241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - New Update 0.6.42 - Please Update Your Nodes on: July 24, 2015, 04:10:16 PM
To all those who are complaining not having received a stake due to being marked as socks:

We had more then 2800 people who wanted a stake. I think everyone agrees that among those people there were many socks. So we had to act.
When deciding who will get a stake a who not, we had to find a compromise between being too lenient and too strict, the former leading to many socks getting a stake which is unfair to the ones that complied to the rules and the latter leading to many non socks getting no stake which is again unfair for obvious reasons.

But no matter how much effort our team put into the analysis, having so many cases which are unclear always results in some cases where a sock gets a stake and some cases where a non sock doesn't get a stake. Any other team would have faced the same problems. So if you didn't get your stake although you deserved one I am sorry for that, we could not avoid some misjudgements during the cleaning process. I do understand that in this case you are dissappointed/frustrated/angry. But that's life and there will never be 100% fairness anywhere. The decisions we made are final. I think the vast majority of the community will agree that we have to move on.

NEM just received VC funding, how cool is that!

http://cointelegraph.com/news/114932/nem-right-now-we-have-the-best-designed-blockchain-platform-in-existence

So what ?

Ok, lets say that half of the 2800 provisional Stakes have been marked as socks. I' don't have the right numbers, it's just an estimate, but i think it's pretty close.
So, you Devs , are you really underestimating the power of 1400 unhappy individuals ?!?!?!

To save 1000-1400 or whatever close number of stakes that (if we are lucky and if Devs tell the true) will be eventually reinvested in advertise or similar... ?!?!?  Shocked
Are you considering the impact of 1000 more people that invested money in NEM stakes and, at the end, they found themselves getting nothing , and loosing the initial investment too ?!?!
Does it worth having on one hand, 1000 stakes saved from socks, available to grow up NEM visibility and reputation, and on the other hand, having 1000 users angry with the whole word for the treatment they have been reserved ?

Do you know that in 90+% of cases, anyone will post on forums just to complain about something (because is not happy), when the same person would probably never post anwhere just to say he's really happy about something ? Guess why when you are looking for any product review, many times you will find more negative reviews then positive ?  (considering that the positive ones most of the times are fakes).
People never care to share they happiness most of the time. But they are really keen to share their disappointment and anger when something goes wrong. Especially when they believe they've been scammed.

Do you really think I would be here (and like me all the other people complaining about the socks accident) writing THIS, if we could just get the other 2 stakes we bought at the beginning (talking about my personal socks case)....

I could understand devs ruling if the distribution had been completely free..in that case fairness would have been the biggest priority, I agree.  but most of the flags Socks here have invested  THEIR OWN MONEY (even if in a small amount for some of them) in NEM stakes just to realised that, after 12-15 months of long wait, they are suddenly not getting their stakes first, and they are also loosing the initial investment. This is a joke.
And we are talking about fairness here  Huh  AND DEVELOPERS DIDN'T PLAN ANY REFUND FOR THIS GUYS !!!!!!!!! AND THEY SAY THAT DECISION HAS BEEN TAKEN, DECISION IS FINAL, YOU WILL NEVER GET YOUR STAKES FROM US....... WHAT ??!?!?! Shocked Angry Huh Embarrassed
We are not talking about rules or whatever, we are talking about doing something, and do it wisely. There's always a solution. We are always our own limit. So no excuses in saying "it's too late" or "we have to move on".... FOCUS ON WHAT SHOULD BE DONE, WHY HAS NOT BE DONE YET, AND HOW CAN BE DONE ASAP. BECAUSE THERE'S ALWAYS TIME. If we are not talking about death  Cheesy

Be clear that during these considerations, I'm putting real sock puppets and genuine (but flagged) investors basically on the same boat. Because is not really matters of being worried about the fair distribution anymore. This would made sense at the beginning. Delaying this alleged Sockpuppets from getting their stakes at the first day distribution as safety care has been a great idea in my opinion.. but  that's miles away now. And I don't think that , at this stage, anyone with 3-4 stakes could hurst NEM more then what Devs themselves are hurting their creature.

At this point, I'm just wondering, WHO'S DOING NEM MARKETING ?? WOULD THIS PERSON BE ABLE TO APPLY ANY SIMPLE BASIC MARKETING PRINCIPLE TO WHAT HE'S DOING ?
I believe also that ,whoever is in charge for that, will need to talk to most of the Devs that are normally posting here (not talking to all of Devs btw) and tell them that they shouldn't act as they were in charge for the destiny of the world...because they are running a project that is still considerably small.. a project that still needs a lot of visibility. And tell them that they shouldn't upset anyone that seems to have a different point of view form their one. Because in this way they will never learn. Listening is the beginning of understanding.

Be nice with strangers, unconditionally. It won't cost you too much,  and most probably, you will earn something from that.

To conclude, I don't believe the Devs haven't taken in account the power of thousands of angry missed NEM holders spreadying their NEM dislike anywhere,  in both this or any other forum...
But I don't want to say what I actually believe about that  Grin

If you just consider that the Socks concept comes from one of the very first NEM Developer (genius IMO) and that has been heavily applied to get NEM visibility at the beginning  Roll Eyes Well, this must mean something....
What they didn't consider in my opinion is, if they keep acting in this way, their thousands stakes will worth nuts...

Just my 2 cents.

Now I want to see who will be brave enough to flag my post as Spam... because it doesn't want to be that... I believe it's clear enough.

It just wants to give more clarity to someone that's thinking about investing in NEM.
This has been my experience. And consider we are holding 2 NEM stakes with us (so far). So, if I'm doing this, it's really because I don't think it always a matter of money, but I believe sometimes is a matter of fairness.
And trust me, NEM is not as Fair as it claims to be.

If you could not avoid some misjudgements, then you will not avoid consequences of that.
Simply as that. Rules are valid for everyone.
Because this is life...and you will find fairness somewhere, soon or later...

Could you please check the status of my stake? I lodged my claim well before the redemption closed. I sent a pm as soon as I realised I didn't receive it in the initial distribution around April I think. I am at a loss as to why I was flagged as a sock in the first place. I was prompt through all stages of claiming tokens etc. I am a regular on the forum not someone who only logs in to complain about their stake.
....Anyway, redemption and everything ended on 7/22. If you don't have a stake now, you will never get one from us. If you want to know if you have a stake, go look up your address on our blockchain explorer: http://chain.nem.ninja/

Smiley

And from now on, the Red Bold text quoted above is where we will point the everyone attention....on this Forum, on any other forum i Know cares about NEM.
We have stakes, right, we should care about NEM, but well, it's not always all about money. And Devs behaviours and speaks is something that doesn't reflect what they claim to believe in... How would you trust 100% someone acting in this way ?!?
Dear Greedy Devs, Enjoy our 2 stakes we have paid for and that we are never going to received.
We really hope you will be able to buy some morality and ethic with our 4500K NEMs that we will never get from you (Makoto Docet).

Yes, it seems like you are marked as a sock.

IP was linked to weaknesswaran, which got a stake. Fingerprint was linked to spud3861, which also got a stake.
That was in round 2.

In redemption round 1, IP AND browser fingerprints were linked to spud3861, cremstopper, and cords51, which all got stakes. So in other words, you already have 4 stakes. That's enough.

choochimil has a lot of posts now, but at the time of the sock analysis, the account only had 10 posts in over a year.

Anyway, redemption and everything ended on 7/22. If you don't have a stake now, you will never get one from us. If you want to know if you have a stake, go look up your address on our blockchain explorer: http://chain.nem.ninja/

Smiley

So Makoto,
In this case you are clearly allowing one person to hold 4 stakes, saying that "4 is enough".
And in our case, we are 4 people that share the same internet connection at home (all flagged as Socks), you just gave us 2 stakes !?!?!! WTF Huh?!?!!

Be clear that i don't see anything wrong in letting this guy get what he paid for at the time of registration of interesting NEM , especially at this stage, where distribution is over, and there's any big risk of bump and jump anymore, at least nothing that could hurt NEM as it could has been at the launch...
I our case, if you double check, i'm pretty sure you will not find same IP for all our stakes, because at least 2 of the guys involved where oversea when they bought their stake, so they wouldn't be able to use our shared home PC at the time of registration... I'm pretty sure i'm recalling this correctly, even if it was ages ago.
Again. I don't think you spent enough time in the case...
I will never be tired to post and ask clarification here or any other forum, until this situation will not be clarified, simply because i don't think is fair.
And fairness seems to be your motto here.... Huh
FYI, this are our 4 addresses :

NDEDAO-PIQM3N-4A7JJS-ZAS7AX-D23FTD-7ZDVGF-6UEZ      (stake received 2 days ago)
NBVHZC-RRQUT4-6VZO7C-POFZYW-OLZV7W-UKUH4P-BKFW  (stake received 2 days ago)
NCY2AY-KG7A3R-G7HEJ5-D5IT73-RZMIEI-PWQFDF-372V        (STAKE NEVER RECEIVED)
NCS76L-2XBRDZ-XMYK47-B5CANJ-ON76UJ-2YMWFL-VB65      (STAKE NEVER RECEIVED)

Been very patient until now. Not anymore. 6 months and more has been way too much.
It's a pity. Because with my post and all the other flagged socks user posts you are just ruining the NEM reputation. Simply as that.

.........Great news about sock puppets and late redemptions. They are all processed and the last batch is waiting to be sent out in a few days.......

No way!!

You still haven't sent out all the stakes yet!! You all said that over and over and over again. You still have them. Why won't you send these poor people their stakes. They still haven't gotten their stakes? Why are you keeping them for months and months?

I'll be back herein a few days to make sure the community finally holds these devs accountable!!!
This kind of shadiness makes NEM look shifty as all hell!!! What is wrong with you guys.

Give these poor people their stakes. Why would you devs hurt your own coin like this. How stupid can you be?

I will just add that I was flagged as a sock for some reason, and I have not received my stake. I am still hopeful that someone will take a look at my case.

We are in good company here then...
All the 4 stakes for the people sharing house with me have been flagged as Socks (mine included). We asked (without spamming) many times if we have to provide any document or information to demonstrate that we are actually 4 physical individual that, sharing an internet connection and a living room PC,  would  just like to be involved into the NEM party.
Someone just decided that we can only receive 2 of the 4 stakes that we bought at the time. with no explanation about that.
Again, in a really polite way, we asked clarification, offering to provide any kind of information to show our identities, in case was needed.
No reply. Just 2 of the 4 stakes that we legitimately acquired.
What else would you assume from this ?

Then Patmast3r,
Is there any reason why we have been given just 2 stakes instead of the 4 that we should have received ?
IS THERE SOMEONE HERE THAT CAN EXPLAIN ACCORDING TO WHICH RULE OR PRINCIPLE WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN JUST AN HALF OF WHAT WE HAVE PAID FOR ?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Makoto,
I just sent you guys ( you and Pat) a PM regarding the Suckpuppets stakes.
Just wondering if you are still working on that, or everything has been completed.
I've contacted you here on the forum roughly  3 weeks ago and you said that in about 2 weeks or so you would have been able to work it out.
Has been a very long wait for us... impatient !!! Smiley
Please let me know.
Thanks

Patmast3r,
I've tried to contact you and Makoto via PM for the last 2 (edited) 3 months... regarding  my account marked as sockpuppet.
Honestly, in the meantime I really lost any interest in the project, since i've seen that nobody really care about issues like the one I have.
Now, after a long while, I'm back to the forum (curiosity), and I see one of your post as last post. Then I thought "why not?"
I'm back here just to see if it's possible to know WHY you guys acted in this way ?
I've been polite in any of my messages. And you can see I didn't inundate you with PMs... well, Not even a reply. Nothing.
This is the last reply from Makoto:

Thanks for contacting me.

Pat and I will look at your data and get back to you.

More then 2 MONTHS AGO !!!
At this point, i think at least an explanation is what i deserve, since i spent my time to get people involved in this project, and as "thank you", I found my account and my friend's accounts marked as Sockspuppet.
Lets see if this time someone will spend 5 sec of his life to reply.
Thanks (in case this time someone will be so kind to reply)

I'll handle this stuff in the next week or so. I am about 90 PMs behind, so I need some time to get through everything. I'll probably be fairly lenient in returning stakes because of all the time that has taken.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks for you reply Makoto.
We will wait to hear about you soon, than....

I appreciate your replies. Really. Don't get me wrong.
But i don't think this is a professional and honest way to handle issue like this.
I had big expectations. Now not anymore. I think I'll give up.
At least now I have a title for my next blog's post.
Thank you.

What do you mean you are not involved in that anymore ?
Well, looks like I've been already patient for a long while.

I realised a week ago (I was just randomly checking the forum after a while..) that the  Housemates stakes have been listed on the lasted Sockpuppets  that I wasn't aware was exiting btw. That happened most probably because we share the same internet connection and sometimes the same PC in living room.  Then, I contacted Makoto to tell him what happened and the reason why it happened  (we offered to provide documents and identity of each of us), since at the time I helped them with the redemption (no one of them was into altcoin at the time, they didn't had BTC forum account at all, they just trusted me).
And what I get ?!? Now also my address is in the Sockpuppets Sad
This is what you get when you try to be honest Sad
I don't think is fair, because now I cannot get my NEM at lunch, just because I tried to spread the word at the beginning....
Nice way to say thanks. Now we are all stuck.
Don't know if that happened to someone else too.
But this makes me pretty sad today.

Happend to a quite few people.
It's a very unfortunate side effect of the sockpuppet removal. You'll get your XEM afterall if you contacted makoto and explained.
It sux but there's nothing that can be done about it now.

Thanks Patmast3r, I really hope that's gonna happen.... I've contacted him twice already Sad
If I just knew that, I wouldn't have brought in some else into the game. Moreover offer to help with all the process behind redemption.
That's sux. You're right. Smiley nothing that I can do if not just wait.

Hi Guys,
I'm willing to buy 50 Auroracoin for 0.285 BTC.
Otherwise I have some potcoins to trade.

If someone with Trustable history is keen to sell them then let me know ASAP.
I've had few transactions here, and I've just asked the sellers to leave me a feedback.
We can use escrow in the meantime if you prefer. Or if you have very good reputation, I'll go first, as I did in my previous deals.
Thanks

After the transaction is completed you can probably ask the support of DGEX to send you the transaction ID.

So, do you mean that I have to wait to get the Transaction Confirmed (still pending right now) and then request the Transaction ID ??
Thanks for your reply..

BTW, I' really hate dgex....  Sad
