2261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoiners' Novel Approach to Find Cure for COVID-19: Biohacking on: March 13, 2020, 06:58:54 PM
There is a reason for all the bureaucracy.

If you pump the vaccines out before they are properly tested then you could induce much worst symptoms than the Coronavirus itself produces.

There have been cases where vaccines and even standard antivirals have produced such a strong immune response than the patient goes into shock or suffers sepsis.

Obviously these potential side effects would be unacceptable against a virus that only has a slight chance of killing.

We need to take our time with the vaccine, the immune system is not something that should be tampered with lightly.
2262  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi transferred BTC in 2017 ? on: March 13, 2020, 06:17:03 PM
There were likely several hundred miners that operated in early 2010.

Unless that wallet contained funds from one of the very first mined blocks (which it doesn't), there is no real point speculating whether it could be Satoshi.

At the moment, the odds are one in hundreds, definitely not worth following up on IMO.
2263  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: COVID-19: Avoid casino, play online on: March 13, 2020, 04:39:36 PM
So far the government hasn't issued much of a clampdown where I'm at, but the streets are practically empty anyway.

Looks like people are actually taking COVID-19 quite serious and are staying at home even when they don't have symptoms, at least in here in NY anyway.

I actually think that most brick and mortar casinos are probably shutting down right about now anyway, at least until the virus blows over. Crowded places are the worst and everybody is avoiding them now, so I doubt business is good.

Buckle up bois, it's going to be a wild ride!

Hi all,

Despite the drop to 4.6k, we are still in business, still no liquidation in sight.
Trade history will be provided end of March.
Best.
__M

Curious to see how this turns out, and would be very surprised if you manage to go positive.

Let's see how this low risk strategy stands up against yesterday's unprecedented crypto dump  Grin
2265  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can writing how hard you worked for earning money restrict you from gambling? on: March 12, 2020, 11:16:20 PM
Absolutely not.

People gamble their money because they don't want to work hard for more money, that's the entire system—easy money.

If people cared about how hard getting the money was, they wouldn't spend it on stupid crap like designer clothes, the latest iPhone or tattoos that cost $5,000 a pop.

There is absolutely no relationship between the time-cost of money and the odds of somebody gambling it.
2266  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CALL OF DUTY Launches Game with Virtual Currency on: March 12, 2020, 10:17:45 PM
It's unclear whether this cryptocurrency is actually based on blockchain tech, or if it's just a virtual currency as is quite common nowadays?

Searching online, I can't find any information about which platform the token is launched on, or if it even has a decentralized ledger behind it?

Seems like this would be the most important information, but its completely omitted.
2267  Economy / Exchanges / Re: > 🔥 Bitcoin Fees 50% Less with Coinbase Batching🔥 < on: March 12, 2020, 09:39:11 PM
So Coinbase is now doing what practically every other major cryptocurrency exchange has been doing for a year now?

And this is news?

Surely Coinbase should be trying to keep this a secret, since it shows its absolute technical inferiority compared to many other exchange platforms.

Even some of the worst exchanges implement transaction batching.

Also, Coinbase are still massively overpriced. Only complete noobs use Coinbase whereas most knowledgeable crypto traders stay well away.
2268  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ POLL ]: Boxing - Anthony Joshua vs Kubrat Pulev on: March 12, 2020, 07:23:21 PM
This is going to be a demolition job that's for sure.

Look what Joshua did to Povetkin, who is arguably a better version of Pulev—knocked him out in devastating fashion.

I personally think that Pulev is far too slow and clunky to pose much of a threat to AJ. So it's going to be an early stoppage, probably a serious knockout in the 4th or 5th.

The odds aren't good enough for me to bother betting on it though, the event will probably get cancelled anyway due to the virus outbreak.
2269  Economy / Gambling / Re: ⭐ Crypto-Games.net ⭐ 0.8% House Edge on Dice ⭐Largest Wagering contest...ever ⭐ on: March 12, 2020, 04:44:31 PM
There's some absolutely crazy wins on the high roller chart now;

gamblingbad managed to get away with an incredible 6.4 BTC in profit, whereas one anonymous user appears to have won several large amounts in a row.

Something tells me these guys are now completely unphased by today's bearish market action  Grin

Congrats!
2270  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin fall bellow 3000$ and Gold price will increase? on: March 12, 2020, 02:38:05 PM
I think today's sudden crash was just a knee-jerk response to COVID-19 being declared a pandemic.

There really isn't anything else that can be said about COVID-19 now that would produce an even worse response than we already saw today, so I think we have seen the worst of it, at least in terms of sudden severity.

We might still trend a bit lower from here since the virus is nowhere near finished, and people are looking to hold more liquid assets like cash during what idiots think is the end of the world.

Pretty stupid really, but it always happens. Smart investors know to short the market when a pandemic is declared, while the rich are going to have a field-day buying up the cheap shares and properties that result from the mass hysteria.

At the end of it, the idiots will be left poorer and the rich will be richer, as things always were.
2271  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: (Yes or NO) The 2020s belong to DEXs on: March 11, 2020, 11:52:02 PM
Obviously not.

The vast majority of decentralized exchange platforms are clunky messes. Have you ever actually tried to trade regularly on a DEX? It's an absolute nightmare.

Unless professional traders can be provided with the liquidity and advanced order types they have come to expect from centralized platforms, then there's no chance they're going to make the switch.

Think about it, even some of the largest centralized exchanges can't even keep up with the sudden burst in demand sometimes, DEX's will get absolutely ruined during these times.

Not even close to seeing a real mainstream DEX yet.
2272  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Hardware wallet ledger with ledger live on: March 11, 2020, 10:39:53 PM
When you originally setup your wallet you should have been provided a mnemonic phrase, this can be imported into any other HD wallet.

Also, Ledger Live doesn't need Ledger's servers to be online, so even if Ledger goes down, Ledger Live will still work.

You can test this by trying to connect to Ledger Live on an offline device, you will find that it still works even when the computer is offline.
2273  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING ]: Fury vs Wilder III in Las Vegas on 18th July 2020 !!! on: March 11, 2020, 09:38:09 PM
.....anything can still happen here.

This is what the fans of Wilder wants to see, because Wilder's chance to win is to only KO Fury cold since he can't box him out, Fury is taller and he is a good boxer than Wilder as we have seen in the last two fights, so Wilder needs to double time and work harder.

From what I heard, Deontay Wilder is already a hard worker in the gym, it's not like he was slacking at all.

You can't gain like 15lbs of pure muscle in a pure months like he did without being diligent and putting in the work.

That said, I really don't think he'll be able to change much in four months. He got beat at his own game... Fury came and put to pressure on Wilder and backed him up the whole fight, then unloaded bombs on him the whole time.

What's Wilder going to do? Practice throwing his right hand even more? Practice not wearing 40lbs suits before the fight? Learn how to box?!

He got whooped twice, and the third time is coming. I don't thin there has ever been a trilogy fight where the person has come back and won the third after losing the first two (yes I count the first draw as a loss, because Fury got robbed).
2274  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Best TRON Gambling dApps to Play Right Now? on: March 11, 2020, 08:21:11 PM
I would stay away from Tron gambling dapps if I were you. Looks like both EOS and Tron gambling dapps have lost a huge amount of support in the last year, and most are likely going to close down if they haven't already.

Check out this recent report from dappradar https://dappradar.com/blog/defi-activity-rises-294-yoy-as-ethereums-dominance-grows-dapp-ecosystem-overview#Key-takeaways

Overall, EOS and Tron dapps are down around 80% in the last year, with gambling dapps suffering the worst.
2275  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as Means of Donation on: March 11, 2020, 12:02:41 AM
Unless Bitcoin is being directly provided to the recipients, then I really don't see the benefit of adding Bitcoin as payment method to donation platforms—it just leads to less money eventually reaching the end-user.

After all, surely these platforms are going to have to cash out their BTC for cash, then they'll get charged a commission of let's assume 1% overall.

That means only 99% of the money actually ends up in their account for disbursement.

Simply sending the equivalent in cash to this same account would yield 100% of the value, thereby doing more to aid charitable causes.

I mean I can understand adding additional options for those who can ONLY pay with Bitcoin, but other than those rare cases, cash is simply better in this case.

That's my unpopular opinion on the subject.
2276  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does anyone pay for slandering gambling websites on Bitcointalk? on: March 10, 2020, 11:17:50 PM
Do you really think that anybody who pays other people to slander websites on here would outright admit it?

Wouldn't that completely undermine their agenda? Similarly, do you think that somebody paid to slander somebody else would admit that and then oust their client.... Obviously not.

The truth is there are almost certainly some companies on here that employ people to slander their main competitors. However, I wouldn't expect they would hire outside agencies to do this, since it's quite possible it could get leaked.

The best way to find out whether or not this occurs is by approaching all the different companies and see if they'll take you up on an offer to bash their competitors—I doubt many will.
2277  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do not blame it on Corona outbreak on: March 10, 2020, 10:24:01 PM
In reality, the coronavirus should be driving people towards assets that don't rely on centralized infrastructure to succeed, e.g. Bitcoin.

However, the recent downturn is likely related to a whale dumping swathes of BTC, or a lack of volume caused by a lack of interest in the market. I really don't think that Coronavirus scare has had any influence on the market whatsoever.

You need to realize that news outlets try to find whatever tenuous link to a crash they possibly can just so they can make the news.

That involves grasping at whichever straw is closest—which is the Coronavirus in this case.
2278  Economy / Speculation / Re: Convert or HODL? on: March 09, 2020, 11:54:08 PM
I'm staying well away from the market right now. It's too uncertain.

I recommend placing some buy orders above strong resistance zones, e.g. $10,000, $13,000 etc.

No point playing around in the market right now unless you're scalping or arbing. It's just asking to get rekt.
2279  Economy / Gambling / Re: ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ PlayBitcoinGames.com ♠ ♣ ♦ ♥ Casino with 27 Unique Games and Promotions! on: March 09, 2020, 11:05:56 PM
I'd really recommend changing your ANN image, it's unsightly in my opinion.

It doesn't really portray a professional demeanor, and is really quite cheap to fix.

PlayBitcoinGames.com has received almost 50,000 views from this thread, why not put your best foot forward and use some of your website graphical assets to produce something more attractive for BTT readers?
2280  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Reason behind recent drops in crypto haven on: March 09, 2020, 10:29:22 PM
Well, I really don't think this is the case to be honest.

24 hour trading volume is currently listed as $173 billion.

Let's assume that 90% of this is wash trading, that leaves us with 17.3% billion worth of cryptocurrencies changing hands each day.

Now, let's make another assumption and assume that 50% of this involves bitcoin trade pairs, that's around $8.5 billion worth of BTC changing hands each day.

Thus, even if they did dump 10,000 BTC at once (which only a complete moron trying to draw attention to themselves would do), this would only be around $78,500,000 dumped on the market—or 1% of the daily trade volume.

Overall, it's clear that this was caused by far more than just a simple dump.
