Quick update.

Yesterday I rewrite entire GUI layer for new wallet and get rid of external dependency, build custom controls.  Only one minor annoying thing is support resizing form across platform without hooking wndprc, but I just thought of solution.  In process of rewrite I ditch tab control, because only way on windows to get flat look is to do ownerdraw control and hook into native stuff that doesn't work on mono.  So, now open tabs/apps are vertical list of tiles on left.  Its nice.  Now that message bus is all up and working, tweaking GUI will be easy, so we get this out door and then can improve based on community feedback.

Other thing I work on today is when you open apps, I keep buffer of controls so you can switch between.  And there is Close app button, but when you close it closes from screen but is still on in background, need to dereference.  Otherwise thing like the forum stay running in background.

Other thing also for today is making sure clean shutdown when close, and easy mining UI.

Also got the "monitor" working, so you can watch all messages flying across message buses and watch output from particled and know its working.  Going to add a activity indicator like blinking green light in status bar as way to know its "alive".

So, preview will come out later tonight.  There will still be some things to finish, like pop-up notification in icon in system tray, etc. but at least we can get feedback.  I hope everyone like.

There is block explorer at http://particle.kvvs.nl/.  It doesn't have all API functions of ABE though, one of which supply total coin count needed for market cap website.

Cool!  Total coin count seem maybe little high but not sure.  Do you parse blockchain and accumulate tx outputs to calculate sum?  Or you are doing estimation based on algorithm?


On another note, working on solve small bug with new wallet on Linux.  I use borderless form to make cool look, and custom code to make resize+move on mouse down on windows.  On Linux w/Mono, can't work because no windows message pump.  So window stays in one place.  So, need figure out another way to allow resize + move around form on mouse down that don't require overriding windows messages.  At least it runs on Linux successfully, so now just bug fixes ;-)

Yes, one thing we have is this actually exists and is not vaporware :-)  And I want to push bar forward for all coins.

It is coming soon, I am coding very hard, want to make sure I don't "throw crap over wall" at people, but have nice good stable bug free base.  Running in debugger and I successfully post to bitparticle forum trollbox from within wallet ;-)

What I am hoping is that wallet brings about explosion of ecosystem for apps, app directory sites etc. just like Android.  That is where real opportunities are for community in my opinion.  So next thing in wallet after first version will be to have standard REST interface that sites can implement, and then wallet can talk to to discover apps etc. like Linux repos type of thing.  And then user can browse across app directory sites, pick apps, pull right into wallet.

I really want to do the paper cold-storage "dollar bills" style app next after wallet, so you can load up coins onto printed bill and print out right from wallet, and put in safe or carry etc.  I just think this would be really cool, personal want I guess.  I don't know, I read something about some guy try to patent this.  Like try to patent water or paper.  Ugh.

New cross platform wallet with ability to integrate apps/plugins.



Working hard to get initial version ASAP trying for tomorrow for preview testers.  And then build/grow on top of it.

It is by popular demand / community requested change to mining algorithm, so I implemented it.  Calculations for block reward will change, and therefore the blockchain will change as new blocks are generated, this is called a "hardfork" because the new blocks are different than if they are written using the old algorithm.  So it is important for everyone to get on new wallet so everyone is using new algorithm and nobody get left behind on old chain.

This is simple update, makes adjust of block reward algorithm per community request, and few minor fixed/updates.  At block 60,000  new algorithm goes into effect, so must update before, otherwise you see out of sync message etc.  So update now, and all is well.  More info in official thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=392804.0

There is.  One of update in 0.8.7.3 is I updated alert key to broadcast emergency message.  But it only show message in status bar of client.

If you don't update, when tickover occurs user on old client will see out of sync message in client, etc. and will look scary.  Then they will of course go looking what happen and then update.

But better to update now, before happen, avoid scary message, and then all is well.

Have about 20 hours I think to update before 60,000.

Forum is back up with trollbox working.  :shake head: phpbb3 such pain in ...well.  It gives headache for simple thing.

Faucet is great idea!  Maybe simple solution is just put personal PRT address next to faucet donation address?  Sure some people would then tip you.  You need to have anti-botting/anti-abuse code, check ip / user agent / etc. for protect against people create many addresses switch IP and collect over and over.  Captcha is ok but there are services with people sit and solve captcha, run through bot maker script, Magic Submitter, etc. although who know if someone that desparate for faucet ;-)  Also if I were build I would keep donation wallet not on server, and trickle feed as need.  Just some thought.

I understand problem you have, it is because I put 512x512 image in wallet, is too big for netbook screen (I have netbook too and tried) and QT don't shrink image automatic.  My main machine 1920x1080 so I didn't notice at first.

Will have another incremental version for rebranding, and will make smaller in Qt wallet so you can resize down, I know it annoying.


Also for forum, I reduce minimum password length to 10.  I think this ok?  I still recommend you use big password.  I use generator tool.  But, if you want you can use short one, but you take risk.

Ah.  Good lesson for young.  No such thing as the easy money.  Must always do hard work in everything.  Don't gamble to chase easy money or get rich quick.  Gamble for fun, only little bit and know to walk away.

Once I was at conference I walk in I think Aladdin in Los Vegas (I think it blew up now), I win $3k US on duck game in lobby, random for like 20 US.  So I go fancy restaurant and get steak, lobster, yum!

500k PRT... one day maybe worth $560k-$2.8m US if PRT=.0014-.007BTC @ 800$US/BTC.  Must not treat so lightly.  Right now we are low on coinedup, but this is temporary.  Look at chart, most are not dump but holding wait for developments.

Also must have patience long time.  Know when to wait for materialize and not haste.

So, I am put a little PRT into wallet.  I write weedoge on and put in my drawer.  One day, maybe or maybe not you get message and pay for college.

Marketnet.  Decentralize market like classifieds.  This will be future feature in wallet (have to make new wallet release first...).  There are some challenge to work out, like how deal with bad items some user may not like on their node.  Not entirely sure yet how to deal and not centralize.  Think of some kind of filter and block ability for individual user, can choose not to store or forward things.  But get tricky.  But, this to be tackle after advance wallet release.  1 challenge at a time ;-)

Great!  Wallet will need particled for mac osx, not sure if was compiled.  New wallet runs its own particled engine behind scenes, is transparent to user but is need component.

New wallet is cross-platform desktop wallet.  This will drop next week.  Will send to a few people first as beta/preview shakeout, need a Mac tester I do not have VM with Mac OSX yet.  Will have to you this weekend.  Have solution coded and tested for capture daemon behind scenes, works nice and means user don't have to worry about it, it all bundled together and "just work".  Working on user settings/customize load/save, remember window size/position, little things that make nice, etc.

Mobile wallets like for Android/iPhone etc. will be sometime down road in future.

Need to make hit list of services to stand up.  Maybe plugin for phpbb or something to track.  Need infrastructure up in place.  Miami Bitcoin Conference in 10 days, maybe can capitalize on what sure to be spike in publicity/interest.  Then next big conference in March.  Can ride the waves.

Some things:

1. I paid guy to make local exchange but no deliver.  Need Local exchange like localbitcoins with web service or REST API so we can make plugin right in wallet.

2. Need research see if open source "app store" type back end website exist for people to upload user made wallet plugins.  Could then in future version have the "store" or directory in the wallet to find add-ins and install.  Plugin format is compressed with image,assembly that implement interface, metadata file.

3. Another plug-in idea:  paper bills creation like this (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=219375.0) from within wallet, obvious without scratch and sniff part.  Great for stupid-simple offline storage way that people can relate to.  Would be cool if can create own templates for "bills".

4. Wallet add-in for display charts from cryptocoincharts.info like (http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/v2/pair/prt/btc/coinedup/10-days).

5. Wallet wrapper around external miner to make easy for people point-click-join pool-manage external miner.  I know how to capture Windows console w/ p/invoke, need to see if Mono has cross platform way.  I think this is killer feature to get newbie into pool mine Particle.  Just download external miner, tell it where is, put in pool info, click button.

6.  Need ABE up so can get on market cap website.

7.  Need integrate with payment solutions

More out of my mind as it comes.  Need get that big ball rolling for gain momentum!  Then it will roll on its own.  First will get site done, forum up, ABE up, video post produce.

I want to see listed on coinmarketcap.com.  In order to request, need a place with total coin count so they can scrape.  ABE does this, going try get working ABE ASAP.  Good visibility on market cap site.  Make good progress on content and server for forum.
