241  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A new malware designed to beat 2-fa authentication on: February 01, 2019, 04:38:03 AM
that is why "encryption" exists!
you encrypt everything with a password and nobody is going to be able to have access to your data that easily. for example in this case you can encrypt your stored passwords in your browser with a master password that they allow you to set. that way the passwords are stored on your disk encrypted. for example using Firefox you can go to your setting and type in "master password" in the settings search bar and check its box and set a strong encryption password:
Code:
about:preferences#searchResults

Interesting I didn't know firefox can do this. Do we have the same option for google chrome?
242  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Meet the Wealthiest People in Crypto on: January 31, 2019, 11:43:46 PM
Most of them built something on top of a booming technology. What a great call for them.

My eyes always called Satoshi on the list. Yes, we do not know the fate of Satoshi, but the number of Bitcoins he owns and his wealth may be very high. So it should have been on the list ... Everyone on the list should be grateful to Satoshi.

The problem with satoshi's bitcoin is that we don't even know if it accessible still today. I hope he didn't lock those coins to move the production of bitcoin that day. Plus the fact that we don't know where or who he is.
243  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ATM's are popping up on: January 31, 2019, 11:33:41 PM
-30 more ATMs to be installed in Chicago
-Coinstar is now selling BTC in grocery stores all over the US
-More than 4000 ATMs in the world, many more to come in Germany

We're getting there.

Wow this is great news. Never wondered that a company would really sell bitcoin in a grocery store. So is it used for purchasing goods in the grocery store too?
244  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: On merchants not willing to accept crypto on: January 30, 2019, 08:23:34 PM

Is this what I think it is?

You can accept payment and then quickly convert it into fiat right away with the current market price?

No, it is not what you think it is

The poster you replied to seems to mean that merchants don't even see any cryptocurrency per se as they are using payment processors like BitPay or CoinGate, which deal with all the required conversions and volatility issues. Basically, you, as an online shop owner, just install a plugin on your site which is provided by the payment processor, and your clients will be able to pay with crypto. Then at the end of the week you receive a fiat transfer into your bank account which totals payments made during that week by the clients of your shop
[/quote]

Great explanation. Thank you. So it is not automatic just as I said it will be, but it was close. So merchants can do these I wonder why they won't? Maybe because crypto can still bounce up and down in a week?
245  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: On merchants not willing to accept crypto on: January 29, 2019, 08:27:50 PM

This is a major misconception, because merchants don't have to hold Bitcoins to accept them.

Why? Because services exists this times that handle the payment/exchange process from Bitcoin to the fiat currency of the merchant's preference and availability inside the service itself right away. Extremely easy.

Example: https://bitpay.com/retail

Is this what I think it is?

You can accept payment and then quickly convert it into fiat right away with the current market price?

VPN + download Google Auth for PC = No more KYC  Cheesy
I tried as a test 1 year ago and I successfully bypass all KYC verifications, I forgot on which one of exchanges... it was one of the most popular.

I think that is two-factor authentication you are referring to. It is not KYC. KYC or know your customer requires people to send legal documents that prove that they are real people.
247  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: majority will lose money and minds on: January 21, 2019, 07:50:39 PM
OP must have been trapped with the 2017 bubble and is now ranting because he can't sell anymore. So much for the negativity, if it will be outlawed as you said then bitcoin will be back to where it started.
248  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-01-20]South African Police Arrest Two Kidnappers Who Asked For Ransom in B on: January 21, 2019, 07:20:33 PM
as long as the hackers don't touch anything that's centralized, there isn't much that can be done against them, so it's pretty much a waiting game.

Agreed, it's funny that they thought it will be easy for them to get out with that large amount of money. They are so into the feed that bitcoin's anonymity can protect them. Well, it can if they know what they are doing. It needs a more technical approach. Well, I'm happy for they got caught. Agreed in the news that this somehow will affect bitcoin.
249  Other / Off-topic / Re: A KYC database sold on the Darkweb ? on: January 21, 2019, 05:07:22 AM
The bad thing about KYC. But we cant do nothing about it. The only thing we can do is either to abide or not to use the service. But without the service how are we going to profit?
250  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do some people refuse to accept bitcoin? on: January 21, 2019, 05:03:59 AM
Most of them dont want to buy because bitcoin dont provide protection. Unlike any other investments that is under legal protection. Bitcoin is decentralized and most people would want to be safe.
251  Economy / Speculation / Re: This Isn't Manipulation on: January 19, 2019, 01:21:23 AM
Unless I own a business that revolves and needs bitcoin to live then I might spend much money to advertise it. But as of now, I am not. So I think the basic usage and showing people that this is what I bought with bitcoin is a small but successful word of mouth advertisement.

Just do our part.
252  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's kick some bear ass on January 30th! on: January 19, 2019, 01:18:15 AM
i wonder why the OP is choosing January 30th. and im guessing its probably because the OP gets paid on like the 28th and wants to buy in BEFORE the date he chose

I think because it's payday. And we can only buy at payday where we have money.

I agree with the cycle if anyone knows where and when whales buy then it will the whales lost in the end. And we would not want that to happen. That is why most whale groups are private. Smiley
253  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: The Ledger Nano S firmware 1.5.5 update on: January 19, 2019, 01:08:38 AM
I'm getting  time out errors.

Ledger Live just sits on the "Allow Ledger Manger on your device" for several minutes after clicking the "yes" option on the device... and eventually the time-out error occurs. I assume that this is most likely because the Ledger servers are being hammered by everyone trying to update and failing (and all the "MCU Firmware not genuine" errors causing panic and people reinstalling etc).

I am becoming more and more discouraged by the "quality" of Ledger and their software and updates. Things just seem to be going from bad to worse. Sad Undecided

NOTE: after several retries, I finally managed to get "Manager" opened... it is taking nearly 2 minutes to uninstall each app Undecided

This might the cause of so many people now trying to update. I will wait for at least a month before I will update.

I wonder why it takes too much time to uninstall an app. How about installing?
254  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance freezes stolen Cryptopia funds on: January 19, 2019, 01:05:16 AM
So binance can freeze your account? hmm.. okay then back to the subject, how come they send the funds straight to binance not considering that they can be traced? Considering the fact that they HACKED an exchange. They must have known that.

My guess is that they send the funds and liquidate them hopefully before Binance catches wind of the incident.

Not many exchanges could react on time (like Binance).

Agreed. That's what's great with Binance. They are very attentive and is urgent with things. So what they will do to the funds now?

Nope, I will wait for a month or so first. Then we will see if there is no bug or anything. I would not want the electrum problem happen to me Cheesy
257  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does it mean to buy on the Dip? on: January 16, 2019, 12:06:48 AM
"buy in the dip" is just a marketing slogan to attract new speculators when the bitcoin price has fallen again, it increasingly works worse.

spikes get smaller dumps get deeper.

Yeah, it didn't just go to $20k...

Its been going down ever since it was $0.00100  ..
Wait..

It doesn't show any dip signs yet. I am sure there will be. Because if not then we will see bitcoin literally die.

Starting the new year with crypto hacks.
258  Economy / Speculation / Re: Cryptopia Hacked. Will BTC Crash? on: January 16, 2019, 12:01:27 AM
First bad news for 2019. Lets wait for the official press news.

From what i read all over in the internet news in google when i search only eth and erc20 tokens is affected with this hack but in the police new zealand website i only got this info http://www.police.govt.nz/news/release/investigation-involving-crypto-currency-company

So does this mean they are still in business?
259  Economy / Speculation / Re: January...The Next Few Weeks Will Be Crucial on: January 14, 2019, 07:15:26 PM
There is no hint of what will happen these coming weeks. We are all excited for great news but we don't see any, at least a glimpse is still not seen. So I think January will not be noisy for bitcoin. Well, anything can happen.
260  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is the best Bitcoin robot? on: January 14, 2019, 07:08:51 PM
I don't think there is some bot out there who can make sure a probability. You can check it's probability only depending on how it's results are doing. Which is a bad thing, that is why I don't use bots.. Plus the fact that it is controlled or created by someone.
