241  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Does an ASIC miner currently have a smaller repayment time than solar panels? on: March 20, 2017, 10:14:50 PM
My understanding is that a solar panel set up (independent if using it for mining) will pay out in 5-8 years depending on where you live (sun coverage) and cost of electricity.

Miner payout is completely dependent on your electricity costs. Best case you have free power, expect a payout for sure < 1 year. There are plenty of mining calculators around to help you figure this out, try CoinWarz

5-8 years equals an eternity in comparison to bitcoin's timescale. So that answer to OP's question is: yes.
Each mining calculation that I did in my lifetime using nifty calculators ... backfired on me.
You can't predict Difficulty. That renders all numbers useless.
242  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are Mining pools spamming the network with fake transactions? on: March 20, 2017, 10:07:25 PM
That get's me too.
Are they broadcast at the same time as the block?
Do they even hit the mempool?

Some bitfury blocks are 1/3 full of this address's tx's paying 0.0001btc fee each to send zero bitcoins.
I have been waiting for a precise definition of "all transactions are fake" what does that mean?!
Zero bitcoins transferred, that does indeed sound invalid. Any blockchain explorer link (TXID or similar) for the naked eye to see?
It's hard to believe without cryptographically sound evidence. If this proves true, the network should develop a way to route around malicious pool activities.
243  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The level of unpopularity Trump grows. on: March 20, 2017, 11:33:40 AM
The fact that Trump reduced the debt by $ 12 billion is fake. There is no such. The prohibition of abortion also did not earn him popularity. A trump loser and its place in the dustbin of history. He is not the President he is a clown.
The motives have been the right one, but $ 12 billion doesn't really cut it, not turning pages. Another some monthes and a gov blunder will blow twice that amount elsewhere. Watch and wait.
The abortion is a difficult matter, since there are medical reasons besides the struggle of different believes. And any voices of reason are seldom recognized in the recent days.

Well its never gonna reach 100% as trump has his own die hard supporters.
Himself beeing the biggest one  Grin honestly, never seen anybody beeing full of himself so much.
244  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do I grow my btc? on: March 20, 2017, 11:25:40 AM
~snip~
First of all i am not at against investing in casinos as the profit is like 2% a month which will be around [1]20% a year which isn't bad at all but [2]don't you think there is a risk as the site can just take your investments or may not pay you. And holding bitcoin is a good idea because bitcoin isn't fiat it has a [3]40% growth every year which is sufficient rather than investing in gambling sites.

[1] It's 24% to be exact. 2% x 12 months = 24%.

[2] There's risk at everything. Even going outside of your house, you're risking yourself of getting hit by the vehicle although the chance is really really low. Same thing as investing in gambling sites or any casino, there's a chance that they will run away your money but the chance will be really low. That's what you're risking together with the risk that the casino can get hacked, get bankrupt, etc.

[3] 40% growth, is it fixed every year? Where did this even come from

Once Bter had been paying annual interest rates like 10% (or even12% ?) and a gambling site can move much more money than an exchanger, twice the amount could be doable. The risks are higher, however.
The more safer loaning on Poloniex results into smaller returns, of course. < 1% but shortterms.
40% rings my alarm bells, too.
245  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Even now in 2017, why is bitcoin *still* not accepted as a major currency? on: March 20, 2017, 08:58:05 AM
Doesn't make any sense TBH. We should've seen it starting to replace conventional currencies by now.
We are not seeing it as a currency for the same reason that we are not seeing gold coins or Apple shares as a currency.

Bitcoin isn't a currency. It is a highly mobile commodity. You can pay in bitcoins but the seller actually wants $$$ , not btc.

All three come close to a currency, bullion coins since millennia, Apple shares just since some decades and Bitcoin since years. People recognized their value! Just to "replace" a currency you would need to apply lethal force. Something "official" in the workings.
246  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: transfers between wallets on: March 20, 2017, 01:03:23 AM
2-Can I do it without being connected to the internet?

3-Even if both are under my name, I suppose I would get charged on transfer fees, rigth?

First and foremost memorize to password protect / encrypt your wallet. Whatever happens to a local copy this assures the baseline security. Write down that password somewhere else, stored far away.

Now the not so beginner stuff. Backups, backups and backups! Keep a copy on an USB stick. Continually renew that copy since the data can get slightly outdated. Remember those backups are encrypted files. It's not even needed to delete the outdated ones. Try to keep some oversight which one has been the most recently used version.
Never, never never ever loose your wallet. And not the password, too. Never store both at the same location.

Third step: You can transfer the whole wallet.dat from one device onto the other. That is possible without a network connection. You can store that file on any device even without installing the complete bitcoin software. Rigth, no transfer fees.

Pro step: It is technically possible to extract the secret keys, handling and copying them from here to there BUT that's not best practise. Insecure, even. Usually when people start doing that, they break havoc on their Bitcoins.
247  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: you need to overcome your fear of losing money on: March 19, 2017, 10:07:48 PM
If we overcomed that fear we will lose our money, fear is a big force that stops you when you gamble.. Just remember that every single emotion is important
if you will overcome your fear then you will decrease the chance of your losing money in trading, because you will become  more confident and will able to give full attention to your trading.
Lethargy has proven to be my secret weapon. Neither emotion, nor confidence, and not fear has lead to any genius trade decision. Just buying, watching, occasionally selling.
248  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How can terrorism be stopped on: March 19, 2017, 07:49:42 PM
Everywhere there is that unfavorable environment from where conditions for terrorism are created, the same religious communities that push people to such actions. It is necessary from the very childhood to teach children what is good and what is bad, to improve the economic situation in the country.
There is a correlation between local situation and believe systems manifesting at those places. Hinduism has been linked to powerty, too, but developped in a different way.
The narrow focus on religion seems to rule out any solutions. In middle east it's more related to energy supply than muslimism in my mind. So a valid attack angle would be solar power, as unrelated as it seems on first glance.
249  Economy / Speculation / Re: the recent drop could be a trap 2017/3/19. on: March 19, 2017, 06:57:35 PM
That is just a trap and nothing real behind this drop so market expert already talking about this drop. So price will be back there  from it dropped.

If it forms out like a shoulder head shoulder just standing on top than the whole manouvre has been futile.
For seriously scaring people away the dip would have been below half of former hill. 950 is not even close to that.
250  Economy / Speculation / Re: No HardFork will happen -Most exchanges say BU will at *best be an ALT-Coin. on: March 19, 2017, 06:42:07 PM
...If we fork, BTC tanks, and their profits go down the hole for some time until confidence is restored.

A doubling of coin supply, going from 21 up to 42 would at least solve that Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, The Universe, and Everything from Douglas Adams novel.
Coinfidence would never ever return. Limited supply beeing a foundation of everything.
Forking or 42 are just the wrong answer.
251  Economy / Speculation / Re: No HardFork will happen -Most exchanges say BU will at *best be an ALT-Coin. on: March 19, 2017, 01:00:28 PM
(Replay attack protection is a method to prevent spending of existing coins on *both chains, which would be possible if BU went ahead with its confrontational plan to try to *replace BTC).

Care to explain in simple words for the tech weary? From my knowledge "replay" implies "play" first, a wallet address that don't move (like cold store, or Satoshi's BTC) cannot be touched.

"Bitcoin Core developer Jameson Lopp tweeted, “It appears that BU devs have no intention of adding replay protection - their plan is to kill the Core chain instead.”

That is some serious assault. Nobody in a right state of mind can support people of those intentions.
252  Economy / Speculation / Re: When do you think Bitcoin will reach $1500? on: March 19, 2017, 05:54:38 AM
Perfect timing OP for this thread. The situation in Bitcoin can change drastically in a matter of hours, especially if you walk in the overbought territory for quite a long time.
Does $1500 seem now feasible in this year? Of course it does, but it will be rather the second half of the year and after quite a fight.

You got quite the tight timing shedule, like daytraders do.

A different angle watching this seasonal. The term of a Bitcoin Summer. Like countrymen and crop grower take a stance at things. Last year's charts had that june / july harvest season. Watching the rainy charts of the last days maybe this year's season move to july / august.
The idea is to trade and transfer less often to pay lesser fees.
253  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Idea to avoid high fee on: March 19, 2017, 05:45:54 AM
If you convert of an altcoin on an exchange, that exchange will charge a fee for you and another fee for the recipient when he/she converts back. I guess it depends on how much all those fees add up to be and if it is still profitable.

The idea was born dead. If an altcoin is needed there is that opposite implication - the original seems to be unneeded. That leaves it behind as a collector's token.
254  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: spot trading for beginners with an initial capital of less than approximately 0. on: March 18, 2017, 11:45:42 PM
Unfortunately there aren't site that provide you a starting btc balance without you depositing first an amount, because it would be an hook for abuses.

I don't think that was what he meant.

I think he was talking about just a low starting capital in general, Which i would indeed like to know aswell.

Problem is that these sites have to do with fees aswell, therefore it becomes very unprofitable to trade with low amounts.

It looks plain logic to me that there are no sites which give out free starter capital.

I did not understood the OP's intention, neither. A free starter capital usually hints on a gambling house, to hook in new customers, we are far away from that game of chances, aren't we  Cool
The trading fees are proportional on your trade size, so small in absolute proporsitions on a small portfolio. No barrier to enter.
255  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin is a good investment now, because... on: March 18, 2017, 11:33:07 PM
Today the price is really good to make an investment just look at the price how low it has gone in few hours so if you buy now then it will give you great results in next few days as price will go higher again in coming days from where you can expect good profits.
The old school investors are preaching this along Rothschild, "Buy When There's Blood in the Streets" but I want to raise doubts, the markets tend to react illogical for a longer time period than you have spare dry powder.
Average down with caution, on a longer timescale.
256  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 18, 2017, 11:27:39 PM
It seems that BU nodes are rapidly becoming less and less ............

http://xtnodes.com/#bitcoin_unlimited
Hashrate?

You know one of the most vocalist altcoins out there features variable blocksize. And for a while I have thought if that's a solution, and if it is, would get adapted by Bitcoin, too. Only if it has proven to be the right, unique and unavoidable approach. Not as a struggle to ruin everything upfront.
257  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 18, 2017, 03:09:30 PM
Is the "BU is going to hardfork bitcoin" the new "China is going to ban bitcoin?"

One can say that "njet" from the high officials against the ETF has been an attack from the outside.
This one comes from within. It's always succeeding from that inside attack angle.
258  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Radioactive Iodine-131 detected over large areas in Europe. on: March 18, 2017, 09:34:21 AM
I think the artic cold descended over Europe in the early winter this year so the winds were actually north winds.  Chernobyl incident occured in April when the south winds would become more prominent.  I'm not a meteorologist however.
There's a facility in north-western Russia used to decomission and store old nuclear reactors... Maybe they took one on for decommisioning  that was still critical?

From that question alone one can guess you know nothing, absolutely nothing about the technology. You even know about Fukushima?

Whoever did this does not want to admit it,perhaps it is still the easiest to blame the Russians nuclear testing, I even saw the information that is to blame one of their nuclear submarine which had a slight accident.

This always blaming the russians for everything seems to wear out.
259  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin never replace Fiat Money on: March 18, 2017, 09:22:30 AM
ever thought that someday bitcoin will be able to replace fiat money, but do we ever realize that just like the gold that was already present far thousands of years ago in this world, gold is really a selling point even been recognized by all world. everywhere in the world recognize that gold has value selling, even history records that the gold had been in use as currency in some  country many years ago......

There are several kinds of Fiat. These paper bills, your online banking, the bank in your town. Depot value.
Gold comes as jewellery, bullion coins, gold ingot.
Bitcoin probably has a million altcoins.

Just that "replacing" thing does not happen, never did anywhere. Once something of value has proven to be tradeable it just pertains. If another thing pops up it stays next to that, too. There are no replacements.
260  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Voting on the Blockchain on: March 17, 2017, 08:53:28 PM
One private key, one vote.

The crucial thing is how to make sure the private keys safely get to each eligible voter.

Would require a additional register for tying one real personality to one private key and the address belonging to it. That defeats the catchy slogan of bringing voting into the blockchain.
And once you need a centralized database you can stuff the whole issue inside that instead of using the blockchain.

The celebrity voting on the other hand could work out, but I would advertise that as monetizing the audience's votes. Like phone voting where you get charged for a call. And again, there is allready a solution in existence which has momentum and mass appeal.
