2381  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Another reason and proof to keep funds in your wallet not in an exchange on: September 14, 2023, 06:24:25 PM
That's a shocking news and we have heard such shocking news many times before but still some people really don't understand the importance of having their own personal wallets instead of relying on those centralized exchanges custodial wallets.

The hackers always try to find a flaw in exchanges and whenever they successfully get one the hack most of the coins from the vulnerable exchanges. Sometimes exchanges just made up a story of such hacks and steal coins of the users themselves. That's why it's always better to store your coins in your own software wallets like Electrum, and make those wallets cold ones by disconnecting them from internet.
2382  Economy / Goods / Re: bitcoin on: September 14, 2023, 05:59:50 PM
its time for another pizza day but reversal this time, lm selling 2 papa John's pizza for 1 Bitcoin. BTC

You're trying to be smart but no one is stupid enough to buy 2 Papa John's Pizzas for 1 BTCitcoin. I would recommend you to try your luck somewhere else because on this forum users aren't naive enough to purchase 2 pizzas for a Bitcoin because with a single Bitcoin we can buy so many of those pizzas.
2383  Other / Meta / Re: can we use live signatures on this forum. on: September 14, 2023, 05:49:39 PM
I think signatures are good in their current state and adding any animation would make them annoying for everyone. I have seen live avatars on some users profiles but those have been set during the times when the live avatars weren't disabled on the forum and those lucky few have kept their avatars since then because they knew that if they change their avatar even for a single time then they won't be able to get that live avatar again on their profiles.

Like @jayce said that thing is just an html banner and that isn't a live signature and surely he also said that it's disabled on the forum and that means that such kind of banners can't be applied on profiles anymore. The signatures in their current state are pretty eye-catching and the advertisers are happy with those signatures, and that's why I don't think there is any need to have those html banners back on forum.
2384  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: September 14, 2023, 04:02:18 PM
Rain is adding a lot of uncertainty to this match. If it was a normal 50-over match, then Sri Lanka would be easily in a winning position. But the overs have been reduced, and even more interruptions are expected for the remanded of play. Also, I strongly doubt that the frequent interruptions helped Pakistan in a way, by allowing them to regroup and rethink on the strategy. It has been frustrating for the Sri Lankans, who need to get on and off the field very frequently. And now the partnership between Iftikhar Ahmed and Mohammad Rizwan is adding valuable runs for Pakistan and taking them towards a very decent total.
Rain has been a plus point for Pakistan as I can see Pakistan scoring good runs in a very short span of time. Despite the fall of wickets from the beginning, Pakistan showed a very good performance towards the end. Despite the fall of one wicket after another, the duo of Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed has strengthened the Pakistan team. These two players can definitely score some good runs for the Pakistani supporters but they are in massive form at the moment. In this way, if the pair can survive till the last, then the chances of Sri Lanka winning will definitely be less.

Pakistan started their innings very slowly. At the end of 30 overs, their collection was only 138 runs. The team could not collect an average of 5 runs per over. Also they lost 5 wickets in 30 overs. However, due to the responsible batting of Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed, Pakistan collected 252 runs in 42 overs. Rizwan is unbeaten with 86 runs off 73 balls. I would say Pakistan's batting was good enough. A collection of 242 runs on this pitch is enough to win. If Pakistan's luck is not too bad then they will have no problem to win this match. But Naseem is not in the squad. Had he been with the squad, Pakistan's bowling line-up would have been stronger.

I was also in doubt that Pakistan team would make 252 runs in a match like that but still they played well and made good runs in the match. I'm sure that if Pakistani bowlers do their best in this match then the victory will be on Pakistan side. Team Sri Lanka will also try their best to cross 252 runs but I'm sure that it will be hard for them to cross the score of 252 runs in 42 overs. Let's see what strategy the team Sri Lanka will follow to win this match against Pakistan.

Do you have any assurity that in long run the the gambler will have profit from the bot? Because I don't think that a bot like that which depends on value betting can be any useful for the gamblers. If you really think that your bot it different and can keep up one's expectations then can you kindly share some successful images of the bets that your bot has made? Why don't you open up your own account on Bet365 and run the bot yourself?

2387  Other / Meta / Re: Is there any code or extension where I can hide the avatar on the top left page? on: September 13, 2023, 09:31:15 PM
Hey, I have created an open source extension based on TryNinja's script that is working perfectly on Chrome browser. The source is completely open and anyone can use it without any issue. I could keep that thing closed source but that would not be helpful for anyone.

Here's the link of the source code of the extension: https://file.io/d9uQUNNZVwg5

In order to install the extension, first you need to unzip the files in a folder and then enable developer mode in the extension, and after that click on Load unpacked and then select the folder of the extension, and it will be automatically installed.

Further if you want to make it from the source code then create a file and name it as contents.js and paste the following code in that file:

Code:
// content.js

try {
  document.getElementById("smfheader").style.display = "none";
  document.getElementById("hellomember").style.display = "none";
  const avatars = document.querySelectorAll(".avatar");
  avatars.forEach((avatar) => {
    avatar.style.display = "none";
  });
} catch (error) {
  console.error("An error occurred:", error);
}

And then you will need to create another file and name it as manifest.json and paste the following code:

Code:
 {
  "manifest_version": 3,
  "name": "Hide BitcoinTalk Username and Avatar",
  "version": "1.0",
  "description": "A Chrome extension to hide BitcoinTalk username and avatar",
  "permissions": [
    "activeTab"
  ],
  "content_scripts": [
    {
      "matches": ["*://bitcointalk.org/*"],
      "js": ["content.js"]
    }
  ],
  "action": {
    "default_popup": "popup.html"
  }
}

Once done save those into a folder and load it using the method mentioned above. I hope this will be helpful for the members of the forum. Remember it's based on TryNinja's script so all the credit goes to him!
2388  Economy / Gambling / Re: Best Cryptocurrency Casino in 2023? Share Your Experience! on: September 13, 2023, 08:58:40 PM

1. Which cryptocurrency casino do you think stands out in 2023, and why?
2. What specific features or attributes make it your preferred choice?
3. Are there any safety or security concerns you've faced or are aware of regarding any particular platform?

Most of the reputable and trustable casinos still stand till this day and the reason for their still getting much attention is that they are really doing the game in the right hand way because if any casino does bad with their players then their reputation gets worse over time and players will stop placing bets in that particular casino. If a casino is doing fair with their players then the players will keep betting on the games which that casino has and that's one of the ways for their success even till this day.

I won't vote for a single casino as my preferred choice because in my eyes there are many such casinos which offer great features and attributes and naming a single one or two won't be a fair thing with all those other casinos that have been doing well.

Yes, the only security concern that I and other players have is the KYC verification because with KYC verification we are actually providing our person details to the casinos which in my eyes is something which isn't good for privacy or ones safety. Other than that I don't really have any concerns with any of the casinos.
2389  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How valuable BTC has become overtime on: September 13, 2023, 08:47:01 PM
Imagine holding the BTC that you used to buy iPhone 4s till the present day and see the number of iPhone 15 you can acquire with it. If you have not started investing in bitcoin, this is the right time to start.

If someone was smart enough to hold that many BTC then that person could buy more than 5225 iPhone 15 in todays date, but there are only few people who really hold more than that amount in Bitcoin and they aren't interested in Apple devices. iPhone is just an example we can compare that rate to many other things and the answer would be similar because the ones who hold their Bitcoin don't really spend them on things like iPhone or anything else.

Only few people knew that Bitcoin could grow so high in value after a decade and that's why creating threads like this doesn't really make much sense to me. But, if someone really invested in Bitcoin even after 2015's then that person would be a millionaire this day if he/she has hold his/her Bitcoin till this day. I agree with the final part of the thread if someone hasn't invested in Bitcoin till this day then that person should start investing in it with further delay.
2390  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How we can sell and store crypto speacialy BTC on: September 13, 2023, 05:25:12 PM
how we can sell and parchase  crypto like BTC etc can we deposit directly into our account because in my country BTC and all others crypto is not acceptable
i her that there are lots of 3rd party platform available for that and also online exchange company corporation

You can buy Bitcoin from this forum but you'll have to be careful when buying Bitcoin because sometimes new members do not know how to buy Bitcoin from trusted members and they get scammed by scammers. If you want to buy Bitcoin from this forum then you must have to find a reputable and trusted members with a Legendary rank at least, and only then you should confirm the deal. I would also recommend you to have an escrow so you will be safe from any possible scammers.

You can also purchase Bitcoin from decentralized as well as centralized exchanges. But, if your country has blocked centralized exchanges then you should consider buying from decentralized exchanges. While it's possible to buy Bitcoin from decentralized exchange but still you should be careful when buying from decentralized exchanges. Still, if you find a good and reputable one then you can purchase from them without any issue. When it comes to centralized exchanges then my experience with Binance has been good so far, but still I won't vouch for anyone. Do your own research and then purchase Bitcoin.

I would also advice you to learn about Bitcoin wallets and when you purchased your Bitcoin then withdraw those to your own personal wallet instead of allowing them on those custodial wallets. You should learn about wallet software like Electrum in detail and once you are sure that you have learnt enough about it then create your wallet with that software and save your Private key and Pass phrase in a secure location.  I would also encourage you to make your wallet a cold wallet because if it is connected to internet then you may face problems from hackers.

2391  Other / Meta / Re: Is there a way to know how many spendable merits are going to expire soon ? on: September 13, 2023, 04:55:38 PM
Is there a way to know how many spendable merits are going to expire soon ?  If not, it should be included in profile if possible.

There is no way to know that how many spendable merits are going to expire because your merits don't expire and you can keep them forever. The merits will stay in your profile if you don't send those to someone else, and if you send someone 2 merits then he/she will get one spendable or sendable merits the other one will not be deposited in his/her sendable merits.

So far no-one merits have been expired and I'm sure that theymos isn't going to add a feature where someone's merits will be expired. Still, I would encourage you to send those sendable merits to deserving posts because keeping those sendable merits won't help you in anyway.
2392  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain Analytics is More of an Art Than Science on: September 13, 2023, 03:33:20 PM
Sometimes they are so concerned about data mining that they forget that innocent people can also face tough times
They don't forget - they simply don't care.

The government don't care in the slightest when banks launder literally trillions of dollars. They get a completely meaningless token fine and that's it. No arrests, no criminal charges, no seizures, no shutdowns, and allowed to continue to launder more money in the future. This is all fine because the banks bribe our politicians and freely hand over all your data to the government when they want it. But when a piece of open source code allows the average person to maintain some semblance of privacy against the government's various mass surveillance programs, then all hell breaks loose and they absolutely must prosecute someone. They don't actually care if the people they prosecute are actually guilty, as long as the set an example to the rest of us that you should be good little citizens and never step out of line. This is not about preventing money laundering in the slightest - if it was, they would clamp down on the banks which do it constantly. It's about surveilling and controlling the populace.

Yes, you're right they simply don't care because they won't be affected if some innocent person's life get destroyed because of someone else's criminal mindset. They have become so cold that only money matters for them and if they get money then everything is okay for them. The governments give free hand to banks and the banks can do whatever they want to do with those trillions of dollars that they launder. The banks have been following those practices for centuries and the politicians have been supporting them. The real culprit in the system are those politicians who sell their souls for the money and they use malpractices to fix all of the written documentation and clear all of the records of the banks that laundered the money. When those records are cleared the banks get courage to do more money laundering activites.

The centralized system is full of corrupt people and when a corrupt person come in power then he/she does everything to fill his/her pockets. I also agree that the ones who go against surveillance activities of the government always face a worst ending. They really don't want that open source code which can fail their surveillance activities because such software can reduce their control over population and anyone who make it can be harmful for them. They will do everything to control the population and they are very successful in their wrong motives. That time isn't far when everyone's life will be controlled by the so called governmental bodies, and the worst thing is that if we even do something to help others to be released form that control then that could be a deadly step for our lives. A laymen isn't anything for them and if a person is not known in social media then they can do whatever they want with that person. I believe that's one of the reasons why Satoshi left the Bitcoin after giving it to public because he knew that if he continue to post on this forum or somewhere else then those governmental authorities will find a way to trace him and could make many charges against him because the created a financial system like Bitcoin.

Well, we really don't know their methods in details and they will never share their research details in public
This and the part where they won't endorse code auditing reminds somewhat of the open-source / closed-source debate around security (AKA, "Security through obscurity"). That certain developers choose to not reveal the source code for security reasons, which is completely debunked, as most of the times cyber attacks don't happen after thorough research on the code, but on techniques that are source-independent. On the other hand, open source code greatly improves security, as it sets no limit as to who can be a contributor.

Very true! The open source code is available to everyone and anyone can improve it if they find flaws in it. On the other hand the organizations that doesn't open their source code will limit it to few people who may not be able to find all flaws of the code and the hackers or the malicious entities may find those flaws in the code by using their techniques and as a result the users and their privacy get compromised. Most of the time the closed source applications are full of vulnerabilities and when a hacker finds those vulnerabilities then he/she can take advantage of it and steal data of millions of users. The open source code isn't much vulnerable by nature because almost everyone can fix the vulnerabilities in the code and they can also improve the security of it by contributing their share on it.
2393  Other / Meta / Re: where we can see the forum time? on: September 13, 2023, 02:53:52 PM
See theymos profile.
The local time in theymos profile is 6 hours behind the default forum time.
I learned a new thing!

I knew about time offset and how to set it for my profile local time but I thought it only display in my profile when I login the account. I did not know that other users can see my local time too. I learned it from you today, thanks.  Cheesy

The website's time zone is based on UTC+0 if I'm not wrong, but anyone can change their local time based on their own country's time zone. When you have changed your local time zone then others will also see the changed offset instead of the forum's default time zone.

2394  Economy / Lending / Re: Small loan needed for renewing a domain on: September 12, 2023, 07:51:37 PM
It is another domain. It's already expired. It is already on grace period. I may have a few days to reclaim it. Thank you replying in loan thread even though you don't any slight intention of giving me a loan.

Yes, I think you understand it right. No one will give you any loan due to your rank and even a $12 loan is a good amount for someone. Your account rank is newbie and with that rank you may not get any loan because many times lenders have been scammed by trusting a newbie and that's why there is no chance for you to get the loan.
2395  Other / Meta / Re: Doubt on "duplicate" response on: September 12, 2023, 07:42:00 PM

So, I thought I'd report it as a duplicate, and since I assume the thread will be trashed, I wanted to ask him the same question in the original thread. The thing is, I thought that if I do it before the thread is trashed, if it is finally trashed, I would also be breaking rule 12.

For the moment I will report the duplicate thread.

I don't think that it's necessary to report that thread because he has added a few more sentences in new thread and that's why it won't be considered as an exact replica of the thread that's available on digital goods board. But, if you still want to report it then I'm sure that your report will be somewhat valid because even if the thread isn't exactly like the original one it still has the same information in it. I don't know why someone tries to have same thread in multiple boards, I think that could be for marketing purpose but that sounds really unprofessional.
2396  Economy / Lending / Re: I NEED 30 THOUSAND DOLLARS IN TERM on: September 12, 2023, 07:29:22 PM
It's unfortunate you don't have any collateral, but apparently you're lacking something far more valuable; common sense.
lmao! You left nothing to write for anyone else.

Can I Give My Account As Collateral? Can I Give A Car?

I don't think that your account is a valid collateral and if you want your car as collateral for a deal then your car must be more than $30k in value. Only those members may accept your car as collateral who live in your own country because it's a burdensome thing for out country lenders to accept car as a collateral due to many issues.

If you really want to have that amount as loan then you must have to provide a valid collateral. In face I recommend you to sell your car directly and then use that money for your needs.
2397  Economy / Speculation / Re: Key Accelerators to bitcoin bull market on: September 12, 2023, 07:12:49 PM

1.HALVING: it's a period  where investors,earners and miners of Bitcoin  get their rewards  for mining being shared or cut into halves.and this procesd takes place during every four years, so when this is done the market prices for Bitcoin rises and reduce inflation.

I'm pretty sure that halving is the only indicator that can accelerate the bull market. In fact almost every time bull market starts after halving and it gets intense after few month to a year of halving. I believe that this factor plays the most important role in bull market.

2.EDUCATION: Education  is versatile "if your not informed you are deformed".
Saw a video of miss bitcoin,educating her kids on bitcoin .so enlightenment and educating on bitcoin will lead to the adoption of utility.

Education about Bitcoin is necessary but it doesn't play any role in boosting up the bull market. With proper education about Bitcoin one can protect his/her Bitcoin from hackers and can invest in it securely.

7.INSTITUTIONAL ADOPTION: Seeing top financial boys like Blackrock,Finetech and fidelity  in bitcoin will sure lead to investors keeping billions of dollars aside to invest in Bitcoin.
Also ETF from financial goals like Blackrock,fidelity and others is definitely a good  thing for bitcoin adoption that could lead to increase in price. Which is a good thing for those accumulating these Satoshi's for years now.

Yes, those type of ETF's from the top companies may increase the adoption of Bitcoin and we may see new investors in the world of Bitcoin due to those companies. But, still the top investors will only invest in Bitcoin if they like the idea of decentralization and other features of Bitcoin.

2399  Other / Meta / Re: Altcoin Wallet Board In Alternate Cryptocurrencies Needed - Why Admin Sleep ? on: September 11, 2023, 08:42:13 PM
No, you are not right. People, also Bitcointalk forum members are using altcoins more and more. So altcoin wallet board is exactly what this forum need.
I only stated facts, of course I'm right.

Most altcoin buyers don't even want to install the coin's wallet, usually they just keep it on an exchange. That tells you all you need to know about how "important" that coin is.

You have totally right and in fact I'm among those people who keep most of his altcoins in exchanges rather than installing their wallet software and withdrawing the coins into those wallets. I don't think that there is any need to withdraw altcoins to a personal custodial wallet. I love to keep them on exchanges instead. I actually bought those coins as a mistake and in order to fix my mistake I'm holding those useless coins. I don't think that I will get my money back that I invested in those altcoins, but still I will hold those on custodial wallet of the exchange rather than withdrawing them on my own wallet.

I also don't agree with the @OP and I must say that most of the forum members are not using altcoins more than Bitcoin and I must tell you to do proper research before saying something like that. This is Bitcointalk forum and here most of the members are interested in Bitcoin and things related to Bitcoin.
2400  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Cheapest way to withdraw my money from Coinbase on: September 11, 2023, 08:29:40 PM
Hi, I would like to withdraw my coinbase balance.

Is Litecoin still the cheapest way to withdraw?

And in case in the end I decide to withdraw my balance in usdt...I see that at the time of withdrawal it does not let me specify the usdt network...and the other exchange asks me to specify the network I am going to use to make the deposit...

I recommend you to withdraw with Lite Coin as it's one of the cheapest way to withdraw your crypto from one exchange to other. There are some other coins with cheap fees but LTC is the top one when it comes to fees. And, it's accepted on almost every exchange so that's why go with LTC instead of any other option. I recommend you to avoid withdrawing with USDT because my experience hasn't been good with that coin. USDT is best option if you want to do P2P trading on platforms like Binance but it isn't a good choice for withdrawing purpose. If the other network is accepting LTC and is giving you a LTC deposit address then go for it.
