2261  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: (Noobie) Antminer S4? on: February 09, 2016, 04:47:31 PM
Guys guys,

I wasn't really committed to doing it, as it is pretty wrong and wasn't aware of the loud noise it makes. Never once did I say I was going to do it for sure, I had said I was thinking about it. Just saw a youtube video and WOW, this thing is quite loud! Anyone know where I can get one of these? My friend works for a power grid and he offered to run it for cheap.

Thanks

I'm selling 3 Avalon 4.1's on ebay as a set.  Lowered price they are great for cheap/free electricity.   If you have a friend in power company as you said might look at it.  glad to hear you are not talking about server room without permission.

Here is how quiet they can be:

2262  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Feb 7 to Feb 19? picks closed setting up. on: February 09, 2016, 04:44:09 PM
Yea it does suck sometimes to be the one to bear the bad news.. At first it wasnt such a big deal.. price was keep up with diff.. actually leading the charge.. But now it seems to have stagnated a bit.. Didnt drop like i thought but we not out of the woods yet on that.. Im sure we will see some up action closer to halving just not sure when that will be.. I thought we was going to be alright for abit there but now we have hit a new 8 hour high of over 1.4 peta.. not sure exact as the graph is cut off again.. (climbing to fast i guess Undecided

ive officially shut down most of my gear.. I put my s4's on my own solo pool just for shits and giggles to see if i can hit anything .. Its been about 6 months now since they hit one.. hoping they hit one sooner than later!  Im also solo mining eth on my hd7970.. that is very profitable atm if you dont know. My 18 mh/s rakes in with 180 watts power use .. 77.38$ per month gross.

Best Regards
d57heinz

If it makes you feel better you are not being the bearer of bad news for most.  I think it's already sit in.   I had to condense my miners as price I was not making as much on previous gen as I wanted.  So.... not fun but I'm in process of doing it.

Hopefully we see the trend of double digit go down on difficulty changes.  But it's hard to speculate on it.  And price.... I just want over 400 right now and I would be happy to see a move up.   But it's been a slow ride.

is this psu strong enough to lift antminer s7?

The big thing I see is "Six powerful +12V rails with high maximum loads offer great compatibility with heavy-duty graphics cards".    If you go EVGA 1600 you get a single rail.

I could be nut's but I think that part might cause some problems.  And I could be wrong, but all mine have been single rail.
2264  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: People so upset about the difficulty they are SMASHING their miners to pieces on: February 09, 2016, 04:35:55 PM
heh

that'd be a good outcome to hope for but unlikely to see profitable miners get the same treatment.  Roll Eyes I was giving the guy the benefit of the doubt by saying he's attention whoring, perhaps he's just an idiot who purchased an S1 recently.

I honestly can understand it a little bit.  I have dipped lower then I wanted on trying to sell my Avalon 4.1's.   If I go much lower might be worth sitting on shelf.  But the aggrivation of trying to sell and no one even throwing offers makes me want to follow suit and go crazy with a hammer..... but I am to sane so I will be selling to low.

But really have to give it to the guy for not worrying about making money on sale.
2265  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS 3x Avalon 4.1's - Great set - ON EBAY 480 or less for the set! on: February 09, 2016, 04:32:16 PM
Price was lowered to a extremely low price 385 on ebay SHIPPED... for a set of 3.   So a set of three shipped to us with RPI, and cables to connect the 4.1's to RPI.   It honestly does not get any better then this on 4.1's on price.

Still great miners for someone with low or cheap electricity.  These have nothing wrong, I just have to high of electricity.

I bought a 4.1 last week for 149 us in btc shipping paid . waiting for it to get here on Thursday according to ups. kind of why I asked you what I did in a PM but then i found my answer a few hours later .Smiley .if you do happen to break up the set i see it in time i might buy one . right now, I'm saving coins in hopes of getting 2 or 3 of the 16 nm ones if one ever comes to light . but for now I need something to do and pay cash for cheap ones then mine with them , it gives me something to do sense, I'm  disabled and  i can't stand up long etc.

cya

Yea I am probley going to sell this one as a set.  Just is easier they have been a set since they were bought long ago.  Also makes it where it has the RPI that comes with it.

On this forum  it's not a big deal, but on ebay selling one without a RPI set up can be trouble as it seems to have more new miners.  Lowered to as low as I hopefully have to .... 385 shipped for 3.  Your getting Avalon 4.1 x 3 for the price almost of S3's.

It's still on ebay.  Only looking at US as don't  really want to ship this big box out of US.   Also don't want to mess with customs for so little. - http://cgi5.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
2267  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [ANN] HashCoins - Cryptocurrency Mining Hardware Manufacturer on: February 09, 2016, 10:16:23 AM
There never was any actual mining. (or any hardware manufactured) When I had an account with hashnest, i pointed 1Th/s towards antpool in the hashflare account and compared it to the 1 Th/s in the hashnest account. The results made no sence, i knew it was b.s. then when antpool found 48 blocks and my payout was lowered from the previous day of 22 or 24 blocks, then the next day anpool found somewhere around 20 blocks, and the payout in hashnest increased.

They made two miners the Ares and the Apollo.  Both of which they bought chips and used in their  product.  So there  were 2 that were real.

But once  they hit Zeus is where it became vaporware.    And even on ones they did make they were high for what you got.
2268  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: People so upset about the difficulty they are SMASHING their miners to pieces on: February 09, 2016, 07:30:13 AM
Can't believe I missed this.  That is a way to go out with a bang.

What I want to know is if he made ROI.   Seems like someone craving attention and did it for not a ton of money.  Still a shame to smash gear up, especially the psu's even though nothing special.
2269  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive BitCrane T-110 Setup [HD] on: February 09, 2016, 07:26:15 AM
is it possible to connect these straight to a pc with?  i cant find mine on the network i think its stuck on previous owners setting...its really frustrating spent hours and still cant get a control panel ip to work...

Your best best I think is to try to find a backup image.  It appears to have a SD card on the controller board.  So I would find a backup, and try flashing SD (backup old just in case first).

But much better chance of that then finding  solution to hook to a regular PC.   I  think at least.

cool thanks i just opened it up and found the sd card location,,,,other ports its has is a mini usb port and a hdmi port when the bitcrane is running the hdmi screen displays this

ian GNU/Linux 7 cubian tty6
ian login:

but thats all it does not sure if previous owner is the reason why i cant conect to a ip control panel or not

any ideas where i can find a back up image to try on the sd card??  im not the most computer literate

I have not looked  for it.  It appears they still have a site up.  I would email or contact them see if they still provide it.

If no luck from company then hit the forums up trying to find someone else with one and ask them for a backup.  Might be a little tough as was not the most popular miner, was high priced in it's day.

Shipping I can't lower much this is going to be a heavy shipment.  And a big box.   Just got through on putting packing around it and it's ready to go!

A great deal if you have cheap/free electricity.  Throw your best offer on ebay I will be selling these.
2271  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: (Noobie) Antminer S4? on: February 09, 2016, 06:50:41 AM
Hey guys,

I kinda know what I am doing with this, but I'm wondering if I can buy an antminer s4 and make profit with it. I'm planning to run it at my school, so free power. It can't look suspicious and the the miner does look like a server, so it's perfect. So if I have free power, and of I can get one for $200-300, is it worth buying? Mines at 2 th. Would I mine solo or with a pool? What coin would be the most profitable? Thanks.

adaseb says, its make a huges of noies, the idea its fine, but its have a huge noise, i have running a Antminer S4 for fun in my leving room, and its make so much noices in my badroom i need to close the door before i felling to sleep, Smiley

I am selling some  quiet miners they are Avalon 4.1's.   If you need quiet miners I highly suggest checking my auction out, they are the most quiet full miners I would say.  Much better for bedroom, or living room.

But not pushing sale for OP  of this thread his idea of hiding in  a server room is wrong.

Have still been testing Yubikey with blockchain.   I think it is one great use due  to it's popularity.

Also the more you use Lastpass and get unique strong passwords the better it gets.   I would say Lastpass gets stronger and stronger the more you use it.
2273  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: How to Protect my faucet site from bots? on: February 09, 2016, 06:44:17 AM
Hi! I think you should use:

  • Antibotlinks script
  • Bad behavior script

This is an initial protection of your faucet as well as proxy blocking and setting 30 minutes faucet limit.

Are they compatible with faucetbox script? I am using faucetbox, faucet box only support 4 captcha services, recaptcha, solvemedia, fun captcha and areyouhuman,

Are you looking at IP address?  I'm guessing they are not using proxy thousands of times to get a profit.  Chances are blocking IP's could stop it.

That is what I would focus on is IP's.  Even if they use proxy's check and see IP to bitcoin address.  If IP enters so many address's over a certain period ban it.   So many options.

How much are you actually losing to bot activity?
2274  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: (Noobie) Antminer S4? on: February 09, 2016, 06:39:35 AM
Base on your second post, it means your not in full control of server room and any guy that operates and checks server room, would find out that it's not a server and it's very different since they wouldn't hire a normal guy to monitor server room. If your just a student and there are camera's all over the school then chances of you getting caught and expelled is very high. If your willing to put those at risk, go ahead but rest assured you'll get caught one way or another. Btw to answer another of your questions, for 2TH it wold be advisable to mine on a pool rather than solo.

And it depends on how far the school want's to push it.   You for sure would get in trouble with school,  you will be caught eventually.   I'm guessing pretty soon after doing it. They could go with legal issues to.  So you could have true legal issues with it.  Anything from unauthorized access,  stealing (electricity), breaking and entering into server room.  It's hard to say.

I'm thinking it is a high school student reading it over.  I don't think he/she realizes the possible legal issues.  Or seeing only 2 posts it could possibly be a troll.

the mining gear is not yours but these threads have hub info and rasp pi info scattered in them.

Rasp pi are tricky need the right hubs for a power source and to run.

RPI's like usb 2.0 hubs for most part.  If it's for a raspberry PI I would ask before spending good money if someone had good luck, or look some sites tell  compatible ones.  But power is a big thing on how much a hub put's out.

I have one of those cheap hubs mentioned in first post "they are about as cheap quality as there is".  Only really good if you plan on modding it.  Your better off getting one with better power and better quality.

I just got a couple more of these, to modify. Believe it or not, they have gotten "CHEAPER" with them and started leaving resistors/capacitors or something (?) else out of them, lot's of open pads with stuff missing! Still trying to decide if I should waste the time modifying them or just trash them....

To sam1987, I would see if you can get the Pluggable 60 watt 7 port 2.0 hub in the UK. Should be enough power to run 3 sticks and the Pi.

http://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Charging-Adapter-Support-Android/dp/B00L2LK164/ref=pd_sim_147_7?ie=UTF8&dpID=411ZfohMHGL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=1JSD8Z9JKT7QAB7D62GP

EDIT: jumped from the club pool page, so see sam1987 doesn't need the power for sticks, so you can probably get away with 1 of the lower power Pluggable 2.0 hubs.

Interesting I would have not guessed they would get even cheaper.   Past they were ok for modders.  But it's  much easier to get a decent quality usb hub that is already set up for proper power.

If they got even cheaper  going for decent quality is really only choice.
2276  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Feb 7 to Feb 19? picks closed setting up. on: February 09, 2016, 06:28:18 AM
Whatever the reason, 20% plus difficulty jumps and sub-$380 BTC prices make me a sad panda.  I was also expecting a slow down for Lunar New Year, but it's like difficulty is on a one way rocket ride to the moon...

I  wonder if these mines got the holiday's off looking at blocks.  If they did they put in some machines before holiday that is for sure.   I keep hoping the next one will be better.  But I am unsure at this point what  to expect.

so  i'm just a small time "hobby miner". (thats code for "i mine at a net loss because im addicted to crypto" though i suppose most miners
like myself probably rationalize their habit with comments like "i just wanna support the network")
Anyway... excuse my ignorance and sorry if its been asked (my google search skills are lacking)
As i only have 115v outlets available, i was wondering if the built in PSU  currently powering my solo S4 would suffice to power an S7?
Im thinking probably not but thought id ask here.

I don't think hobby miner is code for that at all.   I see home miner as  110-120  volt plugging in where they can.  I see hobby mining as a bigger scale with  area and proper power.   That does not mean profit, but I think size is bigger.

Home miner would be what  I think  your looking  for with 115v outlet and a solo s4.   You would not be able to do it with bitmain's PSU as it takes  205+ V to turn on.  but likely you could do it with a mix of PSU's or a evga 1600 (epensive).  If you mix make sure not to mix on hashing boards, only 1 PSU not 2 mixing on the  hashing boards.

2279  Other / Meta / Re: Why accounts are banned on this website? on: February 09, 2016, 05:02:57 AM
you get banned for breaking rules. and using another account to post outside of the thread talking about your ban while one of your account is still banned is called ban evasion. which is not allowed. so don't post outside of this thread if you don't want to get banned again.

This is most likely the reason reading first post.  I'm guessing first account got banned it might have been temp or perma, we dont know.  But if OP kept posting on second account it turns into ban evasion like you said and is permanent.

You need to stop making accounts give it a few months (depends on what you did).  Come back and ask to  be unbanned.   And it all depends on what it was for and if mods are nice and unban you.  As of right now I have a feeling your perma banned and any account you create will be banned.  But give it a few months and only post in meta about it then.
