241  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] New faucet rotator on: February 06, 2014, 10:55:48 PM
Today I added about 30 new sites to the rotator, so we now have over 100 sites listed. If there is a problem with any of the sites or if some site isn't listed, just tell me. I try to keep the payouts and addresses updated and also deactivate any faucet that isn't working, but it's a lot of work and some help would be appreciated.

I can't believe people are actually wasting energy to calculate stuff that is useless.
You shouldn't believe it because it's not true. Mining secures the network by making it computationally difficult to reverse or alter transactions after the fact, which is extremely useful. I think what Jacce meant was that mining has no use outside the context of the payment network, which is technically true, but misses the point completely.

Yes, that was my point, but I wasn't sure exactly how to say it (not a native english speaker). And you're right that it's good for the coin, but if the coin itself doesn't have any real value then it's pretty much useless because the mining (with a few exceptions) don't do anything useful except helping the coin.

http://free-btc.cu.cc/rotator/

Hello!
I am proud to announce a new faucet rotator under the URL http://free-btc.cu.cc/rotator/ (if you think the URL is difficult to remember, you can also use this short link: http://bit.ly/faucetrotator).
I know there are many faucet rotators that stands out, but this one has some features that stands out (and more might come later).

Features
  • Many faucets and other sites to earn free bitcoins (70 as of now)
  • The websites are sorted in 7 easily navigatable menus (one for normal faucets, one for Microwallet faucets, one for PTC sites, etc)
  • Timers to see when it is time to view the websites again
  • You are able to see all the websites and choose which ones you want to visit, instead of having to go through every one
  • You can easily see which faucets/websites that are the most profitable (the further up in each category, the more it pays. You can also see how much they pay when you hover over them)
  • Settings (you can turn off the ads, the timers and also use some simple filters to only show sites that pays at least a specific amount)
  • And at last, also a blacklist so you don't have to see the websites you don't like

If you want to contact me (for example if you want to see your website added, if some of the values are incorrect or you discovered a bug), just PM me or check the e-mail address on the website after clicking "Contact" (requires you to fill a captcha to see the full address).

  • Ability to save your Microwallet user and Bitcoin, Litecoin and Dogecoin address and then you can easily press "Copy" in the upper right corner to copy the respective address.
  • Export and import your settings over any device!

249  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A beginners guide to CPU Mining On Ubuntu 12.04 [TuT] on: February 03, 2014, 01:14:46 AM
If you want to mine with CPU, you could at least mine a coin that is only minable with CPU, like Primecoin or Quarkcoin.
250  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie questions on: February 03, 2014, 01:03:52 AM
1. The mining pool and the miners. Mostly the actual calculations don't have any use (except for example Primecoin where you find prime number patterns while mining).
2. Depends on the pool. Where are you mining? Are you sure you are actually mining?
3. No, but almost all new coins are announced on this forum.
