2321  Other / Off-topic / Re: How would you guys react if you guys lost 10, 000 bitcoin? on: July 17, 2016, 05:26:09 PM
I won't kill myself or hurt myself. I am pretty sure I won't. But loosing 10kBTC would be a HUGE loss for me, as I'm not rich (if I had $1B I probably wouldn't give a sh*t about it). The chances are pretty low, and I just wrote why. To those who lost this amount of money... Oh well, I'm sorry.
Lol it was a foolish act committed by humans. God always provides a way out for any problems that exist. so why do not you find a way out before doing such a stupid thing?

Really, tell that to all the prisoners on death row (oh, and the Serbians and Muslim women). lol
2322  Economy / Speculation / Re: After Weeks of Price Stagnation, BTC Price Seems to be Moving Up on: July 17, 2016, 05:21:27 PM
...

"The Halving" seemed to disappoint those who were looking for a higher price (myself included).  And BTC price stayed pretty locked at around $666 (hmm...?).  It looks like the halving was factored in by Bitcoinistan -- that is, it was so anticipated that the price moves took place BEFORE.

To my knowledge the $682 level we are at now is the first real move since the halving.  Now that we have several days "Post-Halving", perhaps that fundamental (lower BTC production) will assert itself.

I see no reason why the exchange rate won't continue to rise in the short term. I can't see this bubble popping until the mining fallout happens and that could take months. People are always really slow to realize they're losing money mining. The anticipation of each reward drop seems to move the price more than the actual event. I think we still have months of smooth sailing left. The trick will be figuring out what month to sell before the pop. I'm thinking maybe Sept or Oct.
2323  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People hate Bitcoins? on: July 17, 2016, 05:01:18 PM
They don't hate it, they're simply apathetic.

("Apathetic" means having no feeling or interest for the sig campaigners in the group)
2324  Other / Off-topic / Re: Can Bitcoin be used for God? on: July 17, 2016, 04:57:58 PM
I think yes, but people who using bitoins mostly is atheists.

I resemble that remark.
2325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If no one spends bitcoin what might happen? on: July 17, 2016, 04:54:27 PM
Nothing would happen. As far as I can tell no one spends it now. Everyone is just holding for a price increase.
Well man I think I would have to disagree with you since not all bitcoiners hold their bitcoins now some convert it to fiat and some use it to buy some things on deepweb as I am talking. Well if no one will really spend bitcoin there there wouldn't be a price increase or decrease I think since it is a free market and it depends on buy and sell orders of those who want to buy and those who want to sell.

As far as I can tell very few actual purchases are made with Bitcoin. I'm sure drugs and other deep web stuff is still purchased with Bitcoin but most of the price movement is speculation and trading.

Look at the addresses for the major exchanges and you'll see a lot of day traders are shifting the coins around that make it seem like there is an actual Bitcoin economy when there isn't one.

2327  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People Are Just Too Stupid to Use Bitcoin Right Now on: July 15, 2016, 08:13:22 PM
There are hundreds of millions of tech savvy people worldwide but only 1.2 million Bitcoin addresses that have any meaningful quantity of bitcoins in them. There's another 1.2 million that have dust in them so they aren't buying anything with those addresses. In 6 (six) years Bitcoin has attracted less than 3 million people tech savvy enough to use a Bitcoin smart phone app and only 1.2 million active users.

Pokemon Go was released on July 6, 2016 in only North America and already has 21 million daily smart phone users.

Apple Pay is a piece of shit payment system that only works on Apple phones. It was released less than 2 (two) years ago and already has 4 million users.

Google Wallet is only available in the US, has only been around for 4 (four) years, and has 27 million active users.

People don't care for Bitcoin and it's not because they're too dumb to use it.
2328  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's stopping people from using bitcoin? on: July 15, 2016, 08:08:50 PM
The lack of knowledge and the misunderstanding regarding its backing technology were the one which makes users to stand away from bitcoin as well other digital currencies.

2329  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mark Karpeles on bail on: July 15, 2016, 07:36:22 PM
There are people on Reddit wanting to do an AMA with him. His Reddit username is "magicaltux". Maybe if enough people demand it, we can do an AMA and listen to his own version of how things went.

Most of the questions and comments will be negative and insulting, if you look at the anger out there towards him. It would also not be a good thing for him to comment on things that needs to be

answered in a court of law. His legal representation would advise against that, until the final verdict was given on his case. I too want to hear his part of the story, but I think we are going to have to

wait a couple of years for that.  Roll Eyes

I don't expect he will be in Japan long enough to ever get a final verdict. If he doesn't immediately get on a boat and leave Japan then he's a bigger idiot than everyone thinks he is.

Let's hear how you'd help Jesus with Bitcoin.

Jesus told me he got out of the "savior" business and is now back into carpentry. I already helped him out. He was hanging out with a bunch of his friends at Home Depot. I gave him a few bitcents to help me paint my garage.

Here's a picture of Jesus and his friends. Jesus is wearing the faded red shirt.

I have one question for you. Why bother?

Reward                      12.5
Initial purchase price   $3,000
Conversion rate          663.00
Power cost per 24h   0.36 USD
Revenue per day   0.08 USD
Less power costs   -0.28 USD
System efficiency   140000.00 MH/s/W
Mining Factor 100 at the end of the time frame   0.00 USD/24h@100MHash/s
Average Mining Factor 100   0.00 USD/24h@100MHash/s
Power cost per time frame   32.87 USD
Revenue per time frame   6.70 USD
Less power costs   -26.17 USD
Difficulty   213,398,925,331.00
Average generation time for a block (solo)   2 years, 27 days (can vary greatly depending on your luck)
Net profit first time frame   -1010.17 USD

Hardware break even    -  never

Who pays 32 cent per KWh, I think that even in the UK, the best rates are like 20p (around 27us cent).
Also that's based on mining now, but in the future, that coin's value may increase substantially!

32 cents is a Murrican price. You still won't break even. If you really think the price will go up that much why not just buy Bitcoin and wait for the increase? It really doesn't make sense for individuals to mine anymore.
2332  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Drugs with Bitcoin ? on: July 15, 2016, 01:48:54 PM
Ask one of these guys. I'm sure they can tell you all about it. Both are in jail but they can probably still get snail mail.

2333  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mark Karpeles on bail on: July 15, 2016, 01:26:16 PM
Hold your pitchforks on that point.

In the US at least, most people don't usually pay their own bail. You use a bail bondsman who loans you money for the bail and, presumably, comes and breaks your kneecaps if you don't make payments on the loan or skip down on your bail. They'll sometimes take the title on some property of yours to secure the loan.

I assume the situation is no different in Japan.

Wrong, there are no bail bondsmen in Japan. At least there weren't when I was stationed there. My wife's (married her while stationed at kadena okinawa) brother was arrested. The application he had his attorney submit to apply for bail cost $3,000 back then. It's probably $5,000 today. He also needed to pay the bail in full before he was released. Karpeles not only has a shitload of money at his disposal but must have someone he trusts on the outside helping him.

2335  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: July 14, 2016, 02:30:54 AM
Any Investigative Reporter types around here interesting in writing up a "where are they now" piece ?

Would be interesting to see what all the Butterfly Labs scammers are up to today.

I think Josh is working as a jump instructor or something, but wonder about the others.

I think they were spotted recently at the Ritz Carleton Grand Cayman.

That is an excellent road sign. You can easily see the intent and read it when driving by it quickly. I need to go to Saratoga this weekend, I'm going to make a side trip to look at it in person. You want to meet me there Roger? LOL jk

You can't leave the show now. If you do you'll miss the punchline. Why sit through the whole joke only to miss the punchline?
