Looking back at this thread right now makes me laugh. It was en event that we reached $6K,now $8K is nothing and we are all waiting for $10K. Wonder which threshold will amaze me next.

Not in the foreseeable future, since we will still need fiat currency to define the worth of cryptocurrencies. For example, when we think of 1 BTC today, we don't think about it in terms of 1 BTC, we think of it as = $8K. As long as we need fiat currency to define cryptocurrencies, the current order of economy will not change drastically in my opinion.

I think it is very difficult to pinpoint the exact reason, in another thread we were talking about bot activity. I think altcoin owners still look to bitcoin to understand trends, so when btc starts going down, people start to reactionarily sell altcoins as well. But what triggered the initial decline in btc, I think nobody knows.
I wouldn't call it a crash, similar to how we don't call it a boom every time the price goes up. Some bot activity is surely to be expected, but I'm hoping as bitcoin becomes more popular and a larger number of owners enter the network, hopefully the price will stabilize and we will not have to worry about bot interventions any more.

You should not invest more than the amount that would financially hurt you if you lost all of it. Although bitcoin is going strong for the moment, since this cryptocurrency thing is happening for the first time ever, no one knows how things will eventually pan out. So always invest with caution.

How can you ensure that the transaction fees will decrease? I agree with your main points, but unless transaction fees decrease drastically, I think bitcoin's "business model" (if there is even such a thing) as a mode of payment will not happen.

Investing, if you have capital. Signature campaigns, if you don't have capital and are willing to invest your time instead.

If Russia creates and regulates their own cryptocurrency, then what difference does it have than having a regular bank account at a Russian bank? A government created cryptocurrency defeats its own purpose, since people wouldn't be willing to invest in it, especially in a country like Russia where the government can reach everywhere.

Good that they are notifying in advance, and completely blocking transactions for customers' protection.

This is great news. I love that mainstream applications and institutions are picking up on bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general.

Take a look at the monthly trend. And then the yearly trend. Both are on the rise. So instead of worrying about small rises and dips, I choose to concentrate on the long run.
I see one problem with this: Who would advertise? Who even has the rights to use the bitcoin name and logo in adverts? I can see some marketplaces advertising on TV, but bitcoin as a standalone entity cannot be advertised, I think.

Why do you have to do something with them. Just let them be, not everyone has to invest in bitcoins. If everyone was into it, there would be fewer bitcoins left for us ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Thanks for the photos. I plan to buy one myself in the future, when I have hopefully more bitcoins that I can store ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Well, it would be "gold" only for cryptocurrencies. Assuming cryptocurrencies are still "a thing", of course. I really do not see the point of comparing bitcoin to gold. Gold is gold and bitcoin is bitcoin. We don't have to compare bitcoin to something else to ensure that it is legitimate.
Use bitcoin. Talk about bitcoin. Make sure people think about it as a legitimate currency and not some sort of gimmick. The more trust people place in bitcoin, the better off bitcoin will be.
Of course, if you think it will increase, why not buy? Of course, it's not like buying at around the $5K level, but if it increases then you are still making money. I don't see any reason not to buy.
Unless the transactions are faster, and transaction fees go down drastically, I think bitcoin cannot be considered as a legit mode of payment.
No reason to worry right now. The number has decreased to 40Ks as of now, and it's continuing to fall. So hopefully it was a temporary situation.
I think $10K is the most important mental threshold here. Once we reach 5 digits and can stay there for good, I see no reason why it shouldn't go upwards from there. It might take its time, but I'm thinking it will eventually reach $15K and more.
