With only 1 round left, we can say that chances for Tunisia and Cameroon are weak to stay in World Cup. They have a mission impossible. Cameroon has to win vs Brazil and wait for Switzerland to be defeated by Serbia.. Tunisia has to win and score many goals vs France which won't happen unfortunately.
Senegal, Morocco and Ghana still have a chance to pass. Morocco > Ghana > Senegal. It would be awful to not see one of them in the next stage..

German Sky Sport News is reporting that FC Bayern is still interested in signing Harry Kane next summer. Bayern is still looking for a new striker after Lewandowski moved to FC Barcelona. The possible transfer fee is estimated at €80-100m. Harry Kane does not seem to be unwilling to transfer to FC Bayern. Even though there is currently no first-hand information confirming his interest. Harry Kane remains Bayern's desired signing for the summer. The club is neither confirming nor denying the interest in public, the bosses are trying to lay the ground for the transfer in the background.
A move will be more complicated than Mané's transfer, for example. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is considered a tough negotiator and the player would cost €80-100m. It's very difficult, but Bayern are working on it.

So far we haven't really seen any two teams dominating the groups, I don't know if it's normal but we haven't seen a single group with 2 teams with 2 wins, no 6-6 points and 0-0 points group so far, which means many groups will be leaving the results to last game and whatever happens on the last games will be the deciding factor on the rest of it. That's easy to be shocked because even though there could be a few groups that is undecided so far, I really expected at the very least 1-2 groups that would have 2 teams with 2 wins.
Let's see how the other groups will do for their second games, but the real fun will begin on the third games when all will be decided.
In this version of World Cup, basically most teams have equivalent skills and same chances to win and pass. The first round was quite intense then with the second round, things were adjusted a bit in favour of classical teams except Belgium which suffered a surprising defeat vs Morocco. Spain vs Germany I am not very happy with the game of these two teams. Because in this match Spain scored 1 goal in the whole game I thought they will score more than 3 goals to win the match but they didn't. Germany scored a goal in the 83rd minute of the match to draw the match. With the draw, the two teams did not enjoy a very good game.
Spain dropped and let Germany in a way or another score and gave them a chance to pass. It isn't an accusation but mathematically, if Spain won, Germany will definitely leave the World Cup in the most humiliating way. A draw will give Germany a chance to pass since while Spain requires only to draw vs Japan to pass. I know it is hard but I hope to see Japan and Costa Rica winning vs Spain and Germany. No offence but just to give them a lesson to play seriously. |

In case you missed it, Ronaldo got an offer for January, 3 years in Saudi Arabia for 220m€.
I don't think he will accept, he wants to stay in Europe but if no top clubs will call for him he may end there.
That kind of money should be a consideration for Ronaldo because his career in Europe has not been as good as he hoped so it is a very good offer and must be received well for his old age who are still making offers at such high prices. So far, not everyone gets that expensive price. I believe CR7 is willing to get as much records as possible before resigning. He wants to be remembered as the most scorer in this league and the one that played much in that and so on. The first half of the Japan vs Costa Rica match has ended and the score is still a 0-0. Nagelsmann always tries to put Mane in a position that is not the same and that Mane didn't really expect, which makes it seem like it was Mane's fault for not being able to live up to expectations but after being corrected because the results were not very good and giving Mane the right position now they are back as usual and even with this there is Choupo-moting who is getting more attention due to his good performances for Bayern.

Liverpool does not have a chance in the English Premier League title. They are no longer top contenders but they can end up in top 4 if they are serious to displace Manchester United and Newcastle United and yet it is very difficult to happen.
In the Champions League, they don't also have a chance. I don't trust them to beat Real Madrid. What they cannot do when they had Mane and the team was complete, is it now that they will do it?
Liverpool still have a chance to beat Manchester United with existing problems so I'm sure Liverpool can take advantage of this situation to get goals, but for Newcastle this is indeed very hard to fight against because considering their very good game, it was proven that in the last game they managed to win five times in a row. Liverpool, ManU, Spurs and Newcastle are fighting to get the 2 spots left for Champions League since it is hard to see Arsenal or City leaving the other spots. Tunisia is African country that looks like the Europeans. They got draw in their first match and this afternoon they are taking their second leg and they are behind Australia with 1 goal. For they to have the hope of qualifying in this group stage they have to atleast draw this match.
Is what they can do and they need to do it. We remember that only one African country is able to win a match in this World Cup.
North African and some South African are Caucasian, yet they live in the African continent and are part of CAF. The problem of African football is that the level of teams are way behind the other part of the world although many European teams have so many African origin players there, including key players. Even the level of national leagues is very poor, so we cannot expect much from them. If Senegal will be able to pass this stage it will be awesome. |

PSG are of course concentrated on the Champions League championship before anything else. As they have a trio consisting of Messi, Mbappe and Neymar it is like their biggest opportunity to make it. But they need to play with a really strong system from now on. Bayern Munich are one of the title contenders at the same time. Although they haven't made a striker transfer they are still very powerful. I expect a very close matchup but PSG can still do this. Messi has really bad memories with Barcelona against Bayern Munich. Maybe it is time to have revenge on those times.  It is hard to get a revenge from Bayern but I assume if they play good enough they can get a pass through them especially that Bayern has its weakest moments where any team can win against them for a match or two. Now everyone is concentrated on World Cup to see their teams or favourite players. Memphis Depay doesn't suit well into Barcelona and them style of football, it's not that Xavi Hernandez doesn't want to use him but the fact that he doesn't fit in well is observable.
I think Depay fits with Barcelona game style, he only doesn't get enough time to play under Xavi's management. In the previous season, he rarely played because Xavi prefers to choose Aubameyang. While this season, he spent much time on the bench because Xavi prefers to use Lewandowski. So, the problem is about the time to play, not about the characteristics of Barcelona game style. If he was better than them or more suitable for the strategy used by Xavi, he would play more time. Having other options even in the benches is important thing for a team. In Netherlands game vs Ecuador, he wasn't that useful and some people criticised him and the coach for the change done there. |

This world cup is so weird. The performance of the national teams during the first phase isn't matching their performances on the currently groups' stage. Teams we had as strong favorites are playing like average teams or even worse. It is the case of England, Germany, Argentina, Holland. You can analyze the teams, players, history of matches, previous gameplays and still predict a completely wrong result.
On the other hand, Brazil, Spain and maybe France seem consistent. Maybe a final between Brazil and Spain can be expected this time?
Basically this version of World Cup made all teams look the same and with equivalent chances to win a game. Ecuador today deserved to win and I hope that the injury of Valencia isn't that serious or else they will risk to lose vs Senegal next. USA played good vs England also, they threatened them many times but they lack the last touch to score. Iran victory vs Wales was unexpected after their humiliating defeat vs England! |

After winning 9 titles in a streak from 2011 - 2012 season to 2019 - 2020 season, their drop is reasonable. Do you think they can win Scudetto in another 9 seasons in another streak? Why they couldn't? Their players on paper are better than those in the other teams. Allegri is a good coach too. A realistic target for Juventus in next two seasons is a position in top four to play in Champions League. It is important to help their club maintains a good finance income and their attractiveness to star players. After spending two more seasons to buy some more star players and improve their internal quality, they can begin to think of winning Serie A again and even can go further in Champions League.
I agree with the Champions League spots as the first target for Juve regarding their actual situation. They could do more for sure and by the next season they can fight for the scudetto and they should imo. In February they have Europa League games so better to try to win it since one of the best teams there, Barcelona and ManU, will be kicked making things a bit easier.
It is about Europa League but let me use Barcelona, Manchester United and Arsenal as examples. They are all big clubs and have dominating times after that they have been in rebuilding period that takes a few years or even one decade. Juventus can not expect to get much faster rebuilding process. I wouldn't argue with that but it is hard to compare EPL and La Liga with Serie A. Yet your point is still valid. |

Only 4 people answered to the poll, assuming the other members didn't pay attention to it. So it is "None" or Senegal or Ghana.
Senegal was the only team to get 3 points among African teams but this only happened in the second round vs weak Qatar. Their next game vs Ecuador will tell which team will progress between them but honestly Ecuador is very powerful and should not be underestimated. They showed better performance vs Netherlands than their game vs Qatar, it will not be an easy game for Senegal at all.
For the other teams, their mission is harder..

Real Madrid have incredible talents on their side this season and I think these players are capable of filling in for Toni Kroos, Modric and already departed Casemiro for Real madrid. I think if Madrid is signing another midfielder in January it is to boost the depth in the midfield position and they also need to get a striker fill in for injured Benzema.
It would make sense if madrid are looking to sign another midfielder; but i do not think they will be desperate about doing that. With Valverde, Tchouchemani and Camavinga; they have a credible replacements for modric, kroos; and just need to add a top tier elite midfielder to complete the trio in midfield. I believe the urgent signing of a player would be a forwarder that could replace Benzema that unfortunately took injuries over and over and barely played this season.. He wasn't able to play with France in the World Cup. Adding another midfielder would be good too of course but should not limit them from getting a forwarder. |

The second part of the match between Brazil and Serbia was entirely dominated by braZil who won with a 2-goal lead but could easily have been four or five.
The first turn ended for all the groups and the three teams that stood out for performances, for now, are France, Spain (even if he played with a weak opponent) and Brazil.

What this performance that richarlison put on today at the world cup,I think I now understand why Conte went all In for him instead of lautaro Martinez, I think Tottenham Hotspur started dropping points when him and kulusevski got injured,after the world cup Tottenham will play better,the amazing thing about his performance against Serbia today was that he kept Gabriel jesus at the bench,even though the arsenal man is in top top form in the premier League.
The team that is willing to fight for the top spot should be ready for any surprises including injuries although it is expected to happen soon or later for every player and in every game. Now when it comes to Spurs, they wasted many points in EPL and even their defeat in EFL Cup vs Nottingham could not be explained by injuries only. |

Congratulations to France and England for being the only European teams to get good results. Netherlands won too but with difficulty. The other teams got a draw and surprise surprise, Germany lost vs Japan with 2 goals to 1!! Teams and fans are speechless  Spain and Belgium next, hopefully they will not continue bad results  And we thought that the biggest surprise was Argentina having lost to Saudi Arabia, but in the end we have more surprises. Of course, this does not mean that these teams will not qualify, but they made their lives difficult in games that were theoretically more accessible. What will be tomorrow's surprise? Portugal lose with Ghana? Or a defeat by Brazil? Basically Portugal is better than Ghana, Switzerland better than Cameroon and obviously Brazil is superior to Serbia. Now considering the performance of African teams and the weird results we see, I wouldn't be surprised if a draw happens, just like Morocco and Tunisia did. I said draw and not victory since Spain and France boosted a little the psychology of European teams after all the bad results. |
