241  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should mentally unstable people be allowed to gamble? on: December 28, 2023, 07:40:09 PM
My question now is are there any moral, ethical or legal obligation to bar a person from gambling after physically observing that he is mentally unstable?

AFAIK there is no policy prohibiting persons who have mental disorders from placing their bets like everyone else. Personally, I have never seen a disturbed person come into a casino or bet shop but then again I have not gone to a physical casino in years. I think it is possible for someone like that to come into a bet shop and gamble without causing up drama but it’s a very difficult for that to happen in a casino. I doubt the security would let him past the doors. It will be bad for business as other players may not be comfortable.
242  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should security be employed in local bet shop? on: December 27, 2023, 10:06:56 PM
For those persons who prefer gambling in local bet shops instead of gambling online. I know that most times some persons carry huge sums of money to come to gamble and I understand that if it was a local casino there would be securities. Now, in the local bet shop, why are there no securities? I know a local bet shop close to where I reside. There are no securities there and there are people who act strange and mentally unstable there. They could cause fights, noise, and cheat. So for other persons to feel safe betting there I think securities should be employed there.
It’s the same in my country. The shop owners mostly rely on the police and local security for protection. They do not have CCTV or security men yet there is hardly any case of robbery. I think criminals know it’s not worth the risk robbing a Bet shop with customers in it, how much can you realize from such an adventure. The kind of people who go to Bet shops are not the type to mess with, if you are caught stealing, you may be beaten to death before the police arrive. It’s not worth the risk.

Though it’s common to hear stories of break ins in the night and robbers stealing tvs and computers. It’s also difficult to sell this items because they are usually marked with the casino’s name all over.
243  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tips to avoid compulsive thoughts related to anxiety on: December 27, 2023, 09:43:23 PM
Anxiety comes when you risk money you can’t afford to lose. Gamblers should adhere to this principle “Do not risk money you cannot afford to lose”, I say this often when someone say they are gambling for fun or for pleasure, they are likely betting money they can afford to lose. But when you cross that line and start playing games with your savings or money meant for your bills, anxiety will surely come because the stakes are too high.

As a gambler you need to learn how to deal with losing because it is a constant thing in gambling no matter how good you are, you can’t win every-time. People who haven’t learnt how to handle losses often go into sensual and keep on gambling until they lose it all
244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A kid makes millions by investing in Bitcoin and Ethereum on: December 27, 2023, 03:17:34 PM
I think I have seen this kid speaking on a Tedx talks once. I didn’t know the backstory then. I usually take stories like this with a pinch of salt. Anything can be fabricated on the internet nowadays, my thinking is what is the goal of this person giving me this information. Is this kid trying to sell crypto courses or premium trading groups? Is he launching a crypto project? It’s usually one of those. I won’t be surprised if there some older gentleman pulling the strings behind the curtain. This could be a wonder story developed to get people’s attention.
245  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lack of proper knowledge on casino games increases chance of loss and reduce fun on: December 27, 2023, 02:52:01 PM
I think people want to try something new to increase their chance of winning. Some people are stuck with sports games all their life and has been betting but they have never win a huge money to actually tell people about their gambling experience but the problem is casinos don't have a trial or demo for those games and because we don't have such kind of games in our environment make it difficult to win this games. In places like Asia, literally this games are what they play everytime and they don't even like sports like we do here.
You can’t win them all, my friend. There is a higher chance of winning in sports betting than on slots and virtual games. Your winning percentage depends on 70% analysis and 30% luck. I don’t understand what you mean by casinos don’t have a trial or demo mode for games. Most do. If you’re playing on a casino that doesn’t have one especially for new games, then you should try playing on another casino.
246  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: biggest misconception about Cryptocurrency? on: December 27, 2023, 02:39:33 PM
I think we are all in agreement when we say the biggest misconceptions about cryptocurrency is the “crypto can make you rich overnight” myth. It is the most common misconceptions that people have and many have invested in cryptocurrencies (bitcoin and altcoins) with the intention of making their money back in tenfold.

Another misconception that is also popular is “Bitcoin is a scam”. I think this narrative comes after the first misconception has taken its course. People feel crypto is a scam because they did not get the immediate results they hoped for after investing, some even lost their funds investing in altcoins. Another set of people who believe this myth do so not because they lost money to alts or trading but they blindly believe the negative news they read about bitcoin on the internet without fact-checking.
247  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I got scammed by whatsapp contact and exchange on: December 26, 2023, 08:13:09 PM
Perhaps a promise of an even bigger deposit soon might convince them to allow you to withdraw even a little for now?
I’m sure the scammers are not going to fall for their own trick. OP just lost $40k, that’s close to owning one whole Bitcoin. He could have just bought Bitcoin and hodl. It pains me that someone would lose such an investment to scammers but there is nothing we can do. I am even more pissed at the fact that OP waited till he was in deep before coming to make a thread about it.
248  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lack of proper knowledge on casino games increases chance of loss and reduce fun on: December 26, 2023, 07:24:34 PM
The goal when gambling is to win. One of the ways is increase your chances of winning is by playing games you’re familiar with and good that. Before trying out a new game, you should first learn the rules and how the game works and the easy way to do that is by playing the demo. Gambling aside from sports betting is purely based on luck, and the probability of you winning a game where you have no clue what you’re doing is very low.
249  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It is you who can't stop betting. on: December 26, 2023, 06:08:21 PM
OP I don’t think you understand the meaning of addiction. It’s extremely difficult to quit an addiction even if the addict has come to terms that they have a problem and it’s affecting their lives. Saying anyone can choose to stop gambling at any time is a ignorant statement. Gambling addiction is a serious problem and some medical experts have classified it as a mental disorder. One needs more than self will and discipline to quit gambling, it’s not enough that you want to stop, you have to totally avoid situations that trigger your urge to bet.
250  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: New Trends Among Beginner Traders on: December 26, 2023, 04:22:11 PM
The reason anyone would do this cannot be far from making money. I have seen this so many times and greenhorns usually do this for a couple of reasons. It is possible they don’t have money to trade so they post their trades online to get someone who’s willing to risk giving them money to trade on their behalf and get a monthly commission for their investment. Some new traders are pretty good and have a history of successful trades, they become greedy and want to x3 their capital but don’t have the funds to do so. Their only option is to attract investors to give them money to trade for an agreed ROI.
251  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: In The Span Of six months what will make you trust a new casino on: December 26, 2023, 02:41:17 PM
Launching a review and signature campaign on the forum is a promotional initiative for the site, it doesn’t make me trust the casino. I would be convinced if the casino has a long standing campaign history on the forum because that would mean they have solid reputation around here but for a new casino, no.

In my experience, scam casinos care more about promotions than resolving problems with their reputation. So definitely a casino with zero complaints or scam accusations would be my top pick.. There are many scams casinos online, you can see a lot of threads on scam accusations pertaining to mostly withdrawal problems and so on. As a precaution, it’s important to check for scam accusations on and off the forum.
252  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Between Physical and Online Gambling which makes a person more addicted on: December 25, 2023, 08:42:51 PM
The major difference between online casinos and physical casinos is the ease of access that online casinos provide. You can be anywhere and still be able to play slots, cards or sports betting. These sites are all available on mobile phones which means a gambler who is trying to quit will experience difficulty in doing so because he’s in constant battle with himself not to open his phone browser and gamble again.

I have met people like your friend in real life. I don’t think they have a gambling addiction, most of them I’ve met gamble for fun. It’s usually little stakes that don’t really cost much.
253  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin is highly uncertain on: December 25, 2023, 07:28:52 PM
Bitcoin and fiat can coexist. One doesn’t have to be obsolete for the other to exist. Right now, people use bitcoin as a currency in different parts of the world. The future of Bitcoin is looking good, everyday more and more people are getting into crypto. I believe when people realize the benefits of decentralization, they would flock to Bitcoin. AI technology did not receive the kind of opposition from governments, Bitcoin isn’t as mainstream as it should be because of government propaganda.
254  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some tips to help protect yourself from crypto scam on: December 25, 2023, 06:57:43 PM
OP I think you need to review the reasons why you’re here. Are you a reporter? Because all you seem to do is create topics from content posted by Binance without adding anything new to the discussion. Even though it’s not against the rules and cannot be considered as plagiarism because you added links to the original source, it shows that you’re not adding value to the forum.

So far, you have made four of these topics today citing Binance.com as the original post, all these posts were made in 1hour. It’s not difficult to know posts where the author worked hard on.
255  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have a "gambling problem" which you can sometimes control for years? on: December 24, 2023, 08:23:26 PM

We are not sure if all those who said that they are only playing for fun are not lying. Or maybe they only change through the years? But, I'm sure that nothing is perfect and they can still make a mistake sometimes. This also applies to you.
If I could get a dollar for every time someone here says ‘ I only gamble for fun’, I would be a millionaire. Let’s be honest, gambling is not a recreational activity, that’s your hard earned money you done stake on the table. If you want to have fun, go to the movies. Gambling is only fun when you’re winning but when you start to lose, that’s when the monster comes out. The problem gamblers face is their need to want to feel a win, the euphoria of winning is what many are addicted to.
256  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would happen if BTC were to be adopted as a global reserve currency? on: December 24, 2023, 07:57:00 PM
What should we be suspicious of? The real question is why aren’t governments making Bitcoin legal tender in their states. So far only El Salvador and Central African Republic are the only countries where Bitcoin is officially used as a currency. I believe that if the rest of the world adopts Bitcoin, it will hasten the growth of bitcoin. I can’t think of a negative outcome should governments adopt Bitcoin

People say they gamble for fun, I don’t. I love the adrenaline rush that comes from winning. Gambling hasn’t affected my personal life in any way. That’s because I don’t gamble above my means. I’m a football fan and hardly miss weekend bets on matches played. Its easy to bet on football because I know the players, I know the teams and I know the leagues. Even if I lose, it’s familiar territory and I know I can get a win next week.
260  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Has gambling ever whispered you with different strategic prediction measures? on: December 21, 2023, 11:35:34 PM
It’s hard to make your own luck when playing slots, the slot machine is programmed so the player has less than 45% success rate. I’m very superstitious when it comes to gambling whether it’s slots or playing a deck of cards, I always lean into the idea that something greater than myself is rooting for me to win. Every gambler at some point believes in good luck charms, it’s part of the trade.
