if that kind of mining power gets utilized it will completely destroy the BTC

edit...

sorry the terahash / sec that was quoted earlier...

thanks for the feedback, as I stated above the prices are not set in stone, and will likely be lower when I launch the online sales module of the website. This is the exact kind of feedback I am looking for , thanks! ;>
2366  Economy / Marketplace / Re: NEW - BTC - Vanilla Visa(c) Service on: May 19, 2011, 03:24:02 PM
USPS Priority Shipping is included in the price you pay for the card.

Vanilla Visa Cards come only in denominations of $25, $50, and $100
2367  Economy / Marketplace / Re: NEW - BTC - Vanilla Visa(c) Service on: May 19, 2011, 12:57:06 PM
Thanks for your input, that is an excellent question. I just want to note that these prices are not set in stone and a partial reason for this post is to get feedback from potential customers.

When our web app is finished and we are ready to offer the online purchases we will then set our final price which will probably be lower (depending on current market values)

Also to answer your question the benefit over bitcoin2cc is you get a physical Visa Card in the mail via USPS priority mail, so you can take it to the store and buy groceries, beer, whatever.

with bitcoin2cc although a great service you are limited to online purchases.

yeah it varies way too much to really be able to predict much. I stopped trying to anticipate a certain reward long ago, and I played the pool jumping game once when I first started mining but I realized that if you are a dedicated miner just choose a pool and stick to it and let it roll....

I am mining with a little over a 1 g/hash (approx 1010 m/hashs) my reward per round usually varies .14 - .17 give or take

with that 4 second round I got .57 (which was the best block for me ever and was super happy)

then of course we got that killer 4 hour round right after which made me realize that either the BTC network has a sense of humor or this thing is way too based on luck to really be able to nail any set number down.

personally I think Slush's pool is the best place to be for many reasons, and you certainly cannot judge any pool based on only 2.5 hours of mining. You should of stayed for the whole round thats why you didnt see any reward, it was just your unluckly day that you decided to experiment in one of the longest rounds we have had in awhile.

No the cards are not re loadable but the thing thats great about these is as soon as you buy it , it is activated and ready for use, theres no need to physically possess the card or to have to register an account and activate or anything like that, as soon as your BTC is confirmed you get the Visa numbers you need to make purchases online, and the physical card arrives in the mail a few days later ready to be used at stores, resturants, gas stations, anywhere that accepts visa.
2370  Economy / Marketplace / NEW - BTC - Vanilla Visa(c) Service on: May 18, 2011, 11:42:07 PM

Greetings Gents,

I just want to get the buzz started about a new service we will be offering on the yet to go public BTC Network.
Our web site is not finished and we are currently working on finalizing the product that will be offered to the public.
All comments are greatly appreciated!

We are currently integrating into our website www.btcnetwork.com a shopping cart system that will allow customers to buy Vanilla Visa - Prepaid Visa Debit Cards with BTC

How this will work is you will complete a check out with and will be given a BitCoin wallet
address for the desired amount
either $25, $50, 0r $100 USD. Upon completion of the order and validation of the BTC transfer
you will receive an e-mail with the Visa Card numbers that you can use to shop online immediately, and you will also
receive the card via USPS priority mail with no additional fees for shipping.

This is a service where you will be paying for the convenience and in most cases (we will be striving for 100% but can not guarantee that
due to the nature of BTC network) you will receive your Visa Card numbers and will be able to shop with those numbers the same day of your transfer.

Prices:
$25 USD - Vanilla Visa(c) Card - 6.5 BTC
$50 USD - Vanilla Visa(c) Card - 12 BTC
$100 USD - Vanilla Visa(c) Card - 20 BTC [best value]

Prices may go down in the future depending on how our relationship with vanilla visa matures and of course these prices may fluctuate with the market. Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you

do you have your memory clocks turned down?

it will make a HUGE difference. Download MSI afterburner
before you run it, edit the msiafterburner.cfg
(in windows 7 you have to open your notepad or getdiz or whatever as administrator)

find

The ATIADLHAL section needs to be changed to this:

[ATIADLHAL]
EnableUnofficialOverclocking   = 1
UnofficialOverclockingEULA   = I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it
UnofficialOverclockingMode   = 2
AccessibilityCheckingPeriod   = 0

then you can downclock your memory clock
but you kind of have to trick it to go down low
just lower it the lowest it will go, and close msi afterburner
than open it again, lower it all the way
close and open again
eventually you will get it down to 300, which is where it should be
you dont really need memclock for mining and it makes the card run much cooler
(I have three video cards mining in one case at over 1 g/hash combined and I run at 67 celcius with 99% GPU load on all three! :> )

hope I could help

2372  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 135 BTC Stolen from my Deepbit account!!!!!!!! on: May 18, 2011, 04:50:13 PM
It does not appear to me to be a proxy, it comes from an ISP called LeaseWeb B.V. that is in the U.S. Netherlands, and Germany
they do colocated and dedicated server leasing

it is probably a co-located linux box and probably hacked

its funny beacuse this guy has a chinese irc nick and using IP from the netherlands

Chinese hackers are some of the most active anywhere, and some of the most industrious...

they probably used the same hacked linux box for an irc bouncer that they used to connect to deepbit
to steal your BTC

in any case its very likely the person is not traceable,
but it couldent hurt to contact LeaseWeb B.V.
and let them know that someone used an IP that they own to steal your money
they may do an investigation and they may not, but its the best move you can make right now.

heres the contact info for their U.S. office

2374  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Cooperative mining (180Ghash/s) on: May 16, 2011, 12:11:25 AM

But... one way to control the adverse effects of wild price fluctuations is to apply cost averaging to your bitcoin transactions. If you always sell you bitcoins on a fixed day of the week, regardless of what they are worth in USD, you will average out the fluctuations. In theory this will allow you to stop worrying about the day to day price movements, and stop trying to "time" the market. If applied consistently, you're average should turn out the same in the end.

Just a little FYI, since the topic of price fluctuations came up.

if your worried timing and catching the best price why not just put in an open order for the price you want and then when the market reaches that price your order will automatically go through. Thats what I do and it saves me a lot of stressing out and watching the markets all day. Set open order to sell high and then to buy low, repeat repeat get rich.
wam bam thank you mam

Steady mining = steady payout
And I really don't see how having an instant payout option is that important (for me)
Unless you are feeding your children with BTC,  I am doing this as an investment and if I get my reward now or in an hour its not going to make much of a difference. If you are making the argument that it slows down your trading that really is not valid either as long as mtgox takes takes its sweet time to confirm your deposit (which it certainly does) as far I can tell the nature of the btc network, its nodes, and the confirmations negate instantaneousness as a general rule.

2376  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Cooperative mining (180Ghash/s) on: May 15, 2011, 10:26:07 AM
Hey I have some questions.

I have been running for about 6 hours with my miner giving me about 800 khash/sec, and my CPU giving me about 500 khash/s. I have yet to receive any shares.

My interpretation of this, is that the miner (I use poclbm), uses the GPU, while the bitcoin application uses the CPU. What gets contributed to the mining pool? Is it just the khash rate I see in poclbm or does it include the khash rate that I see in the bottom left corner of the original bitcoin application? Why haven't I received a share yet? Am I doing something wrong? Should I not be running the actual bitcoin application or what?

my batch file looks like this,

start /DF:\bitcoin\poclbm_py2exe_20110428 poclbm.exe --host=mining.bitcoin.cz --port=8332 --user=user.miner --pass=password --device=0 -w 256 -f 60
Have you tried that new Intel CPU optimized bitcoin-miner?  I tried it on a I core 3 330m and got 5 mhashs more than with just stock poclbm.  Check the forum it works well on amd too (quad core amd got almost 10)

I appreciate you too slush, with my new and improved rig I am pulling roughly 1 g/hash and its all on your pool buddy.

Lets git this money. ;>

sorry if I offended you. I mine exclusively on slush's pool, so I mostly post questions/comments in here... someone was talking about multi gpu's and cooling on this thread so I thought I would ask some of the more experienced guys on here about tips on how I can pull my rig off with cooling, stability etc,,,,

I did not mean to piss anyone off.

all apologies.

sorry it took me so long to respond to you guys I was away working on the new house we are moving to today.
Anyways

I have the corsair obsidian 800d case (5 fans)

ive included some pictures, ive got the 5870 on top and the 6870 on the bottom

(notice the lonely 6870 sitting on top of the case)

I was hoping to get all three cards in this case (there are 5 pci express 16 slots on the mb)
but with all three mining it gets way too hot

after much experimentation i found a solution to keep them running
the only way I was able to keep this stable is downclock the memory to 300 and only overclock the the cores slightly

im running the 5870 at core / 980 and mem / 300 - getting 410m/hash with it on guiminer poclbm
the 6870 is running core / 900 and mem / 300 - getting 265m/hash with it on guiminer poclbm
also both GPU fans are running manual at 75 % (noticed if I go much higher than that system becomes unstable)
anyways im getting 660+m/hashs out of this setup and the second 6870 stands alone (wish I could get that card in this rig!) any ideas?Huh on how I can get this 3rd card in and keep system stable or how I can speed up m/hash and keep system stable/cool
also I think its important to note I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64x and I changed the advanced video settings for 'best performance'
all comments are appreciated!

ive been trying to run a single 5870 and a single 6850 in a case together and I keep getting over heating problems. I do have a proper case with 5 fans and plenty of space between the cards, once they start operating at 79+ degrees celcius for extended time they start getting buggy, not sure what to do
