241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Bernankoin the Coin for people who do not understand economics on: January 04, 2014, 09:57:41 PM
Dude a large prtion of new user's would adopt the new client, so it would seem anyway, if their was enough argument behind why all of a sudden its going to be a good thing, sure it would be debated and so forth, but the psychological factor of dealing in BTC '0000001  has an effect on everyone it seems, I could be wrong, but when your able to buy a car with 1 BTC it seems that it is closer to gold than currency IMO.

Bro, none of those links work for the old windows 1.0 qt. Do you know of a working link? I never downloaded the 1.0 I got in at the 1.2 client.

This is the first time I ever heard of a wallet reverting back to a previous version...LOL!

Kind of goes to show that a developer can do whatever they really like with the software huh? thnx pankkake!

Thanks for the advice guys, working towards getting savvy, no need to follow the mainstream direction, I want my coins protected from unlawful search and seizure, hope there will remain to be further development in the future for this.

Hmm, I'll have to check this out. I'm paranoid about keeping my funds online, but blockchain.info seems pretty safe.

Ya, but would you want to keep 5000 or more BTC on blockchain.info? I like blockchain.info but then I am putting my security in someone else's hands, what do you use right now?
No, I wouldn't keep that much in there. But I'd be scared on holding that much on any amount of USBs or Paper back-ups etc.
Ya! Haha, always worried its vulnerable going to lose it in fire, or what could happen, sell a bunch and diversify, buy a small beach in Mexico  Smiley

Not so easy to get to diff 9.
http://www.reddit.com/r/primecoin/comments/1snk1n/explain_the_difficulty_metric_to_me/

However about 14 hours until some time-based fun.
Or implosion.
Interesting, what does an implosion look like? How will I know when it happens? I will be solo printing through my bank at that time and am wondering what to look for.

So after the last reply from Holliday I google armory, I read this thread of backing up files, cool, I can back up my wallet on paper and then destroy all digital pieces of it if I wanted? (did not explain anything about how to recreate the files, but that, I think I could possibly figure out with the right guide) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=152151.0
Then I read "Using Armory anonymously"  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=155717.0 and then "Armory number of possible wallets" https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=384817.0 and next "using armory on ubuntu" https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=377020.0 and for the sake of this thread, last i read "How are People implementing their M-of-N (Fragmented) Backup Plan?" https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=350993.0 Wow!! Instead of thinking I can do this easily I may just take the "Enter IT field" option, I can hardly understand what this stuff means, and have no idea why it has to be so difficult and time consuming, and I have an interest in how it work's! Now the guy that just wants to be secure with his new digital crypto currency but can hardly use office is going to be confused as ever, how do bitcoiners expect to get over the tech hump to mainstream the use and adoption? Everything I read was easy reading, a person can get the concept but cant grasp the details easily.
Now that I know I am doomed to many hours of book's and testing, where do I start? Networking? Programming? Security? I feel the need to understand what is behind the software I choose to be secure against super computer's brute force attacks on my finances.

I guess if you showed up to a shop and that stuff was as sticky as the pictures make it look, then your drive would have been worth it, it almost looks sprayed  Shocked

Why not just make a mobile friendly theme for the forum?

Yes, Like Amazon's site, when it detects a PC it uses a desktop version or when it detects a mobile phone, it uses the mobile site.
Please just leave an option to visit the full website on mobile.

I would be interested to know if there is a way to sell BTC while jumping through a FinCen Loophole, currently it seems that operating a business that sells it physically like those hologram coins is illegal, would it be ok to sell it through a virtual business in a virtual life as part of high stake entertainment for myself? or does law transfer to the virtual world too?

256  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New Here!! on: January 03, 2014, 04:05:24 AM
The question is why the admins here assume that everybody who's  new here is new to crypto? Why these stupid post restrictions?
Some of us have never used a forum before, shoot, sometimes I want to treat it like fb, the new users unfamiliar with crypto quite possibly could cause a whole lot of clutter, their are alot of reasons, a lot of users have been new to crypto, after being a part of the forum for awhile clutter is tiring, countless repeated questions, suggestons, threads that are identical to so many others, if it takes me  5 second's to read clutter on every board I visit every time I go to it and it is on page after page, the seconds start to add up.
There is a Whitelist where you can request out of newbie boards https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=15911.0 pass that bit of info on.

Ever heard the expression, "healthy skepticism?    Try not to be paranoid but at the same time, if you're not doing anything wrong you should have nothing to fear.  Just keep your eyes open and be careful, but relax a little.  Maybe talk to someone like a therapist who you can trust.

Ok so paranoid was the wrong word to use, I used the word in a casual context, now who does not do something wrong? If you are able to live straight laced then kudos to you, I am surely relaxed, I want to be off the grid when I retire and plan to use BTC and the like to get there, my hope is through trading and other online means, so i do worry that when I am at the peak of my online activity it all comes falling down based on some sort of homeland security bylaws.

Relax a bit, try to turn down the paranoia mode. Besides, what kind of enemies of the corrupt governments are you friends with? Since "they" already know, there's no harm in telling it to everyone else.

The common Patriots and the such that personally dare to fight secret courts and the such, people that think outside of the box and see something going on behind the media curtains.

Break your private keys into an M of N paper wallet. Put the pieces (however many you are comfortable with) in different physical locations. Relax knowing that the only way to access your coins requires obtaining a certain number of pieces from a certain number of different physical locations.

I just brought this point up to my brother inlaw who say's I can be hacked the moment I sync my wallet with the network, now I get to dig into the info available and try to understand why he thinks that is possible, it is almost pushing me into the IT field just to understand it all.
258  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Bernankoin the Coin to save our economy - QE3 underway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on: January 03, 2014, 03:24:19 AM
What would the site be for? just kind of wondering.
What we need is a way to integrate the next chairman of the FED into the coin's future policy, the QE is not going to end when Ben Bernanke leaves the FED, yet, I am worried that it will taper more a lot sooner than we can expect, that means we need to be prepared to receive less coins for all the work we put into printing, so I suggest that we come in line with the possibility of a different direction coming, maybe..... deflation  Sad

eac15678 gave me 20,000 on the 21st of Dec and its enough I think for free,  good to see you guys still passing it out, good job.

Work your way up, that's the only way to get to posting as you know, when you get finished with the altcoins keep working your way up to BTC, understanding BTC sure makes the alt's easier to play with, makes me wonder why so many of us spend so much time lurking before we create a user name  Roll Eyes
Aww well, welcome!
