so let's see a show of hands...are we in a real bubble?

no, buy there may well be a sizeable correction

It doesn't look like bull blood-boiling, but a manipulator/group of manipulators' cold, calculated hand, fortunately, this hand maybe pushing the price to where we want it to be.

Bull blood boiling like that makes me nervous. I'm a super-bull, but markets can be irrational. *moved over towards proudhons dark corner a bit, shivering in fear*

In a real bubble you would not have enough time to experience fear, it's a very much controlled expansion.
2343  Economy / Speculation / Re: What if it just doesn't go down again? on: February 11, 2013, 02:21:26 AM

For the price to continue to go up, there has to be a continueing inflow of money into Bitcoin. Bitcoin will find a natural price range within this halving, where some of the long term investors will dump some of their Bitcoins.

As prices get higher, small investors only able to buy a few Bitcoins, Don't have anyway of making money off 1-2 Dollar swings in price, so new investors has to be of a more serious size, investing a few thousands first time they get into Bitcoin.

So from a pure scalability point of view, The inflow in Dollar has to increace exponentially and every next generation of investors has to invest an amount the same magnitude larger as the previous price increase.

So two conditions has to be met for the price to increase forever. Each of the two conditions mentioned, has a natural breaking point, so you will see a Bitcoin crash in your life time, don't worry!

Stops going down != keeps going up

It's clear that someone was luring the bears out of their holes, and eat their bitcoins.
2345  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: February 11, 2013, 02:04:08 AM
What's funny is that this thread is part of the reason bitcoin is so easy to manipulate.  Wall watchers watch walls to see if they mean anything, therefore, they mean something.

Yeah since everyone follows your advice every time you make a recommendation to sell.

That's not what I was referring to.  I'm referring to the fact that making large walls can be useful at manipulating the price one way or another because they're given a lot of attention here.

People are just having fun here, you seriously think anyone who is really trading bitcoins is gonna make decisions by wall pictures? No wonder you believe people here would listen to your calls. Shocked

So let me get this straight.

ridgemont4 is a scammer who can't pay off his loans.

Thinks an inane post on bct will move the price.

Good luck paying off those loans when we hit 30 (oh right, you never had any intention of paying them back).

Welcome to bitcoin.

1) false. I have not taken any loan.

2) false. I am simply stating what I believe.

3) what? again, I did not take any loan, and my terms were that I pay back in the equivalent of the USD value when I received it.

4) fuck you.

I'm calling you out dude, you're a fraud. Your words have zero credibility. Nada. Zilch. Talk is cheap. I'm giving you my explicit opportunity to short bitcoins. Put your money where your mouth is and accept my offer!

No, no, you don't get it. This man wants no damn money! He wants respect, respect you know? Wink

Excuse me, but $23.20 is NOT the top.

I never said $23.20 was the top. $23.98 was the top, however I'm calling the top as being $23.98 even though it's $23.20 right now because I just checked the price. I mean who honestly monitors it 24/7? I haven't looked at the price in 15 hours. Do you think Bitcoin will go up further? Well good for you. I don't. SIMPLE.

Stating things clearly is too complicated for you I guess.

It's clear to people with common sense.

No, to people with common sense, "top" is just one single price. You didn't make it clear if the price will never hit $23.98, or just the general "price range"  you later throwed out but didn't even care to define. Otherwise how can we tell if you are right or wrong if the price retraces to, let's say $23.8 but not $23.98? So this is very important.

2352  Economy / Speculation / Re: Does this forum have bears? on: February 10, 2013, 02:40:42 AM
I think I am a bit more neutral than many people here, does that make me a bear? I still believe it's entirely possible that the market could crash right around the corner. But unlike some daydreaming bears here, I am not going to keep my hopes up high that I will have the chance to buy single digit coins simply because I didn't buy more at the time.
2353  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: February 10, 2013, 02:15:33 AM
Recovery from dumps is so fast that there's no time to take at least minimal profit.
Then you just watch price go up and cry, with hope for some dump, to take 0% profit.

Please, take profits. I dare you.

Mwuahahahaha Cheesy  Cool

Someone managed to get a dump of about 8k volume going last Friday, yet the price down-move could not even penetrate $22.0, if you consider the double trading fees, the maximum profit you could get would be no more than $0.4/BTC, and that's how pathetic the dumps have become.

Bears are fighting with limited ammunition, bulls have factorys making more and more ammunition everyday Grin
assumption: fiat is free
fact: fiat is not free is debt

Free is debt, debt is free. Grin
2355  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: February 09, 2013, 04:19:03 PM
Speaking of the money inflow, I have done some random calculations, which could be full of mistakes,  so feel free to correct me. Now that we are still seeing 50k upside volume routinely after we are above $20, which amounts to $1M at its minimum. Assuming this number is all that the bulls are gonna make in case of a crash, and our bullish friends want to keep a handsome profit, so only half of this much would be used to buy back bitcoins latter when the price gets very low, it could still translate to a 250,000 BTC upside volume at $2.

So the conclusion is it's highly unlikely that we will see the price dip to below $2 as it was in November 2011, in fact, I think all the bulls(not including Mr. Loaded)  in this thread combined are capable of stopping the price hitting $2, not taking into account the influence of a major shorting platform like Bitcoinica, while making a sizable profit from the rally we had, what do you guys think? I think I am being quite conservative.
2356  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: February 09, 2013, 01:25:07 PM
This is going to turn into another disaster.

for whom?

For bitcoin, I'm afraid.  I just think that odds are this is the result of a pump and dump effort, and we're still in the pump phase.  I'm just mentally preparing for the whole project to get set back another couple years.

OK but why should you care since you have proclaimed its death more than a year ago?
2357  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: February 09, 2013, 11:45:00 AM
Now it's a bit like, bulls are obviously out of ammunition, but bears are so scared that they haven't made a move.

The way I see it is that only the bears are truly out of ammunition. Bulls are only temporarily out of ammunition. We have seen a massive rise but still we have not seen even the smallest dip in the beginning of the weekend. I see that as very bullish.

I have talked to a few investor types recently, those that like Bitcoin but are not fanatics like me, and many of them think we are currently in a good buying position. In fact I see further increasing of positions from current investors and new investors next week.

Unless the market suddenly turns super bearish and starts to panic, which I think is unlikely absent very bad news, we will likely see further upside next week. There is still room to go up, I think.

That's exactly what I meant, bears could not even push for inches when bull were supposedly(proven wrong) out of ammunition temporarily.
