2301  Other / Meta / Re: Wall of fame / shame. Shit posts so bad that they are actually funny on: August 25, 2021, 04:13:05 PM

BuNga_cute is still active on the forum five years later and still making crap-ass posts like the ones above.  That is some serious dedication to shitposting, and if we gave out trophies with bronze turds, I think he/she ought to get one right up the wazoo.

Damn, and she's in the same signature campaign as I am. How did Hham manage to pick her of all applicants...

New Dashboard page for v2.

Sadly this forum doesn't support GIFs, but you could watch it here Wink
2303  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for a loan ASAP on: August 22, 2021, 10:21:05 AM

(and no, I'm not offering to give you a loan - I don't even know what "CBD" oil is...)

It's hashish oil, or marijuana oil. Mainly used in smoking, ointment, cooking, etc...
2304  Other / Meta / Re: Scam campaigns should not be allowed to stay on: August 22, 2021, 09:43:55 AM
Not really. Newly created accounts can't use their signature space to advertise anything. Spammers and scammers are often shitposters as well, so they won't have the required post quality to rank up an account to a decent level.

For those loaded, they can afford to purchase accounts at a premium. Like the 1xBit sig campaign which pays handsomely for participants to bring in more victims.

I don't agree that's not possible to moderate scam. But here such thing would be difficult. If mods would start to moderate every potential scam and make investigations about, they wouldn't have time left for their main job - moderating forum.

Perhaps to let the public educate the public? Rather than hiding the scams, the feedback and negative reactions might dissuade any newbie/ potential victim to decide against joining/ parting with the cash/ credentials.

Obvious red flags are better deterrents that suppressing something. Nevertheless if the user decides to join, then it's too bad.
2305  Other / Meta / Re: [Proposal] Tackling the spam on: August 21, 2021, 05:19:47 PM

Well, if that's the case then shouldn't it automatically be locked or the mods should've locked it already if the issues addressed already since most incoming replies would just be a tangle of the OP and I feel like we need more of this engagement thing with users creating this threads.

The OPs has to either lock them, which is a miracle if they happen or we could simply report them to the mods and they'll get locked soon enough.

If it encourages discussions between users, that's fine in my books. In the gambling section, most of the posts are in response to other quotes.
2306  Other / Meta / Re: What do you think of the Bitcoin Discussion section? Does he need to change? on: August 21, 2021, 04:47:58 PM
And what would the section be left with if all of those posts were deleted?  Most of the good stuff!  That's why all of those shitposts should be reported when you see them--and I'm not saying you need to go out of your way to look for them, but if you're reading threads in sections like Bitcoin Discussion you're inevitably going to come across them.  It only takes a few seconds to report a garbage post to the mods and then your part is done.

I just made a post in Meta about the quality of posts in Economics deteriorating lately and asked whether this might be due to an increase in signature campaigns and/or bounties.  I don't follow the Services section (or the bounty one), so I don't have a good sense of how many are currently active.  But it sure as hell seems like those old "bitcoin has a bright future and is increasing day by day" posts are making a comeback.

Agreed. Much easier to digest what's going on without seeing the same thing posted over and over again.

But then, if this happens while I'm an advertiser, I'd be pretty sad because I need them to spread my brand Wink

If you're referring to the number of signature campaigns, you could check out the Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns by Mitchell. I won't bother with bounties because they're aplenty and I doubt anyone has the time to make a compilation AFAIK.

But it sure as hell seems like those old "bitcoin has a bright future and is increasing day by day" posts are making a comeback.

Tell me about it. Grin

Happened to stumble across one thread earlier today about "deciphering" the Bit from Bitcoin and one senior member expressed his exasperation because of this.
2307  Other / Meta / Re: [Proposal] Tackling the spam on: August 21, 2021, 04:39:56 PM

I don't have any qualms with quota, it makes you work hard for what you have. I feel like those people that burst post because of having other jobs is an excuse, I mean it's not like posting in the forum is time consuming, pretty sure that people will find a way to complete their quota. Also, isn't that the point of posting in the threads? To answer the OP if it's your first post in that thread?

Sometimes when the job tends to be too time-consuming, you tend to overlook/ take things for granted. It happened to me before so I could relate to that.

About the OP thing, most of the time the first few replies would already address the concern/ issue. It's just that those posters downright tend to ignore anything else because they don't want/ plan to engage with other users:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5337846.0

I see we’re still congratulating a banned account on this thread (OPs) …

If anybody is interested in seeing the first merited post of any (non-airdropped) merited account, I’ve updated a file which I published some months ago on another thread. Data is now as of 13/08/2021:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_I7WfxSnzOe7wvjE9dJ-aqH59PnfsMnKSVzycYljrx0/edit?usp=sharing

Anecdotally, there are 113 accounts that were awarded 50 Merits on their first received merit TX. Going some of them is not for the faint of heart …

2308  Other / Meta / Re: [Proposal] Tackling the spam on: August 21, 2021, 04:23:48 PM
For the wearers of signatures, how will it be considered a spam, I always try to chase the maximum posts per week and I don't burst post. Will I be affected by this because I feel like it attacks those campaigns that pays per post?

Because of the quota, they try to reach them by posting whatever that comes to their mind, often ignoring other posters and solely focusing on the OP's content.

Then there are those that might not have time to post consistently over the week which could be due to an IRL job, and when they realize they're falling short of the minimum threshold, they burst post.

Non joiners or even joiners themselves might find it hard to shake off the impression that sig campaign bearers tend to shitpost, but what to do, to each his own. Still, there are some legit posters out of the many.

Hosted on a free domain service, this definitely sounds like an easy rugpull.

2311  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Share your costly lesson about cryptocurrency.. on: August 21, 2021, 03:28:28 PM
Three mistakes of my crypto life

1. Joining Pump and Dump
This was back in 2016-2017 when I was just beginning to learn to trade. I got hyped up and joined these pump and dump groups.
Obviously I lost a lot of money in it because we can't make money in pump and dumps. As soon as we get in the coin gets dumped.

2. Bitconnnnnnnect
Yeah I know. I shouldn't have invested in it. Greed makes you blind.
Investing in such ponzi schemes would lead to a loss and that is what I learnt from investing in it.
But fortunately the amount I invested wasn't much but good enough to learn such a lesson.

3. Trading on emotions
This is very recent. I traded a coin and lost half of my portfolio in it because I was trading in FOMO.
I think I am not that good of a trader and should probably just HODL.

You're the first guy I see here to invest in Bitconnect. How much did you lose?

Here is a picture what i download from online though i can't remember from where i download it because it was in my Gallery. Sorry for whom who made this picture but i can't credit you sorry for this.
You can find their logo at the bottom of the image [investing authority].
- They have a page on Instagram:

I know that you can stake multiple POS coins with a Ledger hardware wallet and Ledger live, but I never analyzed how exactly it works and if you are really giving up control of your coins or if they stay in an address controlled by you.
Based on a couple of videos that I just watched [two different apps on the Ledger live], you'll be sending it to them [unfortunately, it's not the latter one].

Personally, I'd prefer to go with the safest route [saving], as opposed to putting everything in jeopardy [no matter how high the rewards might be].

Plus, for anyone planning to locate the source of the infograph, here it is Smiley

2313  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: FindBTC TOOL help on: August 21, 2021, 03:05:33 PM
Are you talking about this tool from github?

If this is the tool you talking about then the guide is already on that page just scroll down and read.

Take note this is not a well-known tool I never heard of it and I couldn't find it here on the forum it seems no one mentions it here.
Can you tell us what do you plan why you want to install that tool and maybe we have some other way to fix your issue?

Based on the GH description, it's to scan the device for any remnants of Bitcoin wallet(s):

Quote
The tool can find wallets even if;

The wallet was deleted, but not overwritten
The file system is corrupted and inaccessible
The device has been reformatted
The wallet has been partially overwritten
The wallet is inside a .zip or .tar.gz file, including nested in multiple levels of compressed files

Would be fun to do so on purchased laptops/ hard drives.
2314  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Which was your worst crypto trading decision? on: August 21, 2021, 01:06:59 PM
My biggest mistake that i did not hold some best coin like Dego and Cake for long time. I sold all my long term in beae market. I bought  Dego when itvwas near 1$ but sold at 2$ Price.
I bought Cake token when it was 2.5$ but sold when it was 6$.
If i hold i will have great portfolio now.

You didn't stake them CAKE? Their APR is pretty stable...
2315  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Send bitcoin Coinbase on: August 21, 2021, 01:03:15 PM

Why wouldn't you put the exact amount would be my question?  The invoice from Coinbase should clearly state a BTC amount that lasts for a certain period of time.  This is because when sending BTC, you are sending a fiat amount that it set at for a certain time and exchange rate.  1 BTC does not equal 1 BTC over time, so this is why you are given a time limit to send the BTC.  If you do not send it in time, you will need to request another invoice.  There is no paying in euros when sending BTC, you are sending a set amount of BTC determined by the exchange rate at the time to be worth a certain number of Euros.

He could referring to the transaction fees involved, if any in addition to the base amount. Not sure though as I never used CB before.

OP, you looking for this?

Quote
1) Navigate to your Portfolio page on the main navigation bar
2) Select the Send button for the cryptocurrency wallet that you'd like to send from
3) On the send dialog, select wallet address if you're sending to a cryptocurrency wallet external to Coinbase or Email Address if you're sending via email
4) Enter the amount of cryptocurrency you'd like to send in the Amount field. Alternatively, you can specify the amount you would like to send in your local currency. Note that the funds will always be sent as cryptocurrency, not your local currency
5) Select Continue
6) Confirm the details of the transaction and complete the send

The thing is, who would know when he dies? If one is unable to locate him, who's gonna be the first to break the news?

Guess that we've to add like another 80 years and assume he'd be dead by then.
2317  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Share your costly lesson about cryptocurrency.. on: August 21, 2021, 12:15:49 PM
Having coins on exchanges that could change their rules overnight without prior warnings!

Back in 2017 I was trading on Bittrex so I had some balance there which I believe could come to half a bitcoin. My account was not verified and they have explicitly assured me that there is not going to be any issue in the future with lack of verification or with my location.
One day I woke up and saw my account is downgraded to basic, the withdrawal is limited to a tiny amount and IP address is blocked. Essentially they stole my money (and thousands of other users) overnight.

I thought it was a scam but Bittrex is still running. If you were to verify your account currently via an appeal, would that change anything?
2318  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why did you miss Bitcoin? on: August 21, 2021, 12:13:14 PM
If I have my current knowledge of bitcoin and I was to go back 10 years, I would definitely go and buy as much as I can because I know that I am going to make a lot of money out of it. I think the reason that some people didn't know about bitcoin is that they didn't know about it in the early days or they were scared of investing in something new.

Yeah, back then I didn't know what was Bitcoin all about and didn't see the potential of it. All I saw were articles of mining Bitcoin on your desktop/ laptop and I was like hey, why not try mining?

Tried out on my laptop and bought some but eventually sold it and forgot until 2017.

2320  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: South African Man Loses $900,000 Worth Of BTC After Accidentally Deleting Keys on: August 21, 2021, 11:27:57 AM
It is better to store BTC in an online wallet, such as COINBASE .

No, they can do whatever they want with your funds.

Remember, not your keys, not your Bitcoin.
