What do you guys think of the name DansList (symbol "LIST" )?
Decentralized Autonomous Network.
Or really (anything)list.
I just like the LIST symbol and its fitting associations.

Good points that you bring up, plus if we get the categories and filtering integrated
- it seems like a similar name would go with the "feel" of it.
The only problem I see with just a (prefix)LIST name is people might not identify it as a coin right away.

It succeeds at maintaining a neutral image while containing  both common goods and illicit services

I think that is the key to this.

ListCoin

I personally don't see what is so bad with SYN (Sling, your network)..
People don't immediately think of "sinning" because of the spelling.
Plus it keeps kind of the intention of crypto currencies in general, (being the people's network, coin)

242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Why is "bagholding" seen as a negative thing? on: June 19, 2015, 02:42:30 AM
I wouldn't have half the money I have now if I didn't "baghold"

Hopefully get some time to work on catagories this weekend and will look into making keyword filters as suggested.

Been really busy irl otherwise I would of put them in earlier.

That would be great!  I wish I could help work on it, but still studying programming  Undecided

Latest crave sync'd great for me,  but after running for awhile it crashed with this:

Code:
crave-qt: /usr/include/boost/thread/pthread/recursive_mutex.hpp:110: void boost::recursive_mutex::lock(): Assertion `!pthread_mutex_lock(&m)' failed.
Aborted

Any update on this error I get?

I haven't seen the error again, but just wondering what it may have been...

whats up with all the sex and adult stuff in the market?, i guess there is a lot of sexual items among the BCT altcoin community.

If there is going to be categories,  I suggested that some type of keyword filter and/or some type of spam filter be used to sort "things" into categories.

So.. maybe soon all the sex stuff can get filtered into the porn/sex categories.

I'm guessing this could be handled client side - when the wallet receives the listings?

XILK - you can only pronounce it as Silk.
Why the rebrand ideas though?

I think he (they?) wanted to get away from the SilkRoad / Slingroad similarity.

So I don't think XILK "silk" would be that in favor also.

Is that because I'm running other wallets at same time?

I think using of "X" in logo or name is professional.

I like that idea..  "X"  is like a variable/mutation-able to people's needs..
 SlingX !

I was just going to ask how to disable address index,  and see ICM posted a fix already!

Damn that's fast !  Thanks !!  Grin

Sling & Crave  plus you get great goods markets with new developments.

Its nice to see coins that have more immediate "use value" being created!  Cool

Thanks for the info and explaining the syncing the issue!

Makes it clearer with what it is going on,  thank you

I think the easiest solution would be a mandatory update and do blockchain pruning that would cut out those blocks that we can't sync past.

Maybe that's what ICM has in mind already, I don't know..

256  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CRAVE 1st POS Masternodes | Dark Assets | I2P | Market =Embrace The Dark= on: June 16, 2015, 02:20:59 PM

Just dont download the latest blockchain file if you do not trust  starin. It s not worth to talk much

Its not that I don't trust him or anyone,  I just trust the network blockchain and the purpose of checking against it - the security for this financial software.

And its not possible to have a virus,  you can change the data which I guess is being mislabeled as a "virus" but not a virus in a technical sense.

My problem is, I brought this up weeks ago and it seems everyone wants to overlook this.

If there is a fix, why not release it soon so at least all the people having problems can sync [correctly] their wallets?

Its a pretty important thing.

Or possibly a user controlled "flagging" system similar to craigslist?

"X" number of flags would equal a listing being changed/sent to spam category.

I think it would be the first coin to implement some kind of spam control/filters like I've mentioned.

Simply changing transaction data and a virus are two different things.

Plus I never said you actually did either.

I just don't trust data that isn't verified against the network blockchain!!

THE WHOLE REASON BEHIND CRYPTOCURRENCY !!

259  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CRAVE 1st POS Masternodes | Dark Assets | I2P | Market =Embrace The Dark= on: June 16, 2015, 12:51:49 PM
Still can't sync the wallet either, plus I don't want to download some possibly tampered blockchain from someone.

Can't import bootstrap.dat either.

Hoping for fix soon.

Wtf man? Ive been uploading blockchain with virustotal everytime when someone requested. You are just being mean.

And cool down guys. ICM already said he fixed the error and it will be included in the next release.

VirusTotal is not going to detect if someone tampered with blockchain data.

It looks for executables and malicious code,  its not going to verify transaction data against a network blockchain !
(The whole purpose of having importing bootstrap.dat or checking against the blockchain.. if you're just using someone else's blockchain data without checking against the network blockchain - that is where problems can occur)

If someone is messing with transactions, you could lose coins.

Not being mean, just stating facts.

You're actually defeating the purpose of having consensus blockchain and the whole idea behind decentralized cryptocurrency when you just use some individual's blockchain !

Just a thought on categories..

Could you have it so when people make a listing, it would automatically filter into certain categories based on certain keywords?

Like all the "GIANT ASS DILDO" listings would be filtered into the "Joke/Spam listings" or maybe "Porn" category ?

Or if it can't determine where a listing should go, then it can go into "Undetermined listings",
that way we get rid of all the spam and crap words that people can't type correctly.
