2301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New York wants to regulate Bitcoin on: January 31, 2014, 08:57:11 PM
NYS wants to tax it and like everything overregulate it.
It's the main reason why we are losing business's are leaving and people are leaving this state in droves.
I have lived in NYS and various parts of it my entire life.  The greed and politics of the NY City groups is just sickening.

2303  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: January 31, 2014, 08:22:32 PM
Photobucket works well and has a handy Android app and I think an Ios one as well depending on which phone you have.
I use the Android one for posting my pics here all the time.

How can I send a picture from my phone here so I can show off my rigs?
2304  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [IN-STOCK, SHIPPING, OPEN] Professional quality USB hubs for USB bitcoin miners on: January 31, 2014, 06:48:36 PM
Hey Everyone.
I just got my hub today and I have to say it's great! Grin
Just to test it quick I put in 3x 333Block Erupters, 1x RedFury and 1x BiFury.

All 5 popped right up and right up to full speed no waiting several mins to half and hour for top performance that was a pleasant surprise.
They all co-exist with no weirdness.
I am running MultiMiner and it had no issues detecting and using anything in the hub.
I am going to try a 5gh/s Jalapeno on it later this weekend as well as some more USB's.

Razorfishsl shipped this very fast, it actually showed up yesterday but snow kept my mail-lady from coming on the porch so I had to wait until today.
The packing was safe and secure and the unit arrived in perfect condition.
He also kept track of the shipping on his end and is very easy to work with.

Thanks so much I will be buying another in a few weeks as this unit ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!
2305  Economy / Goods / Re: Like Beef Jerky? (FREE Jerky) on: January 31, 2014, 04:20:36 PM
This thread has spurred me to start making some venison jerky too this weekend.
I have about 60lbs of it from hunting season this year but I was not feeling well enough to make some jerky.

2306  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Introduction to DualMiner USB (could mine both BTC and LTC) on: January 31, 2014, 05:04:01 AM
I found it right after I posted.  You have a couple bids now it looks like.

I have one up there. I didn't see any others.

Whats the link to your auction?

So far the eBay experiment is 7 hours in, 34 views and 4 watchers. I'm going to guess the watchers are from this thread to see what it does go for.
2308  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Which USB hub to use with Block Erupters | NanoFury NF1 | BPMC Red Fury | Ant U1 on: January 31, 2014, 12:24:03 AM
I have used an Arctic Breeze for over 4 months in my 3rd Anker 7port.  I will keep this in mind when I setup the new hub tomorrow.
I do have a short USB extension cable I could use and mount it to the side somehow until I can find a standalone USB fan.
Thanks for the advice.

Do you have a good USB fan you recommend that could be used instead??

***Important tip***
DO NOT use Swan necked fans  directly into USB ports.
The Swan Neck will Destroy the  sockets, this applies to any USB socket

Razorfishsl

Basically any fan that does not use the Socket for support, or 'Jerry rig' the arctics with an extension cable.

I'm seeing a 'change in the USB power contact resistance' over time with the swan neck fans.(all sockets I have tested)

*in English* The vibration from the fan travels down the swan neck and causes the contact between the fan and the USB socket to arc slightly, thereby increasing the resistance and causing 'self heating' of the socket, which in turn causes the contacts to break loose of the integral plastic assembly in the sockets.

2310  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why I Quit My Day Job (Let's Talk Bitcoin!) on: January 30, 2014, 09:45:27 PM
Excellent story thanks for sharing.
I will say this though.
As a person who has had an accident 1 1/2 yrs ago and ended up disabled I would love to go back to work.  As much as jobs can be dull or stressful I miss terribly being able to buy things I need or want.  I miss being around co-workers and being part of a team.
Now I spend my days trying not to give in to chronic pain and the frustration of not being able to provide for my family or go far a hike or pick up my daughter.
I have been selling things that I worked hard for and cherished just to be able to help my wife pay bills and buy food and diapers for my 1 year old daughter.
Occasionally I get lucky like I did this past week and get a little money I can spend on things like late christmas gifts for my wife and recently I got lucky and was able to buy some bitcoin mining equipment to add to my small setup.
That sense of being in charge of my life and it's direction is something I dearly miss.
I wish you the best of luck and don't lose sight of your goals as you never know when your ability to get there will be taken away.

Are you running them from a hub or directly in USB ports on the PC?

Well I got them and here is a screenshot

Can you tell me, why you are buying this miner for 100$ ? It makes no sense to me , 70Kh/s raward is ~1$/day. Break even 100 days ?!?   Seems like the scrypt asic race has startet, 100 days form now reward will be 10Cent ...

Its same like with the bitcoinminers, for example bitfury costs 200$ . Reward is 29$ a month , so break even is 6 months ? Maybe someone can explain it to me , because it makes no sense ...

Cause we are hobbiest, we like cool and new things; say it with me "I'm a Geek and I'm Proud".

Why does anything have to make sense? I mean effectively didn't we all pay money for wow gold, it all has no real value except to us as a community.

The guy at the garage doesn't care that we have 5 7950's on riser cables.
2314  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MultiMiner Remoting & MobileMiner: Your rigs. Your coins. Your pools. Your way. on: January 30, 2014, 04:14:20 AM
I will check that out now as well.
I only run about 112kh/s or so though.  Just a R7 250 until I can afford a couple better cards for my system.  Will I still get as much out of it as I do pool mining?

I use LTCRabbit.
It mines Doge ok though and BTC.
Apparently some people are having issues but it is sporadic.
I will mine doge for a bit while they get it taken care of.

"Noe of the pools configured for LiteCoin could be used.  Verify your pool settings and try again."

Nothing magical going on here...the pools are down.

Edit: if you feel an issue was introduced in 2.5.5 you can download previous releases at http://releases.multiminerapp.com, however the only things found in 2.5.5 are minor bug fixes.

Very true!  I have two backups for my BTC but I never really did much with scrypt.  I have two pools thought I will get that setup now.

Add multiple pools for each coin you mine. That way when they are down they will automatically switch to pools that are up. You should try to have at least 2 different pools for each coin. Then you don't have to switch to a different coin.

I just updated MuM and now it will not accept my LiteCoin pool even though all I did was update and let it restart.
Exact error:
"Noe of the pools configured for LiteCoin could be used.  Verify your pool settings and try again."
