I opened this and a similar ticket with two of my favorite companies:

To whom it may concern,

I'd like to give you a heads-up about something relatively new you might want to look into in the area of online processing of money.

It's a new thing that was recently invented. It's kind of like a digital commodity currency people trade online called Bitcoin. The cool thing about it it isn't owned by anyone. It's an open source projects that a bunch of programmers developed completely openly for everyone to see how it works but because of it's ingenious design it's still very secure and very private to use.

Main advantages:
- much lower fees
- accessible from anywhere in the world
- no chargebacks possible
- no need to give out your ID info to be able to use it, therefor no ID theft possible
- no one can stop your transactions or prevent you from making a new one, no one can freeze your money
- protected by military grade encryption and relying on the laws of math making it practically impossible to counterfeit

Practically it behaves much like cash on the street but on the internet and it's completely legal too.

The main part: people actually use this method and value bitcoins at about $5 a pop right now.. so I really wanted to share this with you.

Today there are several online exchanges where one can buy them and it's pretty easy to get or sell some. Here are a few links if you'd like to find out more:

www.bitcoin.org - official site
en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Main_Page - official wiki page
www.weusecoins.com - independent introduction site

www.mtgox.com - independent online exchange
www.cryptoxchange.com - independent online exchange
www.intersango.com - independent online exchange

www.bitinstant.com - independent instant funds transfers
www.bit-pay.com - independent IMO leading payment processor ( probably most interesting to you )

I'm not part of the project or any of the companies I linked nor am I an expert in how it works, I'm just an enthusiast who follows it regularly. Even so I would be more than happy to help you find answers to any questions you may have.

Kind regards,

Both tickets got answered one directing me to forward the info to their official company email which I doubt got anywhere where as in the other I got told it was forwarded to the higher ups. Haven't seen the payment option adopted yet but these are pretty big companies and I doubt they'd be willing to take the perceived risk.

I think it's only fitting to post this piece on the 5th most visited libertarian website, right?   Cool

http://www.dailypaul.com/226936/if-the-government-hates-it-dont-you-think-you-should-at-least-consider-learning-about-it

Man there's still so many close minded die hard precious metals almost religious fanatic like advocates among libertarians completely opposed to what the free market came up with and even to just the idea that such a thing as an artificial and yet sound currency could exist.

But I do notice a lot more people open and supportive to the idea. I just don't understand how libertarians of all people can be so damn close minded that they aren't even willing to spend some time and learn about it in detail before they dismiss it. Human nature sucks.  Undecided

Simple: use the search on that website and look up the bitcoin address you sent your bitcoins to.

The article said they offered PayPal and Western Union! What kind of online black market DOES that? How could one possibly expect to remain anonymous?

And why does anyone still expect privacy from Hushmail? The infamous Hushmail Report (PDF) was published nearly 5 years ago. You'd think people would have gotten the message by now...

The only people expecting that are those who saw the word encryption on hushmail's website and never read on past it. If you actually read what hushmail says they openly and clearly state that your email account is encrypted any they can't access what's inside but they are able to intercept your emails when they are sent from or delivered to your account. The only way to protect against that is to use pgp encryption.
2388  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Bypass the exchanges w/ BitInstant Pay-to-Email feature on: April 16, 2012, 02:53:52 PM
This is actually awesome news since it removes the need to ID yourself in order to convert your fiat to BTC.

Two thumbs up from me!  Cool

I thought this newly posted video was quite interesting and also something a lot of people around here are concerned about so I wanted to share:

What's beyond silicon? There have been a number of proposals: protein computers, DNA computers, optical computers, quantum computers, molecular computers. Dr. Michio Kaku says "if I were to put money on the table I would say that in the next ten years as Moore's Law slows down, we will tweak it."

Awesome stuff. Your FAQ answered almost every question I had but one: How does the email message with the coins and instructions look like?

https://i.imgur.com/PD4WS.png < if you're quick, you can even recover the coins Wink

Ok... but I'm interested in the whole process. Please show us everything, from start to finish, how it looks if I send someone a coinapult message with coins, what message they receive and what process they have to go through to get the coins and how the instructions look like guiding them, I would like to know the details of every step it takes to complete the process.

I love the line quoted, it just shows how completely ignorant they are of what Bitcoin is and what it will likely mean for their bottom line.
2396  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MintChip mentioned on theblaze.com on: April 13, 2012, 01:20:59 AM
I only looked through those mentioning Bitcoin of which I didn't think that many were negative or clueless and I also refuted a few negative ones.

Yeah thank goodness you posted there, thanks Hazek Wink
