2281  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Mtgox have big issues I bet other exchanges are in the same position on: February 25, 2014, 11:33:22 AM
I bet that the same problems with mtgox are with other exchanges.

Beware were you put your money because exactly like mtgox other exchanges will have issues paying their customers.

It is only a matter of time before other bitcoin exchanges show the same hack issues like mtgox, or maybe there was never a hack in mtgox, they were hacked by themselves to take everybody people money.

The best and easy way for a company to shutdown and take everybody money is to tell that they got hacked, they will blame others for their problems, that way people will get mad directly to an anonymous hacker instead of mtgox directly.

The mtgox people are professional scammers and I bet that other exchangers are in the same position.

keep that up, I missed the $400 btc and I'd sure like to experience it ...

more FUD, do your thing
2282  Economy / Speculation / Re: TIP: Buy now because the prices dip is now ending on: February 25, 2014, 11:15:13 AM
Already climbing strong over $500, bad news is out, onward and upward!  Grin

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO I slept through $400+
hahahaa
2283  Economy / Speculation / Re: TIP: Buy now because the prices dip is now ending on: February 25, 2014, 11:13:15 AM
With the Gox debacle out of the way the prices are going to rise steadily now. You wont EVER see the price this low again. Time to buy

Mtgox is offline. They will never return people money or bitcoins.

I see bitcoin price to go below $100 in less than 2 weeks.

Right now is the worst time to buy bitcoin

dude "2weeks" of cryptocurrency time is about a decade in real time.  If you want to make a prediction tell me what it will be tomorrow.
2284  Economy / Speculation / Re: China buying alot bitcoins? on: February 25, 2014, 11:04:01 AM
They are buying bitcoins in HUGE numbers, really interesting haven't expected this to happen. Which also explains the quick price recovery from $400. When people wake up they won't be happy about missing out on the dip  Cheesy

I too slept through the $400's, oh well I got some at $509  was very pleased until I heard someone got a lot at $463

as for china, they have the biggest market, and biggest exchange, it's no wonder they would buy the most, sell the most, and anything else about bitcoin the most.
2285  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CoinBase Ran Out Of Coins ... [BLANK STARE] on: February 25, 2014, 10:58:06 AM
I missed dips in the market because of research, because of security, because of documentation, and because of bad timing, but NOW when I think I have all of my ducks in a row just when I'm about to pull the trigger (on some $515. btc)  Coinbase says:

'sorry, we're sold out'

What??   It's 4pm on a Monday, get to transferring some coin from safe 'B' to safe 'A'.

Dagnamit!

I love your positive attitude but Overstock and Tigerdirect have started to dump massive amounts of Bitcoin trying to immediately cash out. They are two major US stores who accept bitcoins now. So keep watching because Bitcoins will continue dropping because people are now spending them.

According to a statement made before the NYS regulators recently http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHoaWqwaIi0&index=9&list=PLEUe0yAulQTtJp-KuUVxx_acD0B4cOh7o Overstock immediate sells all btc upon receipt so their pricing system doesn't take a hit.   If they did "hold" btc, they are not likely to do a sell off of them before no longer accepting them for payment.

I'll look into the tigerdirect thing, thanks.

I'm so close to using my credit card balance here...

I think it's still got some fall left in it but I'm in complete awe right now. This is amazing and terrifying at the same time.

stagger your buy on the way down,  don't look for the absolute floor on this the market's are just too unstable to know what will happen when it gets there
2287  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CoinBase Ran Out Of Coins ... [BLANK STARE] on: February 25, 2014, 10:33:17 AM
The price dip is due to mtgox clossing once this sorted out price would be back to 800 or even much higher.

I agree that Mt. Gox has a lot to do with the downward trend, however that part of the dip proceeded the news, as such you could expect a further dip of about $100 just on the news of Mt Gox's death.

The market will rebound based on how the remaining exchanges react to the loss.  If they take not overtly positive actions the rates will linger at a low price, however if they respect the loss then find a way to celebrate with the community the markets will shoot up like a rocket.  The greater their celebration the higher the price will go.

2288  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CoinBase Ran Out Of Coins ... [BLANK STARE] on: February 25, 2014, 10:27:40 AM
Congratulations, Armis, I think you've discovered a new economic indicator: Coinbase hot-wallet BTC inventory

When they tell you they're "out", thus creating the appearance that a buying spree is taking place, that is a very negative indicator.  Expect bitcoin to plummet.

...or maybe it's just coincidence that they ran out on a Monday afternoon, shortly before issuing a public statement sure to send the market into a tailspin...

I think both statements are perfectly valid, thanks for that.

Glad they got more coins together to purchase. I got a good chunk from them as well.

stagger the buys, prices are still tumbling as the exchanges must reassure the market in light of what occurred with Mt. Gox

2290  Economy / Speculation / Re: Get Ready To Do Some BTC Shopping ... on: February 25, 2014, 10:19:11 AM
BTC is taking an respectful bow at the loss of a giant (MT. GOX) in the cryptocurrency industry.   As such prices are going down so you can buy up.
2291  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CoinBase Ran Out Of Coins ... [BLANK STARE] on: February 25, 2014, 01:44:16 AM
Wow! I didn't even realise that was a thing that could happen!

Like McDonals they have a really good idea of what to expect, in terms of trades each day, so they try to keep those coins online for that, and when traffic gets heavy flags start to wave to announce an unplanned buying pattern.   Once those flags start to fly mgmt gets more coin so that they could take care of the new unexpected traffic.

As the ceo of coinbase explains, most of the coins are held off line, some locally, some not so local but in state, then more out of state by in country, then key parts for the remainder scattered around the world (perhaps 5 places).  This way a major alarm doesn't have to sound if the need is only for coins stored offline locally.

They're back up again...

Thanks for that, I missed the $515 but was able to get $517 so I'm pleased, thanks again.

I'm trying to grab up some bits here and there as it goes down hoping to see it break under $500.

Looks like $500 btc is coming round that mountain, and for a Monday, to me that portend a really good shopping week.

you ready

I am saving like hell to buy btc@100 in btc-e or coinbase, that is why retail sales number is going down week after week.  Cheesy

$100, really?

I can't see that happening, I will be out of cash before it reaches $350.

How do you arrive at $100?

I just tried to buy btc @$515 @ Coinbase but got this message:

"Note! We've exceeded our normal buy limits for today. If you would still like to purchase you will receive the market price of bitcoin on Friday Feb 28, 2014 at 04:39PM PST after your funds have arrived"

2296  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin shop in London on: February 25, 2014, 12:25:50 AM
great idea and hope he does well but the shop does look rather odd and uninviting from the outside?!

The photog is showing you the best side, believe me, I saw the video.

Nevertheless, if you look at the service for what it is you stand to appreciate the bare bones a bit more.

Can anyone give me the address of this place? I'm staying in E1 at the moment, would love to go check this place out!

yeah at mtgox maybe Cheesy

hehe
I think 1000$ is comming Smiley

Mt Gox?  what's that?   ahahaha, nope, I'm not talking about a high of $500, like at Mt Gox, I"m talking about a low of $500 so that you can begin your shopping spreeeee.

Presently the market is at the lowest btc point for the year, it stands to reason that if it continues to dip it's only to prepare for an oncoming rise.   Which is why I'm suggesting you ready your shopping carts.

2298  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should the foundation apologize to GOX?! on: February 24, 2014, 10:16:06 PM
Bitstamp/Coinbase don't have this problem... Fiat withdrawals were also fucked at Gox.

I thought the fiat withdrawals were permitted, when did that change?

It just sells Bitcoins and that's it? I doubt business will exactly be booming.

The guy's store looks better than him, that tells me he's in it for the long run.  His pricing strategy appears to be on that same level, he wants to appeal to the masses, get the customer list bulked-up so that he becomes a relevant player.

The cryptocurrency industry is still a kid, btc is only 5yrs, and last year it tried to run for the first time -- got a little scraped up but, you know.

That store owner's conservative yet visionary positions in the space is the type of mentality you want leading your currency movement.  His method of customer acquisition only appears  slow to the untrained eye, his model should be seen as accumulative -- where you go from 1 customer to 2 to 4 to 8 etc, as such in a rather stable and reliable way you build a solid customer based, his business roots run as deep as his business branches grow high and wide.
