2244  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Can police take you to the psychiatric hospital with no probable cause? on: March 17, 2016, 06:11:37 AM
I do believe I had mentioned this situation in off topic. I don't believe I got a chance to really discuss it though. Here's the thread if anyone's interested.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1401031.0

I am also looking for legal advice here if it can be given. Maybe a financial adviser would be best for my situation. For my friend's girlfriend's situation though, she might need a lawyer.

So if I do recall correctly, she mentioned she was in her bedroom with headphones on behind her locked door when all of a sudden, police barged into her bedroom. Mind you, she's under 25 and still lives at home with both biological parents I believe. Her father gave the police the keys to her bedroom door. They barged in, started questioning her, but she said she had the right to remain silent. Next thing she knew, she was verbally harassed, physically harassed, pinned on her bed, handcuffed, then sent to the psychiatric hospital. The doctors let her go that same evening in about 4 short hours. I do believe if the police rightfully took her in, they would have kept her much longer.

I don't know what to think here. This is quite unusual to me. I don't know if she's telling the truth that she was in her bedroom, not making a sound and just listening to music. If that is the case, what should she do?
for sure, this can happen if you live in a police states . . but it must be investigated whether she said the truth or not.. and what reason made her father call the police ? i think she is hiding the true story..
2245  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Car explosion In Berlin on: March 17, 2016, 06:06:54 AM
When was the last time we heard about a car bomb in Germany? Looks like the media is glossing this over, Maybe it was a faulty airbag or the guy ate too much the methane gas from his farts ignited when he lit a cigarette.

you are right.. i have never heard a car bomb attacked in germany..  maybe, the reason for this accicent was a broken engine or the driver's farts .. who knows?
2246  Other / Politics & Society / Re: $150 bn lost in tax havens enough to end extreme poverty twice over – report on: March 17, 2016, 05:30:46 AM
you will never end global poverty by throwing more welfare aid at the third word, we've been doing it for half a century, all that happens is they get better medicine and food so that more of them survive and create more poor people, a rigorously enforced one child policy is surely the answer to their problems

perfectly agreed.. one child policy will be a solution for poverty on earth.. if goverments take this in consideration , this poverty problem will be solved for sure..
2247  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you see marriage as a business transaction? (Be honest). on: March 17, 2016, 05:27:05 AM
Topic: Do you believe a majority of society sees marriage as more of a business deal, and not really a document proving love?

Question: Why would you get married? Do you think you need a piece of paper proving your love for someone? Do you want equitable distribution of the assets if you ever choose to separate? Are you looking for more cash benefits? Opportunities from the other person? Interested in free food? Perhaps massages? Etc? If you marry someone for nothing but "love", you might be marrying for the correct reasons but if you're marrying for the entitlement and services that come with it, do you think it's justified?

of course most of the people is getting married for financial stuff.. for me, money issues dont matter on deciding to get married..
if i get married someday, the reason for this will be definitely for love..

One car explodes Capital city of Germany, Berlin. In Charlottenburg region of Berlin, a car exploded. Driver died, unknown number of people injured. We are suspicious that there was an explosive in car and exploded, Police said. Injured people were taken hospital and criminal experts are on investigations process.

i dont think that it was a terrorist attack . anyway, this is a really saddening case .. i feel sorry for the death and i hope the injured ones get well soon ..

2250  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is there a "West"? Is the "West" responsible for all the troubles of the world? on: March 16, 2016, 06:10:20 AM
If the West was responsible for all the troubles, where have all the troubles gone to in Japan?  China?  Russia?  Chile?  Germany?   Alaska?

If there is a "West" that is the great evil, where is it and who is it?

If "the West" is responsible for all the trouble in Iraq, why is there no trouble in Japan or Germany?

Does "the West" include Israel?

All the western countiries- including israel-  are responsible for evil things on earth..  they are so greedy and hungry for innocent people's blood then they suck them all.. they feed all the terrorists groups on earth for the sake of themselves for sure..

2252  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Vermont Legislature Could Be the First to Legalize Marijuana on: March 16, 2016, 06:02:30 AM
I know you are thinking it's been done before, but not through legislation...

http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2016/03/vermont-lawmakers-may-be-first-to-legalize-weed.html

Quote
Bernie Sanders, who is not, in fact, a pot-smoking socialist, would nonetheless be proud of Vermont. As Reuters reports, the liberal-leaning state might become the first to legalize marijuana through legislation rather than through a voter initiative, as was the case in California, Colorado, Washington, and Alaska. In those four states (and Washington D.C.) voters put the issue on the ballot, but in Vermont, state representatives are set to vote on a bill passed by the Senate that would allow adults older than 21 to buy and smoke the drug beginning in 2018. The law would also prohibit residents from growing their own marijuana plants or selling edibles and would impose a 25 percent sales tax on the drug to fund state programs.

Voting on legalization this way "makes for a much more thoughtful and measured approach," State Senator Jeanette White, one of the bill's sponsors, told Reuters. "We got to work out the details, we got to ask the questions first and put the whole infrastructure in place before it happens." What's more, it would monetize a substance that a study reports one in eight Vermont residents (and one in three people ages 18 to 25) already use. "If it's one in eight, to me that tells me that society for the most part is accepting it," said Windham County sheriff Keith Clark. "If 12 or 13 percent of the population isn't being open with law enforcement when we're trying to investigate serious crimes, that's holding us back from working with our communities."

Of course the bill faces a certain amount of opposition, especially from House Republicans wary of legalization. Lawmakers have until May, when the current legislative session ends, to pass the bill.

i think smoking weed is not a dangerous and unhealty thing on the contrary it can be good for some serious illnesses for that reasons it must be legitimized in all countries.. i am happy for vermont..

2256  Other / Off-topic / Re: Poll: Which religion is the best religion? on: March 15, 2016, 06:17:21 AM
Atheism is number one. If I had to adhere to some sort of ethos the only one with any value to me would be Buddhism but that sounds like hard work.

yes , you are completely right .. atheism is the best one but it is not a religion .. atheism is beyond any religious system on this world.. all the atheists are respectful of any religion and choose not believing any of them..
2257  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The fascinating reason why you occasionally see things floating in your eyes on: March 15, 2016, 06:13:55 AM
Pretty much everyone has seen those weird transparent wormy things occasionaly floating across their field of view. They always look a bit unnerving, as though some kind of bug is sitting on your eye. We decided it was time to answer the question: ’what are these things really?’
It turns out they’re called ’muscae volitantes’, which is Latin for ’flying flies’...but they’re actually not flies at all, or any other kind of bug.

You’ve probably seen these things if you’ve ever screwed up your eyes to look at the sun (or seemingly for no reason at all)

i am fascinated when i learn how a human body works.. it is really amazing and at the same time scary.. but we should be careful our body and do not ruin its functioning for sure..
2258  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Top Islamic State commander dead a week after US-led airstrike in Syria on: March 15, 2016, 06:09:18 AM
A top Islamic State group commander known as Omar the Chechen has died after being injured in a US-led coalition strike in northeastern Syria, the Pentagon confirmed Monday.

The announcement would appear to clear up the fate of the notorious Omar al-Shishani a week after a US official said the most-wanted militant had been targeted in a 4 March attack on the jihadist’s convoy.

“We believe he subsequently died of his injuries,” Navy Capt Jeff Davis, a Pentagon spokesman, told AFP.

On Sunday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group said Shishani had been “clinically dead” for several days.

Shishani, the nom de guerre of Tarkhan Batirashvili, was one of the Isis leaders most wanted by Washington, which put a $5m bounty on his head.

He comes from the Pankisi Gorge, a mainly ethnic Chechen region of the former Soviet state of Georgia.

2259  Other / Politics & Society / Re: To Maintain Supply of Sex Slaves, ISIS Pushes Birth Control on: March 15, 2016, 06:06:23 AM
Locked inside a room where the only furniture was a bed, the 16-year-old learned to fear the sunset, because nightfall started the countdown to her next rape.

During the year she was held by the Islamic State, she spent her days dreading the smell of the ISIS fighter’s breath, the disgusting sounds he made and the pain he inflicted on her body. More than anything, she was tormented by the thought she might become pregnant with her rapist’s child.

It was the one thing she needn’t have worried about.

Soon after buying her, the fighter brought the teenage girl a round box containing four strips of pills, one of them colored red.

“Every day, I had to swallow one in front of him. He gave me one box per month. When I ran out, he replaced it. When I was sold from one man to another, the box of pills came with me,” explained the girl, who learned only months later that she was being given birth control.

It is a particularly modern solution to a medieval injunction: According to an obscure ruling in Islamic law cited by the Islamic State, a man must ensure that the woman he enslaves is free of child before having intercourse with her.

Islamic State leaders have made sexual slavery as they believe it was practiced during the Prophet Muhammad’s time integral to the group’s operations, preying on the women and girls the group captured from the Yazidi religious minority almost two years ago. To keep the sex trade running, the fighters have aggressively pushed birth control on their victims so they can continue the abuse unabated while the women are passed among them.
