2281  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can somebody explain me step by step how can I make paper wallet? on: March 17, 2015, 07:17:42 PM
1)Download the zip file from BitAddress: https://www.bitaddress.org

2)Unplug PC ethernet or disable wireless network connection so PC is completely offline.

3)Extract zip file onto a folder on the desktop, then double click on the bitaddress.org file inside this folder to launch bitaddress offline website.

4)Mouse around and type letters into the textbox until your public and private keys and QR codes are generated.

5)Once generated, click on Paper Wallet and 3 wallet addresses with both public and private keys available to use.  Highly recommended to plug into a printer via USB to print your Paper Wallets, then you should be able to fund them safely.

6)Once funded, place them in a zip lock bag or air tight plastic bag or laminated paper to water proof.

7)Close out of the offline BitAddress site, and restore your internet connection

8)Stick them in fire proof safe or keep a few for spending.

Very interesting project.  Bitcoin satellites in outer space!!

Here's the Scribd:

Wow, $1 million for one BitSat and $19 million for a 24 unit BitSat....space is friggin' expensive!   Tongue
2283  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What's more lucrative - mining or high rank signature campaign? on: March 17, 2015, 06:18:16 PM
Unless you have this:

Mining is a suckers game at any tier or level, but especially if you don't have a good hosting/asic manufacturer bulk deal.

I'll take high rank sig campaign anyday....get paid a few bucks for typing a few intelligent lines, sign me up!
2284  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Simple question... Power cords. on: March 17, 2015, 05:45:34 PM
Will one be sufficient to power both sides (blades) of the s3, or do I need to order 2 for each S3 for a total of 6?

I appreciate your help and am anxious to get into bitcoin mining with these.

Tom Travis

One of these double cables per S3, so total of 3.
2285  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Simple question... Power cords. on: March 17, 2015, 05:04:30 PM
This should do it:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/28-8-Pin-to-Two-6-2-Pin-PCI-E-Modular-Power-Supply-Cable-Version-1-/231426065770?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35e211856a

It'll connect to both sides of the Antminer s3 and has the 8 pin into the eVGA power supply:

2286  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Simple question... Power cords. on: March 17, 2015, 03:46:24 PM
Close, but I don't want it to be a splitter because they will be carrying 200w of power each.

I think I am looking for a 6Pin to 8Pin PCI Express cable about 8 inches long.  I need 6 of them.

Startech?

http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-Express-Power-Adapter-PCIEX68ADAP/dp/B001TK3TJY

I've used these on Antminers S1s in the past.  They're over 8 inches long and work really well.
2287  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Complete the sentence... [I would buy Bitcoin because..] on: March 17, 2015, 03:37:40 PM
I would buy Bitcoin because..I don't have to worry about checking or savings fees or interest or annual credit card fees or having a minimum account balance or wire fees or western union fees or having to wait several hours or days to send to loved ones overseas or exorbitant exchange fees when cashing out to fiat if travelling or providing my ID or second form of ID constantly when making large purchases or minimum or maximum withdrawal amounts from my atm or worrying about a check to clear or having the notorious chargeback by PayPal or Ebay when a good or service is rejected or......

(exhales then inhales again)

I would buy Bitcoin....because it's the "new" money y'all!   Cool
2288  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Simple question... Power cords. on: March 17, 2015, 03:19:06 PM
It is the EVGA power cords going between the power supply to the antminer.  I believe it is the 6 pin to 8 pin.  I bought some of the "mini" version.  Can these be bought individually for less money?

Perhaps something like this:

2289  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Simple question... Power cords. on: March 17, 2015, 03:06:22 PM
I just bought 3 antminer s3's and a 1300 watt evga supernova power supply as several different items on ebay.  These items are starting to arrive but the power cords I bought turned out to be not correct.

I would appreciate if someone would reply with a link to an amazon.com or ebay item what would be the correct vga power cable I need.  Thanks in advance.....   Tom

Power cords for which?  The power supply?  Isn't it standard AC computer power cord:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812201007&cm_re=ac_power_cord-_-12-201-007-_-Product

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812119266&cm_re=ac_power_cord-_-12-119-266-_-Product

If you're referring to needing more video power connectors for the 1300 watt EVGA PSU, than these are a little pricey, but contain the whole set:

Part number is: 100-CR-1300-B9

edit: what a touching story. Bitcoin saved the day Smiley

yeah I got pretty emo reading that, I've know lophie as a community member whose posts I respect for some time so good to see older members getting something back. What is annoying is the number of scams that over balance the scales when it comes to this sort of thing...

There is a really cute thread somewhere a while back started by a kid raising money for his dog to have an operation. The potential donors were quite rigorous requesting proof, and ultimately a few guys covered the entire costs and there's now a nice trail of photos and heart warming thank you posts and such Smiley

Oh yea, the pirate dog I believe.  Wanted to believe that dude from Brazil, but with Lophie it was sorta instantaneous.

There was no scam alarms, no spidey sense tingling, and I just felt inclined to chip in what I could in helping Lophie out in his time of distress.  Just seemed genuine off the bat....
2291  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Help me please. on: March 17, 2015, 01:46:48 PM
I want to invest in mining, And I want your advice :

1- Would I buy this product or not :

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bitcoin-Miner-7-TH-s-Two-KNC-Neptunes-2-EVGA-1200W-Platnum-Powersupply/171716807963?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D28773%26meid%3D0124c1fb3e9f4e9dba373b4fc9a34002%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D2%26sd%3D121590909668

And if the answer is no, How would you advise me about other products.

2- Or invested in mining Cloud.(And any companies advise me , and why)

Thank you  Smiley

Just buy Bitcoins at the moment, no need to mine at the moment.  Doesn't make sense to lose money with no hope of recovering your investment.

And if you're going to mine anyways, make sure you read this about cloud mining:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=878387.0

Basically, there's no cloud mining worth entering, as 99% of them are all scams or ponzi schemes.

Need some context here.  You can't just post a 3 word topic headline, a blurb in the post body, then just bounce.

Only thing I've seen regarding Sybil attacks is the recent one in the news about compliance company Chainalysis:

2293  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: hhuummm Bitcoin and credit cards on: March 17, 2015, 01:06:28 PM
Easiest way to buy Bitcoins with your credit cards in the US is Coinbase and Circle.  There are some verification hoops to jump through, but after that initial setup, it's all easy peezy.

Another alternative way to get Bitcoin using credit card is through https://brawker.com/.  It's a more roundabout way, using Brawker's online marketplace to fill an order to receive Bitcoins, but overall trusted by most accounts.

2295  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is this bad or good news? on: March 17, 2015, 12:45:33 PM
What do they often say "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery", well I think that applies here with the IBM news.

IBM, a multi billion dollar company, trying to copycat Bitcoin's blockchain can only be a win win.

Anytime, you have a competitor trying to copy your ideas, ultimately fail, and cause people to just focus on the original is just good news period.
2296  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Rakuten Starts Accepting Bitcoin in the US on: March 17, 2015, 12:22:36 PM
Very good news indeed!  Maybe this will cause the ball to start rolling for adoption from Amazon.

Each little bit of a news is an important piece of the puzzle.  Building blocks to mass adoption and mainstream use.

Glad to see you were able to gather enough loan funds for your tickets, Lophie.

Just came across this thread, and was just about to login to Coinbase to lend you, but looks like you're good now.

Best of luck and best wishes to you and your wife.

Actually I am almost there The last one that was about to pledge 1 btc was wanting the account as collateral but I already gave it as collateral for a member who offered first so PLEASE go ahead and login and lend me something. really anything helps. Right now I think I have the ticket covered and if I can raise like another $50 I will use it for basic medicine and a meal or two

Funding my wallet, please standby as I wait for these confirmations...
