2281  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Coin control, what addresses can and can`t be used for change on: June 09, 2021, 12:10:45 PM
Yes you can set the change address to any bitcoin address.

I'd recommend not sending the change to an address that you're going to reuse for better security (just in case) but it's not yet a problem if you do - with larger amounts though I'd support changing the address. Essentially if it's worth it, change it. [extra explanation if you want it] Essentially not reusing addresses or reusing them minimally ensures that if the encryption/signature algorithm is broken, you've got another layer to rely on.

You'll see the "advertise here" link under each banner too that you can use to buy ad space. Youll have to follow all the rules, specifically not being able to use images when you advertise (so you might need to get someone to convert them to HTML/Css).

Investment types schemes and mixers also can't be advertised on the forum.
2283  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: got a virus on my antminer l3+ on: June 08, 2021, 09:52:56 PM
I'd suggest going out and buying a new sd card that will fit it and trying to redo it with that - I think it's possible to install antminer firmware from a new sd card just make sure you copy the relevant stuff across from bitmain's support pages.

Otherwise look up how to format the drive via a disk utility on your computer (but you might expose your computer to malware and your own inexperience if you try to do that).
2284  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to get news about crypto as soon as possibile on: June 08, 2021, 09:42:08 PM
I'm just posting as a placeholder for if anyone knows the site but I know there's one where the community is able to vote in whether an article is accurate or not. I think the articles/headlines are submitted by users of the site too but I'm not sure what the site is called.
2285  Economy / Speculation / Re: I cannot stop buying on: June 08, 2021, 11:27:58 AM
Just stop buying. Regardless of how much you put it, it'll still do well.

Most of us long term holders only put about 5% in to start with, even with dcaing out its still 90%+ of my portfolio. (so up 180x since 2015).
2286  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Let's say you have a large amount of BTC and you on: June 07, 2021, 07:53:55 PM
There's 2 main ways I'd consider:
One of them is peer to peer or over the counter where you'd do multiple smaller trades.
The other would be to buy a stablecoin/stock derivative and wait with that until you find a good time to sell.

There are a few companies that'll allow you to convert crypto to stocks positions and a few that'll hold cash on your behalf from their own issued currency (the main one I can think of is etoro but it might not be the only one - primexbt, bybit and binance also would allow you to take out a 1x long on stocks or the dollar for your crypto.
2287  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: A phishing website of blockchain wallet exists in the first result of Google.. on: June 07, 2021, 07:02:55 PM
I wonder what volutes are...

Also a good suggestion I'd add is to always click the first non ad link you find on a search engine. Ads have to be labelled as such in most juristidictions anyway.
2288  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Segwit to P2SH Nested Segwit on: June 07, 2021, 01:02:40 PM
If you go to the addresses tab or receive tab, what do the addresses begin with?

I don't think you've made sense from what you've done already as it sounds like you might have nested segwit (beginning with a 3) or native segwit (beginning with a bc1) if you have successfully managed to already change wallet type.
2289  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who were the morons that bought 60k bitcoin? on: June 07, 2021, 10:48:38 AM

I still have some of those... mined, not bought though. At one point I was mining at a slight loss because I didn't have money to buy bitcoins outright so I basically indirectly bought them at a 10% premium by getting into debt with the electric supplier LOL. Good times.

OP is a hindsight prophet, easiest job in the world but unfortunately leads to bitter nocoinerism.

Hindsight prophercisers are on the worst pay as well afaik, it's a bad career to go into.

Electric supplier debt is fun Grin.

I am pretty sure nobody sold their BTC at $60K. People either sold some at $20K or $25K or $50K. People were probably going to sell at $75K or $100K. Same like in 2017 nobody sold at $19.9K because they wanted to sell at $20K

I sold some  at 60 k +

Selling new aths is generally a good strategy by the looks of the charts.
You're going to get resistance for now whenever we break (or you were) - hard to predict when thatll stop but selling 10% on a new ath isn't a bad idea to test it still works and try to make that 10% 15.

2290  Economy / Economics / Re: I want to start a crypto project, gimme advice on: June 06, 2021, 09:56:44 PM
So you just have a concept? What's your prototype, is it actually something scripted?
It's working, although not tested.
If you already have a working piece of software even if it is untested you could release it as is, you can be sure that if your project is in fact worth it good developers will immediately realize the worth of your job and could be willing to work for free with you to make your coin a success.

You'll probably either have to release it closed source (potentially with a video demo) or publicly open sourced. If you try to do somewhere in the middle, someone might come along and steal your concept.

I think finding someone to work to free and finding funding are going to be the hard part - you're better off just waiting to raise the funding yourself if you can as therell likely be a trust problem on both sides.

What is your suggested order? I thought it should be this way:

team > followers > investors > clients

Quote
That being said the startup and initial testing will probably not be too expensive if you can get the coding done initially cheap.
Do you know of any boards focused at crypto startups, from the founder's perspective?

Not sure on investors crypto based. You might be better off sourcing those and skills locally to you (or moving/advertising where you can find investors).

The good thing is that it works. Bugs are easier to fix compared to conceptualising how you'll build everything.

The orders also might want to attract followers and team at the same time too to try to get people interested in the project to develop it. You might want to ask for some to apply by solving problems (eg a hackathon) that can be used in the code but using a non winners' code is a red flag and might put off investors.
2291  Other / Archival / Re: SCAM Not Moderated? on: June 06, 2021, 08:44:01 PM
Scams are not moderated.

Moderators are free to work at their own discretion. Generally (some), moderators try to remove obvious scams or known scam trends but it shouldn't be relied on.

They might be the people buying $540 bitcoins in 2015/2016 which was way overpriced from $220 Grin.

2294  Other / Meta / Re: Elon Musk threads are moved to Off-topic ? on: June 06, 2021, 12:51:06 PM
Perhaps you need to register Elontalk.org or recognise people don't care about random investors (especially when there are a lot of topics on the same or similar things).
I myself don't care one whit about "random investors".  However, it's hard to argue that Elon Musk's comments weren't worth talking about in the context of bitcoin (and dogecoin for that matter).  I agree that there were way too many threads about him, but I don't think they all should have been moved to Off-Topic--the ones I saw here and there were focused on his influence on bitcoin, which is a real thing whether you like it or not.

But hey, let the mods do what they want to do as long as it's not something egregiously unreasonable, which this wasn't.

Is the concern here that posts made in the Off-Topic section don't count toward signature campaign earnings?  OP is in the 777Coin campaign, so I'm assuming that might at least be part of why he's complaining about this.

I thought some of the originals remained? No one mentioned about them being moved during the crash, those were probably still there.

The other issue is where the topic is placed, economics and speculation boards don't seem as busy as bitcoin discussion or b&h. It was more reasonable for topics to be moved if there was 4 topics in a row on it for example. 1 per 10 new topics might still be a bit much for that section.

Perhaps, the mods moving them will reduce the urge for posters to create more topics on Elon this, Elon that.

^^ This!
A moderator probably wouldn't have reacted if there were one or two threads. The issue arose when several new topics appeared after each of Musk's tweets. This caused many members to get annoyed, and many of them started reporting these posts to moderators.

I fully support the decision. What's more, merging all threads into a single megathread is a good idea.

Yeah I think it was the sheer number of newbies making topics on the same thing that roused the mods to try to counteract it.

We might need something more responsive (like a protocol) for handling discussions that rise that people might want to make many posts about (a forum wide idea for how to deal with these in the future - eg producing a megathread after a certain number of posts on a topic).
2295  Other / Meta / Re: Elon Musk threads are moved to Off-topic ? on: June 05, 2021, 02:08:51 PM

The guys got a social media addiction, you've got to expect the forum to not want actual newbie discussions being polluted by a bunch of evangelists. Perhaps you could take your discussions on twitter directly there or comment on someone else's topic with your info.
2296  Economy / Speculation / Re: The US dollar could run out soon - Gold can lose value - Elon musk on: June 05, 2021, 01:55:51 PM
Centralised exchanges get hacked. Binance has been hacked in the past and have lost quite a lot.

Propagating messages like these either mean you're misinformed or have no idea what's going on. The upper and working classes that don't do research are fine to pull out of bitcoin/crypto I don't care but if you've invested for the technology rather than getting rich then you should still be happy (lower fees too!) (and if you're just after getting rich then idc).
2297  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: antminer l3+ hashboard appearing and disappearing on: June 05, 2021, 01:31:58 PM
From a hardware standpoint, I think if leaving it running makes it fail from working it might be the internal wiring of the board so it might be worth replacing. There might be tech support with bitmain or on blogs you can check for this sort of information though too to see if there is an easier fix.
2298  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is Bitcoin? Will Bitcoin be traded in all countries in 2025? on: June 05, 2021, 01:28:21 PM
I think bitcoin is traded in every country?

Making something illegal just means it happens more privately and is less advertised. The government's that ban crypto also might be buying it themselves or offering access to larger companies to buy it. These countries aren't really considered large economic players either imo.
2299  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it possible to reward people who own an NFT? on: June 05, 2021, 10:36:20 AM
You might want to look at scripting a smart contract for an airdrop or an ico as this is likely what this is.

The airdrop version of this, would charge you to distribute the nft.
And ico reclaim style system would charge the owners the transaction fees for the new nft.

Both would require some parsing either by the chain or by you to work out who holds the nft. Also if nfts are transferable, have you thought about who owns the copy if they are transferred?
2300  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining Bitcoin at a Glance on: June 04, 2021, 05:51:15 PM
I think it's really likely to be an intentional thing. How else will we be able to make bitcoin slowly but surely scarce besides the supply distribution halvings? I really don't think we can rely on the "lost bitcoin" aspect alone for scarcity.

^If I understood you correctly.

I have two terms: reduced circulation, reduced inflation.

The reduced inflation part of bitcoin was definitely thought out. I don't think people losing funds was something the developers might have expected, I just buy new hard drives and keep a few copies of old files when one of my drives fills up... Realistically, there were attempts to counteract it with hierarchical deterministic methods (eg mnemonics and master keys).

I feel like it can't be just me keeping 4 copies of everything?
