Bangladesh VS India

The second test match of this triangular series starts today. Already India has won the first test match and I am expecting them to repeat the same performance in this one too. Virat Kohli! Can he hit another century in this match to stop those who are questioning his form is a big question at the moment. The Indian bowlers have done a pretty good job till now only issue is with the batting order.

Bangladesh would want to win this match in order to level the series. Seeing them struggling on thier homeground in the first match makes me doubtfull. Niether the bowlers nor the batters were able to dent india.

At the moment according to ICC WTC India is ranked second but South Africa are not that behind that means this series and particularly today's match is very important for India if they want to maintain that rank and qualify for the finals.

Yeah.. one of the positives have been the massive crowds that the series managed to attract. 45,238 people attended the second T20I match between Indian women and Australian women, which was staged at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Ashleigh Gardner of Australia also described the crowd as the second largest she has ever witnessed. What we need is continued support from the BCCI. I have a feeling that the focus from BCCI is still not there, despite all the big talk about pay parity and starting the WIPL.
BCCI in my opinion are not releasing any updates because they are busy preparing the framework. Knowing them they would try to make this league also a money minting league. They won't be able to achieve it from the first year but they know as the popularity grows the money will flow. So the focus would be more on advertising more about WIPL before the league starts.

I agree and I also have same question we can't just blame WIPL for that.

WIPL may increase the player pool for the Indian women's team. Compared to the men's team, there is still a lack of depth. Almost a dozen Indian players have franchise T20 experience, but apart from these players the domestic players are not up to the international standard. WIPL may bridge the gap between these two sets of players. But even the first group of players performed pathetically this time. It's true that they were up against one of the strongest teams in women's cricket. But what about the home advantage? The way they surrendered meekly yesterday was shocking.

Australia, England and Newzealand are the top 3 teams in women T20 ranking. Indian women team is ranked fourth on that list. Yes, a long way to go but definitely not a bad start for women cricket. Give them a few more years and they would also be ranking on the top and then you can thank the WIPL. Even though India women lost the home series but they were able to pull crowd to the stadium. Which was very rare earlier all thanks to the commendable performance by the girls in the last few years.

In this Test Championship title, Pakistan's results have been disappointing. According to Babar Azam, the bleak performance of their pacer against England was due to the fact that their best pacer isn't working. I disagree, as their poor management and captaincy contributed to their poor performance.
After this 3-0 defeat, what about Pakistan's chances to make a spot in the final of test championship? They could make on their own by winning all the remaining test matches or need to depend on others' results? As of now, India and England might get qualified for the final in my opinion as they are the only two teams who are consistently performing in test matches both home and away.

-Pakistan virtually has no chance.
-Poms are already out and it was their last Test series in this cycle.
-Indians are in a contest and need 4 wins out of the remaining 5 matches.
-South Africa could also fancy their chances and need 3 wins in the remaining 4 matches.
-SL also needs to whitewash NZ and win the away series 2-0.

This my opinion in just three points.
  • Pakistan are out for sure.
  • India would struggle unless they win the Bangladesh series in a whitewash. Which might be possible.
  • South Africa can win and get to that 2nd position but Srilanka I have serious doubt.
Whom so ever might come in 2nd position, the teams that is for sure will be part of the finals would be either Australia , England or South Africa.

Shaheen, Nasim, and Haris are all unfit for recent test series against England and that was a major set back for Pakistan bowling lineup. Don't know what happen that all 3 major fast bowlers are unfit at the same time. Abrar was called in because of these injuries and despite his brilliant bowling Pakistan couldn't avoid a whitewash.
I guess it's time to bring back Sarfraz as captain.
That's what everyone is saying if your main bowlers are injured then you need to give more exposure to those new bowlers so that the new talent is ready in situation like this. It's the fault of PCB that they never thought that all three bowlers might get injured. That basically means incompetence on part of coach, selector and the PCB chairman.
2271  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: December 20, 2022, 01:38:00 AM

Women cricket should be given equal importance as that of the men's cricket. This isn't happening in reality, very few boards have done it in the right way. Most of the Asian cricket boards, particularly Indian board is much focused on money. Now the prime focus is to make money and if the women's IPL turns to be a success, the women cricketing will get importance. If not, they're supposed to be the same as now.

When you walk into any school in Asia do you see the girls playing cricket like the boys do. On the street do you see girls playing cricket like the boys do? No, probably in the subcontinent parents do not encourage girls to play cricket due to the stigma that it is a boys only game.

I am not sure about other countries but in India girls in school have now started playing cricket I haven't seen them doing the same on street for now but after WIPL the situation will change. BTW women cricketers in India get the same treatment and pay as their male counterparts. I do not think other subcontinent boards does the same for their female cricketers as BCCI does. They do go for the money but they also pay handsomely to their players and support staff.
2272  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: December 20, 2022, 01:18:35 AM

Pakistan's batting line-up is weak as we have seen it in the last few years. The Pakistan board has failed to find talented batsmen for their squad. Pakistan's bowling line-up is very strong. But they are still dependent on the performances of Babar Azam and Rizwan. If these two players do not play well, Pakistan team cannot collect big. Unless Pakistan's batting line-up improves, and the batsmen do not consistently perform well, Pakistan will not be able to improve in the Test format.
Atm, I doubt if anyone considers Pakistani bowling lineup strong.

They have good white bowlers but it's not true in Test cricket at all, it's the weakest bowling lineup I've witnessed from Pakistan. Shaheen is the only capable name that comes to my mind. Naseem and Rauf are good but they need to play more red-ball cricket in domestic so their body doesn't break after bowling 15 overs a day. Everybody knows how their body broke after playing just 1 test.

Abrar is a good find in the spin department but I believe he's going to lose his mystery advantage after a few series so management needs to take care of him and allow his art to mature even if he fails sometimes.

You cannot deny that the England test team is far better than Pakistan. I would understand the bowling situation but what about their batting? They have to work a lot on their domestic cricket in order to find good talents. Current Pakistan test team is very poor when compared to what they had in the past. Losing a series on their homeground just shows how much theyhave gone from bad to worst.

I quite enjoyed Croatia's match against Morocco last night, in the end the two countries played attacking until the last minute. We know both of them have a strong defensive strategy and that makes them semifinalists in this world cup. But here Croatia played a little ahead, I was really amazed by the header goal from Croatian player Joško Gvardiol in a flying position while dropping his body and that made goalkeeper Yassine Bounou very surprised. Congratulations to Croatia for the third place and for Morocco to keep the spirit for the next world cup. can't wait to watch the world cup final later France against Argentina, the whole world will see this year's grand match.
Croatia scored the first goal in just 4 minutes of the first half and the equalizer was scored in the next 4 minutes of the match by the Moroccan team. Both teams were constantly attacking each other but I felt Croatia was controlling the game. In the end they won the match and the third position in this world cup. Last time they were the runner up.

I think Bangladesh have played fairly well in the fourth innings, i was never expecting them to win but a total of even 300 in the 4th innings is pretty decent considering what they made in their first innings.
I was not sure completely cause of Indian attack but i was counting for at least 80-90 overs grinds for bowlers in the 4th innings due to the historical record of Chattogram Stadium. Traditionally this pitch gets better to bat on as the match progress.

I mentioned in my previous posts that a couple of years back, the Windies chased down a mammoth target of 390+ in the 4th innings on the very same ground.
Not sure whether Bangladesh would be able to do the same, what Westindies did a few years back. They have already lost 6 wickets which most of their middle order has gone. The only strategy that Bangladesh would now apply is to drive this test match to a draw. Indian bowlers have done an excellent job till now. Another few wickets and the game goes in favour of India.
I don't think Bangladesh can drive the match towards a draw. If they plan to defend and extend the match this is surely going to be loss for Bangladesh. For now it is good to go with some agressive shots and bring runs. Maybe the same can increase the pressure on the Indian bowlers when a solid partnership is being built by Bangladesh.
If they are able to take the agressive approach then they might lose wickets and end up losing the match. They do not have lot of wickets in hand and everytime they build a partnership the Indian bowlers were able to to end it. I feel they would take the defensive approach. They still need to chase 241 runs which is possible on the last day but they need to form a big partnership.

Bangladeshi bowlers just ran out of carrots in just 3 days and they are also 2 bowlers down.

I suppose Ebadot Hossain struggling with his back and Shakib still has not recovered from his ODI rib injury (Courtesy Umran Malik), he only bowled 12 overs in this match and he's the key bowler for Bongs.
The whole team has run out of carrots. Test cricket is not that easy for bowlers. They need to be fit, should be ready to experiment and apply different strategies.

Shubman Gill is a batter that I have adored for sometime now. This young talented player in my opinion has a great future in both test and ODI format. He is that kind of batter who will take time settle but once he is settled he is unstoppable.

India has dominated the entire test match and I am pretty much confident that the Indian bowlers will take down Bangladesh bowlers with ease tomorrow.
2277  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: December 16, 2022, 06:17:31 AM
Yes, Bangladesh have made the mistake by changing the pitch for spinners. It is common with every host team making the pitch according to their betterment. Other than Kohli and Siraj everyone have managed to score two digit runs which is really good and a combined contribution. By the third day first session Bangladesh could end the innings.

LOL.. everyone except Kohli and Siraj. That is the point. Now we are comparing Kohli's batting skills with those from Siraj. Pathetic downslide for a cricketer who held legendary status just 2-3 years ago. And the joke is that Kohli still refuses to acknowledge that he is out of form. When the BCCI officials pointed out that he need to take a break and concentrate on domestic matches, he got angry and ridiculed them. But with every passing month, Kohli is becoming a burden to the Indian team and holding places away from hardworking younger players.
Kohli is suited for test cricket and if he gets an opportunity to bat without any pressure then he will go on till he gets a century. At the moment India is in a very comfortable position and if he gets an opportunity to bat today you might see him playing his original game. One thing I am sure and many here would agree that he is not suitable for T20 format. There are other and better batters who can easily replace him in this format.

Bangladesh going from bad to worst. Niether their batters are able to play the Indian pace bowlers nor the spinners. Almost all their top batters are out. If the tail enders again perform like they did in the ODIs then Bangladesh management should change their batting position to middle order. Match is completely being controlled by the Indian team. Zero excitement left in this match for now.

I would love to see if Chadwin score 50+ score here, may be before lunch.

Ashwin can easily score 50 but only after the lunch. He has already scored 40 before lunch and now only needs 10 more. At the moment India have scored 348 runs and anything above 350 on that pitch would be tough for Bangladesh. Good to see Kuldeep Yadav also contributing to the Indian score.

Congratulations France! Although Morocco had more possession of the ball than France but they failed to capatalize the oppertunity. This may be because of inexperienced players in their team. I would not say France played exceptionally well. In my opinion they were far better when they faced the English in the quarterfinal. What is done is done and now they would be facing the Argentina. As this is the last world cup of Messi I am sure his team will give their level best to beat France in the Finals.
