2241  Economy / Speculation / Re: sub 1000 gone forever on: May 02, 2017, 12:31:58 PM
we have said goodbyte to 3 digits a long time ago, the dip doesn't count in my opinion because it was very short lived and it was the last bullet the FUDsters had to spend to push it that low.
it will be some time before we can see another FUD that big.
2242  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much maximum BTC can be sent in a single transaction? on: May 02, 2017, 12:05:36 PM
21,000,000.. max
This is the only correct answer that i see. Grin

haha, that is actually not technically correct Smiley

first of all is the fact that we can never mine all the 21 million coins because reward is halved so it will never actually reach zero. apparently it goes to zero after block 6930000. thanks BurtW

secondly is taking all the lost coins into consideration, a lot are burned by being sent to burn addresses, a lot are lost because someone forgot the private keys.

third if we ignore all the second step, there is 1 satoshi from missing from all the mining rewards thanks to a miner who intentionally got underpaid 1 satoshi less as an honor to satoshi missing. so even if all the coins are mined the total number will be 21 million minus 1 satoshi.
2243  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Short Term or Long Term on: May 02, 2017, 11:54:58 AM
as a bitcoin Hodler my answer is obvious. HODL bitcoin and have a happy life Wink
i have bought bitcoin back in 2014ish when price was $400 and it fell down to $300 then $200 and i was still hodling and buying and then buying some more. then it started rising from $200 to $300 and so on and i was still buying and hodling and buying some more.
to this day i am still buying whenever i have money, it doesn't matter what the price is, tomorrow it will be higher and that's my moto. and for the past years i don't have a single regret and am a lot richer. and will continue to do the same to be even more richer lol.

and as for altcoin trading. it is all good and happy while the market is in full bull mode and all the alts are pumping. but when it stops being good it starts getting ugly and does it pretty fast.
it's all about the experience you gain in trading altcoins. watch the charts a lot. watch the live market. i even say stare at monitor for hours, you will learn a lot. specially during pumps and again during dumps.
2244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BTC breaks $1400 barrier, altcoins going on the red on: May 02, 2017, 11:46:41 AM
this is like my my "Valar Morghulis" topic all over again. bitcoin rises and all the shitcoins start dying like flies.

what people usually miss is the history. looking back at it you can see all these patterns all over the charts. bitcoin stops rising or falls a bit and altcoin pumps begin.
why do you think people pump altcoins? they want to make PROFIT while bitcoin is not rising.
and when it does they focus all their attention to bitcoin (where profit really is). and because of that altcoins get dumped and again because of the dump panic starts and the chain dumps begin. have you ever heard of the term panic sellers, that is what happens after the first dumps by whales.

some said "it is good time to buy cheap coins". i agree with that. but be very careful to buy at the bottom not before it. there will be dead cat bounces but if you buy higher than bottom you won't be able to make profit.
also make sure to get out fast after the bounce.
2245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Real User Case Alts do you HODL for Long? on: May 02, 2017, 11:37:32 AM
apart from bitcoin, nothing!

i have tried to convince myself to invest in an altcoin for long term and i have found many that satisfy many of the things you mentioned here. for example there are coins like monero or even litecoin that have real use cases, have no premine or other scammy things, have a good developer(s).

but investing and hodling for long term needs to be profitable enough to warrant that kind of decision. and none of these are even good in the long term. they rise up in less than a month and then fall back down. so what is preventing me from staying 100% in bitcoin, get in one of these while they are rising and get out with profit? instead of letting my bitcoin stand idle in one of them for a long time until they maybe rise or not.
2246  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much maximum BTC can be sent in a single transaction? on: May 02, 2017, 11:31:07 AM
sometimes doing a quick google search does wonders. give it a try.
2247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coin life and investment safety on: April 30, 2017, 10:05:46 AM
there are two very different ways of looking at what you are asking.

as an investment to make profit
which is what most of us are doing. this means nobody cares about anything more than the profit they can get from the pumps, and for that you only need less than a month to see how the altcoin is performing nothing more.

as a real investment
for that you need to dig deeper but sadly these days there are no good project that is worth looking into as a real investment that has a real future and usage. most of them are basically created to give the investors money through pump and dumps. i sometimes see some projects that seem promising but they all end up in the same place.
I agree with this. In other words, this is the difference between a short-term and a long-term investment. Of course, to consider a coin as a long-term investment, I think it should be at least 1 year old, quite stable overall and have some interesting features or be already quite used in gambling or on markets.
However, I think that if a coin is brand new, it is bad even as a short-term investment, because its price can fall down extremely fast and it's easy to miss the moment.

true. specially since after a new coin is listed on an exchange there are a lot of miners or worst of all those people who got coins for free such as airdrop, giveaways, advertising campaigns,... will want to get bitcoin in return so they start dumping and that is why usually there is a big drop in the early days of a coin
2248  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Bitcoin Punishment => 8 Hour's To transfer coin from Blockchain... on: April 29, 2017, 12:13:00 PM
Thanks but, i'm used to blockchain.info

ViaBTC is just a miner, having some real hashpower mining blocks. this miner offers a free feature to users who have their transactions stuck. if your transaction has a low fee, you just go here: https://www.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/ and copy paste the tranasctions hash (yours was 76e8ba....) and fill the captcha and click submit. then this miner (viabtc) will include your transaction in the next block they mine.

so in other words it doesn't matter what wallet you used.
2249  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Bitcoin Punishment => 8 Hour's To transfer coin from Blockchain... on: April 29, 2017, 12:02:26 PM
Halulujah, the coin got into my localbitcoin wallet today. so it took a whole day before coin get into my wallet just like normally bank-bank transfer ( appro. 1-2 biz day)

ARRIVEDERCI Bitcoin
don't get why you are saying goodbyte to bitcoin but glad to hear your problem is solved.

but i don't get why you were resisting help Cheesy

120 sat/byte will also allow you to use viabtc's txaccelerator (link to the tool can be found by following the link i posted at the top of this post)
4. use viabtc acceleration tool Wink

if you listened then your transaction would have been confirmed within 20 minutes upto 1 hour in worst case scenario!
2250  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: May/June 2017 @moon : Speculation on: April 29, 2017, 11:54:14 AM
we have had a pretty great bull run in the altcoin market but these things have never lasted in the past. they always end sooner or later. pumpers won't pump the coins forever!

all the coins that didn't have a rally will have one soon and most of the altcoins which are in a bubble will go down most probably.

for now we should try and focus on the rises and our strategies of getting out of them on the closest point to the top rather than missing the exit.

bitcoin is the one coin you should always go to.
LTC's bull run is taking a break to enter accumulation phase and there is a good chance that another bigger bull run starts soon after.
ETH is in a bubble and this bubble is getting scary in my opinion. but it seems like price is rising some more these days!
Dash is in a similar position but with less pumping power than ETH.
NEM i have to admit that this coin seems to be very interesting and i consider it as a good investment.

i don't know about the rest of the altcoins you named but the small coins are usually a good place to make a huge and fast profit. so it is good to always have some under your radar.

p.s. don't think too far away, in altcoin market it is best to stick to short term.

2252  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is your best strategy to determine if the coin will be profitable? on: April 29, 2017, 11:37:14 AM
i would recommend not to gamble with coin below 1000 sat.
there are some good coins under 1000 satoshi like feather coin (FTC) and it has very good price rises with good profit.
also remember than it is always easier to pump a coin from 100 to 1000 than it is to pump it from 0.01 to 0.1.

try to invest in good ico project ,there token/coin will sonner or later will get high value.
terrible advice in my opinion. there is no goo ICO project and there is no easy way of assessing them. and the main reason why an ICO is created is for the owner to make money most of the times through scamming.
2253  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Bitcoin Punishment => 8 Hour's To transfer coin from Blockchain... on: April 28, 2017, 12:37:13 PM
This is more like "not educating yourself => punishment".
1. your fee is low. check out https://bitcoinfees.21.co/ or use a proper wallet that does proper fee suggestions. i suggest bitcoin core or electrum. i have checked them both and they give very good fee suggestions.

2. from 2017-04-28 09:48:25 (when you broadcast your tx) to 2017-04-28 12:30  (now)  is not 8 hours or 82 hours as in your second comment. although this is debatable. Smiley

3. learn about RBF and how to use it. again electrum offers pretty easy usage of it in case of this when your fee is not high enough.

4. use viabtc acceleration tool Wink

5. also a good idea to take a look at this topic when you had more time: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1802212.0
2254  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: How much will LTC correct? on: April 28, 2017, 12:10:49 PM
i bought some on the rise after SegWit was a sure thing and sold on top, then went all in with the initial money and the profit in the next dip and after price went up i didn't sell! now i am bagholding for the first time in my life haha.
with that said i have withdrawn all my LTC from bittrex to my cold storage and will wait.

my speculation is, when SegWit is activated, there will be a rise, it may happen sooner too.
but for 99.9% sure, there will be a rise as soon as first LN transaction goes through.

I don't want to get in now and find out it's at sub 0.01 tomorrow. I know it will go up in the long term but I don't want to see it stagnate until it finds a bottom.
this is the worst feeling Cheesy
specially when you see all the dip and the chance to make profit from swings and have no bitcoin/money to buy in. at least i think we can be sure it will rise and the 0.01BTC seems to be a good resistance point. exactly 24 hours ago we tested it and it didn't last. there is good demand.
2255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Tether USD crashing? on: April 28, 2017, 11:57:36 AM
because it is an altcoin like any other altcoin. i'd say even worse because everyone thinks it is supposed to be worth 1 USD but in fact the creators don't even promise you that! and it is clearly stated in their website (tether.io?) that there is no guarantee of price being stable with USD.

and right now, people are dumping it because of fear of bitfinex. (i am not exactly sure how these two are connected but i think the same bank is backing both of them)
2256  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: “One Bitcoin, One House,” Nonsense or Reality? on: April 28, 2017, 11:51:25 AM
Zhao Dong, an old Bitcoin holder, suggested to those blind bitcoin investors that:
"if you do not have any knowledge of investment basics, please stay away from the Bitcoin world. You will not get rich, and you are just messing with the Bitcoin market. The fact is those people haven’t realized the real significance of Bitcoin.“
looks like all the bitcoin hodlers think alike:
Do not buy bitcoin IF...

he believes that Bitcoin will become a mainstream currency, but it is and will continue to be an experimental new currency for years to come. Put simply, Bitcoin is so not ready to redefine currency.
it already has redefined currency. something that was centralized for many many years, is not decentralized and awesome.

and also i should add that all this only applies to those who want to invest in bitcoin but bitcoin is a lot more than just an investment. and if anyone thinks otherwise then they have not yet understood what bitcoin really is!

In this site news.8btc.com the price of bitcoin is $1151 in poloniex the price of bitcoin is  $1400

To be more exact  $1420 at this moment that i write.

poloniex is not a bitcoin/fial exchange and that price is not $ it is USDT price and USDT is not fiat it is an altcoin called tether which was supposed to be worth 1 USD but it couldn't keep up the promise and fell down to $0.91 last time i checked.

also price on 8btc (i think) comes from Chinese exchanges since that site is also Chinese. and price is low there because their exchanges are practically closed down.
2257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Litecoin value going down on news of SegWit? on: April 27, 2017, 02:30:33 PM
just buy the dips and sell the highs to make daily profit and enjoy your life.
otherwise just buy before the pump and stop looking at the short term dumps if you really think SegWit is going to push the price really high (which most of us do). these short term changes are for those who want to do day-trading or have given up on litecoin and think the rise is over.
2258  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The Perfect Trading Website/App on: April 27, 2017, 02:17:36 PM
Lets say in theory someone is creating a bitcoin/altcoin trading website/app.

What would make it perfect? How could it better than the sites we already have?

there are so many different little to big things that needs to be considered. the first one is the pricing, these things are never good and are never cheap.
then if it is a website, can it run it 24/7 reliably or will it have downtime leading to me missing chances.
another thing, off the top of my mind, is the strategies that i can run with the app/site. does it have already strategies, or can it add scripts and most importantly is the user interface.
2259  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Bitfinex situation - how long will it take? on: April 27, 2017, 01:55:58 PM
Poll result is depressing.
bah, who cares about POLL results. people don't vote what they think can happen but they mostly vote what they wish would happen.

Cut out the rotten exchanges.
Bitfinex needs to die, its corrupted by greed.
Greed= short term
Added value+transparency = long term
We dont need Bitfinex, let them rot.

yeah, down with bitfinex Cheesy
i am too lazy right now or i would have made a mime with that yellow drawing thingy holding up a matchstick shouting.
edit: yaay i did it anyways
2260  Economy / Speculation / Re: Looking Forward to 2017 on: April 26, 2017, 03:48:14 PM
This top, of course, was followed by a crash in the price of Bitcoin, sending it down to below $250 soon after.
it wasn't exactly "soon" after. it took 2+ freaking years Smiley
and i wouldn't exactly call it a crash. it was a bubble bursting, and i prefer calling it a correction after a fake price in 2013

Quote
The size and computing power of the Bitcoin mining network, which confirms and validates transactions, has risen exponentially
this is the first time i hear someone calling it "computing power". in fact it is that but we call it hash power/hash rate. or at least mining power and that has nothing to do with price rise. price went up, more miners came not the other way around.

Quote
and without any evidence of price manipulation.
i'd say price manipulation is still there, and very present but not at all with same power.

Quote
enhanced features that made them objectively "better" than Bitcoin
this is highly debatable.
