Thought Bob would like this

lets get #severeperineumburns trending
2302  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: September 08, 2022, 08:58:36 AM
I ended up taking the Rams at ML and +3.5... for some reason +2.5 wasn't an option on my betting site, and I hate football numbers (3), so 3.5 ought to cover it pretty good.

Alright well, after reading this (unofficial) official description of what the boards are supposed to be about, I opted to move my thread to Digital Goods.

Goods (child board of Marketplace) - Trades of physical goods on-forum for Bitcoin. If you are selling goods on another site (e.g. have an online store), it doesn't belong here.

Digital goods (child board of Goods) - Trades of digital goods on-forum for Bitcoin (except for invites and accounts). If you are selling goods on another site (e.g. have an online store), it doesn't belong here.

Bitcoin NFTs aren't altcoin tokens. Please don't move my thread back there -- its clearly the wrong section for it.
2304  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Forum NFTs - immortalize your profile on the BTC blockchain on: September 07, 2022, 08:35:16 AM
Dope idea!
I want to dive deeper into this and really digest the thread when there's time this weekend, but sign me up, please!

Done. I've put you on the exclusive whitelist.

Also, for the XCP enthusiasts on the forum (and there are at least a few), I'm open to trades if you'd rather send me something of your own than pay in BTC... am trying to expand my collection. There's about 50 Rare Pepes in my price range I'd like to get someday.

Bitcoin won't spend more than 240 hours above $20k for the rest of 2022.

Just for fun I decided to try to find the exact moment when proudhoun became a cheeky permabear... it appears to be July 2016:

OP is right, I can confirm, all indicators on the technical analysis charts from China and other places indicate clearly down trend to the bottom. Might stabilize near $100 for a short time before heading further down as clearly confirmed and indicated by all available data. This is bad! Confirmed!

He was unironically bearish in Dec 2013 / Jan 2014, but had every right to be, and called that top near perfectly. Then he kind of took a break for a while.

He seems to like to come back after massive run-ups and then pile on after massive downswings.

Was hoping to find evidence that he is a perfect counter-indicator but alas Jim Cramer is much better at that position.
2306  Other / Archival / Re: "If you don't understand where the yield is coming from, you are the yield." on: September 07, 2022, 05:04:25 AM
I love FatManTerra... Started following him on Twitter during the whole UST debacle. He provides some very elegant explanations of complex subjects that are also entertaining AF.

Looks like this topic recently got moved from Bitcoin Discussion. Perhaps its because LUNA is an altcoin, but a lot of "CeFi" lending programs (many of them posing as DeFi) also accept BTC deposits and promise fixed returns. Some of them are now bankrupt, and all of them had problems of some sort:

- Celsius
- Voyager
- Nexo
- Hodlnaut
- Vauld
- SALT
- Poolin

Steering clear of such platforms is not just a matter of education; its also a matter of reeling in one's greed.

Sadly the Bitcoin (and other crypto) taken from customers in such instances is being funneled into the hands of the very wealthy, rendering the system not much different from fiat... kind of destroys its purpose, but you can't stop folks from following their instincts. The result is damage to the reputation of cryptocurrency.
2307  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 06, 2022, 02:41:42 PM
The world is rapidly divided into two parts.

I don't see the advantage of adopting such dull simplifications of reality other than as a way to shield oneself from its innate complexities.

Oh yeah it’s a great opening game. I’m currently trying to decide how to bet it. I would have to disagree that the Bills are better than the Rams, I mean the Rams did just win a Super Bowl. That said I could see an argument for either team. As you mentioned the Rams have home field advantage which is pretty big so I think I’m leaning their way at getting the +2.5.

I agree here.

- Super Bowl champs
- playing at home
- in the season opener

I put a small bet on Rams ML and will likely place a bigger bet at Rams +2.5.

Of course anything can happen, and often does... That's one of the beautiful things about the NFL, even though it makes betting on this sport particularly difficult.

Only in Florida is Ethereum more attractive than Bitcoin, with percentages of 7.4 and 6.9

That's Florida Man for ya.

Meanwhile Google Trends tells a different story.

Must be something about CoinGecko that attracts Floridian ETH users.
2311  Economy / Reputation / Re: Does He evade Ban? Is It Sufficient Proof? on: September 05, 2022, 09:47:47 AM
This is really confusing. So you claim it's not your coins.ph account but you sell your BTC to someone for fiat every week? Do you have any evidence to back this up? Is it someone you got in touch with through the forum or in some other way? Do you know him personally?

Its not confusing at all. You have no authority here, and they owe you no answer.

If you feel this person committed a sin of some kind, either report them to the mods or leave the appropriate feedback and move on.
2312  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about Dogechain (DC)? on: September 05, 2022, 08:20:16 AM
Existing DOGE holders can use the "bridge" to convert DOGE into DC and gain access to "De-Fi".

You got most of it right except the DOGE is bridged to a wrapped DOGE. It was called "wDOGE" but now they just call it "DOGE," which is pretty misleading, but then again so are most aspects of this project.

DC is the "utility token" of the network, separate from wDOGE. As with all other tokens on its platform it is only good for pump n dumps.

After rejection by doge coin CEO and that makes doge coin has no affiliation with doge coin anymore.

Heh, that was Billy Markus, co-creator of Dogecoin, that rejected the offer. There is no Dogecoin CEO. And it never actually had an affiliation with Dogecoin... it just tries to convince people that it does.

In short, I recommend staying away from it. If the economy doesn't tank during the rest of the year, now might be the perfect time to pick up the real $DOGE. Can't say the same for $DC -- it is unproven and my belief is its only a matter of time before their bridge is compromised.

Phil, wow, I don't know what to say, other than I hope those who read your post can actually learn something from your words, and realize the wisdom you are trying to imbue comes from a place of experience and selflessness.

There's no way I can follow that  Cheesy

But you would probably like to know that this kind of spirit has been around in the forum for a long time, though it has come and gone through the years.

Nili Lerner, a German artist who used Counterparty to launch a series of "art coins" in 2014 (before NFTs was a term), was heavily ridiculed back in the day, and is now being hailed as a visionary, as what they were doing proved to be years ahead of their time.

This was their response to one of their early critics. I found it fitting in the context of your words.

This is idiocy.  The lawyers for Disney and Coke are no joke.  You have NO CHANCE of making this a success.

https://www.vinniejinn.com/post/nili-lerner-nft-artists-are-shaping-a-new-reality-of-the-financial-world

This stuff isn't going away.

Quite the opposite: it will form the bedrock of digital identity in the upcoming era of blockchain-driven technology.
2315  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 04, 2022, 06:10:25 AM
So why is there something rather than nothing?

One of my favorite questions for which there is no good answer.
2316  Other / Meta / Re: NFT subforum? on: September 04, 2022, 05:38:45 AM
Smallpox was once a huge part of the culture, globally, until it was eradicated and now is only talked about as a part of history.

To a much smaller extent, there were Beanie Babies, tulips, and any number of things that had their moment of fame but didn't last as things of value.  NFTs perplex me and challenge my assumptions about the rationality of people in cryptocurrency these days, and my only hope is that all of these bottom-feeding morons on Youtube who extol the wisdom of buying them suffer enormous economic loss.  Yes, I'm hoping some people suffer financially.  Sue me for having a hardened heart.

Now replace the word "NFT" with "Bitcoin" and congrats, you sound like every fervent no-coiner, ever. You sound exactly like Jorge Stolfi, Amy Castor or Charlie Munger, as your take on NFTs is zero percent different than theirs is on Bitcoin.

Please excuse me for my own, but I won't guarantee that there won't be a torrent of more negativity towards idiocy coming from me if threads like this keep popping up.

I know you somehow believe that ignorance is virtuous -- its not. All you're actually doing is sticking your fingers in your ears, closing your eyes, and saying "no no no no no I can't hear you." You're hoping if enough people here do the same you will feel vindicated in your quest to not have to understand what makes NFTs valuable.
2317  Economy / Reputation / Re: Does He evade Ban? Is It Sufficient Proof? on: September 04, 2022, 05:14:57 AM

I sent him a PM regarding this on 31st August and I didn't get an answer yet. So, Let's discuss it publicly.
I don't really know why some users ignore PMs relating to accusation, but later on when things are getting serious you see them show up with some excuses/reasons/defense.

A simple PM reply stating that the address they send btc to is an exchange or a corporative address (if something of that exist), would have solved this problem.  Now, you have made it public, I believe he will have to reply. Maybe he is waiting to see the forum reactions first before he will clear the air.

I disagree. Nobody owes you an explanation in such matters. If you can't make your case using only post history + blockchain, then you don't have a case.

Privacy-invasive behavior should be discouraged.

This type of inquisition is the lowliest approach to merit farming.

Week I has finished.

All Shitcoins have been sent.

This week's bonuses include:

One DOGEDIME (a 2014 Dogermint token) to:

- JoyMarsha
- john1010
- philipma1957

One DOGENICKEL (a 2014 Dogermint token) to:

- Uang_kartal
- yohananaomi
- fiulpro

One EIGHTHBDAY (in celebration of Dogeparty's 8th birthday last month) to:

- Silence Scream
- bhooscream
- asyakashi

For the 2 accounts that wrote 1 post, I sent you a HAPPYBDAY.8 token, which was also created in celebration of Dogeparty's 8th b-day, which happened on Aug 13th. Seeing as how I said I'd send everybody a bonus NFT.

Thanks everybody for your work! Altogether we drove ~75 hits to the website in the last week, which isn't too bad. Let's see if we can break that next week.

I'm super appreciative of those who

- make more than 10 posts per week
- post in a wide array of sections and subsections
- mention NFTs or Dogecoin in their posts

These criteria aren't mandatory but they help.

Until next week, thanks, and keep up the good work.

@OgNasty
@hilariousandco

Yo why you guys do me dirty.

My thread has nothing to do with Altcoin Tokens. Please think about it.

This event makes it obvious why we need an NFT board. It could attract a new breed of users and breathe fresh life into an otherwise musty museum.

In the meantime, any good reason why I shouldn't move this thread to Collectibles? After all, this is what I'm trying to create: a unique, forum-specific collectable that is made using Bitcoin, purchasable with Bitcoin.

Speak now or forever hold your piece...

I am strictly following the cheat sheet that I have created through advanced data analysis and that I have generated through my computing cluster of 1000 Nintendo gameboys.

LOL that's fantastic to imagine visually. Countless hours of setup to harness 8 MB of RAM, not to mention the price tag.
