2301  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: AirGap wallet- Self custody made simple and secure - Protect your crypto offline on: May 23, 2023, 06:31:25 PM
So is there a way to revert changes to default state with Reset phone function, and remove AigGap later if we changed out minds?
According to the last FAQ on https://airgap.it/airgap-knox/, there is a reset feature that converts the phone back into a standard Android device.
@Pearson12 Does it require a password or other type of authentification to reset AirGap Knox and uninstall the device manager?
2302  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Recommend a non custodial wallet for IOS on: May 23, 2023, 01:56:59 PM
With blue wallet you can just import your trust wallet seeds or keys and enjoy this features, or better still create new address since trust wallet is not open source.
I can also recommend Blue Wallet. I don't use an iOS device, but if it's as good on iOS phones as the wallet is on Android devices, go for it. I consider it as a go-to mobile wallet that is a step ahead of Electrum anyways.

But I wouldn't recommend importing the Trust Wallet seed. Instead, sweep your bitcoins from Trust Wallet, and don't go back to it. Another reason is that Trust wallet is a multicurrency wallet, while Blue Wallet is bitcoin-only. If OP owns altcoins, he won't be able to use those on the Blue Wallet.

BlueWallet is another excellent option but I'm not sure if they still support Lightning Network.
Blue Wallet only suspended its custodial Lightning Network service. You can still use the wallet in a non-custodial capacity.
2303  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor Suite Lite for mobile on: May 23, 2023, 01:40:09 PM
After a few days of trying Trezor Suite Lite, I found a problem, including the number of assets displayed in the Portfolio balance on the home menu. The graphic didn't appear even though I had tried tapping the 'Try again' button. The graphic only appears when I tap on a previously synced coin asset.
What does the 'Sync my coins' button do that we can see at the bottom of your first page? Can it help to refresh the portfolio view? If you place your finger anywhere on the screen, hold, and swipe downwards, does that refresh the page or does the app miss that option?

How does adding coins work? Does Trezor Suite Lite display them automatically or do you have to add them from some sort of list? I am guessing you only need to import the master public keys.
2304  Economy / Services / Re: [OFNT] [AOBT] The Alliance Of Bitcointalk Translators on: May 23, 2023, 01:24:09 PM
Hey Pmalek, thanks for your offering! I'm sure that it would help if you could make that post you mentioned in your local board Wink
I mentioned that you guys are looking for a Croatian translator in our local Latest News thread. It's one of the most active discussions in the Croatian local board. I hope you find who you are looking for.
2305  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Novosti on: May 23, 2023, 01:20:39 PM
2306  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Foundation Passport Official Thread on: May 22, 2023, 03:39:30 PM
This is not a big deal, but I would like to be able to have few spare batteries I can easily swap anytime... so everyone make sure to have correct BL-5C battery (not similar BL-5CB model)
I remember years ago when I needed spare batteries due to my work, there was a little trick you could do to get a slightly bigger battery to fit in place. Most batteries have like a plastic cap on one side, maybe on both. If you take a knife, you can tear off that cap to reveal the inside component of the battery. It's going to look weird and be a bit sticky because the cap is glued to the battery. However, you get an additional millimeter or two in size reduction, which might be just enough to get the battery to fit inside the device. Do it at your own risk, of course.
2307  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Which best for long term investment? Hardware wallet or Software wallet . on: May 22, 2023, 02:04:24 PM
Well, for me, storing bitcoin is really better for long-term investment using Hardware wallet, because it can store your private key offline even if it's not connected to the internet, so it can't be hacked by a hacker.
It's time we change this narrative because it turns out that it's not completely true. What we considered as cold storage, or almost as good as cold storage is actually not as good as previously advertised. The data on secure element chips can be obtained and shared online. By sharing your private keys with other companies and undergoing KYC, there is a risk of someone confiscating your crypto or that the information gets hacked, stolen, or sold. Hardware wallets with secure elements may or may not protect your private keys.
2308  Economy / Services / Re: [OFNT] [AOBT] The Alliance Of Bitcointalk Translators on: May 22, 2023, 01:43:12 PM
maybe Trofo or Pmalek (sorry for not mentioning other very active users from the croatian local board - there are just too many of them Wink) could find us a translator from their section who could then join our alliance.
If I had some more time on my hands throughout the day, I would apply and do some translations myself, so as not to lose touch. Unfortunately, I can't help you on that front. I wouldn't mind making a post in our Croatian local board on your behalf if you want asking if there is someone interested in joining the Alliance Of Bitcointalk Translators. Perhaps they don't know about your initiative and don't frequent the Services board, but would like to take part. Let me know.
2309  Economy / Gambling / Re: Pmalek’s Collection of The Best Gambling Threads and Discussions on: May 22, 2023, 01:35:37 PM
I suggest this thread where I give some valuable info unavailable anywhere else online
There is nothing special about your thread. Nothing of what you have posted there is backed by any evidence and is not worth commenting on. I will not add your thread.

@op you did a noble job and judging your picks, it shows that you have a good taste for good contents and I also wanted to know how often its the thread updated  and if there is any special criteria  you use for your assessment?
If I come across something I consider valuable, I add it to the collection. Of course, anyone can chip in and suggest what threads they feel should be included. Regarding the criteria, you can take a look at the first post where I made a list of some rules and points I take into consideration.
2310  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Are there any smartphones out there that are hard wallets too? on: May 21, 2023, 04:34:32 PM

Everyone is withdrawing from Ledger hardware, for the security of their assets. If you have predicted it, then it has become real.
Just wait for its destruction or cancel the update.
Not sure if it's going to be enough if they come out and say we changed our mind and we have abandoned the idea of Ledger Recover. They have dealt a much bigger blow to the whole industry by revealing that private key sharing is and has always been possible. They made their plans public this time, what if they or someone else doesn't in the future? What if they can retrieve your seed even if you don't give your consent, or they make some changes where they don't even need to ask you?
2311  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano X Circus (Battery, Recover and more) on: May 21, 2023, 04:07:54 PM
I see; so there's no alternative client for initial setup / updates / app installs and so forth, like on Trezor with trezorctl command-line client?
Not that I know of, no. Trezors are shipped with no firmware installed, so the original buyer installs either a bitcoin-only or an all-crypto firmware. Ledger ships its products with already installed firmware. Usually, the latest version. So you might not need to do anything on that end. But you need Ledger Live to install the apps you want to use, and those can only be found in the Ledger Account Manager.

It may be possible to clone https://github.com/LedgerHQ/ledger-live and patch out all the connections to Ledger servers, or even just do it through your firewall. Someone may even have done it before, not sure about that. It should be evident that I'm not too knowledgeable or experienced with Ledger products myself. Wink
You could get blockchain data from your own node and configure Ledger Live to connect to it. But again, you are going to need apps, app updates, and the firmware from their servers.
2312  Other / Meta / Re: Forum Menbership- 3.5m registered only 56k members survived?..... Why? on: May 21, 2023, 03:56:48 PM
I don't think Bitcointalk or its members are doing something wrong that drives members away. it's just that the newer generations don't want to concentrate and spend time in these types of communities. Their Tik-Tok and Instagram brains are used to visual stimulus and short to the point content that doesn't last long. They aren't going to read through 100 posts of a thread spanning across multiple pages before replying.

unfriendly environment for Newbies/users?
Sometimes it is, but I don't remember seeing anyone being treated unfairly that didn't deserve it or didn't do things to provoke such reactions.

DT members oppression ? ( so much red than green these days)
I doubt it. Honest users don't get painted in red.

The merit system (high demands for quality) ?
You don't need a high-ranked account to read, learn, and post about bitcoin. It's only important if you want to rank up to join quality signature campaigns. So if that's their goal and their only goal, then yeah, they need to show some quality.

The moderation/rules ( using the ban button more often) ?
I think that admins aren't banning users as quickly as they did in the past. Even plagiarism cases are sometimes forgiven. And I don't know any other community where you can scam, lie and steal, and still have a home there.

Low Bitcoin adoption ?
Better yet, Bitcointalk might be hard to find for users who never heard of the forum. It's again connected to the newer generations not being interested in this way of discussing and talking. So when they search for places to learn and talk about crypto, a forum might not be something that's on their mind.
2313  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Coinomi wallet hacked, all funds stolen on: May 21, 2023, 08:36:45 AM
- Save your private keys and seed phrase online, in your email or in cloud.
There are no problems with that as long as you pay a monthly fee for that pleasure. Just ask Ledger and Safepal. It's very safe sending and storing your seed in clouds and on the servers of 3rd-party companies. You also enjoy the added benefit of possibly getting your crypto possessed, stolen, or the data leaked. I hope everyone recognizes the sarcasm.

I think this gem is fitting:

2314  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: I want to migrate from Trust Wallet to another wallet. on: May 21, 2023, 08:23:03 AM
You need to unstake your Tron to get the staked balance + staking rewards back into your original wallet. It might take a few days for that to happen. After that, your full account balance should become visible elsewhere.
Why not try TronLink if you want to stake Tron? It works for Android and iOS devices.

Separate your bitcoin holdings from your alt and shitcoins. In case your altcoin wallet/s get hacked, your BTC has a greater chance of not getting affected.

Atomic wallet is your best choice if you want same feature and experience since it supports almost all coins with open source that is much better to trust wallet.
Atomic Wallet is not open-source, it's closed-source. It might support open-source cryptocurrencies, but the software code isn't public. I would never use it for my bitcoin or coins I deem important to me. Since OP mentioned Tron and Tron tokens, it could be an option to store those, yes.

And if you staked some Tron coins on the trust wallet just leave it there or better use the ledger hardware wallet they do support staking on ledger live.
Not anymore. Tron is now using a Stake 2.0 system, while Ledger only supports the old Stake 1.0 architecture. The TRX you staked via Ledger will keep collecting staking rewards, but you can't currently do anything with them through Ledger Live. You have to go through TronLink and connect that to your Ledger HW.

Unstoppable wallet maybe?
Unstoppable Wallet offers no support for Tron and Tron-based tokens, so OP can't use it. Not for that asset at least.

Coinomi wallet is closed source, i will recommend only open source wallets to people because their codes can be verified, there are recommended options like Electrum that is open source, so why should one use a closed source wallet that we cannot verify what goes on behind the scenes or how the keys are generated.
OP owns altcoins like Tron. Electrum can't help him for that purpose.
2315  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Restoring New Nano Ledger With Seed Phrase Security Question on: May 21, 2023, 07:39:16 AM
<Snip>
The way you recover will also depend on what exactly went wrong. If your computer dies, there is no need to recover your wallets from seed because all the data is still in tact on your hardware wallet. That also includes your crypto apps. All you have to do is install Ledger Live on a new computer, add the correct accounts, and have Ledger Live scan the derivation paths to display all accounts with balances. You will lose the names you gave those accounts, unless you still have access to the old installation path to copy the necessary data.
2316  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano X Circus (Battery, Recover and more) on: May 21, 2023, 07:30:21 AM
Despite all recent issue with Ledger, I'm not convinced this is how it works. I don't think they know the public addresses associated with the delivery or purchase, as otherwise this would imply they know the seed phrase of the device that was sent in the first place - in order to have access to those public keys. I mean, I'd like to assume they don't have a database of all the seed phrases at least!
I wasn't talking about seed phrases. I don't think they have those either. Knowing Ledger, they would have lost or leaked them by now. But with the knowledge that keys can leave the secure element, who knows what else is possible. Today, it's supposedly 3 encrypted shards sent to 3 separate companies. What if it becomes just one company or remote sharing of seeds in unencrypted form next year?

It's not a secret that servers can log and store information about your wallets when you interact with them. I am going back to my Electrum example. Connect your wallet to a server and it will know your IP address, OS, balance of all funded addresses, and complete list of all other addresses that are part of that wallet. Connecting to Ledger's servers can work exactly the same.

Only a genuine Ledger HW can connect to Ledger Live. For all we know, each device they have ever sold could have an identifier pairing it to the name of the person who purchased it. When you connect your HW to Ledger Live, the software checks if the device is genuine and it could very well check that identifier and compare it with its database. That would provide them with enough data about your balances and activities. Couple that with Ledger Recover and any information they share with government agencies, and there is now a method for freezing your assets if you are suspected of money laundering, not paying your taxes, etc.
2317  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Restoring New Nano Ledger With Seed Phrase Security Question on: May 20, 2023, 06:09:04 PM
Worth pointing out that with Nano S you don't even need Ledger Live, or an online computer to recover your wallet, it is done on device only
If your Ledger hardware wallet resets to factory settings, you will need Ledger Live for the firmware and crypto app updates. I don't remember if you can begin the recovery process without clicking on the designated options in Ledger Live. I only had to do it once during all my years of using the Nano S after my device got wiped following a firmware upgrade.
2318  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Safepal S1 wallet have serious flaws! on: May 20, 2023, 04:59:06 PM
Wow, just wow.
Based on your thread about secure elements in hardware wallets, Safepal also has one but you couldn't find the exact model. Have you managed to find any more information on it in the meantime? Maybe they are also using one of the ST3x models.

This is exactly what I was saying in the Ledger Recover thread. Some (maybe all) secure element chips have been proven to be vulnerable to remote seed sharing. Now it's just a question of who will do it next and in what way and shape. This can't possibly be only their own doing. I guess they have started cooperating with the higher powers to be in a better position when stricter regulations are rolled out.
2319  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano X Circus (Battery, Recover and more) on: May 20, 2023, 04:48:16 PM
How do they already know the addresses that a person used? I mean, I guess there's still the risk that seeds aren't generated truly randomly (since - again - closed source firmware). But besides that, I'm not sure how you come to this conclusion.
Think of it this way: If you use Ledger Live, and you have to at least once to install the firmware and the needed crypto apps, they can get information about your public keys, addresses, and the balances you connect to their servers. Something similar that Electrum does when you connect your wallet to an Electrum server.

Even if you purchased your HW anonymously and had it delivered to a PO box or company where you work, they would still be able to connect your name to the wallets that were connected to their servers in the past if you decide to send the HW back. I doubt you can ship a package anonymously, unless you get someone else to do it for you.
2320  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: GameBoy Hardware Wallet! on: May 20, 2023, 04:25:56 PM
I still have a Gameboy Pocket lying around in my drawers somewhere. What a cool reason to search for it and see if it's still working. Last time I checked, it was, but there were some connectivity issues with the device and cable. Nevertheless, it can always take batteries if the cable fails. The cartridges between the original Gameboy and the Gameboy Pocket should be the same.

Someone who knows what they are talking about should comment if such a device can generate enough randomness? This could be a successful project if it's completely trustless and they figure out how to sign transactions. Question is, how to export the PSBT from the Gameboy's memory or cartridge to a different medium?
