2381  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-04-24] Ukrainian energy ministry website hit by ransomware attack on: April 24, 2018, 04:33:26 PM
Ukraine on the news yet again, but not due to the corrupt goverment this time
hackers managed to deface the energy ministry's website, demanding the ransom of ... 0.1 bitcoins
the ransom page is highly unprofessional, also the demand is a joke, although some other sources say it is actually 10 bitcoins they are demanding not 0.1

2382  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alternative analogue of channels "Telegram" in blockchain on: April 24, 2018, 03:17:15 PM
Telegram is crap and they want my phone number to send me a pin-code which is nothing about my privacy plus
it has become clear that Russia wants the keys or they will ban Telegram because other governments are already
being given access to these so called "End to end keys"

I am working on a network that is decentralized and truly end to end encryption using Secp256 on the network that
provides SOCK4/5 interfaces if your interested in writing the message app and don't want to get involved in node discovery

Quote
Fee for Gas. In this example, it was: 0.000140962 Ether ($ 0.09)

Why would anyone want to pay and this leaves a digital paper trail anyway

completely agree,it is amusing as P.Durov positioning himself as a "freedom of internet" fighter
meanwhile sending end to end keys to the govermental agencies at his own discretion
now that Russia openly asked him to do same,he,suddenly, became a knight in shining armour
the only thing he is concerned about is his market share and profit
also he must have some grudge against the russians, since they are, probably, the only country that doesn't have the backend access to the "most secure messenger"  Grin
2383  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How do you keep your mnemonic phrases? on: April 24, 2018, 02:06:09 PM
you can show your kid how it is working and even teach him how to use Nano or Trezor (doubt a 7-year old would grasp it all, tbh)
but I would rather keep my coins in a paper wallet in a secure place
then trust everything even to the safest of the hardware wallet
especially after I have explained to my underage kid how it is working and that it contains alot of money Smiley
2384  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How do you keep your mnemonic phrases? on: April 23, 2018, 02:31:37 PM
Since other posters already suggested good ideas, I'd like to share one sort of "unorthodox" way of storing your mnemonic phrases.

Memorize it. Yes, you heard that right. A 12-word recovery seed is a lot easier to memorize that most people thought(though memorizing 24-word seed is still possible, just significantly harder). But I understand that this is definitely not for everyone.

this one, along with the google doc storage are the worst IMHO
both run the risk of losing access too easily
I have a very good memory, yet I stumble upon sites or accounts I created several years ago and passes for which I was supposed to rememeber
many I do,but there were a couple of frustrating episodes where I could not no matter how I tried
besides you can be injured (god forbid),suffer from a temporary amnesia etc.
you would not want your savings to be gone forever in this case

will you STOP quoting that scam links bot?
if you do,remove the link, don't help the scammer to promote it
jeez, people, this thread is not self moderated, try to think for a second not just seize the opportunity to post for the sake of posting  /end rant
2386  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is Getcryptotab.com a scam on: April 23, 2018, 11:29:27 AM
I don't consider Google Chrome as the most secure web browser out there.

Fundamentally, web browsers shouldn't be considered secure at all, especially so if they sniff through everything you do on the internet, and almost all browsers do that. Google's Chrome browser is the worst in that aspect. If that's what you meant with it being not the most secure, then I definitely agree with that. People however don't seem to care much as long as it works smooth enough for their day to day operations. On top of that, there are certain legal aspects to it that people don't look at either, especially if they use VPS's or dedicated servers to have them run all day because they already rented them. It all looks easy and fun, but when it comes to making money, everything has its price -- making money like water doesn't exist, even not in the crypto market.

It is exactly what I meant. I have witnessed several cases where google chrome was the problem in my work leading to nasty viruses , of course most of the fault was from the users but still google chrome was the tool that lead into it. Now I have enforced the rule to use always the latest Firefox hardened for all the users I manage and so far together with Eset Smart Security all is going well.

it doesn't matter, you can get viruses on Firefox too
Chrome or Firefox-if you surf various dubious sites with tons of popups and crap going in iframes
you are almost certain to catch some nasty thing sooner or later
if you plan to surf some sites that you are not sure about, use sandbox or shadowdefender
this way your system will not get infected whatever you do
2387  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Had a talk with my son today about my bitcoins on: April 22, 2018, 05:46:26 PM
that was a crazy decision to tell your kid about the electronic money
he is not mature enough to understand it and you run a risk of losing your coins because of that
in my eyes cons outweigh the pros in this case quite heavily
not even talking about the security risks,a kid could boast about it,someone could use him to take that Nano of yours under any pretext etc.
seven year olds cannot be trusted with such info, but you can an should educate him about bitcoins and money without endagering your life savings
2388  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is Getcryptotab.com a scam on: April 22, 2018, 05:34:06 PM
its legit and paying
it is paying peanuts and not worth your time
they use your computer to mine coins and are a simple variation of Coinhive
you don't want to run some questionable software in the background and earn 2-3$ a month
2389  Economy / Gambling / Re: Nitro randomly locking accounts ****(Poker related not Sportsbook)**** on: April 22, 2018, 09:09:07 AM
at least you got your money back and your account unlocked
means that Nitrogensports do care about their image and their support is working a ok
this was resolved faster than I thought it would, although you did make the right choice of withdrawing the money and waving to the site
since you never know what pretext they will find next time to block your account
on the other hand, maybe poker table cheating was getting out of hand and Nitro had to react in some way
but they chose the way that is neither here nor there,to be honest
2390  Economy / Gambling / Re: Diceum.com | Faucet | Invest | Affiliates | 10+ currencies on: April 21, 2018, 07:08:40 PM
no proof of funds, investment is nonexistent so at the moment the whole bankroll is provided by the site (if it is)
the site itself looks okeyish, maybe some questionable poisonous green colour scheme that is annoying, but maybe its just me
the grand faucet of 10 satoshis is better than nothing and the ability to choose the range of the roll is a nice touch
but al in all-too many red flags and no garantee you will get paid or your investment will be returned
lets wait for the owner to come and say something really reassuring Smiley

Basically owner is still active here, but seems that he is ignoring us. At least he was online yesterday and I believe he read all above posts, too bad he did not even try to clarify everything especially the one that I found about the number of btc being paid which is now disappeared.

So his site is claiming to have 1.5btc wagered so far on the site yet they do not dedicate to answer a few of the potential players questions regarding there own site?
Seems they do not care to have anymore clientele on their site to view it from being a reliable site to deposit any bitcoin on.

you have to really, really like risk to deposit anything substantial there anyways-it is a new site
1.5 btc wagered is,most likely khm... imaginary wagered,as has been pointed out above
even if it is true, then it means nothing,I can wager 1.5 bitcoins myself with 0.01 btc if I wanted to
well lets give the owner the benefit of the doubt, its a new site, after all, they are rarely plain amazing from the get go

I see, this guy is something special
sadly,I don't have enough short buses to drive this kind of guys around
oh no-I have been winning and winning and then I switched to a more expensive coin and lost,it can't be -since I did everything same
must be a scam!

well, then if you feel you have been scammed, open a scam accusation thread
so  other gamblers can laugh at you too,not just me  Grin
2393  Economy / Gambling / Re: Nitro randomly locking accounts ****(Poker related not Sportsbook)**** on: April 21, 2018, 11:52:35 AM
never had any problems with Nitrogen, although it is not my site of choice to bet to be honest
since you have been banned due to multiaccounting, the only reasonable explanation is that
you used a VPN that shares ip with another dude having an account with them
or Nitrogen started to witchunt users who use anonimizers of any kind

Think they stepped up I see posts starting in June and upticking right around December that show they where painting anyone with a vpn with same brush. So if that is how they want to proceed they need to state that they are against vpn in the rules for clarity. Otherwise they are setting up a stage of banning players that run up a amount only to find out they are in trouble upon withdrawl. Angling the player base is not a good look and they should address this aspect. It will increase more than decrease in the future as people look to protect their privacy. Lot of sites are recommending this basic step, my issue I think was using a free one.
Even so they should look at players play and login habits to find cheats rather than going off one aspect.

lets not forget this is not going to effect people that use sportsbooks for the most part. So most people coming forward will be having no issues with Nitro.

Have been contacted by a few folks that had or are in same spot. Think a few where actually cheating in the cases I looked at but there seems to be a few that look to be innocent. Also realize some of my links could be same guy posting issue over and over, so I can really only speak for myself.

Edit:(April 21, 2018, 03:27:52 AM)

Have a final response on the matter but waiting on a aspect to be settled before posting and wrapping things up. Once this is handled I will post my thoughts and the response from nitro.

yeah,Nitro should state in their FAQ rather then banning people at their discretion, based on some guy reporting you
bitcoin gambling must be as anonymous as possible,IMHO
if I want my data disclosed,I can go gamble at any regular casino online (holding my passport in my hand, too)
will check the thread from time to time to see the progress,if Nitro give no explanation and just keep you banned,I assume for no reason other than trying to be anonymous
means they could lose much more customers due to the bad publicity like this

out of curiocity:do you code any type of scripts?
only standalone or you can do dicebot scripts as well (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=307425.0) ?
are there free simple strategies, like Martingale, script samples one could test?

My friend and I did an experiment - auto strategy that ran for 5 days on 2 accounts and never lost.  We decided to replicate using BTC - same decimals, same strat and within 45 minutes we both busted out.  Coincidence?  I think not.  Extremely sad when you discover this site is 100% rigged and it is also illegal to steal from people.

~edit btw we tried first on a low value currency using the same settings with the same stakes & number of decimals.

you guys are funny
have you ever heard about odds of a streak happening?
let me direct you to this site, for example:  https://dicesites.com/tools
here you can calculate the probability of streaks, the odds etc.
your "system" can run for a week without busting and then it can bust 10 times in ten minutes
read more about provably fair and randomness first, before throwing out baseless rigged accusations

oh wow,the old classics is back
been awhile? was one of the first sites I gambled at,classic plinko game
I remember really generous prizes in chat,memories.... think more than 0.01 a pop was quite usual Smiley
what happened to the site? has it been reworked or you just had no time to post in this topic for seven months?

After the fee explosion last year business basically dried up and we had to suspend the chat-lotto because it was too expensive. Things are starting to pick up again now, it's great to see another big x999 winner. There just hasn't been any activity to post about until recently.

Our focus is mostly on the Clambling project for now. We're excited to bring this new offchain gambling engine to the public and hope many people will come play it and tell us how we can best improve. New features are being continuously added, so keep checking back!
I see, yeah the fees were quite high for the gamblers to play onchain
now it is much better ,also offchain betting offers much more in terms of regular clientelle, not just several plinko lovers Smiley
you do need more exposure, though, the game is awesome and I love the design and colours and it deserves a larger crowd IMHO

this might be the place I've been looking for
one question-afer you've launched the site, will there be any fee to join?
or it will be free with a premium section?
I see some very respected tipsters on your list, what incentitive do they have to publish their tips on your site?

guys before salivating about anything with porn(hub) in its name take a second and search "pornhub casino", "pornhub casino scam" etc.
I swear you will find some interesting articles to read
also,it is not a cryptocasino in a true sense of  word
yes now you can deposit crypta,BUT you cannot withdraw coins
you can only withdraw to your card and that means...yes you guessed right-KYC,documents scans, cat's names-full nine yards
think twice and always check where are you going to send your coins to
