hey gents

since we are on this topic maybe you can help me out. I built a new rig and im trying to run more than one gpu's at once for mining, I have three a 5870 and two 6850's. I have the proper motherboard, case with plenty of cooling and a 1200 watt power supply, but I can not get even two of them to run well in the case together, they all start getting too hot
any ideas?

its certainly possible, My wii is modded to play home brew software as well as backup copies of games, someone like waninkoko could certainly write the code for the miner, hes a genius when it comes to wii cios coding....

is that really a myth? I know I read that on some pools official faq, oh well....

Although I am a Network Administrator the way that bitcoind works and interacts with the miners is still somewhat new to me, but I have been reading about it and am understanding it quite well. I find issue with the statement that because a pool has a higher hash rate that it will be more profitable for the miners. It seems to me that once a pool reaches the level of being able to mine blocks the individual roles of the miners and their payouts should not be affected.

Can you explain how having a 500 g/hash compared to 200 g/hash will be more profitable to the miners? Because I am considering this and not seeing it.

thanks!

be mindful of proper cooling on amd chips, I tested on quad core 2.5 ghz with one of those stock heat sinks and fans, core temps were hitting high 70's celcius....

intel chips mine much cooler with it

not bad, getting about 5mhashs with my intel i-core 3 330m (2 core 4 threads)

good work!

one thing I would like to remind everyone is the longer you stay connected to slush's pool the better the payout

I made a decision that I was going to stay with slush with my 375+m/hash (and growing) and im sticking to it
how much more do you really think deepbit is going to net you? and with what cost
the market is still unstable, it jumps up and down 1.00+ usd every day, we need to work together and mine mine mine....
since poor slush went on a vacation and his server crashed (which probably was an attack IMO) everyone has been running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Wheres your loyalty? Slush has a better payout system and a fairer fee, and he works very hard for this thing which we are all very fortunate to be a part of. IMO, we need to band together and make slush's pool better together ive mined with deepbit and over there you feel like just another number. It's much more personal here.

keep up the good work slush
and dont get discouraged
im here with ya bro.

thanks for the info, it just seems so much slower than it was before

I'll keep mining away though...

on another note, im looking to buy a new righ with two cross fired 5770's what kind of speeds you think I could get from that?
2388  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Cooperative mining (270Ghash/s) on: May 09, 2011, 04:15:40 PM
ive been mining at 375 m/hashs since slush came back and got it back up and running...

it seems like unconfirmed keeps going up, but confirmed is going no where

I definitely should of made something in the last 15 or so hours

whats up with the confirmations ?

hi

just a little note for reference and why I support slush

I have been mining for the last 8 days with a ati 5870 rockin the guiminer at approx 375m/hashs

I am a network administrator with over 20 years of experience but I am new to Bit Mining, I originally chose slush's pool because he seems sincere, and the payment method seemed the most straight forward.

In any case I mined almost 15 BTC in the last week and was pretty happy with that, that was at around 335 m/hashs I made some tweaks today and I hope this week will get me almost 20, and I plan to buy some more hardware when funds come available to make the purchase

anyways like I said Im new and slushs pool was the first I tried, when he was down today I tried deep bit, half the day I did the proportional payments and the other half of the day I did the Pay per share,.... I must say its an odd thing, PPS is great except they over compensate themsevles with a 10% fee to make up for paying for shares that did not really get submitted. I can almost bet that in the long run they greatly profit because on that 10% and the actual amount that they pay out that they shouldent have is probably in the low single digits most of the time.

Now running the proportional payments is kind of scarry cause it is based largely on luck and analyzing some of the shares I can see situations where I made 1BTC and one single other person made the rest, and I hate seeing that. Also the way proportional payments are set up its almost as if you really need to stay with deepbit indefinately or you may never get what you deserve, kind of like you are always waiting for the "long run" to show up......

Slush I would like you to answer how your payment methods differ from deepbit and I also want to pledge my support to you. I think that this technology is very new and there are kinks to work out. My prediction is that Slush will still be a big name when the last coin is mined, and I look forward to working with you to get out every last one.

....

one other thing I'm dying to know, slush or any of the other big dogs around here, can you please just for reference post a couple of things?
( I really appreciate it!)

what kind of mining hardware your using?
how many m/hashs are you getting on your miners?
how may BTC's are they mining per week?

Thanks so much! I started out last week with this 5870 that I bought off craigslist for $150 - and I fell in love with bit mining
this week I am going to put up my 2011 MacBook Air for sale to buy some more mining hardware (maybe a 6990)

thanks for listening and I hope to hear back from you!

greetings friends,

When I learned about this concept I thought it was one of the coolest things I've come acrossed in awhile. My first attempt at mining was with a iCore-3 cpu and that was crawling along at 1.5Mhash/s, so I found a great deal on a Saphire Vapor-X Radeon HD 5870 (craigslist $175) and have been rockin that with the guiminer and getting 300MHash/s+ ... my question is do you think its better for someone in my position with a fairly decent gpu to just use the bitcoin client on my own or to participate in a pool (which I am currently doing)

What is the standard accepted as a Ghash rate that is capable of mining on its own? Is there any recommendations here , where is the cut off point?

Thanks!
