this has happened every day for the last three days
right around 6AM EST.

I know slush is aware of it because I have brought it to his attention every day for the last three days. Not sure what the issue is.
2347  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [UPDATED] MTGox and dark pool on: May 22, 2011, 10:23:57 PM
ok

let me put it this way

as of the way things are right now, if you want the best trading price (and the best trading experience IMO) and if your 95% of most people who are just getting into mining right now and want to cash out some btc.....

your going to use MtGox

no its not 100% necessary but we are talking about likelihood here and we are not talking about the future we are talking about right now

my only point is as miners and traders we have to sell this whole BTC thing to the world. Its each and every one of our jobs, and in my humble opinion dark pool trading is one of the things that is going to turn people off...

and BTC has been getting a lot of bad press lately so I just think that getting rid of dark or converting it to iceberg is a great idea little things like this are going to make the world more accepting especially at this time in the game where to really be engaged you in the BTC world you need to be engaged in trading of some sort. (even for the average joe like me)
2348  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [UPDATED] MTGox and dark pool on: May 22, 2011, 07:53:05 PM
im aware of that

however your average joe does not need to trade on the stock market in order to use the USD
and that average joe will never get exposed to DP

but at least at this point in time if that average joe wants to get involved in BTC he is going to need to trade it and going to be exposed to DP at some time or another.

I personally have nothing against it, but people seem to be automatically against anything they dont understand (unfortunately) and DP is one of those pseudo ugly things that will make it difficult.
2349  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Government issued internet ID (potential problem?) on: May 22, 2011, 07:49:07 PM
for one thing "soon" to the united states government can mean 100 years

and for another since when is BitCoin a one country currency?

this article is vastly mis informed, the U.S. does not even have the same basic network infrastructure as some of our European friends yet we plan to completely change the rules of it?

special interest groups (i.e. hollywood, mpaa, riaa, teaparty etc) are always trying to use mis information to push their own agendas.

greed and its interested parties are always going to try to take down things they dont understand that they feel are a threat to their way of life (and support to their bank accounts)
check out stealthisfilm.com

as long as the pirate bay is still standing
i wouldent worry about a take down of the btc network just yet ;>
2350  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Cooperative mining (390Ghash/s) on: May 22, 2011, 05:05:10 PM
After this round finish, I'll recalculate block using share based algorithm to minimize unfairnes in rewards.

Because pool didn't find a block until end of hour, everything fixed up and using share based rewarding isn't necessary now.
I still see a very low reward for ~3 hours hashing. Is this normal?
As from my stats page:

unfortunately our rewards are based on our share of the hashing of 50 btc block that must be split up evenly among all the workers. So a 3 hour share does not necessary pay more or less than a 3 min round. It would be nice if we were paid by the amount of time we are hashing but it simply does not work that way

2351  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [UPDATED] MTGox and dark pool on: May 22, 2011, 11:21:34 AM
At this point I do not trade at a level where I would really use DP, but it does not look good to people who do not understand it, and when it comes to trying to win over the public on this whole bitcoin thing DP is going to make it more difficult.

I have read several bad press items reviewing bitcoin in a unfavorable way, they were all incorrect and misinformed, but features like dark pool trading make the whole thing even less easy to swallow by your average joe.
2352  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Cooperative mining (390Ghash/s) on: May 22, 2011, 10:22:59 AM

2355  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining difficulty rate!! on: May 20, 2011, 05:31:25 PM
yeah I  know that its not supposed to be any kind of usable metric

but I can't deny the fact that my reward per round has gone down in a very real and noticeable way since the difficulty jump.
2356  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Cooperative mining (330Ghash/s) on: May 20, 2011, 12:49:47 AM
ok kewl

so basically it means nothing.

ehehehe

"all your BTC are belong to us"
2357  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining difficulty rate!! on: May 20, 2011, 12:46:50 AM
to put it into perspective

before the last difficulty jump I was getting about .17 .20 per round
now I am getting .13 .19 per round
approximately

that is mining with 1 g/hash

use the numbers to figure out what the difficulty jump means to you.
2358  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Cooperative mining (330Ghash/s) on: May 20, 2011, 12:42:28 AM
slush one of my workers finally found a block , what does that mean exactly? that the total amount of reward finally equaled 50 ?

no big deal just curious what it actually means when one of my workers "finds a block"
2359  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining difficulty rate!! on: May 19, 2011, 11:28:47 PM
those guys that were talking about the fpga clusters were talking speeds at multiple terahash/sec

if someone was getting those kinds of speeds we would start seeing the complete value, difficulty and everything else change completely

its a big jump but its expected, mining is profitable and people are sinking money into it, I doubt its any kind of government agency - BTC is getting big at a fast rate and this is the price we have to pay.
2360  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Cooperative mining (280Ghash/s) on: May 19, 2011, 11:23:52 PM
