2301  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Once the Exchange opens...What are you going to do? on: June 21, 2011, 07:26:38 PM
If the coin stays at $18.00 dollars im happy with that. Im worried with this difficulty level though. We need to drive the price of the coin up  to balance the difficulty.

Thus the beauty of the market itself, that should work itself out with people gaining and losing the whole way.
2302  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: WeUseCoins: 2nd Video - Content on: June 21, 2011, 07:17:50 PM
Wallet stuff scares me.  Definitely halt production if you have something already being worked on in that department.

BTW, love the original video and have linked many people to it many times Smiley
2303  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: paying merchants with bitcoins thru phone? on: June 21, 2011, 07:16:37 PM
anyway, just random thoughts.  bitcoins could be as or more valueable then gold..  i mean you can always dig up more gold, but you can NEVER print more bitcoins.....

Jim

Never say never.  Systems are built and can be broken down, it's only a matter of time.

Hopefully though we get a (one man's) lifetime out of this system.
2304  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [Beta] withBitcoin.com ! NEW FREE service to use BTCS ! on: June 21, 2011, 07:05:32 PM
You are going to have to tone your exclamation usage down a few levels if you want to have any long term business.  Which I guess not ever merchant in Bitcoin is going after.
2305  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: TradeHill - Who we are on: June 21, 2011, 06:54:15 PM
I noticed the site doesn't have an icon (at least, none loaded for me), so I made one:

Well done, I know it's stupid / small / simple.  But given the limited amount of choices for a favicon, this turned out clean looking.
2306  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Question for those that support the rollback/MtGox on: June 21, 2011, 06:45:39 PM
MtGox comes along and allows the site to be compromised. Why is the prevailing attitude towards MtGox not the same as the attitude that an individual user gets? MtGox SHOULD be held to a higher standard since they were entrusted with people's valuables. Instead, because people "like" them, instead of being told they should have had better security, boo hoo, learn your lesson, sucks to be you, etc. the majority of people here think they were victimized.

This isnt a troll, this is an honest question.

Honest answer to an honest question.  Using your own words, Mt Gox SHOULD be held to a higher standard.  And is.  If he was treated like an individual user right now, we'd all be like "well fuck, for the greater good that individual user who just got hacked is fucked because for the greater good we will all be okay".  This is not the case with Gox, in fact, it is the opposite, the greater good in this case, favors him no matter if he is in the right wrong or what.
2307  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: buy buy buy! How can you lose on a bitcoin investment right now?! on: June 21, 2011, 06:28:39 PM
I get paid every Friday.  I hope peoples confusion and misunderstanding of this story continues on.

How much money do you have to invest in this little project?

"It's in Revelations people!"

Reusing post replies like what.
2310  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Porn anyone? on: June 21, 2011, 06:17:49 PM
I'll see about adding some video to my site (see sig) tonight by the way.  Have a lot of homemade stuff in the pool of porn.

I really do look forward to any working cart systems for adult oriented sites.

2312  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Awaiting the great MtGox Cash Out on: June 21, 2011, 05:53:19 PM
I have created a file going through the latest 4000 posts on the Bitcoin.org forums, taking that number down to 1984 after eliminating any non Mt. Gox related posts.

These 1984 posts were then gone through two systems set up where, in short, would mark the threads as "Pro-Gox" or "Anti-Gox"

Seeing as how this whole market is based upon speculation and fear, I went ahead and determined exactly what will happen in the following 2 week time (1 week guaranteed only, acts of god etc), and I will release this information to you for the mere donation of .0069 Bitcoin

*Estimate time of delivery of files 6-8 weeks

*Offer void

This can't be a great way to keep an account on this site.
2314  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Age of Enlightenment applied to currencies on: June 21, 2011, 05:45:17 PM
With no central bank and only able to look to each other, we come a network/community looking out for each other by the very nature of "this is the only way this can work, either we are all in, or we aren't"

Proof is Gox situation, where this crazy untraceable anonymous money can be found out if everyone pools their efforts to ensure one person doesn't fuck it up.

God I wish I had money to invest, back in Gox too, I swear he will come through with some of the newest/toughest security.  TradeHill will no doubt have a foot in the history of exchanges, but things will be compared to with Gox.

Or not, who knows.
2315  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Windows or Linux? on: June 21, 2011, 05:30:05 PM
iOS is the lightest system and what I run all my rigs off of.
2316  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What will happen to bitcoin when it gets cold? on: June 21, 2011, 05:27:55 PM
Interesting theory for an overall outlook.  I like it.   My original reply had something to do with my Bitcoins are so cold they could cut through glass, but, I like this theory.
2317  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Embedable Javascript Bitcoin miner for your website on: June 21, 2011, 05:22:58 PM
I, for one, think that web visitors should at least be told what's going on, even if just a little white lie ("We're testing your CPU for blah blah blah...").  If I visited a website and noticed my CPU spike, you can bet I'd close that window and never come back (and possibly report to various malware entities).  Or at the very-very least, the home page should not have that script running, and only if they go further into your site.  A proper homepage needs to load fast, get the information to your visitors, or you're not going to have many visitors.

Just try to think of the ethical side.  Also like mentioned earlier in the thread, maybe for registered/paying customers, the script is disabled (or give them the option to disable it).  Above all else, tell visitors what's going on, or you run the risk of being marked as malware and/or lawsuits.

^Everything should be above the board, people should be down with "Ad Free Internet"  I think this idea gets confused with a "Free Internet"

I hope new coders see this thread and contribute to this type of mining Smiley
2318  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MtGox claim site is up! Everyone who claimed say haaaay ... on: June 21, 2011, 04:52:24 PM

The new password is not secure enough. Security tips include using special characters, make the password longer, etc...

I don't know what more I can do.  If I have to write my password down to remember it, it is no good.   I swear I typed a phrase and it wasn't good enough.
2319  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's up with Mt Gox? on: June 21, 2011, 03:54:14 PM
In the end having no one big exchange is going to make things great for the people who really love the fun of the market.

To the topic, this is a pretty specific situation here, I don't think there is one way to go about this by the books, I like that they are earnestly trying to fix whatever the fuck happened.

For now, everyone enjoy the other exchanges, sign up everywhere, diversify.
2320  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tradehill register ref code share! READ BEFORE REGISTER! on: June 21, 2011, 03:45:41 PM
Rename thread to "Unofficial Bitcoin Forum Newbie Section TradeHill Link Referrals"

If done right, I bet mods would lock/delete any posts from now on with TH spam and point them to this thread.

Also, to all viewers who see TH a lot, remember, this is not the act of TradeHill, they have had this referral offer in place for a while, people have taken abuse of a referral link to new levels here.
