely low prices, relative to other tokens of the same era (Aug 2014). For example, the first 200 GOLDENSHIBEs went on sale for 15 DOGE each. They now command a minimum price of 2299 DOGE via Dogewallet dispenser.

Other popular Dogermint releases include HAPPYDOGE, SUPERSHIBE, DOGEQUARTER, DOGEDOLLAR, BENGALS, and STELLA.

How do I get them?

The first thing you'll need to do is download a Dogewallet which is a highly-secure Dogecoin wallet that also has support for Dogeparty tokens. For a complete guide on how to use the Dogewallet, click here. Next, you'll need to deposit some DOGE in the wallet. Then you'll need to send some DOGE from the Dogewallet to a Dispenser address. The token will be automatically sent to your Dogewallet address -- no escrow necessary!

What tokens do you currently have up for sale?

A list of tokens being dispensed from official Dogermint dispensers can be found here. It is also possible to buy Dogermint tokens from non-official dispensers (from other Dogeparty users), as we are no longer publicly selling many of our original best-sellers. Links to our open dispensers can be found in the post below and will be updated as new dispensers open and ones that have sold out close.

How do I know these are legit?

Dogeparty tokens are featured in a number of timelines, Discord groups and Wiki Pages run by "NFT Historians" who have sifted through mounds of NFTs to come up with a collective assessment of which tokens have bonafide historical records. The Historical NFT investment thesis postulates that these NFTs will retain considerable value compared to newer NFTs, of which already exist in near infinite supply, as their underlying token was minted long before most others -- before the term "NFT" ever even existed.

We've been highly successful since we started and have no plans of stopping or slowing down. Our public NFT sales records can all be verified on-chain and all our dispenser sales are tracked on the Dogermint home page. Feel free to ask if you have any questions or need help getting started. The world of affordable ancient assets awaits!

2244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.10.0 on: September 24, 2022, 04:42:57 AM
is there something wrong with what i said  Grin Grin

Well yeah, first of all DOGE never reached a dollar, it topped out at 74 cents in May 2021. Second of all people who know DOGE know Binance has a terrible track record with it, between trying to extort users out of funds they sent in error and pushing BSC-DOGE as the real Dogecoin while making its withdrawal fee significantly lower than that of DOGE. Which leads me to believe your claim about having funds on Cryptopia when it closed is also not true.

Anyway, great to see DOGE pumping over the last 24 hours when all the other big boy coins are pretty much flat (sans XRP... whats up with that, lol).

Speaking of Big Boy Coins, DOGE is once again in the CMC Top 10...

LOL. Well you're not wrong.

Unfortunately you'll never be able to recreate the magic of Shitcoin 3.0 without a time machine. Sorry, I don't make the rules.

Think I'll finally get around to making an ANN for Dogermint tokens in general.

I'm making it a policy not to merit any account in the WO with under 100 merits, or 200 merits, or just if I feel like you are here to merit farm... go get your rank-up merits elsewhere, and come back after you've had time to develop the knowledge necessary to contribute worthwhile discussion.

Exactly! You'll need expertise to discuss conspiracy theories, Covid, Russia-Ukraine war (aka ww3), John Deere stuff, butthole tanning and some gay xmas cards with WO regulars!  Grin

Yes, as well as Big Lebowski memes and the occasional well-shaped bottom, among other things.

Its not just about bitcoin, but its a camaraderie that is joined through means other than merit farming.

Probably where he got the idea from, lol.

@nutildah Amari Cooper's good performances are quite unexpected considering that they are playing Jacoby Brissett, a substitute quarterback for the massage man hehehe. I hope having Massage Watson on the field after the suspension on week 6 will not destroy how the Browns play. He has not played for more than 1 season.

yeah for real, Cooper threw our matchup in your favor, and I hope Brissett has some strong performances in the next few weeks to prove he is ready to oust Massage Man from the starting QB position.
2249  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: September 23, 2022, 03:00:56 AM
Cooper is having / had a great game for the Jerkers... I was rooting for the Browns until I discovered he was on my opponent's team, now I'm rooting for Pittsburgh to keep the ball for the rest of the game.

Trubisky is boring AF, tho.

Actually already looking forward to next Thursday's game as I'll finally be able to watch Tagovailoa in action.

Bitcoin has died 461 times and still alive. Means it will never die.

Look at the All time chart and die news. Looking nice.

Can you explain about what you mean by 'Bitcoin has died"? All these red circle refers to every major correction bitcoin has gone through or that is something else?

They're just the times media has referred to bitcoin as dead or dying or worthless, etc., which correlate with the internet's general level of interest in bitcoin, which correlates with its price.

Take your time for answers to these questions, suggest other questions to this list, Invite your friends to take part in this interview, leave a comment or a suggestion!!!

Below a series of questions, feel free to answer all or only part ...

This is an interesting initiative, and indeed there have been some good responses. Gonna answer the questions most applicable to my personal experience.

Quote
1. When you bought your first  crypto collectibles?

The first crypto collectible I ever purchased was a CryptoKitty, in 2018. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. For some reason I can't find it but I'm gonna look for it when I'm done with this. It was a Gen 0, so it might actually be worth something now, LOL.

Quote
2. What did you love about this sector?

From a collector's standpoint, there's 5 things I normally look at before making a purchase / trade:

- mint date (the older, the better)
- circulating supply (low supply is good, lower circulating supply is better)
- blockchain (BTC, DOGE = "yes", most other chains = "no")
- aesthetics (this matters to me more than most other Historical NFT collectors... I like to buy art/designs that look good)
- price (if its more than a few hundred dollars, most likely I'm out... like to buy assets that leave room for price appreciation...)

Quote
3. What future do you see in this kind of collection?

Big. As more people enter the NFT space, which they assuredly will during the next bull cycle, the older, scarcer NFTs will be the most highly sought-after, as there is a near infinite amount of new NFTs already being generated, and 99.99% of it is noise that will go to zero.

Quote
4. What do you think are the objects or types of objects that will have a greater interest or revaluation in the future?

Oh, I'll just be talking about NFTs... They take up far less storage space, yet their collectability is the same as physical items, IMO.

Quote
What advice would you give to those who are entering this sector for the first time?

Buy Historical NFTs!

Quote
6. Can you post your collection item that you think deserves more attention?

Sure, I could use this as an opportunity to shill my own creations, but let's not. Instead, I'm gonna post a picture of this bad boy, who is Adam Bomb, the flagship character of the Garbage Pail Kids series, which was initially release as physical cards in 1986.

In 2020, Topps, the company that owns the series, decided to start releasing GPK cards on the WAX blockchain. Unfortunately Topps kind of bungled it and pulled the plug on WAX NFTs after releasing a handful of series, but Adam Bomb remains instantly recognizable and its still a highly-regarded NFT.

Quote
7. What do you think could be the “holy grail” of collecting bitcoin/crypto objects?

For NFTs, there are two of them: SATOSHICARD and RAREPEPE. Both are considered to be at the forefront of the entire crypto collectibles movement and sell for multiple BTC, with RAREPEPE being the more expensive as there are fewer in supply and circulation.

Quote
8. Do you think it's a hobby "for the rich" or can it be started by "penniless" collectors as well?

Both! There's definitely a lot of rich bastards in the NFT space, but if you have an eye for good value, you can pick up steals with very, very little money. For example, I sold my first 200 GOLDENSHIBE for 15 DOGE each in November of last year, and they now sell for anywhere between 2299 DOGE and 0.4 ETH.

Quote
9. What do you think about the dilemma of those who buy items paid for in bitcoin rather than keep bitcoins themselves?

Bitcoin was born to be spent. It's a currency, after all. Without utility, its useless. By spending your bitcoin, you fulfill its purpose.

Quote
18. What do you think of NFTs? Can they be considered real collector's items or are they useful only as "proof of ownership"?

Sure, as I mentioned already there's a burgeoning movement of NFT collectors, and I strongly believe this fad will grow exponentially during the next bull market... I think its more prudent to invest in Historical NFTs as they are limited in supply. But, most importantly, do what makes you happy! It's OK to have hobbies, and its OK to spend crypto on them!
2252  Other / Meta / Re: Reee: How would bitcointalk community react to bitcointalk nfts on: September 21, 2022, 08:26:39 AM
OK, guess I'm going back to defending NFTs in their entirety.

I guess what I take offense to the most is the idea that "all NFTs are worthless," which is clearly not true as people spend big bucks on them on a daily basis, even in the depths of a bear market.
That's not really an argument. People spend big money on heroin as well but it doesn't do them any good.

Heroin has value to its users and is actually quite expensive compared to most other things by weight. I'm ignoring the moral and other implications of comparing NFTs to heroin, but if people pay money for things it means they see value in them. This does not have to match your personal assessments to be true.

Quote
When a piece of unique physical artwork gets sold, you become the sole owner of it (assuming there are no other copies out there). If you hang it in your living room, that's the only place it can be enjoyed. When an NFT gets sold, everyone can still access it, look at it, download it, listen to it...

You're describing all art on all mediums: it can be reproduced, photocopied, digitally transferred, counterfeited, forged. I can visit the Louvre and take a picture of the Mona Lisa, or hire a master forger to recreate it for me on canvas. I can make a photocopy of a Mickey Mantle rookie card. I can download Metallica's entire catalog from The Pirate Bay. With a lot of NFTs, the token is the art, and the token itself cannot be duplicated because it is accounted for by the blockchain.

Quote
There is surely a lot of fake trading on these NFT marketplaces meant to give importance to certain pieces and try to trigger a higher price. Sell it to yourself a few times before you find a real buyer who decides to purchase it.

This was already brought up. Yes, wash trading happens, just as it happens with every major cryptocurrency, including bitcoin.
2253  Other / Meta / Re: Reee: How would bitcointalk community react to bitcointalk nfts on: September 21, 2022, 04:43:46 AM
We've veered pretty far off from the main topic and its resulted in me attempting to defend the entirety of the NFT space, which is not really what I intended to do.

To get back to the basics:

My implementation of forum NFTs is designed to be a series of personalized collectibles, nothing more or less. I think they are pretty cool because unlike most NFTs, the image is dynamic and changes each time you update your avatar. At the same time their metadata is wholly immutable, and most importantly, tailored to your individual specifications.

At first I thought limiting the total supply to 1 would be a good idea, as that makes them truly non-fungible, but eddie13 pointed out it would be more fun to have higher supplies so that way peeps could trade them with each other (which is achievable in a trustless fashion using the Counterparty DEX). As I mention in the thread, you can even sell them for BTC via Dispenser or wrap them using Emblem Vault and sell them on OpenSea.

Now if your response is "so what, I don't care," that's fine. I guess what I take offense to the most is the idea that "all NFTs are worthless," which is clearly not true as people spend big bucks on them on a daily basis, even in the depths of a bear market.

It's a bit tiring hearing the same takes on collectible tokens since 2014 -- not a whole lot has changed in that regard. It just should be obvious by this point that a serious collector market has emerged for some of these things (some, mind you, not all), and its not going away. It will only get bigger as more people enter the crypto space during the next bull market, and accelerate as the world continues its transformation from physical to digital.

Another 301 BTC added to Saylors stash. Dude keeps buying I'll give him that

"at an average price of ~$30,639 per bitcoin."

oof.

but yeah I'd rather hear news about buying than selling.

not sure its him doing the buying anymore as he's no longer CEO.
2255  Other / Meta / Re: Reee: How would bitcointalk community react to bitcointalk nfts on: September 20, 2022, 11:26:52 AM
If these were treated like trading cards back in the 1950s like you said, with people trading them amongst themselves out of passion for the NFTs themselves and not like trading cards from the 1980s-now, then I'd support this.

Well, that's the thing, there is indeed a lot of this going on. A good example is the Rare Pepe community, along with some other classic bitcoin NFT collections. Its fun to collect Rare Pepes. It just is. A lot of them are massively expensive or hard to get, but every once in a while I score a decent buy. The best way to get them is through trades with other collectors. There is a booming, good-spirited community of NFT collectors -- like I said, they just don't make a lot of noise and they don't make for riveting content.

In general, I believe anything that can be done without a blockchain should be done without a blockchain. That includes digital items in games, and it includes forums.

Actually games was one of the great use cases I forgot about. There's some decent blockchain games in the works where in-game items owned by players are all NFTs. There's been a disconnect between videogame developer talent, blockchain talent, and marketing talent, where if one element is skewed too much the game fails. Most videogames fail, most altcoins fail, and most NFTs will fail as well, its just the nature of business and technological evolution. But that doesn't mean that someday a game won't get the balance right.

Decentraland, for instance, is shaping up to be really cool. I thoroughly enjoy wandering around in there, and they now have a VR-compatible build which is extra cool because it makes for a totally immersive experience.

I always thought Magic the Gathering would be ripe for blockchainization. Its just a matter of coding the game rules and making NFTs of all the cards... they would probably make a killing. I'd buy a pack for sure, so long as it wasn't ludicrously expensive.

There is some comfort in knowing that if you own a game item on-chain, it can never be taken away from you (unless you're hacked, of course) -- but more importantly, the developers can never remove it from your inventory.

Yeah sure, there's been a lot of bad NFT games made so far and some spectacular failures, but pointing to those instances as proof that the whole thing is dumb or useless is a self-serving exercise. Its akin to looking at early failures in solar power or electric vehicles as proof that the technology can never become viable. Bitcoin would have failed had it not been heavily worked upon by a dedicated group of individuals, all united by their passion to see it succeed.

BTW Loyce, not sure if you were aware of this, but everybody who gets married gets a marriage certificate...

I was referring your post which mention good example/explanation of NFT technology. And while it's true i didn't check technical details of how they implement NFT, i know most of them is build on top of blockchain (such as ETH, SOL, BSC and MATIC) which only offer pseudonymity.

All NFTs are built on top of blockchains.

Its possible that identity-based tokens will be put in a new wallet containing nothing else from a master distribution wallet. A signature is required by the wallet owner to show proof of ownership, and nothing else is required, no other further input or output transactions. In that way the owner could potentially remain anonymous, depending on what the signature is needed for.

Well, it looks like Josh Allen has you covered; 4 TDs and 317 yards after three quarters.  I wonder if he'll play anymore, this one just needs the fork.

This was almost the case but the stomping was so bad they took him out.

And whats funny is Tannehill was doing so bad, they took him out. 2 big INTs, one for a pick 6.

Buffalo D did a great job of stopping Henry, as well.
