Time for another update!

As you may remember, I have been hard at work these past weeks working diligently to integrate libjl777 into BTCD core. Today I made nice progress on the final barrier to debugging Teleport from within BTCD itself!

I created a custom message that will propagate through the network and expire once its time limit is reached.

Why is this a big deal?

The message contains a string of information that will be passed to the receiving node. The receiving node then processes it using James' Teleport functionality, then relays it to other nodes until it is expired.

The end user need never send this message, it can all be done behind the scenes. Yet, you can using my custom rpc command. Today I sent a teleport message from rpc to a connected node, where it was processed in libjl777.

Barring some unforseen incident, this should allow us to soon begin full debugging of Teleport from within BTCD itself.  Smiley

Phew, implementing new features is tough work!

I've got a custom message type running in the beta build of btcd, and multiple nodes sending and receiving them. Once I pass the relevant data, we will simply need to link in the relevant libjl777 routines and pass them to it!

Now it is curious to me that you are complaining about 1000 BTCD given to what looks to me like professional graphic designer. What was the value at the time? 1000 BTCD today is different than several weeks ago. If you are volunteering to work and then decide you want to become a paid contractor midstream, then this is your decision. Maybe if you had purchased BTCD on the open market when it was cheap like other key contributors (also showing faith in your own project), then some envy over somebody else getting paid would not be an issue?

James

Thank you for saying that! My personal friend designed the logo and other designs (such as the one in that photo) and put in weeks of work for this project. It was not wrong of him to ask for compensation. To say otherwise is downright wrong.

just made a test release of MGW that supports mgwBTCD
still needs some GUI and installers to make it easy, but cross off another item from my todo list
once this gets tested and approved, it will allow for rapid inclusion in InstantDEX trading

Maybe I will encrypt the telepods next

James
found some bugs during mgwBTCD testing, actually in some unrelated areas. Busy stomping them all out. gotta kill all the bugs!

So many bugs! Good thing I brought my giant can of bugspray Smiley

destination node compiled, linked and initializing
sound effects please
and it powers up, but no signal
BTCDdev forgot to put in the dilithium crystals
where is Scotty?

He's bringing them now  Grin

Hi everyone,

Today has been very productive. I was able to compile libjl777 under Windows and link it into BitcoinDark-qt. This means that the teleport functions are now able to be called and tested. I also built a custom rpc command which will be able to call these functions, such as teleport. In case you missed it the other day, I was able to successfully expand multisig support to 6-of-6 transactions, meaning that teleport is going to really be quite anonymous. Big things are coming for BTCD, and it really keeps the dev team motivated to see such positive posts in this thread  Grin

Ok I need to go to sleep, it's almost 4 am here.

Thanks,
Matthew

P.S. Remember to hodl

Another update!

I have been hard at work on this for the last few days. I changed the transaction fees based on whether you are teleporting, and just integrated a custom rpc command that will allow us to make calls to libjl777 anytime we want! We will be teleporting before we know it!

Another update

I was able to successfully create a 6-of-6 multisig BTCD address and sign/send a transaction from it to a standard BTCD address. The limit in other coins is 3-of-3. This development is important for teleport and everything btcd is working toward.  Smiley

More later

Hi Everyone - quick update on my progress,

jl777 and I have been working closely on integrating teleport functionality into BTCD core. I have nearly completed the work needed to integrate in all the upcoming features. As soon as James is finished with his work, we will have a Teleport-enabled BTCD core ready for testing!

The best part of this is, older nodes on the network will ignore all the new functions, so this will not even cause a hardfork  Smiley

If James is building the telepods, think of me as hard at work fitting the ships with the equipment allowing for those telepods to be smoothly locked into place.

We'll be beaming white bunnies around like crazy here pretty soon!  Grin

Thanks,
Matthew

Any chance to slow down the price increase?
It is a bit distracting to see it continue to make new highs
If this keeps up the Pump&Dump cartel will select BTCD for its pump of the day and this no good, too much volatile

They are already on it. Look at the recent charts and you will see the clear manipulation. It's no secret really. If you feel frisky you might want to join in and gamble on their dump order. You can lose quiet some coins tho if you place it unwisely.

Also the only problem I have atm with BTCD is that it stays and falls with James. If he disappears, gets hospitalized, dies or whatever the coin will crash pretty fast. Other devs working on it should also make more comments on progress so it at least looks more stable and not so one footed.

You are right, we should post more. We are here always, and have been very busy lately working on this project. I've been working on multisig implementation and expansion, the others have been putting together an entire marketing campaign for when the new features drop.

As far as the pump and dumpers, let them play their games. I wish people wouldn't fall such easy prey to them time and time again, but nobody forces anyone to sell. The best thing to do with this coin is hodl.

I have noticed that the price become higher and higher day by day.James and Dev,good job!

We are working hard every day to ready the new features. Trying to avoid a pump and dump in the meantime, I'm glad there aren't many fudders around. Don't want price to explode too much before new features are released!

Hi all,

I am Torrn, one of the core devs on this project along with jl777, Azeh, and BTCDDev. I will be here to help out and update info as we develop.

The link below is a transcript of our Dev IRC discussion from yesterday. If you have any questions or ideas that are generated from the discussion, please let us know.  Wink

I really recommend everyone read this. It will give you some insight into BitcoinDark and why this coin is going to do everything we have been promising!  Smiley

hi guys, what happened today for bitcoindark to almost double its value? I am really happy!
dev strategy meeting last night and lots of press
Nice one Jl777, is there a link to those press?

Check out the op and our twitter page.

For reference, I found a discussion between myself and AnonyMint. For those that know him, I dont need to tell you about AnonyMint. For those that dont, he is brutally honest, very smart and obsessive about anonymity. He worries about stuff like future Quantum Computers cracking all current day encryptions!

So, this thread gives some insight into where I was several months ago:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=470987.msg5581647#msg5581647

Now many of the design details have changed, some thanks to AnonyMint's feedback. As he says the key is being able to trust your privacyServer. Everything revolves around this, so for the truly paranoid, the solution is to setup your own privacyServer. If you cant trust yourself, then who can you trust?

I suggest that people that want to setup privacyServers for the public to use to start preparing now. People will want to know you, to be able to trust you as their privacyServer provider. I will make it so that privacyServer nodes get a percentage of the business that flows through them, eg. InstantDEX commissions. You will also earn nodecoins just for running a node. The privacyServers will eventually need Ddos protection, decent bandwidth, enough RAM. Not sure of the exact specs, but considering the hardware BTCD community put together to get 3 petahashes(!!), I dont see a big problem in getting enough privacyServers setup.

So, it will be a hub and spoke topology and we need to get more hubs than DRK has masternodes. However, just having nodes is not enough, we need to have each hub have at least 10 active users, otherwise attackers can use timing and knapsack analysis to deanonynimize.

I am envisioning the privacyServer providing many services, for example I already have a squid http/https proxy automatic install script. This allows you to get subscribers for http proxy service, which runs about $5 per month. Probably best to charge less to get more customers.

James

James, I will want to test/host a couple of privacyServers on a vps. Just let me know.

Hi everyone,

For those of you who have been in the irc, I need no introduction. For the rest of you, I am BTCDDev, one of the core devs on this project along with jl777, Azeh, and Torrn. I will be posting here along with them updates, some technical and some not, as we go along. Just though I would introduce myself.
