2381  Economy / Gambling / Re: How do you know how to trust online sportsbooks? on: June 22, 2022, 10:07:37 AM
Hi! I am relatively new in this field, but I have already managed to form my own opinion. A review of a bookmaker is always subjective because it reflects the personal opinion and experience of a particular player. That is why different players will leave both positive and negative reviews about the same bookmaker. And they can all be honest at the same time. You need to carefully collect reviews on the Internet and try to understand whether they cause you to be wary.

You have said it all, we all have level of tolerance. What I can manage may be a trash to another person and so do gambling centers. Ttust stretches to different areas, it could be level of KYC, it could be bonuses, withdrawal and many more, if I'm not satisfied with any of them, I will back out my money and earnings. There are some casinos that may not  give others headache but coincidence could happen that you may have issues with them.
Sometimes here, whenever a newbie bring a scam accusations against a casino that have been proven otherwise, a careful investigations is done to make sure that the truth comes out because a casino is not scam doesn't mean they are not capable of doing so. Anything that involves money changes people, it takes wisdom and less greed to overcome it.
2382  Economy / Gambling / Re: Casino Game on: June 21, 2022, 09:34:17 PM
Everyone treats gambling the same way, that is to gamble for fun and also make money in the process. But there are some gamblers who think that they can survive only by playing gambling, which is a wrong prospective. In order for you to survive, you need a more consistent source of income and you just cannot depend on gambling which is only luck based.

If you know how possessed and determined some people take gambling, you will disagree that it is not all that take it for fun, they take it for survival and this always due to lack of job opportunities, employment and frustration. Gambling winings sometimes follow luck in other to hammer a jackpot, there is this mentality that some people use for determination, the only thing that rings in their is how to win that money and sady they will keep losing. Do you know the fun part of it, even if they luckily win that jackpot, they don't use it well and wouldn't even eat good food.
2383  Economy / Gambling / Re: risk of kyc on crypto casinos ? on: June 21, 2022, 09:12:22 PM
When casinos pay out jackpots or huge prizes, arent they obliged to give such information to tax authorities? Sure they need to point such winning in their own declaration, otherwise they would have to pay huge income tax. Without information about the winner, the chain of information wont be full. That is why, if you aim to get rich via gambling, get ready to lose anonymity. Or risk gambling in partly white, partly shady casinos.

I don't know what you mean by huge but I think there should be a limit for non-kyc accounts instead of asking for papers that you will submit and still reject it, so that you wouldn't be able to withdraw the winnings, using exchanges for example that doesn't require KYC usually limit withdrawal limit of 100 BTC within 24hours and after that, you have another reset time to redraw more continuously. If exchanges can do that, why wouldn't casinos do the same or is it because gambling is subjected to luck and excess winnings? exchanges have turned ordinary $100 to thousands and don't request for additional documents when customers feel to withdraw their money.
2384  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: BTC address generated in ETH-way (keccak) - spendable? on: June 21, 2022, 12:58:02 PM
keccak256 is having an output of 256 bits or 32 bytes hexadecimal, so wouldn't that make a difference of 10 bytes, if otherwise do correct me.
Keccak256 digest is 256 bit but the ethereum addresses are truncating it to get a smaller 20-byte hash discarding the remaining 12 bytes.

It wouldn't be possible with that kind of assumption and to use it on scriptpubkey, definitely nodes will reject such kind of transactions since they do not align on bitcoin protocol level.
If by "protocol" you mean the consensus rules, it does not even look at your outputs, they can contain arbitrary script that is not even valid. But if by protocol you mean the standard rule, it is rejected since we don't have the OP not because of the size since we have similar outputs that contain 256-bit data like P2WSH.

Oops, sorry for the simple math up there, it's 12 bytes actually but glad you cleared it up.
2385  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: BTC address generated in ETH-way (keccak) - spendable? on: June 21, 2022, 12:07:35 PM
but I assume there is no way to create a transaction if it was not a op_hash160, right?
It doesn't have to be OP_HASH160 but it has to be an existing OP like OP_HASH256. Since we don't have OP_KECCAK then it is not possible to spend the output that uses a keccak hash of the public key under normal circumstances (ie. no collision!).

I agree with this and I think no nodes will validate such a transaction nor relay it to any other nodes.
Op_hash160 is 20 bytes while keccak256 is having an output of 256 bits or 32 bytes hexadecimal, so wouldn't that make a difference of 10 bytes, if otherwise do correct me.
It wouldn't be possible with that kind of assumption and to use it on scriptpubkey, definitely nodes will reject such kind of transactions since they do not align on bitcoin protocol level.
2386  Other / Meta / Re: No, the forum server did not go down. on: June 21, 2022, 08:24:08 AM
Not just bitcointalk, it happens that almost all centralized exchanges were down including marketcaps with internal server error.
The affected platforms include Coingecko, Kucoin, Hotbit, Coin marketcap, coinbase,Discord and many more but all good now.

2389  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Looking to buy my first hardware wallet on: June 20, 2022, 06:32:43 AM
but if someone stole the Trezor from you, the person can be able to get hold of your seed phrase which can be used to steal your coins, but if you use passphrase along with seedphrase while generating keys and addresses, different keys and addresses will be generated entirely.

I'm afraid this is not true but it is open to corrections!
You are actually wrong. Trezor do not have secure element and because of that, it makes such attack easily possible. But the use of passphrase would be helpful to avoid the attack as explained above.

well, I'm not far from the truth, this is one of the implications of being an open source, they let down their security. I watched the video and some line of python codes was used to jailbreak the password which makes it easy to penetrate into the device after removing a part of the cheap board.
This happen in 2020 and I'm seeing it for the first time and others using it as hardware will see the demerit of using Trezor without the seed extension, most members don't know these because if they do, they wouldn't be recommending Trezor without strict warning of the passphrase as most do advise sometimes.

When Trezor wallet gets stolen, for any bad actor to get in, it will require the Pin for Trezor wallet because it will be locked and encrypted, it can only be possible if the person knows the Pin to the Trezor wallet before they can spend from it, the person needs to do 10,00 combination of password to get the right one since Trezor uses 4 digits as a pin.

However, It is always recommended to back up the seed phrase in a secure place but if you misplaced the seed phrase or stolen and during the generation of the seed phrase, you add a seed extension or passphrase, it will be difficult for the person to get into your wallet because the seed phrase will produce a different thing.
2391  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is BTC Segwit address? on: June 19, 2022, 06:16:58 PM
In addition to what others have said, don't generate seed phrase on Electrum if you plan on using it on another wallet, may be not today or tomorrow because the the seed words isn't BIP39 compatible standard for other wallet. Electrum wallet support BIP39 seed phrase, meaning you can always used any seed phrase on Electrum wallet to generate addresses but you can't use their own mnemonic words for other wallets.
2392  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin address gap limit on: June 18, 2022, 07:00:53 PM
Most on-chain wallet software has a gap limit of 20, so when your wallet scans the blockchain after address 201 with an addition of 20 wallet addresses(up to 222), it will stop searching at 223 when it found nothing on the address. You have no problems displaying your previously used addresses.

No. But it may be a problem identifying each payment (the labels in your wallet won't be restored) and your privacy (each one of the 200 people who paid you can now see the 199 other payments that belong to you).

Maybe the user has forgone privacy to reduce future transaction fees by payment batching and utxo consolidation.
2393  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Minor Protection From Gambling on: June 18, 2022, 03:00:37 PM
Although the step to restrict minor gamblers is good but still they have lot of ways to submit fake identity and keep playing but as we have seen gambling is too risky and can lead to some other issues which is bad for teenagers as they develop more problems at young age. There should be certain more strict implications to stop them from gambling and avoid problems in their personal life.

The internet is a scary place, you wouldn't know until you know the intensity of the impact it can do on minors, that's why it is advisable not to allow them to use the internet except when they have a college assignment. You have seen that KYC is sometimes requested from casino but this is very cheap to buy from anyone, there are plenty of ways people buy KYC online to bye-pass any restriction, the agency really have a big job to do because I feel that a child that is below 18+ will gamble anytime they like, only with parents this fight can be successfull.
2394  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: June 18, 2022, 02:50:13 PM
I really like the Premier League in terms of having many skilled players that we can see even at one of the bad-placed teams in the league standings. Leeds are a really good example for this. As you might have heard already, Manchester City are are seriously interested in Kalvin Phillips. They are trying to sign him these days. Barcelona also have been interested in Raphinha.

Manchester City is really trying to be well prepared for next season to get Kalvin Philips to come to protect their mid-field but there have been red flags from different sources and warnings not proceeded that Guardiola will use him to sit on the bench throughout the season, he should rather embrace new club that will need him on the field anytime they have a match to play. I thought Liverpool was interested in Raphinha, is Barcelona trying to close the deal before them. By the way, why has Chelsea not made any effort to buy any player so far, I hope they don't have any recent unsettle differences.
2395  Economy / Gambling / Re: Online casino. What's the reliability of the technology? on: June 18, 2022, 02:24:38 PM
You can trust the casino license.

The casino does not need to cheat on slot games. If the gambler loses too quickly without ever winning, he will not play the slot again. Smiley
If you don't have a huge balance, you don't have to worry about cheating.

You have made an important point, Casino license gives confidence that no regulators will come after them but how can you verify this licence that is always displayed on their footer page, is the licence number verifiable when you search them on national business data where all business are been registered, I feel you can't trust until you verify.

what if the casino makes you win to boost your confidence in order to increase the multiplier and then you lose when you wager all your total balance. I think when a casino is very fair in all their games, they will win the heart, the soul and money of all gamblers because they will always come back.
2396  Economy / Gambling / Re: around 1.6 billion people worldwide gamble, What about a poker gamefi?? on: June 18, 2022, 02:15:08 PM
It's good to have other option since Gamblers don't want to think that much most of the time and Poker requires a lot of attention for you to win but having a focused on development is still a good idea. There's a lot of gamblers already adopting crypto gambling, this could be a good opportunity for GameFi, It's just that it needs focus and of course a good marketing strategy so ordinary gamblers will also try this one.

I don't know that poker is loved like this in online casinos, but I believe it is a regional game, unlike my side where people mostly wager on sports games for pleasure because many don't want to go through the stress of learning games and new techniques to win them just to make some cash. The number of sportsbooks that dominate here has more than tripled compared to prior years. Though restrictions played a role in this shift, I remember how police raided gambling locations back then, things have changed now.
2397  Economy / Gambling / Re: What is a game you would like to see in an online crypto casino? on: June 18, 2022, 06:48:14 AM
It would be cool if we added the ability to play games with other players. Board role-playing games like Mafia or Spy come to my mind. Making money playing favorite games would be great!

I really don't think you can play Mafia or spy on an online casino because there are things that you need to put into considerations
(1) The cost of running a server for that kind of heavy graphics game will be huge for the house, if the Casino is willing to pay big money for running and maintenance, will you be ready to wager a big amount to play.
(2) If the games are high dedicated graphics, will you be ready to pay to subscribe for a large amount of internet bundle, you will likely spend more to play these kinds of games in Casino.

Lets PS5 and Xbox handle this, you can invite your friends over or play multiplayer when connected over the internet.

2399  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Less FOMO more Buying on: June 17, 2022, 10:25:00 PM
At this time only those who are dedicated or been in Bitcoin will be happy at the price drop of crypto since its their time to accumulate more BTC and wait when the price already arise, when it comes to Newbies it will be hard to predict on what price they will enter since we all not guarantee whether it will drop more in price. Hence, we should set our mind if we were going to buy now and willing to wait even the price drops.

There are some people who missed out the last bull run and they regret making that mistake, I have friends who were so happy with this price drop and they are buying bit by bit as the market continues to go down, some of them have never been in this environment before but seeing how bitcoin performed from 2020 to 2021, they don't want to miss that kind of opportunity again because they are business guys who are doing well and have some cash in banks that have not yield them anything, they prefer to live it here with small correction than for banks to be using their money for lending and in return with little to no savings interested rate.
2400  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Teaching college students about Bitcoin on: June 17, 2022, 10:16:13 PM
Teaching college students is one thing, but teaching older people would be even more beneficial, like classes on youtube and other course material websites are a lot more valuable. Because, someone who is 18 years old could care about it and listen and learn, but majority of college students do not really listen and learn these things. They end up just going to college for fun and they end up not doing anything regarding studying all that much.

This means that if they end up with something profitable for them, then they could end up with a big deal in the long run after a while. So just focus on people who are 30+ years old, who will actually listen and care.

There is nothing wrong if you teach older people about bitcoin but it will be very hard to convince them to start because they are brought up to understand the financial burden of government, even if you manage to Persuade them to invest, they wouldn't vibe it like the younger generation, the young ones are way more inquisitive to learning and smart.
They say the young ones are the leaders tomorrow, let them be the leaders of Bitcoin, let them embrace bitcoin now and grow to it, by the time they becomes use to it, they wouldn't rush to the banks like our parents did back over years till now.
