241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [TEK] TEKcoin 40%+ SuperStake in 30+ days on: August 22, 2014, 06:22:18 PM
To the gentleman who is getting the block index error, I suggest moving your wallet.dat to a safe place and try to sync from nothing at all. If that works, then delete the new wallet.dat and copy the old one in. That should solve it. If not, PM me or Thundertoe, we'll get you sorted.
even without config directory (~/.tekcoin), i get the same error...
the old wallet syncs the chain without problems, thank you.

edit: both new and old wallets are linked against berkeley db 4.8
242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [TEK] TEKcoin 40%+ SuperStake in 30+ days on: August 22, 2014, 10:33:02 AM
hi, after backing up ~/.tekcoin i did the following:
Code:
$ git clone https://github.com/maxxine/TEK
$ cd TEK
$ git checkout TEKv2
$ qmake tekcoin-qt-linux.pro
$ make
[...]
$ ./Tekcoin-qt
but i get "Error loading blkindex.dat" message and exits, the same happens if i remove everything but wallet.dat...
could somebody please tell me what i did wrong?
thank you

compiled both qt and command line wallets and both stops complaining about wallet corruption (yes, i've deleted ~/.gryfencoin more than once, no change):
Code:
GryfenCoin: Error loading wallet.dat: Wallet corrupted
any idea?

ps: i'm on linux

Hey,

Just to clarify, make sure you install all packages, etc as noted in 'install-ubuntu-14-04'. You may need to also install packages, "libqrencode3 (3.4.2-1) AND qrencode (3.4.2-1)" Once this is complete, edit in text editor file 'gryfencoin..conf-solo_mining' and change the PW within file. Rename file from 'gryfencoin..conf-solo_mining' to 'gryfencoin.conf'. If you do not have any coins minted as of yet, remove the wallet.dat file from ./gryfencoin and enter terminal, directing towards wallet folder and run './gryfencoin-qt'.

Please let us know if this works!

Best wishes!

all dependencies are in place else the qt wallet wouldn't compile, anyway as mentioned i've also build the command line daemon (gryfencoind) and after setting rpcuser and rpcpassword into ~/.gryfencoin/gryfencoin.conf, it just exits with the above quoted error...
sorry but i don't trust binary blobs so i didn't try your linux build...

Some people here sound like he own them the miner.
no, i don't think like that, i was just wondering about the reason for no source code release, i've got it now...
246  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCN] Cryptonite | 1st mini-blockchain coin | M7 PoW | No Premine on: August 20, 2014, 12:02:05 PM

what's the reason then for leaving linux users behind for more than a week (even for testing since the purpose is ironing out eventual bugs)?

The reason is he made the miner and he can do whatever the fuck he wants.

Maybe he shouldn't release code for linux user.
that is exactly my point!
thank you for confirming  Grin
247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCN] Cryptonite | 1st mini-blockchain coin | M7 PoW | No Premine on: August 20, 2014, 11:44:54 AM
Maybe you could give the 2nd XCN(maybe the 3rd, if include the dead minipool) pool a try. http://xcn.theblocksfactory.com/

But I did actually! Unfortunately, this pool is not working with the CCMiner binary from DJM34 (last checked yesterday).
Once that's fixed, I'll be certain to give theblocksfactory another go.  Wink
~ Myagui

This pool works with catia's miner, but not with stratum implementation of ccminer, very strange.

Code:
Stratum authentication failed
...retry after 30 seconds
Could someone give a hashrate compare of CCMiner with catia's Cudaminer?
@djm34 : Do you have a plan to release the source code for Linux User?
he's holding it because linux users had a clear advantage with catia's miner thus his logic is that windows users have to catch up first  Roll Eyes
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=167229.msg8436560#msg8436560

He is holding it because he doesn't like to release crap. Not sure what you don't understand.
but he did release 5 revisions of crap (as you call it) for windows users, didn't he?

I said, he doesn't like to release code that is not ironed out as he so mentioned. I don't see the Win versions he has released as crap. The 3 releases I have tested have perfectly worked for me. 4.7 / 4.8 Mh/s with a 750 ti as we speak with the latest v.5 release. Stop trolling boy.
so current windows build works fine and performs about 900 khs better than catia's miner on the same hw, what's the reason then for leaving linux users behind for more than a week (even for testing since the purpose is ironing out eventual bugs)?

edit: in my experience most trolls are the first accusing of trolling...

Just downloaded the new wallet, fingers crossed it will start staking soon  Cheesy

Anyone got some more nodes? Only got one at the moment, thanks.

There are two DNS nodes hardcoded into the wallet. It connects to them as needed.
Peer discovery is a bit outdated but its not something I'm going to be focusing on anytime soon (as its not that important, we are not worried about some sort of 50% attack on the network).

Think I found another bug with the staking system...
trying to reproduce now.

ok, cool. Just downloaded the new wallet from your last link (https://mega.co.nz/#!bUgnwCAS!9RgCJZf2bz2HXGZiIc-4Sn9oIz_Mb_4Xdia6V0ehdm4)
and it still says version 0.7.7.0, can you please confirm this is the latest wallet with the stake fix.
yes, it is...
I'm going to be switching my wallet over to this new one (0.7.7). I advise everyone to do the same.

Announcement

I've made some changes/improvements to the protocol.

I've redone the simple notification system and cleaned up the sloppy bug fix.

This wallet (0.7.6.1) is staking fine now (5 times over the past couple hours for me).
Please do not use the old wallet as you will not receive any staking rewards.

I've now finished some upgrades to the system I had started before my hiatus.
I'm going to be switching my wallet over to this new one (0.7.7). I advise everyone to do the same.

The empty PoW blocks have been reduced to 30,000.
This is where we will be ending the empty PoW blocks to let PoS fully take over.

As well I've made several improvements to the PoS system. The wallet no longer splits up stake amounts except for amounts with less than 8 hours of coin age. The original concept was to split up coins into as many small amounts as possible to help propagate the network.
This is no longer necessary to such an extreme. As the max stake age is 8 hours, any coin that hasn't been minted in 8 hours should not be split in half. If it did, then only half of those coins would receive the full stake age and the remainder would continue to be penalized. If you aren't helping to propagate the network daily that's fine, and you shouldn't be penalized twice.

These changes will also make it lighter on CPU power (much more eco-friendly) and reduce the size of the blockchain (a bit).

Further, the wallet will now combine available stake amounts together to free up transaction clutter.
I'm setting an arbitrary number of 500. This is what your wallet will try to achieve from available stake amounts.

here you go, wallet 0.7.7

thank you tmx, wallet is staking fine now Smiley
i'll upgrade to 0.7.7 as soon the git tree is up to date...

version 1? did you ever release a linux build of this that i'm unaware of? even so, no thank you, i don't trust binary blobs...

edit after your edit: please explain the bad logic
then use catia version in the mean time, it isn't like if there wasn't a m7 linux version around.
bad logic: your profitability things...
ok, you made clear you rules and don't mind a shit about releasing the code, don't worry i won't bother you anymore...

edit: i wonder how many are comfortable with installing binary blobs on their hardware, hopefully you don't have your wallets on the same pc...
There are delays, if you can't understand it, go troll elsewhere.
Apparently nobody complained so far... and the reason you bring that is just because you can't using it  Grin

and regarding your profitability excuse:
xcn: wasn't minable at start for win users because of a problem with the wallet
xcn first gpu: linux only for a week.
We never heard you complain when you had a clear advantage over win users... so spare us the profitability excuse and wait that testing is over.
amen

new test release of the m7 for windows: https://mega.co.nz/#!8RsDiJxY!61uRgJmlkr-Y_mwaE0HrCrzI-O85s71qhvW3f7kM3uQ

You should get +350khash/s on top of what you were getting with the 750ti
There shouldn't much difference for the other cards
too bad the profitability will lower even more by the time you'll finally (if ever) release the source code...
You can use the version 1, the hashrate is much lower if you want  Roll Eyes

sorry I won't enter into a debate triggered by bad logic...

skunk, maybe you were just unlucky finding stake blocks. afaik there is still PoW mining on until block 100000 to make sure the network is not stopping in the case there are not enough coins staking.

edit: I have my coins on linux, too. I run premineplusd and they stake very well.

hmmm... so there are over 79k pow blocks left... maybe you're right, just bad luck...
thank you all, hopefully themightyx will be back soon from vacations to enlight me why most of you are staking but me...

skunk, your wallet could be locked and/or encrypted? Dunno but as far as I know locked wallets can't stake.
it's unlocked as you can see from this snapshot
did you do any transaction?the coins should be matured before they start staking
nope, the only transactions i have are the giveaways and the 6 stakings...
the wallet is running unlocked since the distribution began...
the only difference with most of you is that my wallet runs under linux, and no, i don't have a spare windows box...
