2381  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cheat the Lottery Winner on: January 24, 2023, 08:32:34 AM
If I should go by any means of anonymity then I would rather adopt the pattern used by some man that won a lottery last year 2022, where he got to wear a costume that veiled his face so to make sure even his family people and the public don't get to know about the lottery he had won.
This i would say is the best form of safe anonymity instead of using someone else to stand for you  when it comes to matter of money humans are unpredictable, not even family member can be trusted.
2382  Economy / Economics / Re: Power outages causes huge economic loss in south Africa. on: January 23, 2023, 10:00:06 PM
Lack of steady uninterrupted power supply is like a pandemic diseases that's been suffered by all African countries and non is excused of this situation, it's so embarrassing that even in this contemporary time African leaders still see power supply as challenge to be used as part of election manifesto in every election year, still the situation remains the same.
As a businessman it's best you own a power generating set for your business especially when the survival of your business depends on power for it to keep running. For me I'll advise the farmer to rather use the more he would spend in pressing charges and hiring of attorney to purchasing a power generating set so to avoid a reoccurrence of the situation. These electricity distribution companies are just a pain in the neck.
2383  Other / Beginners & Help / A crypto fixed-deposit wallet. on: January 23, 2023, 02:50:01 PM
We have heard of deposit bank account (fixed account) where customer's deposit in their fiat currency only to be able to withdraw or have access to it at the agreed terminated timeframe with the bank. One of the propelling motive behind this is to help the individual keep save a certain sum he/she wish to use for some project in the future without being able to distort or use the  asset for some other issues that may arise that it wasn't meant for.

I don't know if  such is also applied to cryptocurrency too, but just in case there's non yet, then I'll love to see developers develop a crypto-wallet that specifically function as a wallet for fixed deposits of assets. Or perhaps it could be added as a feature to the already existing crypto wallets be it custodial or non-custodial wallets.
Some benefits I presume crypto users to get from this are:
✓ It will help crypto users manage and execute their assets meant actually for the specific purposes without falling to distraction.
✓ It guarantees a sure savings for the future ( as an owner can only have access to assets at agreed terminated date).
✓  For those that lacks the discipline to keep savings, it's going to give them opportunity to start having savings. Etc.

I am convinced that there are other numerous benefits which I can't catch up right now, so may s feel free to drop other benefits that comes into mind. Furthermore, what do you guys think about this?

2384  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading is risky, be conscious on: January 23, 2023, 09:41:25 AM
Over the time, I've seen people wanting to go into trading because they feel or think is a get rich quick scheme but get so disappointed along the process because the result they get isn't what was expected.
Crypto trading just like every other conventional trades demands lots of patience and determination to learn on the outcome of your trades and also through the experience of others, with a touch of DYOR.  No business pours out overwhelming profits immediately except it's an illegal business, even illicit drug business takes time irrespective of it been illegal.
I think it's the facades picture painted out there about cryptocurrency that makes newbies conceives into mind that it's a route to get rich quick business. We need to do more to always remind them that it's not so when telling them about crypto.
2385  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How does one start on crypto? on: January 23, 2023, 06:16:41 AM
I believe that the main thing is not to buy "blindly". This really threatens with losses, and not small ones!
Yes, that's right and I agree.

It is a fact that there are those that are doing it on their own and investing blindly because they don't have someone to ask. In the long run, they learn from their own experiences and they later on learn how to research.
Its a very much of a fact mate, I vividly remember at around 2020 when I first got interested into crypto with the mindset of making some extra stipends I had to blindly got involved into series of promising online platforms where I invested in good amount of money to acquire a supposed mining machine that will be giving me a ROI for speculated number of weeks... Long story short, it were all a virtual scam. Like those experiences are now like a wall of carefulness to me as I always have to do my own research on anything introduced to me online that's crypto related before thinking of getting into it.

2387  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Wallet Selling on: January 22, 2023, 09:25:18 PM
If I understand very well, OP do you know this is just another way of aiding and supporting or should I say assisting some persons on tax invasion which is criminal offence in any civilized society. You might feel you're only trying to doing business but it's rather a fraudulent activity you're invariably embarking on.
Also, for anyone that would want to purchase an already used wallet by another person is taking a stupid risk of losing any penny you might wanna put into such wallet after buying it and claiming ownership. As the ownership is now a dual one and prone to scam activity from the selling end.
One thing I have learnt in my few time in this crypto industry is that, trying to cut corners only gets you incur more unimaginable losses.
2388  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: January 22, 2023, 09:02:09 PM
Arsenal appeared so aggressive from the early minutes, but Marcus Rashford's goal made the game a little even, it didn't take long for Arsenal to equalize through Edward Nketiah. The match was running quite fierce for the two teams, Arsenal relied on Xaka's speed while Manchester United had Marcus Rashford, until the first half ended there were no additional goals created for the two teams.

It must be admitted that Arsenal's game was much better than Manchester United, Edward Nketiah was the hero of Arsenal's victory in that match, he scored a crucial goal in the 90th minute for Arsenal's victory, even though the referee had seen VAR, but in the end the goal was a complement to Arsenal's victory.
Arsenal's 3-2 win in the match against Manchester United brought them back to a 5-point lead over Manchester City after only 2 points remaining following Manchester City's win against Wolves. The match was very tense because both teams scored goals and the score lasted until the 90th minute. Unfortunately, Manchester United failed to steal point at home of Arsenal because Eddie Nketiah scored the winning goal as well as his second goal in the match.

This was an important win for Arsenal to keep them safe distance from Manchester City. While Arsenal have 5 point lead over the current champions, Arsenal have 1 match left which will most likely put them 8 points ahead.

The match was really tense, in addition Arsenal played catch-up soccer and only at the end was able to pull out the victory. Nevertheless, I would not call the gap of 5 points a safe distance from Manchester City, the winning streak of Arsenal at any time can stop and then it would be really dangerous to have even a 5-point gap
How laughable for you to say the winning streak, mate it's not just a winning streak, let's be frank Arsenal are on massive form this season, and the players are playing team football that puts no stress on anyone. Currently Manchester City are having a rough time and before they could pull themselves together Arsenal must have gone way beyond just 5 points ahead of them which is possible going by the momentum of  players. The only thing that can slow down Arsenal pace to more points is injuries to their players apart from that it's still dicey if City can strip the gunners off from the top one position at the moment
2389  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Risk of jail for developers. Should you be anonymous? on: January 22, 2023, 01:59:28 PM
I was looking at Christine Lagarde's latest remarks on CBDC's and it seems pretty clear to me that the agenda of banning cash and then replacing the euro with the "digital euro" is now unstoppable, which will for sure make the Bitcoin price go up. However, it basically means that if you are supporting BTC, you would be developing a tool that "enables money laundering, terrorism, etc" and challenges the CBDC monopoly.

How realistic is it that public figures would be facing charges in the future? As a developer, should you remain anonymous? At the end of the day satoshi knew he was going against the status quo and managed to stay safe, however, what about all these doxed developers? I can see how they'll look on github and try to hunt contributors. We are facing a scary future. It's better to say steps ahead and plan accordingly. Someone with resources probably could move jurisdictions before it's too late but what about the rest. And even if you could move you could see yourself in an Assange situation trapped in some embassy. I would like to know if developers here think about this at all and what is your escape route if shit hits the fan.

Before any government could parade you then you must have done something that's incriminating and this case it's simple that the developers ain't doing anything that goes against or is inimical to the next neighbor.   For example; would the government go on to press charges or arraign a cooperate organization that's producing guns all because someone on the street use(bought) a gun developed by the company to murder somebody. I don't think so! So the issue of money laundering and terrorism is far fetched to be a problem from developers corner but rather a choice of users.
So I don't see reasons why crypto developers should hide for anonymity except the CBDC are nurturing an ulterior different from what you're making, perhaps to get ride of competition totally from the market.
2390  Economy / Speculation / BTC rise described as false bull on: January 22, 2023, 01:22:13 PM
The gradual rise in the price of bitcoin as we started experiencing this January 2023 from around 17k to now 23k (as at when this thread was made), is been described by some traders as a false bull which everyone should be careful about, but then, I wonder how something we all have been expecting while approaching the year 2023 is now coming into play, yet some persons still feel it's a false bull, while some others are pulling in more money due to the bull signs of this January.  What do we think about this as a community here?

As for me, I believe profit in business comes with risk taking(calculative risk) whether long or short, all anyone should always hold to heart is don't risk more than you are ready to let go in the case of loss.
2391  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you want to be great? Then be ready to learn. on: January 21, 2023, 10:00:13 PM
Learning starts from ones willingness to know a thing or about a thing or subject. Unlike many decades ago, today we have the internet at the palm of our hands with just a click away you school yourself of things you had no knowledge of.
I wonder why people rush to discard what they have no idea of , hurriedly referring it to something which is not but wh n you learn to do research about a thing it helps your sense of judgement and reason and open your mind to knowledge that could change your life to greatness of opportunities just like bitcoin.
2392  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: The fuel crisis issue in Nigeria and what I found out. on: January 21, 2023, 03:06:01 PM
I'll continuously ask this same questions:
✓ what are the use of the government owned refineries that we have laying waste, getting dilapidated by each day with no government intentions of revamping them but rather stuck their guns on refining our crude oil outside the country?
✓ Is it that there are underlying factor's holding each administration that comes into power from making use of our refineries in Nigeria or are these foreign refineries owned by those in government in disguise?
✓ Is it not same crude oil we have that other countries such as Saudi also do have and are using it to gainfully develop their country and improve lives of the citizenries or it's ours a curse one?
like where did we really go wrong as a people!!

Going by the situation, this is election period and the so-called incumbent party in government are still campaigning for us to vote for them. Like on what ground should we vote for them, if we can't have access to fuel at affordable pump price now is it when they come back for another four or eight year again that we will. Like this is insane, ridiculous and inconsiderate on the part of the incumbent government of which they don't deserve our vote this time.
2393  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: January 21, 2023, 02:51:11 PM
A very fair result for Liverpool and Chelsea in their game. The reason is that the two teams have the same erratic appearance, also the two teams in this match are both very difficult to create an opportunity. They are still level on points now, with Liverpool ahead by a game in hand. They haven't shown a change, so to talk about them going into the top 4 in my opinion now is not the right time, because they have to improve their game first.
It's better to cast mind away from thinking that either Chelsea nor Liverpool will be able to find their way into top four this season, there's nothing to show that there is an improving on the way. Imagine the form of Arsenal, Newcastle, Manchester United and Manchester City as teams that are currently on the top four position on the table, do they look like teams that would be losing form anytime soon? I don't think so!

The only room for succour to Chelsea and Liverpool this season is the Europa league hopefully, cause the UCL is a no way route as it stands. My personal opinion though!
2394  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why will Bitcoin have value? on: January 20, 2023, 09:56:38 PM
Bitcoin's Utility & Growing Globally Adoption
Bitcoin's value is maintained as it is exchangeable with various products and day by day various circles, famous people, institutions, countries are recognizing Bitcoin around the world.  Moreover, various business organizations are accepting Bitcoin as a payment system for their business.  Because Bitcoin is such a global revolution, its value will always remain.
The global reception that bitcoin had about ten years ago can't be quantified with what it is today and that a milestone progress for the crypto coin, and it's a way to show to everyone that it's value is something that's utility bond and as such the tendency for more and more adoption is possible. Just recently as I heard some rumors that  the Polish government gave binance a licence to operate within it's domain, yes despite it's a centralized exchange it indirectly going to boost the usage of bitcoin in that country which is something.
2395  Economy / Gambling discussion / Basra Stadium Stampede (football match). on: January 20, 2023, 06:38:32 PM
There was a stampede at the Basra stadium just before the kick-off time, and this stampede happened as the football match fans matched up their way to the Basra international stadium for the match between Iraq and Oman. According to the Iraqi football association 4 Iraqis dead, 20 suffocated cases and about 80 injured during the stampede which the match organisers allegedly blamed ticketless fans for the stampede as they tried to scale through several possible loopholes and avenue to have access into the stadium.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.aljazeera.com/amp/sports/2023/1/20/stampede-mars-iraqs-3-2-victory-over-oman-in-gulf-cup
I understand this to be a sad moment for the Iraqi people as many lives of family members have been loss due to this unfortunate incident which would have been possibly avoided given the antecedent of situation outside the stadium early before the stampede took place.
In recent years there has been cases of stampedes in events such as this in different parts of the world. And my position here is, who's to be blamed in such situation just like this one at Basra stadium, Iraq. Is the fault from the side of the football fans or is due to poor organisation from the side of the organisers?
Can we also recommend possible ways with which such cases can be arrested or adverted in the future.
2396  Economy / Economics / Re: Another Boom for the crypto market. on: January 20, 2023, 12:20:51 PM
A lot of policy compliance must have gone underground for such acceptance by the Polish government for binance to operate in their territory but it's all good looking at it on the brighter side as it will encourage more polish citizens to get involved in crypto boosting a wider acceptance and usage, and know for themselves the advantageous differences between centralized exchanges and decentralized.

Even though binance is a centralized exchange, taken that away from them I can boldly applaud them for taking crypto to places and spreading the awareness.
2397  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: One of the things that make people to make good content in posting on: January 20, 2023, 10:10:23 AM
I don't know maybe it's me that's not getting your point straight or the collocation of your grammars here but every merit you received must have complied to this posting etiquettes https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5184741.0#post_altgiveaway and receiving merit is at will, if you're hunting for merits obviously you may not get because you're not giving the expected result to qualify for receiving it, post quality is judge by the recipient we feels he got touched and imformed by what you have posted and this does not need to be a whole full page, with merit or not people will make good post with a desiring content while some will not.

To an extwnt you're very much correct in addition to the criteria put down by the link of the thread in your comment.  But I'll like to remind you that there are certain posts that do got merit's (in rare cases) out of the discretion of the reader and not because it posseses all the quality you or another person might feel that such post must posses to earn merit.

In other words, what am saying is that, some times readers discretion plays a role in meriting a post.  Don't you think so?
2398  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Advice on choosing a crypto casino on: January 19, 2023, 09:36:48 PM
OP it's as simple as ABC, check in the gambling board there are lots of casinos to choose from. Check their cryptocurrency for use, although almost all the casino's in this forum uses bitcoin.
One thing I can tell you is that in your quest to get a casino you would be gambling with make sure not to settle for the less, engage with one that meets your expectations and interest. Gambling should be fun, interesting and profitable too
2399  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Saudi Professional League 2022/2023 on: January 19, 2023, 12:22:54 PM
@Sithara007 Saudi Arabia is keen to host the 2030 World Cup, and that’s why they targeted Ronaldo because they knew that his signing would bring almost every soccer fan’s attention to their league and that would boost their chances of hosting the 2030 World Cup. Also Eden Hazard is the latest player being linked to joining the Saudi league, and if he too signs then he’ll play with Ronaldo which will further improve the optics for the league.
The question is whether FIFA wants another world cup in the middle east or not. Many of the fans were not happy with the restrictions imposed during Qatar 2022, but in the end a lot of people were awestruck by the hundreds of billions of USD splashed by the Qataris to prepare for the tournament. In the end, it's money that talks.

Even though it sound so true that it's those with the deep pocket that has the upper hand in hosting looking at how football is now business for many and not just about entertainment and fun. But that been said, the interest of the football fans should be taken into consideration more like priority, cause as a football lover I can go spend my hard earned money in an area with so much ridiculous restrictions to me having fun and catching cruise just like other world cup tournaments that have been held in other countries around the world.
2400  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: i am a housewife want to invest in bitcoin on: January 19, 2023, 11:07:41 AM
hello everyone,, I am a housewife who wants to join this forum and ask for your help, so that you can guide and advise me, especially in terms of investing in bitcoin.

as I said above that I am a housewife. and I plan to invest in bitcoin.
and I want to invest in bitcoin using the money in my piggy bank, because if I have money left over from shopping that my husband gives me, I always put it in my piggy bank.

but what makes me want to invest in bitcoin is because,, if you put it in a piggy bank for a long time I think it will be affected by inflation.
so in my opinion if my invest in bitcoin, of course it will have good potential for the future. but I will ask everyone,

is it too late to invest in bitcoin?
because I saw on the internet that bitcoin is currently experiencing an increase.

and whether my decision is right or not, to invest in bitcoin?

please guide for all the friends in this forum?
Like you said your piggy bank might be affected by inflation, you should also be aware that bitcoin is also affected with volatility, so if you want to invest as a house wife make sure to be ready to make your investment a long term one, as BTC market price can be static for long time and anyone without a long term plan when investing would perhaps loss hope and patience and withdraw at loss.

It's not late talk more of too late to invest in bitcoin, but that depends on your investment plans . Is it for a long term?
