2364  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Viacoin (VIA) - Safe | Segwit | Lightning Network | Auxpow | Fast on: November 30, 2018, 01:52:56 PM
Hey guys,
I'm doing some basic research on VIA (took a brief look at the WP and some other resources).

I have a few questions:
A) It looks like there was an ICO in 2014, can someone give me details on how exactly this took place and how many investors got how many coins approx.
B) There has been a change of devs, what exactly happened and why?
c) I read most coins are already mined - any details on how the coin-distribution took place exactly and how VIA intends to icentivise miners to mine (fees only?)
- Any other interesting info much appreciated, thanks.

Feel free to direct me to any source that seems legit instead of explaining by yourself.

Thanks in advance!

A) My administration from this time was a bit shoddy, but as far as I can recall I got 5568 VIA for a 0.3 BTC investment, giving it a price of 5388 satoshi in the ICO. I found this overview page: https://questions.coincheckup.com/viacoin/all-available-information-on-the-viacoin-via-ico/
It says the initial price was $0.037, this sort of corresponds with the price of 5388 sat and a BTC price of around $600. Just not sure about the bonus structures anymore and the exact date of purchase. I think you could maybe find more information with some more in depth Googling

B) At the time BTC Drak became a BTC Core developer. I think the workload was too high to continue working on VIA so he handed over the reigns to the extremely competent prodigy Romano Wink

C) Distribution was partly done by the ICO and the remainder by PoW Scrypt mining. I'm not sure in what sense miners would need to be incentivized after all VIA have been mined, since it is merge mined with BTC, but maybe Romano could chime in here?

Thank you very much for your response!

According to this page, only 10.86% of coins were distributed during ICO: https://chasing-coins.com/ico/VIA
Is this correct and if yes, all the other coins were mined later?`

2367  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [ANN] CRYPTOCOSMOS: Cryptocurrency Deck Of Cards LIMITED # - unique crypto game on: November 30, 2018, 12:57:18 PM
Update: The two test decks arrived today! I am now analyzing everything to make some minor changes for the final print and sending a few questions to my printing service regarding the silver embossing on the box.
About 8 cards still need to be finished. I hope to start the final print around middle of next week. Will keep you updated.

If you haven't paid, please make payment now, the costs are still based on higher valuations of BTC, so it's a good deal for you. I will send out new invoices tomorrow if you miss your payment now.

2369  Economy / Collectibles / [WTS] Monero XMR: PRIVACY-SECURITY-FUNGIBILITY card | limited:28/128 available on: November 30, 2018, 05:43:48 AM
Presenting my Monero card 2018. It's quite a big card (double the size of my recent BTC card). I am really happy with the design, hope you like it as well.

About the card

- front: Monero Logo Artwork
- inside: two pages to write on (left: Monero logo watermark, right: Monero XMR watermark)
- backside: XMR - Privacy, Security, Fungibility*
- dimensions: 21 cm x 21 cm (8.25 inch squared)
- limited to 128
- individually stamped and numbered

*This case shows why fungibility matters: https://www.newsbtc.com/2018/11/28/us-treasury-sanctions-bitcoin-addresses-two-iranian-men-in-ransomware-hacks/

NOTE: I may use this motive again for a card. I plan on creating one edition of a XMR-gift card (including a priv key with a low amount of XMR and a hologram). However the inside will be different and it will also use special gold-colour for some highlights. This gift-card will also be limited and is expected to be released not before early/mid 2019. A poster or print is also possible, the original graphic is 54 cm² at 300 dpi.

2370  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Limited Edition Blockclock from Coinkite on: November 30, 2018, 04:52:40 AM
I would wait for the price drop which will surely come. No way will they sell many at 5 grand (they might not even sell any.) It takes cojones to even ask that much. Or the seller has a low opinion of collectors and thinks we will buy anything. I might buy one at $500. Are you reading this Coinkite?
+1

It looks really really cool. But even at $500 I would think twice about it right now.
2371  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A different perspective on Bitcoin's price development: Logarithmic Growth on: November 29, 2018, 05:37:06 PM
a lot of predictions about the price of bitcoin, but it is time to understand that no one technically and fundamental analysis works in this market

Even though I agree with the fundamental sentiment, that Bitcoin is not just another asset class that can be easily compared, there are some fundamental similarities with Amazon or Facebook in regards of adotion and corresponding value.
The logarithmic growth model is - even based on logic alone - much more realistic than any exponential models.

However, I personally believe we might deviate heavily from it, when there will finally be a flood of merchants and services coming in, adopting BTC as their payment option. When Lightning Network is out of beta alpha, then this could create another short-term exponential rush into BTC.
Interesting times ahead!
2372  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which will survive in long run Bitcoin or Blockchain??? on: November 28, 2018, 11:15:53 AM
Everyone on this forum is familiar with Bitcoin and Blockchain technology. So no need to discuss what they are except this; Bitcoin is first or we can say father of digital currency world and Blockchain is new revolution in digital technology world.
Currently market is down after a golden run and every day millions of people came to know about this new market and its uses. Some with negative views and some advocate it.Many country allowed crypto trading and many banned because of speculations and scams. There is lots of media attention about Bitcoin since its evolution and then its price rise. Many called Bitcoin a shit/fraud/scam when first it came into light but within 7-8years it touched $20000 per coin.
On other hand many new Altcoins like ETH, Ripple etc. also gain popularity and boost the need of blockchain in every filed. Now from media news and discussion on many forum I came to conclusion that everyone(Govt. big business houses) wants to adopt Blockchain technology but same time they are either opposing or banning Bitcoin and its uses.So my question is will Bitcoin survive or fall???What will happen if every country launch their own crypto currency using Blockchain technology???Will Bitcoin disappear???Please share your views/opinions and experience.

As others mentioned before, your question is fundamentally flawed.
It is similar to asking: Which is better, the new Jeep or all-terrain tires?   It just doesn't make much sense.
I would generally advice to check out Andreas Antonopoulos if you want to increase your cryptocurrency, blockchain and Bitcoin knowledge: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJWCJCWOxBYSi5DhCieLOLQ
2373  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / A different perspective on Bitcoin's price development: Logarithmic Growth on: November 28, 2018, 11:02:52 AM

As someone that is not really interested in technical analysis and drawing fancy lines in charts all day, every day, I still decided to make this post.
The main reason is to give all the newbies that might have been burned during the last months a different, long-range perspective on Bitcoin.
And I also think this is in general an interesting perspective for everyone interested in Bitcoin price analysis with a focus on larger patterns.

Here is the excellent article by "Awe & Wonder": https://medium.com/coinmonks/bitcoins-logarithmic-growth-rates-facebook-s-s-curve-and-future-projections-22d8acaaa801

Some important quotes:
"According to Willy Woo, the space is currently somewhere in the early adopters phase."

"Currently, for every 1% increase in time there is a corresponding 5.87% increase in price.
Again, similar to Facebook’s adoption S-curve, BTC is increasing in price at a decreasing rate."

Currently Bitcoin's price is almost 50% below its logarithmic trend line!
So stay cool and hodl. My opinion. (Not financial advice, I am not a financial advisor)

As always I would encourage to make the best investment you can, by educating yourself about cryptocurrency, blockchain and Bitcoin. Andreas Antonopoulos would be my #1 go-to-point here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJWCJCWOxBYSi5DhCieLOLQ

Thank you for the feeback guys. Will definitly be using silver for the final box design.
If we are lucky, next batch of test-cards will arrive in two days, latest arrival time is estimated to be on the 6th of December. Will keep you posted.
Design for NEM, GBYTE and Stellar cards is finished. Currently working on some of the extra cards and details for the box.

OP updated with all reservations / available cards.

Here is a quick peak at the current status of the box front. I expect to have all the lines engraved and printed in gold or silver (have yet to decide which one).

The rest of the deck is coming along well.
More updates next week, I am traveling until Tuesday.
2379  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: November 21, 2018, 08:01:56 PM
Hey guys.
Having a free raffle for an XMR card right now, if interested check this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5072845.0
Make sure to read the rules before applying.

Looks like it would make a great gift card for christmas with a seed word inside. Smiley

Thank you. I will sell it as a postcard/collectible card (a friend of mine framed it and it looks great), but I have plans for a "gift-card" as well. Currently talking to my printing service regarding special gold-coloured lining to make it look more special and also producing temper proof holograms is not done over night.
Will post here when this project is finished, probably in a few weeks.
