2261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should your wife or husband know your seed phrase? on: January 10, 2023, 12:07:37 AM
There are people who when they join to live with their partner promise all the best for them, and do not fulfill it, that may be something that some men do and only 1% fulfill them, it may be that some men are liars and only want to have their women by their side but without access to their fortune, there are women who, if they go after a man's fortune and if they see that they do not share anything with them, they just leave him and never return, but if it is a wife where he married for the church with him, where he will accept her for life, I don't know why it is the impediment, I don't say anything when they are dating or just living, but if she shares and cares for her man, she has the right to that.

I really don't see the benefit of having another person accessing your Bitcoin while you're still alive and well. I can see many negatives to it though.

People can have an amazing marriage, a shared life, and all that, while still keeping their private keys private.

Of course there could be some arrangements made in case you have an accident, etc, and you give full access to your coins then, same as any other assets, but while alive and well?, no need.

Even if Ronaldo will still be in active football till the next World Cup, Portugal will not field him to play active role in the world cup. They may take him along incase they will be able to win the World Cup and Ronaldo will have it added to his profile.
Ronaldo has given us his best in football and I must confess he is among the greatest that football has produced.
Now let us enjoy his brand and influence.

There's just no way back to being part of the team for Ronaldo, we saw him not performing his best already in the last World Cup, his replacement performed way better.

I think we will only see Ronaldo in the next World Cup as we saw Pirlo in this one, in the ads.

The funny thing is that probably he will be able to make the same, or maybe even more money doing ads instead of playing football anymore.
2263  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador will be the richest country in the world in 8 years? on: January 10, 2023, 12:01:02 AM

You are all very right regarding El-Savador, bitcoin adoption has given it an upper edge to be well recognized among the top most trending countries people will always love to hear about it headlines, not only that, the adoption has placed El-Savador on a bitcoin tourist reservation making world recognition in setting it record along with bitcoin, it's no doubt to e one of the talk of the town everywhere, also the crime rate in the country has dropped drastically because lives had been made better with an imoroved economy in the country through bitcoin adoption.

Yes, El Salvador was once known as the murder capital of the world, but over the last few years it has consistently dropped those numbers.

It is now safer in El Salvador than in some areas in the US, like Baltimore

The Examiner article listed Baltimore's murder rate at 56 per 100,000 residents compared to El Salvador's 50, Guatemala's 22 and Honduras' 38.

And that's an old statistic, El Salvador has been getting even better than that lately.
2264  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2024 Bitcoin Halving - What are Your Expectations!!! on: January 09, 2023, 11:56:49 PM
~snip~
I can't imagine how expensive Bitcoin will become after the block reward is reduced to less than 1 BTC. Market prices would probably be in the "millions" by then. People usually become excited after each halving event, since they're indicators of a substantial increase in market prices. If history repeats itself, then it's likely BTC will go to the moon by 2024 (when the next block reward halving will occur).

Of course, the global economy would need to recover before we can talk about BTC reaching a new ATH in price. Central banks won't keep raising interest rates forever, so I'm pretty confident things will look bright next year. Who knows if BTC manages to beat Fiat for good? Just my thoughts Grin

Well, the 2024 halving combined with the fact that central banks will be allowed to have up to 2% of Bitcoin in their reserves from 2025 paints a pretty good picture to the next couple of years of Bitcoin adoption.

I think the price of one Bitcoin will pass the $100k mark in the next 2 years based on those two events alone.
2265  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: January 09, 2023, 12:03:34 PM
I don't know how AI would give us an accurate results, one thing i know is that predicting a match is more to an AI work even most times we humans finds it difficult determines who wins the match. Let's say for a gambling or casino site to start allowing such in their website would be a thing not acceptable to them, in as much we planning to win correctly they are also wanting to maximize their profits which limiting some forms of AI and tools on their website.

The thing with a casino is that the games are already set with odds so that the house is always in favor.

That means that even if you have a super AI that calculates everything, every single possible move you can make in a casino has at best a slight advantage to the casino.

This is why casinos make such amounts of money, because it's basically taking all the money from all the players in the long term, and paying sporadically to some players, some times.
2266  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Digital dollar a threat to Bitcoin ? on: January 09, 2023, 12:01:09 PM
The general pubic does not know the difference between centralized and decentralized... and they simply do not care about that. They care about some government giving the "green" flag on a currency that they can use everywhere.  Angry

We have a huge task to educate people on the difference between the two technologies and what the threat will be to use a centralized technology.  Roll Eyes

This is actually quite true.

Most people actually might end up preferring something centralized as it's usually simpler and easier to use. For example Google, Facebook, etc, instead of simply the Web 1.0, which was decentralized but "for geeks only".

Similar with Bitcoin, it started "for geeks only" but now it's made easy with lots of centralized companies.
2267  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should your wife or husband know your seed phrase? on: January 09, 2023, 11:59:08 AM
Maybe I'll just tell you about where I always keep it or how I store it. But I'm pretty sure a lot of people here don't tell their wives about seed phrases. Not because I didn't want to tell. but because most wives are not too interested to ask their husbands about this further. so it's not because of a matter of believing or not in a wife. But because sometimes a wife is rarely interested in this. At least that's what I hear a lot. so that the husband does not have the right time to tell everything.

I think it's wise to have some kind of inheritance planned out, specially in case of an accident for example.

But in normal day to day life?, I don't think it's necessary to give your spouse the keys to your bitcoin. I mean, what would be the benefit of it?, I can mostly just see negatives in that.
2268  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: January 09, 2023, 11:57:12 AM

There is no need to worry about the aging stars who will no longer be competing in the next World Cup, as their stardom will be replaced by new stars with all their strengths and weaknesses. Granted, both stars have records that will remain possible for a long time to come but football will not stop being the most exciting sport in the world just because they are retiring.
Mbappe will be one of the stars that will shine at the World Cup and given that there will be changes to the number of national team that will participate in the 2026 World Cup, we as football lovers will get more matches and hopefully more interesting matches than ever before, but it seems that the increase in the number of participants will not be able to make my country's national team participate there, there will still be too much to fix in order to qualify for the World Cup.

I'm happy with the new players starting to appear, Qatar world cup was a nice farewell for lots of aging players, and you could see how younger players were thriving in there.

Can't wait to see them in the 2026 world cup. Also I think many records will be broken in there because now there will probably be a longer world cup, therefore more chances to score.

Not sure how that will affect the ratings, or the records because scoring X amounts of goals in previous world cups was harder given that there were fewer games...

We'll have to wait and see how it goes.

The thing is that we really don't know whether we should trust him in the first place, and for sure majority has regret their decisions to believed SBF in the beginning. But we can't do anything as FTX already collapses, he has a court case and potential for a jail time together with 2 others.

So that is very hard for investors to see in the beginning, trust is subjective, so it's up to us whether we are going to trust another person in crypto.

Or just learn from this mistakes to just used the old and reliable exchanges.

There shouldn't really be any need to trust anyone with Bitcoin really. That's the whole point of it.

Not sure why so many people are just sending their coins to companies and trusting them. In the end many people will lose a lot of money because of these companies.

History keeps repeating itself, and people don't seem to learn, ever. The same will continue to happen in the future.
2270  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting strategy question on: January 09, 2023, 11:38:59 AM

But are you saying that in six rolls, only one win is possible?

Does it also mean that "minimum bet increments to reduce the risk of going bust" is the best strategy?

It's just math, they're saying that if you throw a dice, each number has one in six chances of appearing. That's it.

The minimum bet simply means they can continue to play for a longer time, so that eventually they would win in that scenario(where you have advantage against the house). The lesser you bet, the more bets you can make with a fixed amount of money.

The issue is that you eventually either lose all your money, or you might also hit the maximum bet (if you keep doubling your bets to try to win)
2271  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador will be the richest country in the world in 8 years? on: January 09, 2023, 11:34:15 AM
An abrupt growth in the economy can't be experienced in another eight years time. The adoption have helped the country grow it's economy on certain industry. In particular after the adoption of bitcoin, the tourism industry have experienced a 30% rise in revenue. Same as this one by one there'll be growth. For this it takes years and to be the richest country is to stand against the first world countries.

The progress needs to take place in a gradual way. El Salvador will stand high as the bitcoin rich country within the next eight years.

I think a lot of people have heard about El Salvador because of Bitcoin, and many people are visiting and spending money there because of it.

That in itself is a huge win for El Salvador.

Even the second country that made it legal tender, Central African Republic, is not as famous as El Salvador.
2272  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Bloody Year 2022 coming to End on: January 09, 2023, 11:19:35 AM
The truth is something must happen to cause the greatest correction after every new Bitcoin ATH, where that will come from doesn't matter unless you are new to crypto, I was expecting something like this to happen the moment BTC hit 67,000$ and this will keep happening after every new all time high, I won't expect much from this year until BTC halving takes place but it's definitely a great time to start accumulating BTC.

Yeah, the base price of Bitcoin will probably continue to raise every few years.

The thing is that on top of that base price we will have lots of fluctuations generated by a huge amount of diverse factors.

At the end of the day, if fundamentals continue to exist, then the price should increase in the long term.

Ronaldo is already 37 years old and after this contract with Saudi league he'll be more than 40 so that's all for his football career and he should retire.  He has played alot of football and best of his times and 40+ his stamina and energy will definitely decrease.  Although his spirit and enthusiasm us in peak but he can't play after that.

At this world cup he already was benched and his substitute played well better than him.

I don't think he'll be even called to the next world cup to be honest.

It was his last chance, and he just didn't perform.

If there are no something happen in bitcoin for sure more and more people will adopt bitcoin and also businesses that will accept this as payment method . Though I don't hear that central banks will be able to have 2% reserves of bitcoin. Where did you get this info ? But for sure in the future after halving the price will be stabilize in couple of months then after it bitcoin will be making again a new ATH.

I read it directly from the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), which is basically the Central Bank of Central Banks.

Here's the report: https://www.bis.org/bcbs/publ/d545.pdf

Here's some news about it: Basel Committee Finalizes Policy Suggesting 2% Bitcoin Exposure Cap For Banks
2275  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will not become the world currency. on: January 07, 2023, 11:06:52 AM
The interesting thing is, Bitcoin doesn't need government approval to become the world currency. With the level of popularity and awareness Bitcoin has attained in recent years, It might not necessarily become the world currency, but it can become the most preferred means of payment which the world is gradually coming to. It will come to a point the world will lose hope in government policies because of it failures and irregularities and Bitcoin will become the next channel of concern and this done without government approvals or concern.

Absolutely true.

Right now Strike for example is using Bitcoin to transfer money around the world, it's already working in El Salvador, Argentina, and USA.

It's basically being used as the world currency (for those 3 countries so far, but more coming in the future).

It's just common sense, the underlying network for money transfer will be Bitcoin, then they will skip fiat altogether.

I also don't understand and I don't think it was a good idea. In my opinion it totally removes the glamour and protagonism of a country as the registered brand of the World Cup's edition. When we talk about previous World Cups it's nice to attach each of them to a different country, as the culture of the countries which host the event become a symbol of their respective editions. Now with Canada, USA and Mexico hosting a World Cup, all of them at once, it becomes a confusing event with no original and memorable traits at all. Maybe they did this to cut expenses for the hosts, so the costs are splitted between the three parts, but strange anyway.

It's not the first time that this was done though, Korea-Japan 2002 comes to mind, and it was quite successful without any major issues.

Now, this one will definitely be a step forward and will cover a vast amount of distance, plus a third country, so we'll see how it goes.

But in any case, almost all the games are going to be played in the USA, so only a minority of matches will be hosted in Canada and Mexico. This means that not everyone will have to travel to three countries.
2277  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: January 07, 2023, 02:39:37 AM
I don't think it's optimal for the teams in terms of logistics. If you have to travel from the North of America to Mexico for a match, it has a lot of influence. I am not only talking about the travel time, but also about the difference in temperature. It is a nice initiative that they organize it in 3 countries, but far from ideal for players and teams. I assume that all top countries will qualify for the tournament without any problems. The advantage for Canada is that they have already qualified in this way because they are also an organizing country of the tournament. Mexico and the USA should normally be strong enough to qualify on their own.

Yeah, going from very cold to very hot would be an issue.

There's also the fact that these places will have very different altitudes, so oxygen might be an issue. This is typical in South America when players go to Bolivia, which is very high, they tend to go a few days earlier to adapt their bodies to the altitude.

Yeah, not sure how well it's going to be, but at the end of the day, the vast majority of matches are going to happen in the US only anyway, so I guess many people will never actually go to the three countries.
2278  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Now is the perfect time to invest in Bitcoin on: January 07, 2023, 02:36:57 AM

Currently now the price of Bitcoin is far below $19000 and very good position to buy more. I myself have set up a plan on how to gradually increase my bag with the fractions I will be purchasing with spare cash when ever I have it on me. This current market situation is favourable to own more bitcoin as the case maybe. If you can take advantage of it better for you that way.

It's definitely on the lower side, but we cannot really know how low it can go or for how long.

The best is to always buy Bitcoin with money that you won't be needing in years.

If you need the money and then sell at a loss then it would be hard to see the price rising in the future.

People should do this way on where they should really be that mindful on keeping off their coins on any centralized services or platforms. They might be that popular
or known but we arent that blind not to see into those past events or situations on where it does involve these kind of issues like hacking, bankruptcy so called
or whatsoever the reason they would really be calling out which would result on running all the money that someone uses up with that platform.
As for SBF then it isnt really that different into those past owners of exchange platforms the thing here is that he had just been caught.

It's pretty clear now as we have multiple examples over the years.

If you don't have the keys to the coins, they're not your coins, and that's it.

You need to withdraw your coins from whatever company or service you're using to have full 100% self custody of your funds.

You cannot really trust anyone with your coins, the moment it hits their wallet, it's theirs.

Nothing has changed really, and these kind of things will continue to happen because people continue to trust on third parties.

If the marriage will lead to husband or wife also becoming heir, will they be able to convince the fiscal authorities that they do _not_ know the key in the incident of inheritance?

The moment any coins move from the address they will know that she has the keys.

So, it's pretty simple to check if anyone has control of a dead man's keys.
