[...]
The game is still a close one because PSG can score two goals and decide to not come out to play again but pack the bus which will be difficult for Barcelona to score and PSG will win the quarter finals to move on to the semi finals.
It's as if it's easy to score two goals against Barcelona. Parking the bus against that team isn't that effective either as only a few teams could achieve that. I think this is going to be an open game with PSG on the attack from kickoff and that's also when Barca will counter.
Adopting a defensive style in this kind of match will be a wrong approach. The best way to defend is to have a good defensive midfield and an effective counterattacking force. I doubt any of these teams will play defensively because they both play attacking football. Notwithstanding, PSG will be playing under pressure because they lost at home and the coach might lose his job if they are knocked out of the competition. Barca can capitalise on the pressure to get a good result. I will not be surprised if any of them move to the semi-finals because they are qualified to be there.
242  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: After losing the money in gambling, what is your strategy on: April 16, 2024, 12:23:42 PM
The gambling is the game with both the possibility, but most of us fail to understand the possibility of losing in the gambling. So if the gambler get into the gambling,in the behalf he had agreed to lose the capital on their bad luck. Some new gamblers most feel this way of thinking after the loss in the gambling, but the experienced gamblers will ready to move on,because they know with their knowledge he can make the big money in some day.One if my friends had loss nearly 2000$ in the gambling, because of his loss even his family suffered a lot in financially.Even his family not able to afford to pay their rent for their house for the few months.
Using the word capital in gambling might be inappropriate because gambling shouldn't be seen as a business or investment. It is not wrong to expect wins from gambling but it is not proper to depend on gambling as a source of revenue because you see it as a business or occupation. Your friend has entered an advanced stage of gambling addiction for him to use his house rent for gambling.

Quote
I had suggested my friend to quit gambling and I had feel that he totally get addicted to the gambling.Which was the cause for the many high risk to get into the complete loss. But he clarify me,he had loss the money because he had follow the same betting strategy with the changing algorithm of the gambling site. From his experience,I had learned we should not follow the same betting style for the changing algorithm.
There is no certainty that a certain gambling strategy would bring wins. It is better to adopt a gambling style that you deem appropriate but it should be strictly with an amount you can afford to lose.

Quote
Now he had decided to start the gambling again with the loan money to balance the previous loss of 2000$.What is your opinion on this,I had suggested him to go to the regular job to reduce the loan in step by step to reduce the loan burden. But he had word of “We can earn,Where we had loss everything “.Share your opinion on this.
Your friend might experience one of the following outcomes; a) lose all the money he borrowed on gambling. b) recover all he had lost, or c) be in a state of financial equilibrium. He intends to pursue his losses and this behaviour has destroyed many gamblers.

some of the countries that are involved in war are being sanctioned by the United States on operating with the Dollars

Dude, I'm glad you mentioned that, because I was going to try to find a thread about those US sanctions and post in it.  I was passing by a liquor store last night and saw a sign that stated that they're no longer carrying Russian vodka.  That caused me to do a double take and then I made the assumption that this was some sort of sanction (even though I'd never heard it announced).  In addition I've noticed that precious metals dealers in the US no longer sell those nice Russian palladium ballet coins.  I don't think that's because they're so much in demand that they're just out of stock.
You are very correct the Chymist, according to the Office of Foreign Asset Control in the US Department of Treasury importation into the United States of fish, seafood, and preparations thereof; alcoholic beverages; and non-industrial diamonds of Russian Federation origin. There is also a ban on the importation of Russian-origin aluminium, copper, and nickel into the United States.

Heh.  Cost of WWW III.  The entire friggin' earth, maybe with the exception of Antarctica, which is where all of the people in power will flee to.
There is a Union called the Non-Aligned Movement. The nations in this organisation are not involved in the East-West ideological confrontation of the Cold War. Although most of these nations are developing, they might be better for people to run to than move to Antarctica.

Well, continuous sanctions by the United States may actually lead most countries to de-dollarization because they may not continue using the USD as a reserved currency when the United States government has already issued them sanctions.
De-dollarisation is not an easy path to thread because the US and its allies dominate the global economy. Nations will always need the dollar for international trade. If de-dollarisation were easy, the BRICS nations would have been the first to adopt such a policy.

Tuchel is going to leave Bayern Munich and that's what we are definitely sure about it. There is no hope for him to stay in the team unless they win the Champions League at the end of this season. Maybe the Champions League can save Tuchel, but even with the Champions League, Tuchel doesn't have a good relationship with some player in their team.
They think about using Nagelsmann for another time and give him the chance again, even Mourinho can be the other option for Bayern Munich.
But it seems other than these two coaches, Zidane is closer to Bayern Munich to work in this team in the next season.
Some news outlets just came up with the news that Bayern Munich had contacted Zidane's agent. But there has been no response from the former Real Madrid coach who has been very reluctant to come back to football. He has turned down so many jobs and prefers to mentor his sons and take some endorsement deals. Bayern will be lucky to get Zidane because he is seen as a legend a player and one of the best coaches of all time. For now, the familiar names to replace Tuchel are Nagelsmann, Flick and Mourinho.

When Kylian Mbappe completes his expected move to Real Madrid this summer, it could have the domino effect of taking Vinicius Jr to Liverpool for a club record fee.
That is according to a report from Sport, which reports that when Mbappe moves to Madrid it will raise doubts about Vinicius Jr’s future at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Source: https://www.footballtransfers.com/en/transfer-news/uk-premier-league/2024/04/kylian-mbappe-vinicius-jr-liverpool-real-madrid-transfer-news

This is something I have not thought about before. I always thought that they were going to play Mbappé as a striker of the team. I personally did not think that they would have any problem with Vini jr and Mbappé both being left-wingers. And I still don't think it is going to be a big problem. I just think that the media is trying to make a big issue out of it so that they can gather some views. I don't think Mbappé is going to have any issues playing as a striker in Real Madrid. I also believe Vini jr is going to perfectly complement him

When Benzema was in Real Madrid there was no problem playing him and Vinicius Jr, there is also no issue playing him with Mbappé. The PSG player can comfortably be converted to the number nine while Vinicius will maintain his natural position. Both of them could also switch positions because they are versatile players.

Anyway, football is also a business therefore anything can happen. Liverpool might see the prospect of selling Salah this season for a good amount and this money could be used to buy his replacement. And if the replacement is Vinicius Jr, it is a great decision. However, I don't think Real Madrid will ever consider selling one of the best attackers in the world. His transfer clause is as high as €1b. Since there is no official reports from any club mentioned in this deal, we can just assume that it is a rumour.
247  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: April 15, 2024, 01:29:48 PM
Our whole current monetary system revolves around debt.  So it does not matter if we are talking about a country, an institution or an individual.

If you are able to utilize debt without over extending yourself while able to service the debt for the purpose of investing rather than consumption, then that is a good use of debt.  There is a difference between using debt for investing versus consumption or even if the investment is into something that has likely abilities to return more than it costs to service the debt versus if the thing that is invested into (or consumed) depreciates in value, so we likely need to figure out how the debt is being used in order to have some better sense regarding if it is a good debt or a bad debt.

Terms of debt can also change, so in that regard, someone with good credit, good cashflow and various other highly valued assets (such as bitcoin) is going to be eligible to receive better terms for their abilities get into debt relationships.  Not everyone is created equal and not all kinds of debt are created equal, and so it is quite likely that the building up of bitcoin as a held asset is going to put El Salvador in a better rather than a worse situation, even though right now, an overwhelming majority of status quo institutions don't necessarily recognize bitcoin as a good kind of an asset to hold.. but they are dumb in regards to bitcoin, and they are going to learn that bitcoin is the most pristine asset that exists, and that is where smart people, institutions and government are (and should be) putting their investments/savings/extra money.

The place of bitcoin as a superior place to put money is asymmetric information that most people do not know or realize, and so the mere fact that other folks don't seem to know about bitcoin or to appreciate its power, does not mean that each of us, whether individuals, institutions or governments should not act upon our having had figured it out early.. and yeah, others are going to catch up, but it might take a while.. 20-50 years or more.
The effect of consuming instead of investing loans can be devastating. I have a firsthand information of the negative effect from my country's experience. My nation took loans from several international lending organizations and was spending them on subsidies and salaries. Close to 75% of the country budget was used for recurrent expenditure, meanwhile 50% of the nation's income is true loans. The country was using these funds to pay for fuel and electric subsidies. Civil servants were also paid with these funds. The minimal revenue generated by the country was now been used for debt servicing. Gradually the country fell into recession and the currency began to lose value.

A new government cane into power and stopped subsidies and reduced the workforce of the government by merging different ministries and parastatals. The government diversified its income by investing more in agriculture and refineries. Government revenue began to increase and debt servicing became less burdensome. Currently, our country has one of the best-performing currencies because of good economic policies.

Bitcoin is a long term investment for El Salvador and shouldn't be sold to finance the loan because it is a viable source of revenue to the government in the future. El Salvador should consider expanding it's economy to different sectors to enable them raise funds to service IMF loans. The nation should also consider reducing the cot of governance to enable them save more funds.

By the way some sources are reporting that defending Israel last night has cost United States over a billion dollar!!! For comparison: a single unit of Shahed-136 costs about ten grands Cheesy
According to a report  from Isreal intercepting Iranian missiles and drones cost Isreal up to 4-5 billion shekels ($1.08-1.35B). Furthermore, One ‘Arrow’ missile which Isreal used to intercept an Iranian ballistic missile costs $3.5 million, while the cost of one ‘Magic Wand’ missile (David's Sling) is $1 million. If this escalation becomes a full-blown war, it will be very expensive to fund. Maybe this might be the reason why the US is persuading Israel not to retaliate. These attacks have already affected the price of gas making it rise. Any instability in that region will destabilise the entire world.

THE IMF IS STILL DEMANDING CHANGES TO EL SALVADOR'S BITCOIN LAW: REPORT

The IMF is insisting that El Salvador should reconsider the country's policy on Bitcoin for them to secure a $1.4 billion loan. Negotiations about the loan have been stalled because of El Salvador's pro-Bitcoin policy. According to the IMF's communications director Julie Kozack, El Salvador has to revisit and amend its Bitcoin policy for negotiation to progress. For two years El Salvador President Nayib Bukele has resisted this pressure and it seems he is not willing to back down on the country's pro-Bitcoin policy. He sees this pressure as a calculated strategy to undermine the country's monetary sovereignty. By tying loans and grants to changes in El Salvador's Bitcoin law, the IMF is showcasing how it influences the economic policies of developing nations.

[Canada] Trudeau's balls are nowhere to be found 🤣

I saw this topic and finally, we have a country that has the balls to curtail the excesses of Israel. This is the first time the Islamic Republic has attacked Israel from its territory, that's great courage. Maybe experiencing a few hours of what Gazians have been experiencing for over six months will make Israeli citizens push out their senseless leaders. It seems America doesn't want to be involved in further escalations.

252  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin Illegal in Nepal? on: April 13, 2024, 06:15:11 PM
As of my last update in January, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies were not explicitly illegal in Nepal. However, the Nepalese government has not provided clear regulations regarding their use or legality. Due to this lack of clarity, the use of Bitcoin remains in a legal gray area. While individuals in Nepal may buy, sell, or hold Bitcoin, they do so at their own risk, as there's no legal framework to protect cryptocurrency users. It's important for individuals in Nepal to stay informed about any updates or changes in cryptocurrency regulations that may occur. Despite the uncertainty, Bitcoin continues to be traded and used by some individuals and businesses within the country.

As with any investment or financial activity, individuals should exercise caution and conduct thorough research before engaging in cryptocurrency transactions in Nepal.

It would have been proper if you added the source of your information because dealing with or using cryptocurrencies is still banned in Nepal. I just checked a few websites and I don't see any news that affirmed that the ban has been lifted. In fact, the Nepal Rastra Bank has periodically published directives that cryptocurrencies are illegal. The telecommunication regulatory body in Nepal has even instructed all internet service providers to block access to crypto-related websites, apps and online networks.

Although in the Serie A standings that Juventus are in a better position compared to Torino but still, a Derby della Mole match like this remains a difficult match for Juventus to be able to beat Torino. Although indeed, there will always be a chance for Juventus to win but yes, considering Juventus recent trends then it looks like it will still be difficult for Juventus to get full points. After all, as far as this match goes also up to the current 40 minutes, that Juventus have good dominance but still, the current score is also still a 0-0 draw. But indeed, Juventus only need to maintain their position in the top four, because to compete with Milan remains a difficult competition for Juventus when the team's situation is still not entirely good at the moment.
The game is still open to both teams. A close look at the statistics shows that Juventus don't have total control the games. They have managed to control the game by 52% and have not been active on the attacks. Torino has been a resilient on the defence which has help them to withstand the attacking power of the Old Lady. The second half might be promising for both sides, I suspect that anyone that gets the first goal might end up winning the match. For Juventus, this match is a must-win and they will do everything possible to win this match. Torino is currently in the ninth position having a slight opportunity to clinch any European ticket but they are still fighting for a place in Europe because it is not over until the league ends.
254  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: When you make mistakes, do not fail to take corrections. on: April 13, 2024, 04:48:19 PM
In Spanish we have a saying, and the translation would be something like: wise men are those who rectify.

On the other hand, some years ago I was told that the sooner you make a mistake, the better. In Europe in general we don't share the American spirit of failure: if you fail, people usually think that you are the failure, and that makes people not take risks for fear of discovering their ineptitude.

Outhue said it well: many people want to avoid failure, but that's the way.
Failing or mistakes are not bad but what you have learned from the experience is more important. There is a proverb that states that you don't die by falling into the water but by staying there. Most people who end up becoming successful make so many mistakes but they understand that each mistake has a lesson. I also made some mistakes as a newbie but I took it as a learning process. People who fail to take correction will not learn more.

Sometimes criticism might not sound pleasing but they are highways for learning and improvement. It becomes a problem when someone keeps making the same mistake over and over after several corrections. So there is a need to keep improving so that you don't keep making newbies' mistakes even when you have spent some time on the forum.
255  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Celebrity Poker Games: Publicity Stunt or Genuine Passion? on: April 13, 2024, 04:13:03 PM
Hey everyone,

I’ve been thinking about the influx of celebrities in the poker world and other gambling arenas. We’ve seen actors, sports stars, and musicians joining high-stakes games, some even participating in world-renowned tournaments. This got me wondering: is celebrity involvement in gambling merely a publicity stunt, or is there a genuine passion for the game behind the scenes?
I see this move as a public stunt because gambling ideally should be a personal activity. Going to the internet to showcase your wins or lose is suspicious. It makes me feel that there are other reasons for gambling. There are so many celebrities who are genuine gamblers but they don't engage in all this publicity.

Quote
Do you think their participation helps to popularize the game and bring it to a wider audience, or is it just another platform for their publicity?
I might not specifically state the reason for these public stunts because none of them have openly stated it. But from my observation, some of them are simply advertising a casino or bet company. I suspect that they usually partner with these casinos and have their own commission when people play games using their codes or through their website.

Quote
Any your thoughts and any stories or cases of celebrity gambling that caught your attention. Have you come across any celebrities who are serious about their gambling pursuits? Or do you feel like these appearances are more for show than for the love of the game?
There are many of these celebrities in my location who usually showcase their games online but they don't have any influence on me. I am in total control of my gambling life. As stated before, some of them might be genuine gamblers while others do that for personal gains. This is why many countries are making laws to restrict these unregulated gambling advertisements.
256  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Win Crypto Rewards While Gaming on: April 12, 2024, 11:55:42 PM
What’s your opinion on this?
I think the appropriate place to advertise your platform should be in the gambling section and not the gambling discussion board. This board is strictly to discuss gambling and not for advertising services. However, you didn't tell us which coins you are willing to give to gamers as rewards. This is because it is common to see these platforms giving out some worthless coins that have no value. So in such cases engaging in these games is usually a waste of time.
257  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you depend on game predictions by supercomputers? on: April 12, 2024, 11:42:21 PM
Yes, and I remember that there were predictions that Brazil would win or be runner-up in the last World Cup. Well, it wasn't even close to a good performance. So I agree that we should be careful with hourly predictions and in sports that have many variables
Gambling wins are not only determined by analysis because luck also plays a vital role. In that last World Cup it would have been hard to believe that Saudi Arabia will beat Argentina, Cameroon beat Brazil and Morocco will get to the semi-finals. I don't think many people would have predicted it just as AI would have failed to predict it because historical analysis or statistics would have been useless

No, AI only use past history to predict the future, while the future isn't only depends by history.

Leverkusen is one of the example, I doubt there's someone will predict Leverkusen will win Bundesliga from the beginning season, people will predict it's either Bayern Munich with 90% chance or Dortmund with 10% chance.

So this make AI is useless in forecasting.
From what I have gathered from this thread, Artificial intelligence could help to analyse games using statistics and history but it is now up to humans to make the final decision. These AI tools could be very helpful in giving us quick statistical feedback but as humans, we have to do the reasoning before using these AI-powered predictions. I don't think machines can ever replace the mental capacity of humans.
258  Economy / Economics / Re: Some attributing factors to the high cost of petroleum products in Nigeria on: April 12, 2024, 11:25:14 PM
I believe subsidy was removed couple of months ago and it's not the new thing but the problem statement should be why we cannot control these stuffs? When there are refineries within country why can't I be developed and utilized instead of importing it from other countries? Importing more leads to inflation is the basic economics but what is being done or what can be done to reverse this something we should be discussing now.
The reason why most governments remove subsidies is because they cannot afford it. In the case of Nigeria, the government was borrowing to finance subsidies which is not economically healthy. The new government acknowledged that they cannot fund these subsidiaries because it is not sustainable in the long run. Another reason was that the managers of the fuel subsidy policy were corrupt and kept inflating the amount spent on subsidies. In order to block these economic leakages there was the need to stop the fuel subsidy.

Lastly, the country has three large refineries that can supply at least half of the consumption rate of the country but because of low maintenance culture, these key public infrastructures are not operational. The government have refused to privatize them to enable private companies to manage them since the Nigerian government is not good in business.
259  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: April 12, 2024, 10:35:35 PM
I'm not completely sure Arsenal won't repeat the same mistakes this season when they have a chance to win the title. Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City have 7 games until the end of the season and they will try to win every possible point. The pressure is getting bigger towards the end of the season and they will be killing each other for top spot.
This doubt is truly justified. Because indeed, Arsenal is sometimes quite inconsistent in certain things, especially in decisive matches. Several times things even happened that were beyond predictions. Yes, although it is true that Arsenal's performance this season is much better than last season, the problem is that Arsenal have not been able to provide good enough consistency. So this can still change. And in the EPL this time, something unexpected could happen from Arsenal again.
Mikel Arteta is still building the team because as you can see the team is made up of mainly young players. They have been improving over the years and this season was better than the past one. Betting on them is risky to me due to their inconsistency but hopefully, this might not be the case next season after they have established themselves. For now, they will be focusing on fighting for the league till the end and ensuring they beat Bayern Munich in the second leg of the UCL. The next game against Aston Villa on Sunday will determine how far they will go this season. Aston Villa is desperately fighting for a top-four finish, so the Gunners shouldn't expect an easy game.
