241  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER Windows build for TECHNOBIT's Boards on: September 06, 2014, 05:19:07 PM
Hello 2Good,

I am currently running my six technobit hex16a2 at 1000MHz/ 850 mv.  Do you have any opinion about how much longer it would be still worth keeping these plugged in, before they are too unprofitable to run?

Did anyone managed to breakeven with these PBMining contracts so far?

I think anyone who bought their contract before the beginning of April.

I only have about 0.1 BTC to go before I break even.  So I'm at least not on the hook for a significant amount, and I have sworn off buying more contracts.  However this thread definitely did help to open my eyes about bitcoin mining schemes in general, and contribute to making me more cautious and skeptical.  The idea of paying a lump sum for a cloud mining contract, with the eventual outcome that you perhaps (hopefully) earn back the same amount of BTC, makes it similar to a mail in rebate.  You pay money up front for an item and the promotional gimmick from the company that made the product is that they will mail you a portion of the money you paid up front at a later time.  During that interval of time they can earn interest on that money.

Coffee is the only item I have bought with bitcoins on a semi-regular basis since I began earning enough BTC through mining to pay for it.  I had been shopping at a store called Brewcupid.  When I thought about ordering another bag the other day, I noticed that their website was no longer online. Also, they were handling the bitcoin check-out only as a secondary feature to their store, through bitpay, meaning they were probaby not directly involved with using bitcoin. Also, they had no presence on bitcointalk.  So now that I think about it, it would make a lot more sense to support your business, since you are actively involved with the bitcoin, and are communicating with us here on the forum.

To make it more interesting to new users wishing to join the cryptobec exchange, I have put up a 5000 QBC sell order with an ask price that is reasonably close to the current ask on the Bittrex exchange.  The current ask price for Quebecoin is hovering around 0.000004 BTC on Bittrex.

All the Canadian customers, which includes me, are currently locked out of buying new contracts.  Assuming they are being honest.  I bet many of the Canadian customers kept buying more contracts anyways, despite the disclaimer, since it is pretty unlikely anyone is verifying where the buyers are from.  I started buying at the beginning of April, then quit as soon as the disclaimer was posted.  Which could have been a blessing in disguise.  My total cost for 150 GH was 0.833823BTC.   I have had 0.6615BTC paid out so far, or 0.677BTC including this week's in progress amount.  So perhaps another month and a half and I will be getting close to reaching the BTC invested.    At which point the weekly payout will be pretty small.

Let's not forget that during the first few months of the year, the bitcoins generated from mining were flowing a lot more generously than they are today.  So a lot of us were more apt to invest that BTC freely and unwisely on a variety of questionable ventures.

I just logged on to their site for the first time in quite a while to make that calculation. I was surprised to see how many more usernames and contracts at all levels have inflated the global stats page since the last time I checked.    Back a couple months ago there were a lot more gaps between different contract levels, with very few at the top.  Making it feel a lot more like a small operation.  Now I see lots of people on there with very big contracts.

The silver lining to this is all the good things that people have done with their weekly BTC payouts to help make the world a better place (ha ha).

I don't understand why you do not use your bitcoin to buy on bittrex instead of buying rigs ? You will have more qbc for the same price

I was experimenting with mining X11 coins for the first time, and soon reached that same conclusion.  So now I have moved on to occasionally renting smaller rigs for short runs, and running the CPU miner.  I would at least be participating in mining to some degree, while focusing mosty on the  opportunity to use Bittrex exchange.

There is an other bittrex alarm. The coin will be delisted in 5 days If there not enough exchange

I just helped to bring it above the 0.1 BTC threshold by putting a sell order in that was closer to the ask than the other orders.  Clearly we can't manage to keep it going ourselves, however it does appear as though this market has picked up in the past couple weeks.

The average during last 24hours is now 0.07BTC.

I noticed this, it fluctuates over time.  A little while after you posted this, it shot back up to 0.0849BTC.

And now over 12 hours later it is up over 0.2BTC.  I have stopped trying to run very big mining rigs, and am sticking with more modest ones in the 20 MH/s range so that I can focus more attention on trading QBC on bittrex.

Obviously feel free to offer them to visit Quebeco.in, even thought I'm worried members  of a "francophonie" group will shoot them selves after reading 1 or 2 of my terrible post filled with bad grammar and structure lol.

I wouldn't worry, since many of them make plenty of grammatical errors.  It's a mixed bag, some of them are French language professionals, while others are simply content with being themselves.  Many of them just barely have the computer literacy needed to get on the internet and follow that facebook group.  So it would be wishful thinking that you could sell to that particular type the idea that they could figure out and manage cryptocurrency wallets.  Although perhaps their children or grandchildren.

I too have an address specifically for the Quebeco.in community, but I'm not sure if I should advertise it. And I'm still not sure how I will proceed to share the QBC it contains, but I have a few ideas and I am waiting to see how things develops. We've got a few years a head of us Smiley

I was looking back at what we were doing just after the Québecoin IPO.  There were free Québecoins given away to those people who retweeted a message about Québecoin.  I think the problem with that approach is that down the line there is still no vision about how those people would be able to use those coins for any sort of practical purpose.   Also, it excludes all but those who had the technical chops to navigate how to set up a crypto wallet and then go through all the steps involved with receiving and sending coins.  In my opinion we should also try to include a certain number of people who have no clue how to do any of this, and put the whole gamut of our crypto resources at their disposal.

Initially, the uses for Québecoin are very limited.  I am thinking that the very first use could be as tipping feature on a website that has uniquely Québecois content.  The owner of the webpage could add something at the bottom such as: "if you found this information useful, feel free to make a tip...I accept Québecoins".  Even though at first the only people who will be able to tip their page would be us.  It would communicate the concept to other visitors who could then click on a link that would explain what Québecoin is, and how they can participate in it's development.

Once a certain amount of Québecoin tips have been accumulated, one of us could exchange it for bitcoin on bittrex.com and use it to order something for the website owner (who perhaps doesn't know how to do any of that sort of thing).  It would probably only be something modest like a box of pens or a memory stick, since we don't have a lot of bitcoin weight yet.

Google has removed the old Québecoin homepages from the Québecoin search results.  Both the English and French pages for the coin launch were the top two results in our search just a couple days ago.  That has been replaced with the bitcointalk thread. No, not this one, the other one.  Eventually we also would like to see  Quebeco.in begin to appear within the first page of the search results.  We will gradually see some search optimization take shape.

I found it, it's a very good idea !

Can you confirm me that your pseudo is "addobbi" on cryptobec ? I will remove you the mining tax.

Yes, I am mining under the pseudo "addobbi".  I am currently running these two rigs on cryptobec:

I didn't find your post, which is the address ?

If you are referring to the post I made in that Facebook group, it is going to be buried too deep to find.  I have a limited opportunity to get their attention with anything that is this technical, however several members did seem to like the concept of a cryptocurrency especially for Québec.  One jokingly said: "I think I have more faith in "la piastre à Lévesque".

The address I made for that group is: QNM9KXet35E8dd9gp1zEay6K1rRMrSbxue

I deposited 3000 QBC, and then later another 998.998 QBC suddenly appeared.

In one of my facebook groups, Francophonie Québec (https://www.facebook.com/groups/francophonie.quebec/), I have set up a Québecoin address and declared it the property of all the members of the group.  I had stated to them that I wanted to occasionally hold contests in which I might give away something like an emailable $10 Itunes gift card to a random member who likes the contest thread, something that they could then use to buy francophone music.  Since that seems to be the preferred venue for Quebecois artists to sell their music online these days.  Perhaps someone here would be willing to sell me the Itunes gift card for Québecoins.

An offer for developing the android wallet has come in.

Nous venons de recevoir un message sur le fil de discussion original:

Sérieusement, je peux faire la version android pour pas cher, ça ne serait pas instantanné mais pas pire que d'attendre après d'autres, non? Smiley

Yesterday, I sold some Québecoin for the first time on the bittrex exchange.  I am noticing that it takes well over an hour for the deposit to show up in the bittrex QBC wallet.  There is a page that explains that it takes a minimum of 20 confirmations for deposits of Québecoin.  Yet I am looking at 46 confirmations, and the deposit is still pending over an hour later.  That is another bottleneck that can hinder trading.

https://www.betarigs.com/rig/916

Je vais donc ajouter $6 à mon $14 pour en faire un don de $20.

L'autre page pour convertir la monnaie Québecoin dans dollar canadien ne fonctionne pas comme il faut et fait semblant que le Québecoin n'a aucune valeur:

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in initiating the very first charitable donation involving Québecoin?   I will donate $20 to a Québecois charity or cause of your choice in exchange for the current equivalent value in Québecoins.  For some examples:
