@JorgeStolfi:

If you lose money to credit card fraud, you have hope to recover the money, or at least a big company that will be interested in hunting down the thief. If your bitcoins are stolen, you will never get them back, and all you will get from the bitcoin community is shrugs and jeers.

Jorge, you're presenting a comparison of an 5-year old child (bitcoin) with a 200 year vampire (fiat). Yes, there's the infrastructure to go after a CC theft, but were not EVER reported stolen funds over CC fraud? You (and any sane people) may be after your monthly CC reports, or you've managed to get an online confirmation via your CC payment system, but are you sure everyone out there acts like this?

Sure, there are many ways to store private keys securely.  Yet bitcoins still get stolen.  How is that?

In both cases ANYTHING that represents a store of value is subject to a theft. How come and bitcoins get stolen? EASILY (if you are not paranoid with security). Do you think 2M users of bitcoin are keeping their wallets safe? I'd use Pareto principle to make a hard guess of 80%-20% here. They're not. Same as with CC. I've seen many people keeping their CC pin in the same wallet with their CC. Neat eh?

Seriously do you think Bitcoin is less secure than fiat?
Yes I do.  How do you propose to measure that?

Measurement of bitcoin security vs fiat. The answer has a lot pros to bitcoin; I'll stick with the basics though:
1. Bitcoins are stored in YOUR wallet - Fiat is stored at someone else's wallet
2. Bitcoins need no trust to anyone but the internet to operate - Fiat needs you to entrust a third party for storage/supply/availability
3. Bitcoins are not subject to inflation (ie: someone decides to just pop up a couple of millions for his daily needs) - Fiat........

Just for curiosity, if some day you use bitcoin to buy a car, how will you make sure that the address that you are sending the bitcoins to is indeed the car dealer's?  What will you do if the car dealer tells you that they did not receive any bitcoins, and that their payment address is not the one you used?

Do you propose that you NEVER messed up copying your CC ID online? BTC has its QR code for that. Scan - Charge - Pay. Simple as that. Both cases have their pros and cons. Don't postulate that fiat is better than bitcoin. I won't postulate bitcoin has no problems too. IT HAS! but they're being solved and this makes it lot better than Draghi's decision for negative interest rates. You DO REALIZE that if you keep your cash in your bank next year it will be LESS?

Fellows, one is certain with Bitcoin: That no certain prediction is possible. We may CCMF for no apparent reason or we could slide down the slope for no apparent reason as well. People involved are more or less similar to you and me; other times bearish, other times bullish. Don't expect miracles. It will go up or it won't. It could as well play it "dead" for a while.

- If you're in for the trading, there are a TON of other "products" to trade and believe me, you will get A LOT more with A LOT less stress.
- If you're a holder, just sit back and relax. Do other stuff, or troll in here if you like, but don't get frustrated because this won't affect the price whatsoever.
- If you're a paid troll, please PM me, I want to know your payroll per post count, just to see if it's fair for me to quit my day job and join forces with you. Grin

Sorting things out with the shipping has turned out a small nightmare. The most economic way seems to be the EMS ground international which charges about 40eur for a 20kg pack. It's not insured so please take this in mind before attempting to ship your miner to us.

For the time being, and since the day of install (August 26) the farm has produced BTC0.21083463. We're mining all miners on BTCGuild.

Always wondered why hodlers hang out in speculation.. makes no sense. What do they care, they will never participate in price discovery.

Truly remarkable question! Why would one who owns Apple or Microsoft stocks for 20 years would hang out in a speculation forum of WallSt. regulars... Makes no sense! What do they care, they will never participate in price discovery.

It's been fun meeting you esse83. Time to get some sleep though... not that there would be any difference from being awake with my IQ rating... Wink

That's the essence of human biodiversity. One can give whatever meaning he likes to a gesture and there's absolutely no problem what the other one thought what that gesture was. Same with signs, books, even money! It's all a matter of perspective. Keep your fiat. I'll stick with my BTCs. We'll meet at the end of the hall. I assure you we will leave with the same profit when the game ends. Smiley

So you agree with me Smiley Ok, happy that you changed your mind. You can't reduce money to just paper (or whatever is representing it).

But of course I agree with you. That's because you're smarter than most of us here and you're choosing fiat over BTCs. What else could I do?  Wink

Nice sarcastic rebuttal about something completely different. Folly yet again. Stick to the topic young silly one.

The topic flipped from fiat to BTCs or vice versa to who's the smartest of us two. You won. Folly because I admitted my ignorance and bowed in front of your superior intelligence? Don't forget, you just typed it! I'm just a silly one (not so young though). Smiley

You can't reduce the function and meaning to whatever is representing just that. Handshake is just two hands connecting in a certain way, but we add meaning to it do we not? What if I reduced that to nerves, muscles, fat, movement, etc and told you thats all there is to it! It's pointless! It carries no meaning at all. Let's take a statue, just a rock with a certain form, but still just rock! Meaningless!

Obviously you would disagree and explain to me that there is more to it than that! See your folly? Now stop with the nonsense.

Hell I could add bitcoin to that nonsense, its just ones and zeroes! Meaningless electrons!

What made me decide to get involved again wasn't the possibility of ROI of the invested machines, but several other reasons. What I believe is the best for all miners out there, is to mine and hold because at some point in the near future they will be very sad they didn't.

But (as many others have pointed out), if one believes that the price will rise enough at some future time, why not just buy bitcoins on the market, rather than mining them for a cost that is higher than their market price?

This is not always the case. Yes it would have been more profitable to me but only short term and finite. The second thing is the mining role to the bitcoin transaction network (I believe it will be implemented on the next update). This is important IMHO. Again Jorge, it's all a matter of perspective.

The current prices are indicating that only the true believers are going to stay into the game.
...

This is very bearish, because bitcoin price needs new bagholders, with plenty of fiat and willing to buy high.
True believers have millions of bitcoins, and a fair amount of fiat, but way to little fiat to pump the price into another mania.

im pretty sure that bitcoin doesnt need that lol.
bitcoin would still work with a price of 1$.

anyway true believers are more like this:

If this doesn't convince you, I really don't know what will...

Well, I have quit mining since sometime in 2013. Last month I've decided to get back in (you may be interested into our little project if you're into the EU area: http://goo.gl/xtJZIr). What made me decide to get involved again wasn't the possibility of ROI of the invested machines, but several other reasons. What I believe is the best for all miners out there, is to mine and hold because at some point in the near future they will be very sad they didn't.

The current prices are indicating that only the true believers are going to stay into the game. Same goes for miners and/or for traders. The traders have the advantage of fast gains (also fast loss), the miners don't. But without miners there will be no trading. So they both may want to revise their tactics. It's not that hard to understand where this is going!

Thanks for taking this to public and clarifying for everyone to know. I truly believe this coin will do just fine and the best thing for the people to do is to be patient and not cashout for small profits just yet.

Cheers.

Same here Greg. There's no easy way to say this. It's a bad marketing strategy. If you try a very old version you can still withdraw your funds from the lottery wallet,  while with the last couple of updates it just resets everything to 10,000. Sad

Hi Macsga,

For the moment it only makes sense to play to G2,000,000 per day.

Even with the idea you mentioned which does make sense too you will
still only play to the same limit.

The difficulty is that the app game needs controls that would be ideally
done by the server. This would slow the game play too much.

The reset was needed to try and lock the hacker out. There are no guarantees
the problem is solved. For the moment best not to spend too much time playing.

The target of the game is for a lot of people to win maybe G1,000,000
While it's fun to try and win hundreds of millions the game won't facilitate
that. What we're looking for is 50,000 customers with G1m, Not 50 with G1b.

It is a work in progress. We will keep trying to change it.

Thank for the idea's

Best
Greg

Greg, you misunderstood me. I'm not talking about the distribution method. I have previously mentioned a "sane" distribution plan a few posts above and I think, the best way to do it it by limiting the daily supply of GCN. What I was talking about is the "reset your profits" twice to the early adopters. You see, even if it doesn't seem right, people like Matt, IceColdTommy, myself and others on this thread deserve the "extra" mile towards the next players. Using macros, mining, gifts from friends we DESERVE the gains from it just like you deserve yours.

This has happened with frontmen of BTC, LTC, DOGE and practically with any distributed digital crypto currency. Some people will definitely be the pioneers of an idea and GCN, -that's what it is- an idea. People who first distribute this idea deserve a fair amount of it. This is common ground to any idea and it is vital for these people to spread the word around. If they're not happy they simply won't do it. The idea will remain an idea and that's where the whole project stops...

I strongly believe that ANY gains within the slot game, your (next) racing game or mining is for your best interest to remain intact. 1M? 2M per day withdrawal from the temporary wallet? ITS OK. It will still take about 1 month for the people to get their funds... But resetting the gains of the people?! You just failed their hopes! You see, that's why the game was fun until now! And that's how I personally distributed the idea!

-Woah, look man I have gained 75Millions of GCN!!! I didn't get them yet but I can withdraw 2M per day!
-GCN? WTF is that?
-Here let me show you... download the app, let me scan your QR code... here! have a million too! Now you're a GCN Millionaire.

I hope all the above will help you to decide what's best for your efforts on GCN.

Cheers.

This is what kept me going for so long

the problem is you need BIG money to make a significant move upwards...but there is no big money...just some enthusiasts kept the price up the last weeks when the downtrend was inevitable...i would not say bitcoin will be gone...but only people left in bitcoin will be enthusiasts with a lot of investments...the technicaffine average joe (more or less like me) is getting out and will not come back....too much money is already burned

Understanding bitcoin requires several skills (ie: Advanced Mathematics, Econometrics, Social Engineering, to name a few) while participating ONLY a leap of faith. Yes, I know the wealthy people are now only the 1% of the general population worldwide. Now I want you to think hard:

If BTC becomes a "Store of Value" do you think this percentage will change?

Think again.

I'd not define "cheating" what you can do in a real slot machine. Ever been into a casino? Everybody's automating "press the button" function. There are certain ways to do so in real life, and so it is in digital life as well. Some people will always have the "extra" brains or gear (in my case 4 tablets) to gain more per day.

What I truly wouldn't do though, is trying to cheat the online wallet via attacking. I find this unfair and it really pisses me off. What I'd propose for the distribution model is not placing a daily limit but making things go harder as time passes by. I have spent more than 150M into Bleutrade trying to pump and distribute GCN there. I have also spend some of my own mBTCs to do so. But with a distribution model that it's unfair (whether it's hacking or bad programming), this coin will have no future.

So, to sum it up, I'd say the best thing to do is to narrow down the daily gains just like you did on the webslots. For now, 1.5M each per day is more than OK. Sure, it's going to be hard for some chaps like me that had it 10M per day gains, but it would be fairer for all the others and I can definitely live with that.

Cheers.

Hi Macsga,

I think the best option is to hold off on spending any large amount time playing until the issues are resolved. I think for the moment maybe if G2,000,000 is won I would wait until the next day to play. The re-set of the slots balance was not intentional. There are a lot of people working on the issue. Once it's resolved I'll let you know. I think it's a good thing the issue arose now while the value of GCoin is low. It's the nature of the
beast I guess Smiley

best
Greg

That means that I'll be able to withdraw every 24h 2M and the games will be still accessible even if I don't update to the latest android app? If it is that way, then it's fine by me. In any case when you have solved the resetting problem please post it so that we can update to the bug-free version.

Thanks

i do agree, no one wants to lose their earned coins, its not fair

EDIT: Also another issue, i cashed from slots few hours ago and also yesterday and before so its 3 times, but in my wallet i only have 1 cashout from 28th
Into the "Manage your wallet" ->press Menu button on your tablet, then "Settings" and choose "reset blockchain". This will forcefully re-download all blocks from the beginning and will include the "lost" transaction.

Hope that helps.
I just tried that but it seems its not reseting
Open "manage your wallet" -> Menu button ->Block Explorer and monitor date transactions. It may be a problem of connectivity if you don't see things moving there.

Greg, since I've lost >50M last time I have managed to produce another 61M on a tablet of mine and another 49M on a second one. Sad thing is that I need 1 month to cash out on these limits (2M per day). I can only suggest that you leave the ability to the current "old" versions to cash out up to a certain date (up to a month or more?) in order for the people to be able to collect their coins.

Believe me I can understand your security concerns and your work is much appreciated, BUT the current 24h limit and "force update" policy you introduced with the previous update (the games were unplayable up until your app was updated) caused a lot of lost GCNs which people managed to gain through the lottery games. This caused unfairness feelings to all of us and you must prevent it from happening again.

I don't think that "give me your GCN" address will work out either, since only in this forum I can name people that have more than 100M in their temporary wallets. Fair treatment to players (yes even with macros) is the way to work this hacking thing out and this is NOT the way to do it. I'm talking for myself now, but if I lose my GCNs again through the same "force update for security reasons" I will probably never mess with this coin again.

I know that all the above may have made you unhappy, but it's the truth and you ought to accept my outspokenness; since I really want this coin to succeed.

My best regards,
Macsga.
