241  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling by financial dependents. on: January 29, 2024, 09:39:16 PM
If I am to be among the parents of the boy I will not give him money anymore because he's not ready yet.
Moreover, the age of gambling is 18+ and he's just 18 years old and have no money but depending on his families to give him money and after that he's using them to gamble.
The boy is not ready to make a better life, God helps he's not addicted yet or putting his hope for winning big money that he can make living from it.

I see this option as a very strict one that might have some negative consequences. This strategy might work in some occasions especially if the cause of his addictions is because of access to funds.  It is also important to know that there are still other reasons why dependents engage in gambling.  It could be peer pressure which will not definitely be stopped by stopping his funds. These youths might seek for alternative source of funds if the parents do not identify and deal with the main cause of the gambling.

You’ve got a point on that option taking a darker path as the dependent child, not getting access to funds like he previously did and perhaps, has already taken a deep unhealthy liking to gambling as an activity, such child would be forced to acquire money any way he could possibly could including stealing from friends and family and burglarizing houses looking for valuable to pawn for cash.

I would suggest the dependent child that’s 18 to get a job and earns his own money. He would learn the value of money that way and then, might just get wise to how he handles money moving on.
242  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Land-based Casino Enjoyers are something else. on: January 26, 2024, 05:13:41 PM
I gotta say man, I know gambling for some people is bad but when they say it's bad I didn't think it'd be this worse lol. Oh well, all the more reasons to avoid the land-casinos I guess.

It’a such people you should avoid and not necessarily the land based casinos. There are some weird ass people out there and online casinos has shielded us from ever meeting such individuals. There are some gamblers who having had an unexpected and unwanted outcome, would react very strongly and differently from the average gambler. Such people are found everywhere. Physically in the land based casinos and on the online casinos we’ve got today.

People just have different ways of reacting to unfavorable news. Especially when money used to gamble and losing out on was budgeted for something important.
243  Economy / Economics / Re: Food security in the world has been shaken by Russia's actions on: January 26, 2024, 03:58:10 PM
Russians attack on Ukraine cannot tamper with food supply in the world. I cannot agree quite rightly with the data that as generalized.

No country is soly depending on Ukraine for food security. Although, it affects the people of Ukraine, the plan is to subject Ukraine into submission through hunger strikes.

Africans are sufficient in agricultural produces and we equally exports.

Russians baseless attack on Ukraine did in fact disrupt the flow of food supply in the world. Ukraine is said to be the breadbasket of Europe. If you had done a little research, it would be clear to you in just a few clicks, just how grains from Ukraine feeds the world.
It’s literally suicide if a country solely depends on another country for food but it hasn’t stopped a good number of countries from largely relying on other countries like Ukraine for a good portion of their food supply.

Africa would seem sufficient in agricultural produce but it still imports a shit load of agricultural products as well with Ukraine being a good supplier of wheats and grains.
244  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If satoshi shows he has still controll of all of his coins what would happen ? on: January 26, 2024, 01:53:44 PM
Lets assume that by mistake satoshi moves his coins. What would happen to bitcoin?

There’s no moving coins by “mistake”. Any move made would be quite intentional and Satoshi moving his coins would surely cause a stir in the crypto market. Although, the stir caused by a move would depend heavily on where the coins are being moved to.
If the coins are moved to an address of a known exchange, then there’s the likelihood of the coins being sold for fiat or whatever. Now that’s a move that I think its sure to cause some movements in the price of bitcoin. But if it’s a harmless move from an address to another, it would only confirm he’s still alive and kicking and would cause little to no impact.
245  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling by financial dependents. on: January 26, 2024, 12:59:02 PM
Uncontrolled gambling addiction does really terrible things to people, and the most terrible thing is the so-called "depreciation of money." It all starts with the fact that the ludoman does not perceive money as something received for hard work.

For him, money becomes just numbers on the screen, and this is bad, because then his real life completely changes its priorities.

For a dependent who receives pocket change from family and goes on to regularly use it to gamble, such an individual who doesn’t really know how not easy it is for a lot of people to earn money, would spend it without giving much thought to how it’s gotten in the first place. It’s easier to burn through money that isn’t earned and for the dependent making bad financial decisions at a young age, it would be easy to grow having these habits.

When an individual has no sense of earning money and using it for himself, that person would have no value for the money being given.
246  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 26, 2024, 11:56:43 AM
Ok so where Klopp is going next?

Manchester United?

Good question. I sure didn’t see this move coming and I’m curious on his reasons for wanting to end his time at Liverpool. Perhaps he’s tired of English football (or just Liverpool?) and wants something different?
I wonder what’s going to be different in Liverpool when he finally leaves. Who would be suitable for the wide shoes that Klopp would be leaving behind? And what lies ahead in Klopp’s career in the future?

They’ve been speculations on him going over to Manchester United but I don’t see that happening any time soon. I think Man United would still stick with Ten Hag for the moment. But who knows right?
247  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Saudi Professional League 2023/2024 on: January 26, 2024, 11:35:15 AM
However, what we now know is that even though the Saudi League has brought in the world's top stars, apart from Ronaldo there are also Neymar, Karim Banzema and Sadio Mane. Their arrival has indeed had a big influence on the great progress of the Saudi Arabian League to make it more competitive and so too. Saudi must be able to accept the fact that currently its big mission is still very far from being able to enter the top 10 because Saudi is still quite far behind and is currently still in the lowest position, namely rank 27.

The Saudi league is slowly but steadily improving and building up its league, making known its presence in the international stage. No doubt, it’s bound to climb up the rankings as it continues to scoop up players from Europe into its league.
Having Ronaldo alongside other notable players from European clubs playing in its league is one of the greatest move they had made in its bid to increase the popularity of the league. Its goal is probably still far off but they seem consistent and they’ve got the funds to continue building.
248  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling can be a hope restorer if we go about it wisely! on: January 26, 2024, 10:03:22 AM
That is the best thing to do. Wining big and investing it on a tangible thing. I have never win that big in gamble but looking up to someday, and If perhaps I win big i will use it wisely because" opportunity comes but once" it might sound funny but it's a sad truth. Many had the opportunity but think they still have more chances ahead and never achieved their goals do to having a false hope. So every opportunity needs to be handled properly because you don't know when next you might be able to achieve such opportunity ever again.

“Opportunity comes but once” is totally false and in my opinion a wrong mentality to have as an individual. Opportunity comes to an individual numerous times in his lifetime. It’s majorly us who sometimes, can’t recognize such opportunities when they come our way or we were totally unprepared for its arrival and failed to utilize it and follow through.
Many has had opportunities that led to financial success but failed to utilize it properly and fell back to where they began. Such individuals won’t be able to utilize another opportunity even if it comes again. So yeah, every opportunity needs to handled and utilized properly.
249  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you believe in gambling experts predictions? on: January 25, 2024, 08:41:00 PM
There might be an expert on other things but when it comes to gambling no one is sure about what is going to happen. Betting is hard just like the way predictions are hard, we can only predict and wait for luck, we can not force it until it comes on it own.

Many games we don't actually believe end up winning for us but not all the time, sometimes they win and sometimes they don't.

There are gamblers who are good at doing their own research when it’s comes to sports betting. I wouldn’t necessarily call them “experts” but they’re good at going thorough research on the statistics of teams before a game.
But In football, even the stronger team that’s has all the likelihood of winning the game could go on to suffer a humiliating defeat from the weaker opponent hence making the “expert” predictions wrong.
Knowing the stats of both sides helps to make a prediction of a likely outcome. But the outcome is also anyone’s guess.
250  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies how do you feel when your post is criticised. on: January 25, 2024, 07:54:31 PM
I don’t see any reason why a newbie or anyone else would feel hurt whenever someone has a contrary opinion to their thoughts. It brings about healthy discussions amongst members.
Also, there are some threads started by newbies that are redundant and when other members share on the thread their opinions, the newbie feels bad and withdraws back into his shell.

Criticism may be harsh but it’s advice in its purest form and left for the recipient to pick relevant information from the lot. If one gets angry over criticisms, it would be difficult to learn.
251  Economy / Economics / Re: The productive capacities of an individual to the society. on: January 25, 2024, 05:41:50 PM
The economy of a country would be strong if it has a equally strong and robust private sector that is thriving successfully. The private sector would help reduce the burden the government would otherwise have to carry. The private sector helps reduce the unemployment rate and that in turn help builds the economy.

Obviously, we should not have to wait on the government to make good out of yourself but the government has to put in place policies that would help the private sector grow. Aside policies, an enabling environment would go a long way to enable small business start up and thrive. Without a suitable environment as well as helpful policies enforced by the government, there’s little an average individual can do to be productive for himself and the society.
252  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you think gambling every day is better? on: January 25, 2024, 05:16:16 PM
Daily gambling is a bad habit.  Gambling every day will make him addicted to gambling.  If you gamble every day, you will lose one day and another day.  In this his profit will be more than loss.  Gambling drives people to death.  People lose their senses when they gamble.  He has no sense of power.  Gambling is a serious disease.  Once he gets addicted to gambling, he cannot get rid of it.So it is better to avoid gambling.  And if you play it every day it will become addictive.

There are people who I would say unknowingly or perhaps being absent minded, gamble everyday. They’ve been gambling for years and go on to play everyday.
I also think the loss accrued over the years over the course of his gambling activity would be significant. But a gambler with a steady source of income would not realize how much that has been lost over the years but one looking to gambling as a source of income would feel the brunt on his pockets.

It’s easy for one who gamblers everyday to slowly and steadily fall into the clutches of addiction.
253  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Patience can help alot on: January 24, 2024, 11:56:55 PM

Additionally, you can use your patience on waiting before you bet again. Continuous betting can be very risky especially if you've done it in such a haste. Take your time to pause and reflect on it whether it will be a good call to bet once more or to stop and let some time pass before deciding again.

Patience in this case would be very useful. Continuous betting could be risky, mostly for the pockets of the person gambling. Playing continuously without pause, perhaps hoping for a miracle in between would not bring your miracle any closer.
A compulsive gambler is no stranger to this as such an individual plays repeatedly and without much thought on the games being played. A level headed gambler who paused and reflects on the time and money spent gambling would pause and head home when it’s time to do so.
254  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Saudi Professional League 2023/2024 on: January 24, 2024, 09:10:19 PM
Ronaldo is more than just a player for Al Nassr and it seems other than attracting players like Casemiro for their team they even make delay on the friendly games because of Ronaldo. Al Nassr was about to have a friendly match with Iner Miami in this match we could see Ronaldo and Messi in the game but since Ronaldo was injured, Al Nassr delayed the friendly game to have Ronaldo.

Ronaldo as well as Messi cannot be forgotten in a hurry in the game of football. They’ve achieved a lot and has earned the recognition they’ve got.
Ronaldo is obviously an important player for Al-Nassr as they’ve cancelled friendly games cause of him. They know supporters would want to see Ronaldo play.

Both players have left the major spotlight but It’s quite obvious a lot of football fans would like to see both players play against each other again. Thinking along these lines, it’s apparent on why they would delay the friendly match between both teams.
255  Economy / Economics / Re: Pay discrimination on: January 24, 2024, 07:08:06 PM
It sounds that admin earns more than a courier, but in real world it is much different. Courier can make more deliveries, knows bets routes, is ready to cycle for whole day, while admin works 9 to 5 5 days a week for a fix salary.

I don’t know what world In which a courier earns more than a administrator in a company or even a middle level manager in an organization but it’s certainly not the world you and I presently live in.
Couriers may work for longer hours or all day delivering packages and may get bonuses depending on the number of successful deliveries made. The combination of wages, bonuses and tips earned wouldn’t sum up to half of what an administrator in an organization would make for working same hours.

Just about anyone who could drive okay could get a job as a courier but not everyone could successfully manage and run smaller units or the whole of an organization.
256  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are newbies afraid to comment on threads of highly ranked members? on: January 24, 2024, 04:40:42 PM
We’re all anonymous on here and you likely  do not know anyone on here. Why should you be scared and then hesitant to discuss and contribute your thoughts and opinions on any thread?
If you’re sure of the information you’re about to share to be correct and factual, then you should be courageous even to share them with anyone. And I’m sure no one would berate you or anything. Instead we’re more likely to add more information to what you’ve already put out.

This thread voices out what you and a lot of other newbies probably feel and It’s not nonsense in my opinion. As long as you’re doing the right thing and more importantly, being yourself; you should learn to care less about what other people would think of you. Not everyone would think nicely of you no matter how nice you are. We’re human and our thought process varies.
257  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The madness of gambling addicts. on: January 24, 2024, 02:57:51 PM
but c'mon there are people who win way more than others without big explanation about it...
crazy things in life.

but yes I don't think this is something you can practice or something like that.

People lives and opportunities gotten in life varies. Some people are just more lucky than others and it’s just the way life is. There are people who have won considerably more than others, there’s no doubt about that and I agree. But I don’t think an individual could be so lucky and go on to have more wins than losses through out his entire gambling history.
No matter how lucky you a gambler is, I don’t think it could happen and I haven’t really heard anyone who actively gambles having more wins than losses. If someone like that happens to exist, that’s a lucky person for sure.
258  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who among you here is gambling at work? on: January 23, 2024, 01:49:48 PM
There's actually nothing wrong with playing at work. It all depends on what you play and what kind of work you actually have. Of course, if you are a neurosurgeon and are performing a complex operation on a patient, then you will not be able to play at this time. You will also not be able to play while driving a car. Although I have heard of people placing sports bets in a car while they were standing at an intersection at a traffic light.
But if you have long natural breaks at work that there is nothing to fill and your work does not require too much responsibility, then nothing prevents you from playing during the break. But I would not recommend playing for money.

I disagree. Gambling, being more of a recreational activity should be done when you’re free, less busy and relaxed. The average employee in the workplace is certainly not free and not even close to being relaxed while at work. My opinion; work hours should be left for work related stuff.
Trying to do anything else aside your tasks could be distracting and one could end up messing up on the tasks that had been assigned to that employee.

People generally play in hopes of winning some money. So if one doesn’t play for the money, why gamble? The thrill of giving away your money to the casino wouldn’t feel so good.
259  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are successful gamblers seen as addicts? on: January 22, 2024, 11:50:23 PM
yes they are gambling addicts, how can he be successful at gambling if he doesn't gamble with the methods and skills he has, anything he will do to win at gambling, in my opinion he is an addict

I would disagree with your opinion. Do you personally think an individual who’s an addict can be successful at whatever he/she does? I don’t think so. In my opinion, Success and addiction are far apart and don’t have anything in common. A gambler who’s addicted to gambling could almost never be successful in the activity as being addicted to gambling, you’ll find such individuals always at the casinos playing away whatever money is in their possession.

A gambler that wins majority of bets placed due to methods used or painstakingly doing some good research to have a somewhat accurate prediction. I wouldn’t say such individuals are addicts.
An addict would rarely be successful in anything especially gambling.
260  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your state on mind if your son stole your money to gamble? on: January 22, 2024, 11:24:40 PM
Stealing is never right. How it’s taken and what you need the money for that led to you stealing is totally irrelevant. Of course any responsible mother would frown at her ward stealing and would try to kill that habit in her child.
Your question on if the mother would have remained angry if the kid had won a huge amount with the money he stole. A responsible parent should not fail to reprimand their kid even if that child had won a life changing amount with money that was stolen.
There is no justifying the act of stealing and if I were the parent, my kid would be well aware of my displeasure and is sure to learn a lesson that stealing someone else’s property is never acceptable.
